We all know Daizen wins potential but what's the qualification for young player of the year, is it under 23 years of age. If it is there's only Kenny, Yang, engles, Sinisalo, Bernardo and the U21s to choose from really. Which I presume Engels has done enough to win.

The Khun

1.) 25 Apr 2025 17:14:56
I think Engels is only realistic contender for that award.

2.) 26 Apr 2025 01:26:36
That lot say the young lad Raskin. he's 24!

I just heard that England men's team are unbeaten in their last 39 qualifiers as far back to 2019 and then prior to that it was 10 years without a loss. If that is true surely that's a reason to abolish the pot seeding.

Look at how well the champions league went for the so called smaller teams when the big boys don't get it all their own way.

England have only lost One Qualifier in approximately 70 games played since 2009.

They lost 2-1 away to Czech Republic.
The closest they came to losing another game during that period was at Hampden when Griffiths scored 2 free kicks.

2.) 25 Mar 2025 11:57:09
England, along with other previous winners, should be pre-qualified for all world cups, as should the previous tournaments semi finalists (maybe even quarter finalists) . Cut down the qualifying, cut number of international games/ breaks, hopefully get to the point of one or two rounds, home and away knockout fixtures.

And abolish the nations league while we are at it, total waste of time.

3.) 25 Mar 2025 12:32:41
They will only play more Friendly games if they cut down on Qualifiers or scrap the Nations league.
Nations need games to prepare for major tournaments.

4.) 25 Mar 2025 20:15:30
Yes you are right Buzz bomb . International football has existed since club league football started . The problem with International football is that it is spread out over too many weeks of season and thus creates too many interruptions in domestic league football. Champions League puts a big strain especially on clubs who are vieing with the top 5 league teams and when these teams also have most if not all away on International football on weeks there is no Championship league games . Players are really pushed to limit and something has to be done to spread the stressful games and help players recover
Maybe close season can be lengthened by 2 weeks and their can maybe an additional 4/ 5 games squeezed into these 2 weeks . That could remove 2 international weeks from ist half of season.

5.) 25 Mar 2025 20:37:11
There’s no quick fix because International matches also get played every June when domestic seasons are finished across Europe.

6.) 26 Mar 2025 00:31:34
I know that Buzz but I was thinking we should play at least double the number of matches we currently play in June to take some of the strain off club teams .
In many ways we are like Liverpool, they pay out more in transfer fees than us, in fact far more but they are not really big spenders as far as EPL are concerned and haven’t the biggest of squads. I read reports that Liverpool seemed to be tired out and couldn’t complete physically with Newcastle in League Cup final, which may have been the same as us earlier in the day .
Mental and physical tiredness can creep. up on players without them being aware . Clubs in Champions League usually have nearly all their key players on international duties and that leaves many without a mid week break from some time in August until year end . That is bound to take its toll and we need to create breaks for top footballers.

22 Mar 2025 13:33:57
I hate international breaks. But we probably need it to reset and kick on.

To keep myself entertained I was thinking of outside of Scotland what country has provided the best contribution to the Celtic team over the years. As in the Netherlands provided Van Hooijdonk, Petta, Van Dijk, Petta, Frimpong etc.

My taught will always be Sweden with Lustig, Mjalby, the king of kings, Starfelt etc.

I like the Scandinavian players because they’re good and honest professionals who try their hardest.

Celtic have had a few Dutch howlers also.
Blinker, De Vries, Boeriggter and Sno.

2.) 22 Mar 2025 16:05:39
I also detest International breaks (and International football) . Especially when I am still seeing bravado headlines like 'What now for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers after 'Sevco humbling' Er; we get back up and do what we have more than any other club - we win trophies. Anyway, I agree about the Netherlands players being hit and miss over the years, but we have had better luck with Scandinavia and Poland. One region where we seem to have a poor record is South America. France and Belgium are other countries, I would like to see us explore although I appreciate the market may be competitive and costly.

3.) 22 Mar 2025 16:58:00
Wales in for a shout . hartson ledlely Matthews Bellamy.

4.) 22 Mar 2025 19:18:09
Japan, naka, kyogo, hatate meada . plus a few others that didn't really make a great impact like mizuno, kobayashi, iwata, ideguchi.

5.) 23 Mar 2025 12:00:13
International breaks may help fans to reset and move on. For some it's a good opportunity to rest by not even having to use remote control.
However International breaks are extremely difficult for many players and especially in Scotland, our club Celtic. Celtic would have somewhere between. 8 and 18 players scattered around the globe . It’s usually as late as within24 hrs before next domestic before BR sees all his players . This is particularly difficult for Celtic as most other clubs have a maximum of 3/ 4 players . With Celtic always going to have by far the most players away on International duty and no midweek match fixed for the next week, surely SPL is once again demonstrating their anti Celtic bias, by not arranging match for early Saturday and should fixed it for Sunday afternoon/ evening.

Taught Rocky did well. Today probably highlighted injuries, squad depth and the Callum Influence.

Too many off it today, one or two you can deal with, but when you have Schmeichel and ccv passing to ghosts, Johnson been massively off it, McCowan chasing shadows etc etc, it gives them a boost.

2nd half we were better which wasn't hard to be fair and we showed we were a better team but it crept back in. Individuals were off which makes the team off.

They met us at the right time and took advantage.

Quick few questions for anyone really, Just a couple of things bouncing around the head:
1. With the money from sales and European money, how much of a transfer kitty could Brendan get in the summer within the FFP?

2. With the advancement of the team under Brendan and the vast improvement of the injuries under Ange. Has Brendan changed the training interval timings or is it just better coaching?

3. With Callum and CCV being the supposed top earners on circa £37,000 and then a drop off to the next of Khun and Maeda at £20,000, will there be rewards handed out in an increase wage/ contracts for players or will we stick to the stringent wage structure?

4. Is this season's progression solely down to Brendan or is it the unit of the board, coaching staff in conjunction with Brendan's vision?

Apologies on the musings of someone that has not slept.

1. We are allowed to spend up to 70% of our total revenue on transfers, wages and agent fees. let's say we have a revenue of 140M this year, that would allow us to spend 98M on wages, transfers and agent fees. I am sure I read the other day that our wages are around 65M. If that is the case, then that would allow us to spend 33M on transfers and agent fees. Please keep in mind these are not exact figures, only estimates.

2. Without knowing all the intricacies of what happens behind the scenes it is impossible to say for certain. One factor that would help though is that we have such a strong squad, which allows the manager to rotate players, which would help prevent them reaching the red zone (where injury has a higher chance) .

3. I cannot see us deviating a lot from our current wage structure or raising the cap. That being said I do think our top performers will be on good contracts and negotiated when performance indicators are met or exceeded.

4. Brendan and his coaching team are certainly a big factor in our success. However, without the board doing an excellent job with our finances, none of this would be possible. Also identifying the correct players is monumental to the success of any football team.

2.) 20 Feb 2025 12:57:07
Good post and reply.

According to Transfermarkt,
Celtic have spent €43M but we have received €56M this season to make a €13M profit.

If it is £33M for example,
That would be over and above the cash we receive in the transfer window.

3.) 20 Feb 2025 13:59:14
Our last 5 transfers are KT, Jota, McCowan, Engels and Idah. Makes you believe the board are doing what BR wants and expects. Gives plenty of encouragement for the summer.

4.) 20 Feb 2025 15:36:51
I think this season's progress shows what can happen when everyone within the club pulls in the same direction. Don't get me wrong, the manager will always want to spend more than the board but we prioritised quality signings in key areas in the summer and the results are there for all to see. We still left the window in profit so there's no reason we can't continue this way.

5.) 20 Feb 2025 17:43:12
I think Brendan has brought in a new strength and conditioning coaching team and it appears he pays a lot of attention to their work and advice .
The substitute changes that Brendan makes from 60 mins until 80 mins, I think also comes from advice given by strength and conditioning team . The black Bra like “garment “ can give S and C coaches important messages which if information is heeded can help to avoid over activity .
It can also show too little activity.

6.) 20 Feb 2025 20:48:01
Thanks Bhoys greatly appreciated. I think we are in a great state at the moment, really great harmony and it's all paying off with the performances we are seeing. Forrest has been the only real injury issue and he's due back and Reo doing 90 mins what a difference a season makes.

Squad depth could be better for the amount of games we do have over the course of the season but by bringing players in and inflating squad it destroys the pathway for the youth which is needed. Also where is James Mccarthy.

I have been massively impressed with Engles over the last couple of months. Was probably judging him too harshly and was massively frustrated with him but what a turnaround I can now see in him. Mostly down to the lad himself, but with a good bit of credit to Brendan and the staff. Miller is a top player within the league barring ourselves. If he was to come he will be giving the time and assistance to progress as has Engles, Yang, khun etc etc under the management, sure look at Jota back smiling.

I got a feeling, The Bhoys will put on a show this evening. Hopefully Idah puts a display on to silence any doubters.

Don't agree with we got pumped. Pen was a joke. Fair the score was 4-2 adam got 2 thank god he missed, but when we attacked we were wasteful. Under ange we would of lost 5-0. We rattled them.

Oh this didn't age well. Once bitten twice shy. Think we got the mental strength for pens. Only concern is Engles if he takes 1 I hope he just scores nothing fancy just ball net.
