On this date in 1966,
Celtic won a high scoring game 5-3 at Easter Road with Joe McBride scoring 4 goals against Hibs.

I always thought that Joe McBride was the Top Goalscorer in our famous season even although his Christmas Eve injury put him out for the rest of the season.
But records show that Stevie Chalmers scored 36 goals in the 4 major competitions and Joe McBride scored 35 to 36 goals.
There’s a discrepancy in Joe’s goals total who only played 26 games that season.

Joe never got a regular game for Celtic after his awful injury and he was transferred to Hibs.
McBride then scored 8 goals in his first 3 Hibs games.
He scored against Rangers on his debut and then a European Hat Trick followed by another 4 league goals.
Joe ended up Hibs Top Goalscorer for the 2 seasons he was there.

I don’t know if Joe was impatient for more game time or Celtic could’ve been more patient after his bad injury.

Joe McBride was born only 200 yards from Ibrox Stadium.
He played alongside the older boys for his Primary school which included former Celtic Chairman Brian Quinn.

I don’t know if they had a player of the tournament but Michael Stewart was recommending Johnny Hayes.

Not a big podcast or live chat fan, most of them are full of people who love the sound of their own voice but a mate told me I had to listen to the Baws and Bovril podcast. I had previously listened to a Celtic podcast before, not sure the one and it put me off with the content they were talking about.

Yours on the other hand, brilliant guests and really down to earth analysis of the absolute sh*t show going on at our Club just now and Welshy is an absolute hoot! It's absolutely brilliant Mark, you've now got a subscriber and a big fan!

The oldest competitive opponent Celtic now have in the top 4 leagues is Clyde.
It previously was Albion Rovers before they dropped out of the 4th tier.

Clyde won 1-0 in that 1888/ 89 Scottish Cup tie but a replay was ordered due to the Clyde players wearing illegal footwear and they were also late which meant the game finished in the dark.
Celtic won the rearranged match 9-2.

It was our first ever major competition and we beat 7 opponents before losing to Third Lanark 2-1 in the Final.

Although I remain of the belief tthat MON should have left basking in the glory of our unlikely double (all things considered) . I reckon the only thing that gave me any crumb of comfort during that horrendous week, was that it came in September.

The manager, players and support must use this past fortnight to regroup and come again. Unfortunately, I do worry about the spector of our self-harming Board and the mutual toxicity yet again causing distraction and disharmony.

At least it’s only 2 International breaks this season and we are away after this break but have a home match after the November break.

Last season was a joke having 4 International breaks and Celtic came home to an away match in all 4 which meant our rivals had 4 home games.

Binks might not be great but with Hendry beside him it’s enough to make any player look bad.

We went to Caleta De Fuste for 6 years before my wife passed, it's a great place and a bit quieter than Corralejo with a great Irish bar.
If you want to miss the breeze best going late October, it's still really hot but not as windy, the sea temperature is at the highest around that time of year.
