Ed I've just had a look at our future fixtures and according to the bbc site we have 9 games in the month of December. That's 9 games in 28 days at almost a game very 3 days which is a crazy amount. Is this correct?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's spot on buddy.}

24 Oct 2016 23:16:36
Wow that's a lot of games in a short space of time, this is where the depth of our squad will come into play.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We might even see Kris Commons!}

24 Oct 2016 23:28:31
Maybe even Efe 😱🙈 (too far)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - We're possibly only one injury away from Efe being in the match day squad! If any of Simunovic, Sviatchenko or Toure get injured Efe would be brought in.}

what's happening with occonell anyone know he seems to went off the radar0.

Even before our young CB (forget his name) Ed? He was doing well, what happened just developed time in u20?

{Ed007's Note - Eoghan O'Connell - I think it would depend on our opponent if he was selected over Ambrose.}

Good way to put everyone on a downer Ed lol.

25 Oct 2016 10:48:32
I would think oconnell before effe?

{Ed007's Note - O'Connell isn't even part of the first team squad.}

Gordon
Lustig Simunovic Schiavchenko Tierney
Roberts Brown Armstrong Rogic Sinclair
Dembele

De Vries
Gamboa Toure Ambrose Izzaguire
Forrest McGregor Bitton Henderson Christie
Griffiths

I know I've left one or two out for subs - and each team could be rearranged, but even allowing for the ridiculous fixture schedule, we should have enough about us?

25 Oct 2016 16:12:09
Our b team is better than everyone's first team and I am hard pushed to find an spfl player who would make our b team.

Forrest won't be in the B team.
Gaffer likes him and he looks like he will start most matches.

Hi Ed

Is there any news of young Ajer getting back into the first team, Thought he would be perfect along side Brown but since breaking his thumb he doesn't seem to get a look in.
Surely he must be better than Bitton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Ajer's just a kid remember, he was never going to get much first-team football this season and I said in the summer I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him go out on loan in January.}

25 Oct 2016 00:03:06
Ajer isn't in the first team pool . Brendan Rodgers has no plans for playing him in the first team this season. We have Christie, Henderson and Mc Gregor all ahead of him.

Ed, any idea what mccarthy's contract situation is at Everton? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - His contract runs till 2020.}

24 Oct 2016 21:33:40
If we do sign him and I think it is a big if, I hope we are not really disappointed with him
He has been very poor for the R O I.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Oct 2016 22:07:51
Think McCarthy would be a great signing, but don't understand how it would happen, with the even more obscene wages they get down in England than the obscene wages they get up here, if its a loan deal how much of his salary would Celtic have to pay?, on the point about Scott Brown, I've always thought he is one of the best signings that we ever made, think you can put down last years performances because we had Ronnie ( I don't know what I'm doing) as manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2016 10:41:21
I don't agree that McCarthy is good enough to take us to another level. His value us overblown due to the money available in EPL.

I think signing him, even thinking about it to be stupid. He's a good player. He isn't a great player and fir the money in fees and wages would be much more than he contributes.

If that type if money is to be spent there are better players in other country's who would be a step up.

Great comments from Sutton and Butcher calling game as they saw it. Priceless from Big Terry, when he commented on Senderos's movement that his ' taxi had just pulled up'. Guy is slow as treacle. Well done bhoys😊.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2016 20:14:29
Big Terry went right up in my estimations when he described last month how his wife challenged him about buying into the anti-Catholicism at Ibrokes during his playing days which made him take a step back and ask himself what the feck he was singing. Fair play to him. He was as honest as the days long during his comentary yesterday as you say Norway1.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Butcher has spoken out a few times about the going ons inside Ibrox, him and Ray Wilkins were disgusted at the treatment of Mo Johnston by a hell of a lot of their 'hero' players and officials.}

24 Oct 2016 20:37:05
Well said bhoys i really enjoyed the commentary from Sutton and butcher.

Although I thought Sutton was a little over the top with Thomson.
I agreed with everything he said but it's kinda make your point and move on.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 21:01:30
I actually mentioned that on Twitter. Couldn't believe how much stick Sutton was getting for being "biased" when ex-Rangers captain Terry Butcher agreed with almost every word he said.

24 Oct 2016 21:42:50
Really it would be very difficult to go over the top about Thompson.

Really hope deila (only joking) Rodgers plays 4-4-2. Serious potential with Dembele/ Griffiths. What a transformation in life Griffiths has made. Tommy Burns will be proud.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2016 21:44:22
Aye it would be great fun playing two strikers up front and losing games on a regular bases.

Agree0 Disagree6

25 Oct 2016 00:22:15
you can't be serious old bhoy? We should beat anyone in Scottish football regardless of who plays and where. Every team in Scotland would love to have players who are third choice here in their first team. On top of that I don't think there is a player in Scotland who is better than what we have already. We should play 2 up top domestically and in Europe if it's working which it would. Don't know where Rodgers get this I don't have the players in midfield to do so? Bollocks he's petrified of failure, evidenced by his late changes on Sunday I mean no Roberts and Griffiths not on until 75+ minutes in? Waited until the 60th to take of bitton.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2016 13:21:58
At the moment I trust and believe B Rodgers when he says it isn't a simple matter of playing two up front but that our strengths come from the pressure our players put on our opponents all over the pitch .
I don't think B Rodgers who in my opinion is the best position to know goes with just one striker for the craic, I imagine he thinks it suits Celtic best.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 18:18:59
Daily ranger ratings of players pure Comedy Gold . Apparently Celtic and Rangers were on a par! Shaky nail time for Magic, plus its no players he needs on January it's a squad of plumbers n roofers' ☺.

24 Oct 2016 19:13:33
They had 3 players in team of the week! lol.

Agree2 Disagree0

I see BR has said that he cannot wait for the January tranfer window.
Who do you want

Calum Paterson
Andrew Robertson
James Macarthy
Robert Snodgrass
Or who.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Why would we need Paterson or Robertson and why would we want Snodgrass? Selling Bitton and bringing McCarthy in would be ideal though.}

24 Oct 2016 17:51:59
As much as I would love to get McCarthy, I can't see Everton reducing the asking price enough for us to afford him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Stranger things have happened, Rab.}

24 Oct 2016 18:27:35
I would think he might bring in one - or two at most as very good players are very rare in January and most clubs are reluctant to sell. There is no doubt we need to keep strengthening to compete in Europe, but the form of Tierney, Dembele, Brown and Sinclair, the resurgence of Forrest and emergence of Simunovic and a more confident Armstrong is all very encouraging at present.

24 Oct 2016 18:22:53
Ed have you heard anything about McCarthy as I heard this today from one of his family but when I said about affording him they said stranger things have happened?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Celtic contacted Everton last week (maybe the week before, I did say on here or maybe it was the live chat) about signing McCarthy in January.}

24 Oct 2016 19:00:30
Paterson! I really don't see the fuss with this guy, he's pish! And we couldn't afford the other 3! Like snodgrass but a CM is priority!

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Oct 2016 19:42:55
Totally agree ed, there is 1 position that is glaringly obv we need strengthened and that is the other midfield position next to Brown. He has been outstanding this season but is having to do it himself in there at times.

On wed night against Gladbach if I were Brown first thing I would have done in dressing room after game is grab Biton by the scruff of the neck and say "gonna gie me a hand out there".

Brown is the only 1 fighting and scrapping when opposition have the ball while Biton stands and watches.
I would snap your hand off for McCarthy, while I an admirer of Armstrong I fear he might not be good enough I hope I wrong tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 18:42:11
would love mccarthy tbh, wouldn't say no to snodgrass on a pre contract either, Ed was it rodgers that signed Ki sung from us when he was at swansea?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Didn't Ki join Swansea the summer Rodgers left? 2012.}

24 Oct 2016 18:44:56
To ED Paterson could allow Lusnig to move inside when Toure goes Robertson could give cover to Tierney also allow him to move forward ala Garath Bale both could be signed on free for the summer, Not sure about Snodgrass sometimes he looks a world beater next he looks like he could not beat a drum.
We need at least one other real quality midfielder someone who can pick a pass and tackle like wanwamya.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We've got Gamboa to deputise for Lustig and Simunovic to replace Toure. I don't understand why anyone would want to move our best LB in decades to play out of position, Oh look, we've got one of the best young LBs in Europe, why not risk ruining his career by playing him as a winger. It's a nonsense, nobody talks about playing Dembele at CDM because of his height do they? What you're actually saying is play KT instead of Sinclair.
Hull also have a years option on Robertson's contract so realistically his contract runs until 2018 and Hull are already in talks with him to extend his deal further. Hull would be looking for circa £10 million for him this coming summer, I'm sure they wanted £13 million that summer there.}

24 Oct 2016 20:05:52
Cheers ed, think he would be a great signing, Armstrong looking better and think will only improve but McCarthy in there to help brown would be a great midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Armstrong fan club seems to be getting bigger :-D

24 Oct 2016 20:42:14
Give Armstrong a chance he looked fab entering things on Sunday quicker and solid IMO

Given the McCarthy one a bit of thought factor in Commons and Efe are away tail end of the season and that is the lads wages there without any loss to the team am sure Ed said transfer fees are paid over a protracted time now anyway but just for once it would be lovely to splurge that CL money that has been missed over the last two seasons, wouldn't it be great to see that income factored into the playing staff be a great statement IMO 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It would certainly send some message out if we could make it happen, Jamie.}

24 Oct 2016 21:08:15
Ed, I actually spoke to Callum Patterson's dad very briefly about him moving to us. He laughed and said tongue in cheek that he was too good for Celtic, but did say that we "like him" and . And before anybody starts, this actually happened, he goes out with my girlfriend's aunty lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think Paterson's a good young player, Kev but I don't think we need him just now and I hate to see good young players joining us and not playing, his career would be best served staying at Hearts for now.}

24 Oct 2016 22:02:07
I'd have to agree with you there Ed. It would be good to have a young Scot on both flanks but Lustig is doing well at the moment and there's not been enough game time for Gamboa to show his worth so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Gamboa's a Rodgers signing so he'll get his chance and don't forget we still have Janko to come back or move on too.}

24 Oct 2016 22:57:08
It has to be a gk bhoys for me that's the main priority.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think that'll wait until the summer but it has to be the priority then for me too. We simply can't have another crack at the CL with Gordon as our No.1.}

25 Oct 2016 10:37:33
You reckon we could get him on loan Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Unless it was a loan with a realistic option to buy then no, Rodgers doesn't want any loan signings and we don't want another Guidetti situation where the player thinks he has a chance of moving and we have no intentions of stumping up for him.}

25 Oct 2016 08:22:07
Any names ed?

I fancied Marshall but that's not looking likely.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Nah, sorry.}

24 Oct 2016 15:44:16
I said at the time I could not get my head round why we were looking to sell Jozo. Fast forward a couple of months and it looks like keeping him is going to pan out as one of our best pieces of business this summer. He looks so commanding and strolls through games with composure on the ball as well. If he can stay fit we could be looking at a bumper!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Oct 2016 16:40:20
He did look like a player. Hope he can keep fit and that Sevco keep Clint Hill! Who would you have in your back 4? Looking at our squad, we are miles ahead of them. Souness is asking the board to invest in Rangers so they can compete. But it's just another punt. If you give Warbo £10 mill and they still don't win the league and qualify for CL, then what happens? How do they finance the next challenge? Do you give him another £10 mill and so on? It's not just about one transfer kitty it's about squad depth, recruitment, scouting players over many months maybe years. sports science, medical care, stadiums etc etc. Compared to Celtic, Rangers have nothing in place They are miles behind.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 17:48:31
I couldn't believe we were going to sell him too. It's was clear that he has good talent in him that can become special with playing time. Hope we hold onto him.

What I like most is his passing, it's always a strong hard pass in the right direction to keep the players movement going forward and opens up space as the opponent player has to run fast to close down the pass thus opening more space.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 17:53:27
I'm assuming a combination of his injury record and Rodgers wanting his own man in, were the deciding factors in us trying to sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 21:06:45
A big factor in keeping big Jozo is if he wants to stay. was it not the player himself that was trying to get the move to Torino done.
I hope he has settled now he is free of injury but if a player want out there isn't much we can do.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2016 21:11:18
Rodgers always spoke very highly of him and how he was excited about getting him fit then all of a sudden he was off. It was a strange one. Maybe they thought it would be wise to recoup the money in case he ended up another Derk.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2016 00:17:11
I hope they do spend big. Love it if they borrowed 10 million to finish second at best. MW does not want to spend money as he knows there is none. If he was given any borrowed money like 10 million they would need to win the league and qualify for champions league. They will be fighting for top six. can't wait to pump them at crumbledebt dome on hogmany. Our bhoys will be desperate to make up for thst 1-0 humping yesterday. with a few more goals.

Just watching the highlights again and amazed at how we only scored one as we were in control and the only team creating chances from KO and trying to win the game.
Our back four were comfortable and very composed, with young Tierney once again covering every blade of grass, while Scott Brown was running the middle of the park.
Most of the team played very well, although we never turned the superiority into goals; however,
Bitton was a spectator, while Forrest and Sinclair could maybe do with a rest for a week or two?
The stand-out once again was your man Thomson; it's not just major controversial decisions - as you expect at least one or two, but it's the blind eye here and there and constant 50-50 adverse decisions that go on, all game.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

24 Oct 2016 17:51:35
Ya they need to sit wasn't impressed recently with them. We can't let players feel like their place is safe cause with those 2 players it will cause their play to go down.

Hope there is no problem with Roberts BTW him and Rogers (or maybe he knows he won't be here long and is playing players that will be here)

I prefer PR but I think its a pace thing with BR he likes front players with pace to get up the pitch quick and that's why he goes for JF.
Tho I think with all the games coming up PR will get plenty of game time.

24 Oct 2016 19:19:23
11 in 67 agree with you on thomson not only the big decisions he got wrong he gave every foul to rangers and barely any to us saw bt put up the stats near the end he gave us 6 fouls and rangers got 16 pretty much any 50-50 and any time a rangers player fell over they got the nod the chalked off goal was laughable and when he booked the rangers player i thought he gave a pen as most probably did i wasn't even surprised i was just thinking wow he got that in good and early.

I see that Newcastle and Crystal Palace are in for simunovic. I really do think selling him would be a step backwards and we've got a real talent coming through with him. Bit more expeirience and tutoring under Kolo and well have a solid centre back pairing in Erik and Jozo. Think he needs a chance in Europe to be fair!

Think the fact torino were willing to pay 3/ 4 mill for a guy who was on his way back from injury says a lot about how highly some rate him . Needs a good run in the team imo but looked solid yesterday.

Kenlike Eh, I haven't notice many posts from you previously and no doubt you may not be up to date with the way the media operates in Scotland.
The media are very good at upsetting players and supporters at the one time . There never seems to be a time that hostile bids are ( in the minds of the media ) , been prepared for at least some of our top players . Sometimes some of our fans are gullible to believe the media and on occasions that can reflect with a lesser support for the player who becomes unsettled.

Rather than print facts about the Sevco existence, or criticize the Brentford Bread Man they always have to resort to fairy tales and fabrication to the detriment of our club.
It just shows how much it hurts and eats away at their wee narrow, bitter minds - and long may it continue. Celtic supporters should never buy into - or indeed buy these arse-rags.

Just going by what I read on Twitter Rab. Came from one of my mates who is a big Newcastle fan, he's down in Newcastle every home game. Chinese whispers. But truly if you look back at the past 6-8 years at Celtic Every time a big player for us left, another would replace him and follow the same path. Looking at our squad just now we've got a good few players that can continue to grow as a player on and off the pitch and become just as important as what wanyama and Virgil were. Tierney, jozo, dembele and rogic will be massive players for us in the future. I truly hope they stay and help our club challenge europes best once again.

I know it's been mentioned before but I have to say Scott brown is having his best season for years. I can only presume he was fuming after last years semi when everyone said he was finished ( including some of our own fans) . He got loads of stick about coming off second best to their hero Halliday. He's obviously bottled up that feeling as he has totally controlled both him and mouthy Barton in the last two sevco games. He's been fairly respectful leading up to the games but you know deep down he's saying what we all want and that we want to smash them every time we play them and teach them some respect. By the way I loved the tackle on Halliday to earn him a booking, both to smash him and give him an opportunity to let the Hun ref what he thought of him.
