Reports coming out of America that we have signed Gutman and Manny Perez more young players coming in. I do not have a problem with youth as long as there are quality and stay a good few years.

1.) 10 Jan 2019 23:12:02
Manny perez following celtic twitter now, could be nothing or could mean he's signed. Any chance at all you think hell be a first team player this season Ed, if signed?

{Ed007's Note - He might get a run out against a Dundee or Accies or depending on who we get in the cup but I can't see him being a regular starter.}

16 Jun 2018 16:11:12
I have just read that the Edouard transfer fee was as follows
4.5 million + add ons for champions league group stage qualifing for four years + extra if capped for france + his agent and wages for four years
Total 9 million that would tie in with what BR said.

1.) 16 Jun 2018 17:03:20
I can’t believe what you’ve just described is the biggest potential outlay ever by the club, which is what they said in the club statement. Sutton and Lennon were both £6m and must surely have been on at least £25k per week in wages.

2.) 17 Jun 2018 01:44:09
I'll concede that the deal has been done ;) . As far as the contractually binding bump up fees go? . Your a country mile ahead jono. I've not seen the paperwork. No one has. Unless James Forrest decides to write a novela of his life so far with a tasty insider tell all and spills the beans we will never know.

3.) 18 Jun 2018 11:38:58
What’s your source for this breakdown?

22 May 2018 16:24:02
I see we are being linked to a Newcastle defender. They are quoting a price of 8 million it will never happen at that cost no way will Pl or BR sanction that for a player who could not even play in a mediocre PL team.
Also i have not seen any interest in Stuart Armstrong from any sites he will be lucky to get a move to a average championship club. He would be better off staying where he is on improved terms.
And finally i believe that the deal for Osmund Edouard would be more like the same as that of Ntcham.

1.) 22 May 2018 20:32:35
Jonace could u give me the lottery numbers for Sat mate bit skint.

What is the score with Eric Shevchenko is he just waiting for january and a move.

1.) 16 Nov 2017 16:12:19
He's available for selection this weekend.

21 Aug 2017 19:22:19
I see cape town are saying we have signed Coetzee. no offical announcement.
I will wait until it is announced, after all we still await his arrival in Glasgow and taken a medical.
He still has to agree terms and i will wait till i see him in the green and white.

Would you play our best available 11 against Valencia or would you rest some players
Bain, Toljan, Ajer, Hayes, Forrest, Macgregor, Christie, Sinclair, and Burke
Play Gordon, Lusnig, Boyata, Simonvic, Issaguire, Johnstone, Brown, Bitton, Weah Ntcham and Edourd. subs made up of bit part players Rogic Griffiths, Hendrey, Commper, Ralston Ganboa, Devries, Allan, Benyu
It would give some players a game and
youngsters experince
The first group stay at home gat some training in.

1.) 17 Feb 2019 21:07:10
If people legit believe we don't stand a chance in Europe then technically we should always just use our youths in Europe and see who will sink or swim for SPL.

Also if Europe is an impossibility then clubs should just refuse to take part altogether.

Financially it may hurt but again you don't need extra cash for domestic.

2.) 17 Feb 2019 21:14:58
It would be embarrassing for a club of our stature to effectively through in the towel after a 2-0 home defeat in the first leg. Are we likely to go through? No. But we have to play like we believe we can turn it around.

3.) 17 Feb 2019 21:28:56
The players will want to make amends for a pretty disappointing display all round and although the damage has been done giving them a two goal start; there is still pride at stake and more valuable experience for younger players.
The priority of domestic dominance remains but a by-product of that is European football and we just can't chuck in the towel or the games a bogey.

4.) 17 Feb 2019 21:35:16
Play the strongest team, play the most attacking formation, I think that means leaving Brown on the bench.

5.) 17 Feb 2019 23:09:51
on the day who knows?
We will need a wee bit luck but 2 goals is not impossible.
I never believe we can't win but I am realistic enough to accept it is a mountain.

6.) 17 Feb 2019 23:51:52
BR has steadfastly refused to resort to a long ball game no matter the situation. Playing a second string would be no difference to playing a long ball game as it would represent a deviation from the plan so I think he’ll put out the strongest 11 and try to build from the back. I know a lot of you think it’s futile because it’s not working but I believe in BR and it might take a few years of this before we get there but I think he will eventually.

7.) 18 Feb 2019 10:11:03
Aindoh it's the all out attack that's killed us. Valencia said so themselves.

They said they knew our team would press up high and they just waited to pounce.

LW CAM ST RW that's 4 players attacking. essentially we play a 424 in a sense and for Europe that's wild considering we don't have a superior squad to most of the teams.

8.) 18 Feb 2019 12:10:24
I didn't see much of the game and listened to a bit on the radio, but the bits I seen and heard, we weren't doing too much pressing high up, most of it seemed to be passing the ball along the back then giving the ball away, that's because the midfield mix was wrong, that's why I would drop Brown, I wouldn't listen to what Valencia are saying, they didn't have to wait to pick us off, they just needed to wait till a Celtic player passed to them.

9.) 18 Feb 2019 13:44:48
Aye because they closed down our passing lanes. Most of the first half we tried to press them. Whether we managed to or not is irrelevant cos that's what we were attempting.

Then we ran out of ideas and they took their opportunities.

We aren't good enough to play like that in Europe unless we invest in the squad.

Valencia are a good side so tactically you need to be spot on.

10.) 18 Feb 2019 14:55:38
It's easy for Valencia to speak with hindsight as to how they knew we were going to play to suit them . A it of playmanship . We had plenty of situations where if we found the right ball we could have opened them up and scored .
They scored two goals, as they said later by catching us up field and getting us on break . However despite been better team they never looked like scoring many more
Undoubtedly they have done enough, but if we could manage to score, the cocky spaniards might sweat a bit.

11.) 18 Feb 2019 17:42:34
Nah they are far superior. Their game plan was perfect for us.

Same as monchengladbach and Anderlecht

Reminds me of when Lennon's side played against Juventus and we had the ball often enough and people said we just defended poorly or were unlucky.

Juventus and Italian sides do that in general or used to and if sides with that level of quality defend tight in Europe then why don't we?

12.) 18 Feb 2019 22:33:21
The better team doesn't always win . I never said that Valencia were not the better team . What I was trying to say that it was easy for their manager to say that the game went the way he knew it would .
He was speaking with hindsight .
The only way we could expect to beat Valencia was have 8-9 men deep in defence and hope to score on break with very few going forward
Or throw the kitchen sink at them, score one or two and break their confidence .
Thankfully B R won't try first way.

17 Feb 2019 11:55:40
Having time to consider the last few days plus our season so far.
We have by far the best squad in scotland, we have invested heavily in players given income and the size of the country.
Therefore why such poor performaces in Europe and away games in Scotland.

My conclusion is that our coaching and tactics are lacking in a structure, that allows us to win when we are pressed high up the park.
I have been watching old games on Utube and find teams with a number of tall strong players and when attacking crossing quality balls into the box. Defenders who get in the way of the ball stop goals.

When was the last time we scored from a corner

Watch games from the O'Neil, Strachan and Lennon era

Brendan Rogers might have a game plan for winning against lesser teams and players but you are judges on beating better teams and players.

1.) 17 Feb 2019 14:21:44
Jonace our set plays since Brendan came in are awful for all I love the man we just don't ever look like scoring from a set play think the last one was benk a header from a corner but forget who we were playing.

2.) 17 Feb 2019 14:33:22
Jonace I think Rodgers needs to get the defenders to do there jobs that is defend not think there maldini and run out. give the ball to someone who can play football. prime example bobo balde terrible footballer but wouldn't let anyone past him. When got ball up the park doesn't matter if the player was going with the ball.

3.) 17 Feb 2019 14:36:03
We have been wasting corners and other dead-ball situations for a while and as well as the delivery not being ideal a lot of the time, we severely lack players that attack the ball with any conviction.

4.) 17 Feb 2019 15:58:57
Don't think we have scored from a corner since my son was born and that was 5years ago. before everyone comes out with stats it was just an obveservasion.

5.) 17 Feb 2019 18:21:13
Last stat I can find is 6 goals from 326 corners!

6.) 17 Feb 2019 23:45:49
Big Benko scored with a header for us.

7.) 19 Feb 2019 09:15:49
With regards to our set pieces. In my opinion out of 10 deliveries 8 or 9 of them hit the first defender. The 1 or 2 deliveries that are decent, there is no desire from any of our players to get on the end of them. In years gone by we’ve had players who would kick, punch and bite to beat the opposition to get on the end of a cross.

10 Feb 2019 17:16:36
Sinclair C-lass
Burke E-lectric
Forrest L-ion
Hayes T-remendous
Brown I-nspirational
Toljan C-omfortable.

1.) 10 Feb 2019 17:44:24
Toljan wasn’t comfortable. he was C-lassy 🙂🍀⚽️.

2.) 10 Feb 2019 18:17:01
C-igar and slippers.

3.) 10 Feb 2019 22:01:53
I see what you did there👏.

4.) 11 Feb 2019 14:24:39
Toljan = C - Clapping his hands on Broonies head when he scored 🤣.

31 Jan 2019 21:15:07
I kmow some people are unhappy with our transfers, however look at the ages of whom we have brought in. All of them are young with good potential and some loans may turn permenant. I know people wanted a new CB but we have 6 on the books. A good clear out of those who cannot make the grade is needed in the summer . Thankfully over the next 18 mouths lots of dross have contracts are finished.

1.) 31 Jan 2019 22:09:09
Some amount of apologetic nonsense on here for the board as usual.

No surprise. Lawwells is like Kim Jong un here.

Nobody is saying it means good loans are a bad thing, but why not also pay money and strengthen other positions

Instead come the summer while we need a clearout we will also need about 5 first team Signings.

It's not good enough and anyone telling themselves different is just insane.

2.) 31 Jan 2019 22:19:11
What five first team signings.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 22:24:54
Tessa, take the guys we have got in on Loan for instance. Their clubs actually don't want to sell them for a kick off and most good players in good leagues probably don't want to come to Scotland full time, using the loan system we can bring players in we may not otherwise be able to.

4.) 31 Jan 2019 23:05:16
Not sure how many first team signings we’d be looking at in the summer but for me for a start I’d be looking at 2 CBS and a RB, That’s a must for me. Benkovic, boyata, Compper, lustig, gamboa will all be away I’d think, hendry I’d loan out and get more experience.

5.) 31 Jan 2019 22:59:39
Some will say future planning others will say crap signings. Us football fans are a fickle lot.3 young players signed today along with Brown signing a 2 year deal. Burke Bayo and wee Tim already in and hopefully the RB from Dortmund. That's 8 this window yet it's not good enough for some. Keep the faith🍀.

6.) 31 Jan 2019 23:11:22
Tesla I think you are the insane one sir. Do you honestly think we should be committing to adding more to our already astronomical wage bill? You're living on cloud cuckoo land if you do. Until we get at least a dozen non contributors off the wage bill this is the only way ahead. At least wait until we lose a cup tie or a league title before you whinge about the board.

7.) 31 Jan 2019 23:34:49
I'm sure Lustig natural position is CB is it not? Extra cover for CB if needed.

8.) 01 Feb 2019 00:12:23
Thank God we have an astute CEO running the club and not some of the contributers that we have on here. The loan system works to the advantage of both clubs. The mother club has the advantage of a young player who is unable to break into the first team getting first team experience at a leesser club and in our caase also getting the possibility of champions league football which helps their longterm development and prepares them for breaking into the first team. We on the other hand have a player which we could never afford. let's face it we are talking about the SPFL where, without wishing to e disrespectful to the other teams, is very much a one horse race. I don't think we can compare a spfl winners medal to a undesliga medal, seria a, la liga, EPL etc. Just as our model of buying young players to develop and sell at a profit has stood us in good stead, so to the taking of a higher class of player on loan, Perhaps we should change tactics and sign pensioners at over infflated prices. I for ne am happy with this window at least with the intake, pity we couldn't have sold a few.
with the squad now i think we have a good chance to do the treble treble which for me would even be more impressive than 10league titles in a row when you consider that not even the LIONS managed 2 in a row.

9.) 01 Feb 2019 00:19:24
The only reason we have an astronomical wage bill is because we sign. A million players at the 2mil value who turn out to be terrible.

Jonace we need a goalkeeper, 2 CBs, Right back, Winger at least.

Also Stevie don't make me laugh about winning stuff. Before they died they were doing us in the league. Won 3 in a row because our board make an A of it.

Strachan's fourth season never got him a striker. Lost the league. 3 0-0 draws when our strikers were injured.

Then rangers overtook us from then and won most of the league's until they went bust and that's just facts.

10.) 01 Feb 2019 01:08:04
Celtic puzzle me when it comes to signings they wouldn’t pay the 3million for Mcginn who Rodgers made no secret he wanted (I’m going their again with Mcginn lol)
But they have no problem spending 1.75m on Shved who Rodgers seems to know nothing about.

11.) 01 Feb 2019 06:38:34
Donjim, I don’t think many really bother about signing young upcoming talent and loaning them out getting experience and hopefully getting them into our first team, however I think people have a right to express their opinion ( might not be everyone’s opinion) but still entitled to do so. Celtic fans are entitled to look at us bringing in signings in certain areas that have required attention for long enough that enhance the first team squad right now not just in 2/ 3 years time. I’m like u, happy with the window to an extent but I would still have liked to have seen our CB situation sorted even going back to the summer. What we have now is boyata, benkovic ( Brendan’s no1 pairing ) won’t be there, Compper has never been their, hendry isn’t ready and needs loaned out, jozo is too injury prone, Ajer for me is acceptable and will have a great future. What we have now come summer is a big rebuilding job in defence. 2CBs and a RB is a must as even the German boy will no doubt go back to Dortmund. For me that’s a huge job getting that sorted plus competing to qualify for Europe.

12.) 01 Feb 2019 08:12:14
Tesla explain to me what you would of done in the last 2 Windows? The 5 players you say we need, bearing in mind you don't seem to be prepared to shop in the 2 million bracket would cost around 30 million in transfer fees and that's if we could attract this type of player to Scotland. Their wages would be another 8 million per year and there's still no guarantee they will be a success. Add this to our current wage bill and we would be in serious financial trouble. This is Scottish football Tesla not FIFA 19.

13.) 01 Feb 2019 10:02:19
Telsa is clearly delighted with the £75k superstar from Dundee Glen Kamara😂😂😂😂😂.

14.) 01 Feb 2019 10:18:04
Stevie we have 50 million in the bank.

I'd have signed a CB and RB permanently.

What you also don't seem to get is being ambitious in football can earn you money.

For example if we signed a RB and CB 2 years ago like we needed to then we most likely beat AEK and earn £40mil plus from the champions League.

Instead of having the likes of Hendry playing.

That's just common sense though, but I forgot unless you say everything positive about Celtic then you must be a rangers fan then eh malky?

22 Jan 2019 20:24:30
Can I offer something completely out of the box. If 33yr old SB leaves what about 31yr old Lustig as Capt and Defensive Midfielder.
I know this is strange but before you go of on one think about it.
He is naturally strong tall and good in the tackle. He can play a very good long ball in behind, remember his pass to Dembelle against them.
He could offer a cheap but experinced alterative and BR likes to try players in different positions.

1.) 22 Jan 2019 20:31:57
No, just simply no. But thanks for the suggestion.

2.) 22 Jan 2019 20:42:36
Not a chance to slow can't tackle and we would get found our sorry no for me.

3.) 22 Jan 2019 21:02:30
It's a definite no from me lol.

4.) 22 Jan 2019 21:05:36
Deffinently no have u seen his passing recently Jonace?

5.) 22 Jan 2019 21:11:03
I think your out your box.

6.) 22 Jan 2019 22:59:01
I’d rather have him walking round the outside of the pitch in a police uniform Jonace 😂.

7.) 22 Jan 2019 22:59:01
I’d rather have him walking round the outside of the pitch in a police uniform Jonace 😂.

8.) 22 Jan 2019 23:49:00
Wasn't that pass your talking about not from brown?
Hail hail.

9.) 22 Jan 2019 23:55:30
I've said before and I'll say again that I think he could do a job for us at CB, especially when the summer comes and we find ourselves even weaker there, but I don't fancy him to step into Broonie's shoes at DCM though. Not for me.

10.) 23 Jan 2019 10:34:37
You should be banned from posting for a month after that ludicrous suggestion. Lustig is brutal with the ball and is to frail.

I hear everything people are saying about Hendry, but in his defence he has not been played in his prefered position and without a run in the team nor a regular partner.
Watching Ajer and Siminovic play together I get the feeling this is the pairing in practise matches and in training. They look confortable with one and other likewise Boyata and Benekovic.
He has been played at RB and on right of a three he plays like Ajer in style and physical appearance and i would prefer Hendry or Bitton to Boyata. We have looked much better with ball playing defenders. Boyata may have a role to play in difficult away matches and I would like us to play 3 central defenders at Valencia and Ibrokes and maybe at Pittodrie and Tynecastle.

Defoe? really! Never I would always want a young player instead of over the hill people coming for a swansong, I never liked these signings and i did not believe they helped improved the team long term. In fact i always believed that the manager in these signings was stating his intention to leave.
I would be happy with someone like Jeffery Brumma coming in and Boyata moving out in this window, Then another CH and RB brought in the summer.

Jeffery Brumma would be the perfect replacement for Boyata and maybe, maybe Memcsivic. A proper left footer like McKenna would make more sense as he is a proper defender who does not get pushed off the ball and at 6'6" he is tall and imposing. I have seen posts about his pace but with Brumma beside him a definate possible regular defence.

Going back a long time my father was a ranger therefore he would not let me go to parkhead.
I remember being at the Athletco Madrid game The first old firm maybe the 1978 4-3 game although i am sure i must have been to some before that and i remember the tynecastle game when we came back from 3-1 down at half time to win 4-3 in the last minute.

Porteous is a great shout but unlikely to be allowed to leave offer cash plus Allen and Hayes. and make an obscene offer for Mckenna these two plus Ajer our defensive partership for years to come.
