Typical Gordon blaming others and shouting at them for his OWN mistakes that get him in to trouble and makes himself look dumb!

footy

1.) 26 Jan 2017 11:23:18
just joined but have read the site for ages, gordon over the last season seems to be having more rushes of blood to the head than he normally has.

2.) 26 Jan 2017 11:34:31
It's official Chelsea fancy the big man preparing a bid

3.) 26 Jan 2017 10:19:03
another booking for gordon, he must be close to a suspension?

4.) 26 Jan 2017 12:24:15
You don't equal a record set by the Lisbon Lions if you don't have a decent GK in goal. Considering we got Gordon for free he has been very good for Celtic. If it is true that Chelsea are preparing a bid then I hope Celtic have a GK lined up as it's a very hard position to fill.

5.) 26 Jan 2017 12:27:45
The way the team have been playing this season he has not had very much to do in domestic games and although he can pull off some really good saves at times - he is prone to erratic decisions, bad positioning and panic and has had some real howlers in big games over the years.
he is at the end of his career and 'won a watch' when Celtic came in for him when he was a forgotten man and hopefully this will be his final fling before we bring in a younger, better goalkeeper.

6.) 26 Jan 2017 15:59:57
Chelsea are looking at three new keepers according to sky sports Gordon must be the cheapest option for them sell there number 2 keeper for 10m plus then bring in Gordon for buttons makes sense for them but could we use this to bring in someone who's not playing for them as much I. e Fabbregas (bad spelling) on loan for 18 months or so?

7.) 26 Jan 2017 16:19:29
I for one wouldn't bat an eyelid If Gordon left for Chelsea! Was at the game last nite and twice he done the same thing in the space of 15 min! Ball played back to him on his 6 yard line and twice he made a mess of it! Yes I admit the goalie passing from the back is part of modern day football but this guy just can't do it, and attempts it at the most stupid times!

And when Brendan said he was as good with the ball at his feet as most outfield players I had to have a chuckle! Bring in a young hungry keeper for the start of next season, someone like big boruc! Unheard of at the time but a young hungry confident goalie who turned out to be outstanding! There must be some out there who wouldn't cost the earth

8.) 26 Jan 2017 21:12:34
LH86 - if begovic goes to Bournemouth and Gordon to Chelsea why not take boruc back till we find another one haha

9.) 27 Jan 2017 00:02:39
A was about to make a fresh post about boruc but thought I'd scroll down and see if anyone mentioned him. Me n ma mates have been talking about him the nite, it's 50/50 wae us who wants him back and who doesn't.

i would have him back in a heartbeat. He's 36 so would still have a couple of seasons left in him till we find a replacement, av not seen much of him since he left cos a don't really watch any other fitba other than celtic or European games.

But unless he's piled on the pounds he must still have it. Add to that the memories of his crazy antics and his great saves, a would drive down n get him maself, but a fear the car would get ditched n a wouldn't be seen for days. Come home the holy goalie.

Why the heck does Sinclair take the corners or free kick crosses? He is shiat at them and always puts it at the near post where our players never are. There are clearly better players at crossing and corners.

Ed you know why it's always SS taking corners?

footy

{Ed007's Note - I'd imagine Rodgers tells him to mate.}

1.) 26 Oct 2016 23:28:09
Thought he done ok at Dembele' s first on 10 September!

2.) 26 Oct 2016 23:59:54
Are we not scoring enough. jeeeez, some folk just have to scrape the barrell to get a moan. Cheer up fella.

3.) 27 Oct 2016 02:10:06
Good insight ed, wasn't expecting that ha.

Bhampot
Since corners are a big factor in the game, think you would want to be good at it. not just talking about this game or league but CL and cup tourneys. Not scraping anything, a team works on what they are weak at right?

4.) 27 Oct 2016 05:57:23
Whilst on the topic, he's got a way to go on his finishing too. I'm pleased with how he has been don't get me wrong, but SS should be well into double figures by now some of the chances he's missed. It's pleasing he's getting in those positions though and hopefully it's still just about getting a bit more sharpness.

5.) 27 Oct 2016 07:03:22
Id say were scoring freely from open play more, which is great, so as important as corners are, its not a concern for me just now, but granted, work needs done and i'm sure it is. Jimtim, i would want to rest SS for the odd game here and there. He hasn't stopped since signing, its a high energy game on the wing, but the boy doesn't want rest. That pleases me greatly, and he will be rewarded with plenty more goals.

6.) 27 Oct 2016 09:13:54
I'm sure he will Bhampot, I would think in time the whole team will improve and results like last night can happen every other week, if not more often. I think last night was a good example of squad management. SS and MD i had penciled in for a rest last night looking at the fixture list. They got a rest, but still came on for a bit against a tired side to finish the job. You could see the difference their energy and quality made. That's nothing against the bhoys that started, I would be amazed to see a team with 8 changes play as well together as the 'first team'.

7.) 27 Oct 2016 17:11:37
Funny enough if we had a corner taker who delivered the near perfect corner every time the amount of goals we would score would dry up. Opposing managers would have little bother defending the "perfect penalty" as they would know the area the ball would finish up in and they could defend it .
If u ever watch Match of the Day eFeb though we are watching the best paid and definitely best footballers in the world there are many goals resultibg from miss hit corner kicks.

8.) 27 Oct 2016 18:14:15
What you saying there oldbhoy lol?

28 Sep 2016 23:08:59
Credit to Sutton for saying how English epl league looks down on us yet we are the biggest challange to city who haven't lost. Even though we don't have 1/ 10th of the money they get, all their big names &. shiating on Scottish football, yet we lead city 3 times and it took 2 mistakes that helped them back into the game.

Need more ppl talking up our league and our club! We deserve more respect! They would be scared if we got the money they do.

footy

1.) 28 Sep 2016 23:18:09
It's great to see that BR has a game plan. Maybe he can make Celtic Park a fortress again. Man City are a very good side as we all can see how they are winning every game on the EPL. No one has taken 3 goals off them this season. They are one of the best teams in Europe so we are improving under BR and whilst we won't get 2nd place, Europa league football after Christmas is a big possibility.

2.) 29 Sep 2016 09:17:39
We had our own slices of luck footy, but I agree with what you're saying. What I like most is not that Celtic shocked City, but Celtic shocked me.

28 Sep 2016 20:17:54
Well again CG cost us goals. 1st instead of playing to whistle he thought is was offside and didn't try. 2nd just lies on the ground and let's him just walk around him.

As soon as a goal goes in people was on De vries, so better do the same for CG people on here. That's on top of CG kicking it out of bounce.

footy

1.) 28 Sep 2016 20:35:07
Have to disagree 1st goal Fernandnio miss hit and gordon was wrong footed 2nd goal was a great touch from Sterling to cut back on to his right foot Gordon had no chance with either.

2.) 28 Sep 2016 20:49:26
Utter pish, second goal came from dembele wrong pass and brown extremely weak in tackle. All our problems come from poor first touch and very poor ball retention. That is the class difference in class. And we just scored 😊😊😊.

3.) 28 Sep 2016 20:57:38
Dont know if we can blame CG for any of the goals tbh i wouldn't have expected him to do better.

That's the thing with him tho he never makes a save and I think wow how did he get that.

4.) 28 Sep 2016 21:53:32
I thought Gordon played well
He is a far better shot stopper than the other guy
My only problem is he does not open his mouth
Several times tonight he just needed to call Lustig, Eric or Toure " leave it " and it would have been his ball and panic over.
Now they good stuff
well organized. lustig, Toure, Eric and tierney ALL immense
Rogic1st halt, Bitton what a shift. captains performance from SB
Dembele. keeps getting in position and putting it away
James Forest. revelation. works hard in defense and his final ball getting better
Sinclair great in first half
I would have take a draw before this game with an expectation that we will beat BM at home and get a result away
Europa League after Xmas with a chance to get out of the group stages is a good performance if we can hold it together.

5.) 28 Sep 2016 21:56:59
Footy 😪😪😪.

6.) 28 Sep 2016 22:01:36
Aaaaaaa dembele/ brown mistake was in middle of the park soooooo CG had a lot of time to see the play.

What about that WIDE OPEN net when CG completely missed the cross and dived out leaving only lustic to save the WIDE OPEN net?

If you come on here and say DE vires should have stop every goal in game he has played. even against barca, then complain about CG mistakes and poor play.

The 3rd goal he palmed it right to middle of box, I'd that was DES then you would be on here complaining about that too. so why not CG?

7.) 28 Sep 2016 22:25:40
We've just got a fantastic result against a class team, can we not just enjoy it instead of funding negatives.

8.) 28 Sep 2016 22:32:19
What a lot of sxxt if you think CG was at fault for any of this goals you know nothing. CG has been poor for 20 months and deserved to be dropped but also deserved to regain his place after a poor replacement.

1st Goal - a lucky deflection leaves the Man City player on the penalty spot man on man with 24 ft of goal to aim at CG get down to them?

2nd Goal - sterling runs beating KT superbly switches feet. Beautifully selling both KT and CG as he turns back in himself. CG going down as he thinks he's taking a pop so covering the shot so I don't think lying down as he walks the ball past him is a fair appraisal.

3rd goal - great movement. Should have been cleared better from defence but Aguero gets in takes a pop CG gets down low and saves and pushes out past penalty spot with Nolito runs in. From that angle it's almost impossible to get it round the post. Aguero is 6 yards out and the save is pure reaction. But Stevie Woods will get CG into training on Monday morning to teach him how to flick that one up over the bar next time. Easy.

As for the stoppage time save that was sheer luck. A one handed push over the. At from a deflected shot from 18 yards. That's so easy every goalie should be getting them.

Not saying CG is a great goalie but credit where credits due and get behind the team when they perform like that. They battled played great football and entertained. Yes players made mistake but it's football that happens

There wasn't a bad performance on the park it was a game to enjoy and be proud of yet someone always wants to focus on the negatives.

9.) 28 Sep 2016 22:48:17
The problem lies with Bitton didn't make strong tackle all night does not track back quickly enough. Had wanyama been playing we would havewon 3-0. Yes Dembele got it wrong yes Brown could have done better but you need someone in the centre who could cover the central midfield area.

10.) 28 Sep 2016 23:02:36
Tommobhoy that's the point! Ppl always blame DE vires even when we win, or any other player in the team as Ppl think Celtic have the right to win every game and losing or losing a goal they lose their shiat!

DE vires is always wrong to a lot on here yet CG gets no blame, so I ask why does CG not blamed for every goal like DES? Is it cause he is Scottish?

It was a great game! Not being negative just trying to open Ppl eyes and trying to understand how CG after all these years of costing us in CL and EL gets away with it yet an injured new keeper gets beat by the best team in world and great 1 in 1000 goal on weekend gets slated?

11.) 28 Sep 2016 23:24:50
Footy, think you're missing the point, you don't bring in a replacement who is no better if not worse than the one you are replacing. We all know CG s deficiencies it's just that De vries obviously is not a solution!

12.) 28 Sep 2016 23:50:18
Haha 1 in 1000 Goal. Yeah 1 goalie out of 1000 would have let it in. DDV has been poor his shot stopping and decision making haven't been good. So Craig Gordon as I said deserved to dropped but so did DDV I actually think Leo Fasan should be given a chance as I don't think either is doing enough to be an outright No1.

However your point was CG cost us goals tonight which is ball ox he played well and deserved credit there was even a marked improvement in his distribution. He's not been at his bedt but it's not fair just to criticise for the sake of it. Especially after a result like that. It's even more unfair to criticise just because another player is getting criticised.

Watch the goals again and ask yourself honestly. Would you really have expected him to save any of the goals. He ain't inspector gadget

But hey to quote a typical football cliche. It's a game of opinions.

21 Sep 2016 20:31:40
Typical Gordon! Lucky not get a red! . but he is the better keeper right? . cause he is Scottish is that why?

Des is the better keeper cause Gordon when not gifting the other club goals he is running out of his net to play the ball he has no need for!

footy

1.) 21 Sep 2016 20:45:33
Gordon doesn't catch anything
Poor distribution
Poor positioning
Pushes out shots into danger areas

I was looking forward to seeing how he responded tonight but once again he looks vulnerable.

Does anyone have an honest opinion on Bally or Fasan
I've not seen much.

To early on de vries for me, but if Brendan sticks with him we will need plenty of patience.

2.) 21 Sep 2016 20:52:15
He looks terrified. He panicked and came for a ball he had no need to come for. Under pressure to impress. Also what has happened to Roberts? No where near the player that came to us last year.

3.) 21 Sep 2016 20:54:10
He was lucky but what has where he's from got to do with anything.

4.) 21 Sep 2016 21:33:24
Just trying to wonder if him being Scottish is why people say he is better cause Des is clearly the better keeper even after only 4 or 5 games compared to CG 3 years.

Gordon again blames someone else for his mistake when he kicked it out of bounce with a poor kick! He can never say he was at fault and admit mistakes!

5.) 21 Sep 2016 21:41:16
Obviously seen a lot more than Gordon than De Vries, but I am not keen on either of them as I think they both bring their share of problems to the side and the back four need a better, solid, more confident keeper to unify and cement a decent defensive unit.

6.) 21 Sep 2016 21:55:45
Gordon had another shocker and looks scared on the pitch.
Pushing the ball out into play
Punching easy catches
Coming for balls outside the box when other players have it covered.
I would go with new guy till January.

7.) 21 Sep 2016 23:05:00
I think we really need a good solid no 1 at Christmas . Neither keeper looks any good to me, de vries hasn't made a save since he's been in, Gordon won't come off his line at a corner yet comes out into no mans land for crazy challenges . In all honesty he's been poor for the last two seasons . Apart from his first season when he had done ok, he's been shocking since. Both keepers make our fragile defence even more nervous, they haven't a clue what either keeper will do. Oh for the days of a Forster or Arthur again.!

{Ed007's Note - I don't think you can beat Kirsty MacColl and The Pogues although I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by Slade always gets a party going at Christmas. Sorry ;-)

So the fowards would be Ings, Grifs, Dembele, Sinclair, Roberts and forest a BR fav. That is overpower of talent but can you keep all happy and would they all be starting? Does Sinclair play in mid? I'm sure BR can fit them all in but could cause lil problem. Or is this a move cause they know they won't be able to keep Roberts?

Ed what about vorm from spurs? Wasn't BR looking for a #1 keeper earlier in season. I just can't believe we would turn down 5 mill to keep Gordon. He has been a bit better but still makes dumb mistakes and cost us in Europe.

I'm sure he has targets and could upgrade in nets for CL

footy

{Ed007's Note - We approached Spurs in the summer about Michel Vorm but they said he wasn't for sale and they then gave him a years contract extension in December taking his deal up to summer 2018.
Unless he requests a transfer Spurs are happy with him as their No.2.}

Thought it would be hard to get a point to maybe we can get a draw to we have a chance to win.

We were wasteful and sloppy but on the road and not 100% it was a great result. Mostly frustrated cause we could have won it come the end, by pressing a bit more. We were playing to draw and not win the game when a man up.

We need a new keeper! That's for sure. They kicked it right at him most times, but again he almost cost us a goal by his bad kicking/ decision making, and sucks the energy tight out.

Passing was poor in good areas that could have led to quality shots. Feel sorry for Dembele as his vision and play was let down by lesser players.

Can't believe Armstrong stayed on, he was a let down and wasteful. Rogic could've lasted and be great up a man.

What? Why do people defend CG? Seriously is it cause he is Scottish?

He ran and took out (5 yards. beyond thw box) the player with knee close to the head it was a dangerous play and did NOT play the ball. he is lucky to not get a red. plus this is the 2nd time he has done that. He is a bomb scare and an ambrose in nets. Why does all his kicks go out of bounce or to the other team? cause he is good?

He has a problem and scared to go after the ball inside the box when he has a clear chance at it but when he has no chance and it's outside the box he does not wait and just goes after it leaving net wide open. like in CL earlier that cost us goals. but i guess to you that's a great keeper.
