“How confident am I? Well, confidence should be high with the team, particularly after the four goal salvo against St Mirren just last week.

That should give any team a major boost of confidence, to know that, well, it was like a throwback, almost like vintage Celtic.

Like throwing away the shackles, just playing with confidence and going for it. In terms of preparation, we’re ready for it. Honestly, it’s genuinely just a game at a time. "

MON reflecting on last Sunday's match and the effect it could have on the team for the remaining 6 fixtures.

I wonder if he realises "the shackles" are Callum McGregor and will he be brave enough to drop the skipper, or at least move him forward?

23 Apr 2026 11:23:49
MON and SM must realize that although McGregor is the captain. he is the main catalyst for slowing down the game either with backwards and sideways passes or getting over-involved with multiple passes, when lifting the head and playing in forwards would be better. Unfortunately the back four have been 'programmed' to this dithering and giving teams an initiative.

Wide players also need to take note of what James Forrest did last Sunday and take more responsibility and if Maeds continues to show that appetite and Yang believes in himself more, we can take the bull by the horns and go for it.

23 Apr 2026 12:15:50
Callum McGregor isn’t responsible for Yang, Maeda or Tounetki constantly turning back or playing backward passes. That is down to manager to tell them to do their job or remove/ don’t play them. How hard can it be, even if through an interpreter, to say this is what I want you to do or I take you off! If that clown Hutton can spot that the entire team choose to go back when forward options are available then it’s down to management.

{Ed007's Note - I totally get what you're saying Chas but this has been happening at Celtic even towards the end of Ange's time here and was the same through Rodger's "horseshoe" in his 2nd stint. When we spoke about it on here, the pod or the live chat I'd say it must be coming from the manager for the same reasons you're saying, if you aren't doing what the manager tells you, you normally get bombed but none of the wingers ever did.
For me, I think it should be left to the winger to decide whether he wants to go inside or try and hit the line for a cross, it gives the defender a choice to make instead of them setting up constantly knowing the player is going to cut inside.
On CalMac, he is the player that is meant to be setting the tempo and driving the team forward, when the ball ends up with the wingers you can guarantee CalMac isn't far away demanding the ball off them, no matter where the ball is on the pitch he's there demanding it, even for him to play a 4 yard sideways pass or go backwards.
Poncing about making pointless sideways or backward passes isn't controlling the midfield and running the game the way our main playmaker should.}

23 Apr 2026 12:50:20
As long as its a manager decision leaving him out and not an injury, am divided Ed with him when jota was playing and khun they were more apt to take the fb on, it seems the modern way hell even the city left winger did it the whole game last night.

{Ed007's Note - It's definitely a "thing" in the modern game.}

23 Apr 2026 18:37:19
Don’t expect wingers to continually run blindly up the line but ours don’t even appear to see it as an option most of the time. They are easily countered because they are so predictable. Yang narrows our attacking options because he doesn’t stay wide.

We are a very frustrating side to watch at the minute when we know we can do better, as our six minute blitz proved. Let’s hope that’s a start of something.

On this date in our remarkable history,
Celtic won the league in our Centenary season on the way to the Double.
We beat Dundee 3-0 at home.

The Official crowd was given as 60,800 but the Celtic Directors admitted later there was actually 72,000 inside the Stadium with thousands more locked outside.
A crazy decision not to make it an all ticket game.

Also on this date,
Celtic played Clyde in the 1955 Scottish Cup Final which was the first SC final to be shown live on BBC.
Celtic were leading 1-0 with only 3 minutes remaining but conceded a goal directly from a corner kick with our keeper misjudging the flight of the ball.
Celtic lost the replay 1-0 against Clyde for a shock result.

Was at the game that day and it was mental, probably the busiest I had seen Parkhead. Was probably one of my favourite seasons and there was something special in the air.

23 Apr 2026 10:49:39
A think a was at that game Buzz a remember people wer on the trackside as well, did Chris Morris score.

23 Apr 2026 11:21:11
Remember it well. what a crowd!

23 Apr 2026 11:30:02
I was in the Celtic End at my usual spot middle-middle for the game.
Yes Morris scored an early goal and then Walker got a quick fire double in the 2nd half.

I our last game Rogan scored an early goal against Dunfermline which turned out to be the winner.
I remember both fullbacks scored early goals in those games but I had to check and you’re right about it being Morris against Dundee.

Dunfermline got relegated that season but their fans had a nice banner congratulating Celtic on our success and saying we would meet again soon.

22 Apr 2026 18:29:32
In the last 2 seasons Celtic have scored 20 goals in only 4 Semi Finals and conceded 3 goals.
The season before that Celtic also played out a 3-3 thriller against Aberdeen in the Semi Final before progressing on Penalties.

It's "Scott" to be.

Apparently Scott Brown saying our next captain should be Tierney

I think Alastair Johnston would make a great captain

Thoughts please.

Celtic have only lost Once in our History on this date and that was at Dundee in 1933.

On this date in 1981,
Celtic clinched the title with a midweek 3-2 victory at Tannadice.
Tommy Burns scored a sublime 3rd goal and the Celtic players carried their Captain Danny McGrain shoulder high in their lap of honour.

Richard Gough actually made his senior debut from the subs bench to play in the match when Celtic Won the League.

22 Apr 2026 00:58:56
Random this but given our need for a defensive mid and with Leicester just being confirmed as relegated. Harry winks might b available, he was a good young player at spurs, haven't seen much of him over the last couple years an yeah I get he's part of a gash team that's just been relegated but could fill a gap we've needed plugging for a while also pataon daka, hasn't scored many for them but he's 27 now an his record at Rb Salzburg was something like 50 goals in 80 games.

Sure he was linked with us before Leicester bought him, Couldn't be any worse a punt than big tam. probably get both in the incoming fire sale at very reasonable prices.

22 Apr 2026 09:04:38
I thought this too but although we're talking Leicester, I guess he'd still be on higher wages than we would offer.

22 Apr 2026 10:01:32
29 goals in last 5 seasons. why look for deadwood in a crap team when we've already got enough of our own.

22 Apr 2026 15:00:02
Dregs from Leicester can stay there.

21 Apr 2026 23:00:32
What’s the chances Lenny gets offered the job on the shower again at Hampden?

22 Apr 2026 09:05:51
As long as Peter stays clear of the showers we should be ok.

22 Apr 2026 09:08:06
Hope that doesn't mean dunfermline have won 😭.

21 Apr 2026 18:31:17
The SPFL have announced the fixture list for next season will be released on Thursday June 18th at Noon.
Previously it was always at 9am.
The first league game of the season will be on the Weekend of August 1st 2026.

22 Apr 2026 15:45:29
They will want a long lie in after marching about the streets in their Thunderbird costumes.

21 Apr 2026 15:49:33
The club that finishes 5th this season will be wanting Celtic to win the Scottish Cup to allow them European Qualification next season.

That club is currently Hibs who wanted us to beat Aberdeen in the final last year to guarantee them European Group stage football and approximately £4M.
We failed and then Hibs done what Hibs do and lost a 119th minute winner to Midtjylland in the Europa League to prevent spot kicks.
Then in the Conference League Hibs conceded a 93rd minute injury time goal against Legia Warsaw and then they lost the tie in ET.

The following year it all changes which will include only 4 clubs representing Scotland instead of 5 clubs.

21 Apr 2026 16:20:31
Buzz Scotland LOSES an European place while England get FIVE CL places plus what 3 Europa places and 2 Conference places
10 European places for one league is bad.

21 Apr 2026 17:43:34
In the last 20 Years UEFA and Sky TV have made the gap too big to compete against on a regular basis.

22 Apr 2026 10:20:46
It's totally scandalous that every country has at least one team in the CL why call it that when it's not the champions of a league that is participating?.

22 Apr 2026 10:59:27
They are pushing it towards a super league only involving teams from the top 5 leagues. That is where this is all heading.

These so called big leagues are forcing a corrupt association to force out lower oeagues so that all the money remains in these leagues.

22 Apr 2026 14:02:05
The big five countries don’t finance the CL, it’s us plebes from elsewhere. Start a not another penny campaign, pass it along through supporters groups and see the CL advertising revenue plummet. They’ll take notice then. Personally wouldn’t even buy a can of coke with their logo on if we’re not in it.

23 Apr 2026 09:46:51
That won't make a difference to CL, not a penny more. Get real.

The 5 big leagues have the backing of SLY and major sponsors so have a hand on UEFAs throat.

It is slowly turning into what UEFA fought against, a super league but in this case, they control it and its money, not another entity like the Saudis.
