Sporting just gave us the perfect example of what is possible if you move the ball forward with pace. We still seem to be set in our ‘ how can I find a 50 yard backward pass’ ways. My worry is that, that style is so ingrained that it will need transferred out of the team over time

Preseason games are obviously not worth getting too stressed over… however, I do think we are at least 5 players away from being able to feel confident going into the start of this season. and that's now… before the inevitable exodus. I for 1 don’t really care if the skipper goes, long past his best and has more off games than on imo, although he is not alone in that in this squad of misfits. I have no confidence in this board that they will give the manager the players he needs, MoN wouldn’t have been my choice as manager but like we all know.

there’s only one guy calling the shots on this board and it’s fair to say he holds our fanbase in what can only be put as contempt! It’s been a few years since we had a trophy less season… now probably far too early to think about that possibility but would it really be that much of a shock given the continual downgrade of the playing staff over the last few years 🤷‍♂️.

There is no way this board are signing 5 first team ready players this window, we will sell Maeda and Engels definitely and possibly Nygren bringing in approx 40 million, we'll possibly spend 10 on god knows who and get a couple of loans in. This season could well be when it all catches up with our incompetent board.

Wilson said weeks ago that players would come in quickly over the next week.

He lied then and now our Manager can only say he is optimistic rather than players WILL be coming in soon.

MN needs to leave or be replaced. He is a Solicitor by trade and clearly knows nothing about players and how to identify and negotiate transfers.

I think what we can take from the Sporting friendly, even although we fielded a weakened team, is that we are seriously in need of reinforcements.

With less than 3 weeks to go before the start of the season and with a number of players reported to be leaving the board really need to step up and deliver what the fans expect 🤞🏼.

Did anyone have any ideas to what system we were playing.
Obviously the results doesn't matter and we are still waiting on players coming back and we will sign players but the defencive set up was puzzling.

3 weeks until the real stuff starts, frightening that we will probably need 5 decent signings in to just stand still when you take into account the likely leavers. The arrogance of our board beggars belief.

This rebuild should have started months ago. I said tongue in cheek weeks ago that we will be scratching around looking for loans at the beginning of August, unbelievably I fear this will come true.

5 decent signings or kt, Johnstone, trusty, Maeda, Yang, tonetki, nygren, they arguably all start ……. Maeda won’t be back imo, we definitely need players but let’s do a rerun of the panic we’ve seen and hysteria after a friendly defeat,

I think Lisbon were missing a lot of players from World Cup.

Friendly or not, that was a shambles and a sign of things to come if we don’t sign a higher standard of player.

People keep saying it's only pre season and we were missing players or we made lots of subs etc but it's the same for the opposition is it not. A weakened sporting team battered our weakened team, if something major does not happen in the next week or two we are in big trouble.

I turned off and back on then back off, I wouldn’t really chose to watch our reserves play friendly matches and wouldn’t in anyway look anything into the result, if the point is we need players that’s true, but we can’t ignore the 6 starters not there, the exercise quickly becomes just an exercise in my view, apart from seeing a new player or a young player for first time,

Just watching Maloneys goals on YT. Forgot how many free kicks he scored, like so many. Forgot the screamer against the orcs. He is under appreciated I think for time here. Probably being positioned to take reigns from MON. I personally wouldn't have a problem with that especially MON recommends.

It all depends imo on how our transfers are conducted. He is better qualified and experience over what Lenny had both in England, Scotland and internationally. It would make sense in a continuity aspect. However this window is the catalyst for succes or failure and clock is ticking!
