A very Merry Christmas to Ed007 and all my fellow posters on this fantastic site.
It's been a while since the team and the club were in such great shape and here's hoping for a very enjoyable and successful 2017 - and beyond with Brendan and The Bhoys.

Not to dampen the mood, we will probably have a 'spell " when we don't get the goal and hit the post and bar 6 times

At the moment, I believe we will have bounce-back-ability however, whatever or whenever this happens

that will be the mark of BR and the team, the ability to come back stronger and hungrier

In BR i trust

January will be very interesting

Will we invest " in aggregate " or sell and buy and generate a surplus. It's never dull

Will we invest?

We will know by end January

Enjoy your evening bhoys and ghirls.

Thought we showed a great hunger and desire to come back at fir park couple a weeks ago? Notice you look for a lot a negatives paradisewon but today no a day for arguing merry Christmas you and your family.

Up against the best forward line in the world - including a 'rested' Messi in possibly the toughest CL group there is and although they need a result possibly more than us - I am not worried one iota.
Even if we lose (unless it's a hammering) , I have not felt this good about the direction we are taking and the football we are playing for many years and the mood and positivity within the club and among the support is fantastic.

If anything, I am even more excited about the prospect of BR and the team going for the first trophy of the season to signal a period of success and domination not seen since the 9-in-a-row.
I know we have not won anything yet, but along with confidence and expectation, we have now a manager and team to back it up and with the money raised from this years CL, we will be able to tweak and improve the squad even more and continue to rub shoulders with the cream of Europe, while others can only watch and wish.

1.) 23 Nov 2016 13:46:59
It's certainly about the bigger picture, getting our foot in the door, using the money wisely, becoming CL regulars and attracting better players.

I think the last game, potentially against a second-string side, will be our best chance of Europe after crimbo.

2.) 23 Nov 2016 13:47:35
Bang on the money mate, as long as we give them a go and make a game of it . Make sure the heads don't go down for Sunday.
HH.

3.) 23 Nov 2016 15:09:25
It's a huge ask but stranger things have happened we need 11 celts all performing and working to a high level to get anything and we need to defend well so bring it on HH.

4.) 23 Nov 2016 16:34:36
Forget all the hype, Barcelona are nowhere near the team they once were, they are beatable.

5.) 23 Nov 2016 16:55:48
Aindoh, every team is beatable at one time or other but whether Celtic can win tonight is a very big ask . I certainly feel justified in my mind having Barcelona odds on favourites to win, so that I can still enjoy the game if we play reasonably way and not win.
I notice 007 Inesta is missing and we remember the big difference he made in Barcelona in our first match
I hope all true Celtic fans whether at the match, watching on TV or radio have an enjoyable night and despite the dangerous weather conditions, please God everyone get home safe.

{Ed007's Note - Iniesta coming on changed the entire game that night, Chris.}

When it comes to the mighty Glasgow Celtic I don't care who we play we will always have a chance of winning. Fear nobody, get stuck in n press them high, in their faces from the off, it's only 11 against 11 at the end of the day n so long as the fans r behind the team from the word go I'm confident of getting a result.
Brilliant post from I was 11 in 67, we are bringing in the right type of player now and fans r fully onside, mostly at least, we can only get stronger n the board need to do what they started but didn't finish under Mon, get in the right quality of player be it on higher wages for a free, who cares so long as they r good enough to start n it also helps with competition 4 places. Add that to ensuring we develop n playing our own as that has to be the future.
Here we go 10 in a row can't wait to be in paradise tonight watching the world's greatest ever team, the mighty Glasgow Celtic.
Hail.

Couldn't have asked any more of that Celtic side tonight - apart from Forrest, who offered very little. It was a much better showing than the home game for sure - even with a depleted side.
There were a few missed chances, stray passes and heavy touches, but that highlights the difference in technical ability between Scottish teams/ players and decent European league standard.
There was plenty of effort, graft an possession, but the final ball, shot or deft touch was lacking and more composure, quick-feet and class is required to progress.
There is no doubt we are improving, but we obviously have a way to go at this level, although the damage was probably done in the home tie where we failed to compete or threaten them at all.
It is really frustrating that we have literally had to rebuild teams season by season for the past 5/ 6 years and if we had managed to hold onto even half of our top players, we might have been some side; maybe now BR will be given time/ funds to finish what he has started so promisingly?

1.) 02 Nov 2016 08:09:11
Totally agree mate. Can you imagine the current team with VVD, Forster, Wanyama and even Hooper as a 3rd striker.

2.) 02 Nov 2016 09:05:22
Here we go, let's get stuck into Forrest, don't know what the boy has to do to get a break, the work he does off the ball alone, why just pick him out?

3.) 02 Nov 2016 09:31:23
Cause he and rogic were jointly responsible for the goal. Not the back or keeper. Watch the replay. They just let the mf runner steam straight thru. If your gona be poor tracking back u better be worth your weight going forward like sinclair even PR. Basically he's not as good as the other 2 at beating players yet does not provide cover at the back.

4.) 02 Nov 2016 10:11:41
I thought roberts was far more affective than forrest last night and he only played 20 odd mins.

Would like Roberts to get some more starts.

5.) 02 Nov 2016 10:24:05
You could argue shuvchenko played them onside too.

6.) 02 Nov 2016 10:49:49
Of course Roberts looked good, he came on with pace against a team who had ran for 70 mins, and had a man down.
Rodgers obviously sees something in him, or maybe it's because Roberts belongs to another team, but if your going to knock Forrest, you have to knock every other player who hasn't performed too,

7.) 02 Nov 2016 11:41:23
Tell me what forrest does off the ball? He is so lazy i don't see what other people see in him. He hasn't got the skill of roberts or sinclair to go by people. He made one good run in the second half and thata basically what he did all game.

8.) 02 Nov 2016 13:00:45
What a rediculous statement ya yo, yes every other player ran rings round them, Forrest did nothing. This is a top German side, who are strong, and physical, apart from the very odd Sinclair run, none of our players did anything, so are they all lazy.
Right now, weather you or anyone else likes it, the manager picks Forrest before Roberts, so obviously he doesn't think he's useless and lazy.

9.) 02 Nov 2016 13:42:33
Memaself what's forrest done in the last couple games that has impressed you so much?

At the beginning of the season I thought he was excellent but in recent weeks he hasn't maintained that.

Reading the comments nobody is saying anything other than he didn't offer much. If he watched the game back i think even he would agree.

10.) 02 Nov 2016 15:14:40
Iv made a ridiculous statement? You have just pointed out that it was a top german side an that our players did nothing. So imagine if they did do something last night eh? Would have won 5-1 then. i'm not just talking about last night with forrest he does it week in week out. For the first 6 or so game along with the qualifiers he looked as good as he should be but now that he knows he's a starter we are seeing forrwst for what he was.

11.) 02 Nov 2016 15:57:35
What a load of pish, so if dembele goes 2 or 3 games not playing great, he's useless and lazy too.
Nowadays too many of our supporters turn at certain players. And I think it's out of order. I thought Forrest workrate has been good even though his play hasn't been, and as I say I'll stick with what the manger thinks, and not some person who can't wait to turn on a player, some of you are getting as bad as Zombies.

12.) 02 Nov 2016 16:46:49
So your now admitting his form hasn't been great but as long as he's running about that's ok?

This would be a pointless forum if we only sung the praises of the club and the players.

Maybe he needs a rest or he's carrying a knock I don't know but you can't argue that his form has dipped.
I honestly can't see the issue with pointing that out especially given the fact we've been here before with the player.

If you feel so strongly about player critism I'm not hearing your support for Armstrong and mcgregor who are really getting a hard time.
Did you step up a couple weeks ago when toure was getting it?

13.) 02 Nov 2016 19:41:33
He isn't the only 1 who's form has dipped the last couple of weeks, so what do you suggest drop him, bring in a loan player who will not be with us next year.
I'm not the Forrest supporters club her, but I'm a Celtic supporter, and I'm not going to slaughtered a player cause he hasn't been motm for a couple of games.
Where's the guy who blamed brown for everything last year, probably singing his praises now.

14.) 02 Nov 2016 20:45:35
I don't get your point about brown man!

I've said 3 times now nobody slated forrest they said he was infective in the game which is been the case for the last few weeks.
I'm basing this on the fact that at the start of the season you could argue he was our best player even better than dembele who didn't kick on until the old firm game.
I appreciate he at least gave it a go but he's a winger and he's expected to offer an attacking threat.

If he's off form why not drop him, what is the difference between him and any other football player?
Also why bring in a loan player when we have a 12m one sitting on the bench?

Being a celtic fan doesn't mean you can't call a spade a spade and put blinkers on! Some of the comments on here about mcgregor and Armstrong I thought were out of order but if that's there opinion fans are entitled to it.

15.) 02 Nov 2016 21:21:05
Memaself. his work rates shocking that's what my point is about he's too lazy tracking back an really ineffective going forward. He is a luxury player and most of the time a passenger. Last night and infact any game we don't need passengers. To call me a zombie because i have a strong opinion of a player well mate that is just as low as u get. your an absolute belter.

A bit apprehensive about tonight, as apart from the injury problems - we have this CL away hoodoo that has daunted several managers.
They are no Barcelona, but they showed enough at Celtic Park to emphasize their pace and quality and we need to play better than the first tie and can't afford to make any of these basic mistakes that keep recurring. Our record against German opposition over the decades has not been that good, but we must be due a wee result some time and if everyone plays their part who knows?
COYBIG.

1.) 01 Nov 2016 19:15:32
The pressure was on the last time. We've pretty much been written off after that so they should be able to play with a bit more freedom tonight. I expect a much improved performance at the very least.

24 Oct 2016 10:25:26
Just watching the highlights again and amazed at how we only scored one as we were in control and the only team creating chances from KO and trying to win the game.
Our back four were comfortable and very composed, with young Tierney once again covering every blade of grass, while Scott Brown was running the middle of the park.
Most of the team played very well, although we never turned the superiority into goals; however,
Bitton was a spectator, while Forrest and Sinclair could maybe do with a rest for a week or two?
The stand-out once again was your man Thomson; it's not just major controversial decisions - as you expect at least one or two, but it's the blind eye here and there and constant 50-50 adverse decisions that go on, all game.

1.) 24 Oct 2016 17:51:35
Ya they need to sit wasn't impressed recently with them. We can't let players feel like their place is safe cause with those 2 players it will cause their play to go down.

Hope there is no problem with Roberts BTW him and Rogers (or maybe he knows he won't be here long and is playing players that will be here)

2.) 24 Oct 2016 19:02:22
@11 in 67 - and his failure to book Dembele for diving was turning a blind eye? He definitely got the disallowed goal wrong.

3.) 24 Oct 2016 19:51:08
I prefer PR but I think its a pace thing with BR he likes front players with pace to get up the pitch quick and that's why he goes for JF.
Tho I think with all the games coming up PR will get plenty of game time.

4.) 24 Oct 2016 19:19:23
11 in 67 agree with you on thomson not only the big decisions he got wrong he gave every foul to rangers and barely any to us saw bt put up the stats near the end he gave us 6 fouls and rangers got 16 pretty much any 50-50 and any time a rangers player fell over they got the nod the chalked off goal was laughable and when he booked the rangers player i thought he gave a pen as most probably did i wasn't even surprised i was just thinking wow he got that in good and early.

5.) 24 Oct 2016 21:13:00
Hopefully we will see a few changes on Wed night, not because of poor performances but to give some players a rest.

Don't get this 'marquee' thing. There is a wage structure within the club and gone are the days of spending £6m+ on a player - even though we have a large bank balance thanks to CL qualification.
Prices are very over-inflated - especially in England and the bottom line must be to simply find better players than we have at present, by replacing players who have left or are too old.
The club have managed to find very good players in the past in various parts of the world (like Nakamura, Moravcik, Larsson, VVD, Wanyama and Ledley etc, etc, etc) that entertain the fans bring success, can also earn the club money and don't cost a fortune.

Snodgrass has had real injury problems and I heard he had to go off again in yesterdays match against Man Utd?

I was 11 in 67

{Ed001's Note - it was wet and slippy and he slammed into the post trying to get on the end of a cross. Probably only bad bruising knocking the wind out of him, though a broken rib or two at worst. Nothing to weaken his legs, so it won't affect the longevity of his career.}

I got rid of SLY months ago, but caught the game on my sons telly; Their pundits and panel are all biased and bitter, while the very limited camera coverage denies us in-depth oversight or replays.
They definitely do not deliver value for money in Scotland and BT (especially with big Sutton) provide a far superior service.

We played very well in spells today, although the conditions and the pitch made things very difficult.
A few players are still trying to regain their best form and a couple are returning from injury; but most of them put in a great shift today and 3-0 will not only boost confidence, but it's a pure sickener for many who thought we'd slip up and it's another three points and one game less towards a title.

He's got his flaws like losing possession and stray passes, but on a good day he links up well and can set-up or score a goal and seems to be ahead of GMS and CHristie in the managers plans .
However, I reckon BR will play Rogic and or Armstrong before him when possible and we might even bring in a midfielder or two in the next couple of 'windows' and he is much better than Bitton.
