The Sevco press are constantly downplaying what we'll get if MOR goes. How much do we think he's worth given he plays in a poor league?

9iar

1.) 25 Jul 2024 14:48:38
Doesn't matter what he's worth if it's an epl or serie a club then we ask for £50 mill and a sell on clause of minimum 33.3%.

2.) 25 Jul 2024 16:19:03
I reckon Celtic will take £25M if offered.
Maybe slightly less with a 15% future sell on.

3.) 25 Jul 2024 17:56:19
Play hard ball. he's contracted to 2027 and by looks of it going to improve . if anyone wants him pay big or get off the phone . if the bhoy himself is happy and would consider staying then make him an offer he can't refuse on a long term deal either way the situation is ours to control.

4.) 25 Jul 2024 18:50:23
Not being funny but did fabio silva not cost wolves £35m and he's absolutely honking? We shouldn't be getting low balled on this player, I would rather see MOR stay with us another 2 seasons and be sold for 6m before his contract runs out rather than take these pathetic offers, he's a baller, and in an incredible team he will be worth ridiculous money so hold out for an easy transfer record or just keep the boy where he is!

5.) 25 Jul 2024 20:08:41
Turner 1964. It’s ridiculous talking about how much we will get for MO’R and at the same time expect Celtic to progress in Europe . We don’t have many players capable of playing very well in Europe . How could we, everytime we get one the clamour is to sell him . One fan thought it was unfair of Celtic to hold him to his Celtic contact as he could earn more elsewhere. Thank God, despite Celtic tightening their belts after O’Neil’s spending, our miserable Board kept on HL despite better money could have been earned at Man Utd and Barcelona.

6.) 26 Jul 2024 06:03:42
Progression in the champions league? Wee Des do you mean progression in europe or actually the champions league? There has to be some realism about what we are trying to tackle with the fact we aren't in the same stratosphere, city wage bill 400m, ours 22m!
And my point was that exactly you keep MOR or get a huge offer accepted, players come to Celtic as a stepping stone in their career and will likely be promised opportunities to move on, even BR said so on the press conference, so why would we expect to keep players against their own wishes when they've come, served well and could make us money?

7.) 26 Jul 2024 19:28:29
Turner, here was me thinking over 75% of posters on this forum were critical of our Board for not getting our Manager the 0layers to progress in the ChampionsLeague beyond Christmas . I thought that because these sentiments were repeated so often the posters must have been confident of success which to Celtic would be playing CL in New Year .

{Ed007's Note - We'll be playing in the CL in January, the final matchday of the first stage is January 29th.}

We need to keep our feet on the ground guys but we might have a chance if winning the pre season cup ?. Celebrations at The Tron if we do?

9iar

1.) 22 Jul 2024 13:01:03
They have had a stranglehold on it in recent years. Would be a massive achievement if we managed to win it this year. ?

I think we should put it beside the European Cup if we win it. Thoughts?

2.) 22 Jul 2024 13:32:32
They look like winning their manager back over might be the biggest match they have. Even cheerleader boyd thinks he's chucked it.

3.) 22 Jul 2024 13:39:32
Bood of the park on Saturday
Their social media sites are full of rage before the season even starts.

4.) 22 Jul 2024 13:55:08
1st leg of hopefully a Quadruple ?.

5.) 22 Jul 2024 16:53:29
They are lucky they are not playing at Ibrokes. Once they start playing to empty stadiums they will probably play better, like Covid season. So maybe they might pose a challenge ???????.

6.) 22 Jul 2024 18:59:08
Saw that sevco supporters video of their game against Man U. God they were dug meat and before half time they were running for the exits.

If they lose a game or 2 early on, or exit Europe early, the hordes will be marching on asbestosdome and Bennet may have to own up to how bad things actually are.

If they have a poor start to the season, baldy will leave and will disclose exactly what is going on, that appears to be the nature of the man, no loyalty other than to his ego.

7.) 22 Jul 2024 21:34:29
The baldy skeletor never accepts responsibility, it is always someone else's fault with him.

8.) 22 Jul 2024 22:21:01
It’s strange how the old Rangers were booed off the park several times before Murray started using other people’s money to buy players Rangers couldn’t sustain.

As they continued that into the new decade and beyond, our Board did exceptionally well despite the pressure from demanding fans, who blamed Celtic Board without thinking maybe Rangers figures don’t add up. Of course the SMSM joined with the Rangers gloating over Rangers excellently run club and the genius of Murray.

Celtic Board whilst getting nothing but abuse from own fans and laughed at by Rangers 1872 fans and media and suffering from decisions from Rangers supporting refs and linesmen had to take it on the chin as they just couldn’t match the financing of Rangers team by legal and illegal means. Rangers couldn’t risk stopping cheating because they were afraid of the boo boys returning to Ibrox, until it all exploded in their face in 2012.

The new club have done everything apart from the correct way of slow steady growth to catch us, they are now back into a position that if things go wrong, no Champions League, prolonged spell of repairing Ibrox with no games in it and losing the next court case in September and October, administration and liquidation could be knocking at the door again.

Does anyone know roughly how much Celtic are being paid to cross the pond?

9iar

1.) 21 Jul 2024 18:51:57
I’m not sure 9iar but it will be a few million.

Celtic played Real Madrid in a one off match in August 2012,the last time we visited the USA.
The organisers must have been made worth our while to go over for only One game.

I remember it well because I sneaked away from my Brother-In-Laws wedding reception to watch the 2nd half.

After the wedding earlier in the day,
We all had a chuckle that Sevco needed a last minute equaliser away to Peterhead, in their 1st ever league match.
A few hours later Celtic were playing Real Madrid in Philadelphia.
It’s all about levels. ?.

2.) 21 Jul 2024 19:43:49
Talking of friendlies. The SMSM are reporting that Sevco must have made a tidy amount from their sold out game with Man U. Tickets costing circa £70. I'm sure I read that this is part of the Australian cup debacle, that they are contracted and won't make a bean. Anyone have any info?

3.) 21 Jul 2024 20:22:00
Sure Mark said the same on the pod, also it was Man Utd’s game they were the ‘home’ team.

4.) 21 Jul 2024 20:46:44
Yep they made nothing. ?.

5.) 21 Jul 2024 20:58:28
Celtic Mad,
Sevco have another 2 pre season friendly games to play in the next couple of seasons, in the agreement to stop the Aussies from taking them to court. ?.

6.) 22 Jul 2024 13:46:25
Sevco must soon be starting their European Qualifying Campaign . I wonder will they be able to bring the Portrait of the Queen from Ibrox to Hampden without some of the plaster coming off wall exposing asbestos which will have to be dealt with before their return.

18 Jul 2024 15:26:26
James McCarthy seems to have been with us for ages. Surely he must be off soon?

9iar

1.) 18 Jul 2024 15:45:35
1 year left on his contract.

2.) 18 Jul 2024 15:59:53
Is he not due a testimonial ?.

3.) 18 Jul 2024 17:03:02
He must be the highest paid supporter at Celtic Park.

4.) 18 Jul 2024 17:06:08
I think whatever role that MacCarthy was intended to play became obsolete when Celtic signed Mooy at the end of the window . He quickly became a non playing mid fielder and has kept that position since . For a long time very keen Celtic fan Mc Carthy’s career has been a complete waste.

5.) 18 Jul 2024 18:03:52
Just pay off his contract and get rid of if it's only a year left.

6.) 18 Jul 2024 18:34:15
Mooy was signed a year later than McCarthy.

7.) 18 Jul 2024 20:12:51
McCarthy cannot enjoy coming in for training, knowing he is nowhere near getting into the first team squad.

Why hasn't he made moves to leave and at least play in his last few years.

It can only be due to the wages he is on.

Looks like Lammers is going to do the same to them but for more wages.

8.) 18 Jul 2024 23:49:55
I don’t think he is training with the first team players . I might be wrong. But I think BR cut him loose.

Yes, he has his flaws but overall he does a good job for us and he has a bit of dig to him. I'm in the Taylor camp and btw, LB isn't the only area we need an upgrade. If we're even semi serious about Europe, I think of upgrades to guys like Calmac. I love the guy but it is what it is.

I agree wee Joe. The football under GS was a hard watch lots of the time but you know what, and guys on here may disagree, given he was given much less to spend than MON, I hold GS in higher regard than MON.
