Has there been any update on wee Shaun joining as a coach and with him being offered the job does that mean that big Kolo won't be joining?

1.) 10 Aug 2017 11:14:41
I read Kolo was talking with the Ivory Coast about being invilved with the national set up.

12 Jul 2017 11:22:12
Ntchem deal confirmed. Welcome to Paradise young man.

29 Jan 2017 15:17:23
A bit disappointed to hear BRB say we might not get any more in. Definitely need another striker

1.) 29 Jan 2017 15:42:12
Same here mate. I was happy with our business in the summer, but was given pelters for thinking we could have done more. This window, I'm happy to get a CDM in (as happy as I can be without having seen the kid) , and whereas it's pointless buying for buying's sake, it would have been nice to see one or two more in, and a few leave. I used this window as a reference point in the summer, waiting for the comments from the manager, and what I predicted has indeed happened. Manager says it's an important window at the start, concedes a wee bit at the end. Hey Ho.

2.) 29 Jan 2017 16:51:51
Think it is definitely the right policy.
If we can't get who we want then we don't waste time and money on someone just for the sake of bringing in someone.

3.) 29 Jan 2017 19:31:02
Maybe I am to optimistic but I still would not rule us out in bringing in another new player before Tuesday dead line the players mentioned may not be who we are really looking at to bring in

4.) 30 Jan 2017 16:54:01
I would rather get rid of the deadwood first before we signed anyone else

From the Mail:-

Celtic offered chance to sign international striker

Celtic have been offered the chance to sign Dinamo Zagreb striker Angelo Henriquez, according to the Daily Express.

The 22-year-old - who spent three years with Manchester United without making a Premier League appearance for the club - is available for around £1m, the Express reports.

The Express adds that Brendan Rodgers hopes to add another midfielder and forward to his squad before the deadline, so perhaps the chance to sign the Chile international may appeal to the Northern Irishman.

1.) 31 Aug 2016 10:26:10
Hope there is some substance to this story this guy scores goals for fun.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 17:06:42
Be well happy with that if it's true!

30 Jan 2016 13:29:48
Hi Ed

Is there any progress on the Ajer situation?

{Ed007's Note - They're still negotiating the fee. Ajer was left on the bench for Start's friendly last night against Bodo/Glimt at the request of CFC so they can't be too far away from agreeing the price. I still think Ajer will stay with Start on loan until the summer.}

1.) 30 Jan 2016 14:27:04
cheers Ed.

{Ed007's Note - No probs mate.}

2.) 30 Jan 2016 15:10:47
Why's that Ed, think we'll just have time to agree a deal but not be able to push through a medical etc? Might be best he stays at Start until then anyway to guarantee game time. This could be a very shrewd bit of business in my eyes. We all remember Freddy Adu, and a player's career that is this young could go either way but in terms of kids his age there can't be that many performing regularly at such a good level.

{Ed007's Note - That's why I think it's a lot of money to spend on a 17 year old, it's a big gamble but it could turn out to be a bargain.}

3.) 30 Jan 2016 18:07:10
Think Ajer will be staying at start if we sign him as he wants to finish school plus he will continue to get game time there.

28 Jul 2017 01:37:26
I know I will probably get dogs abuse for this but I just want to say that a lot of people need to calm down a bit, Yes we had a poor game but it was only our 3 competitive game of the season where Rosenborg were half way through the season.
We will strengthen the team and it will improve. It's funny how some people have seemed to have forgotten that we went undefeated last season.
Also remember our Europa run to the final, We played our best games away from home.

1.) 28 Jul 2017 07:18:21
We had a better team then jonboy.

2.) 28 Jul 2017 09:07:01
thing is we don't have time to to stay calm as far as europe goes, in fact i think we will struggle in norway. in the league we have time plus all the teams are at the same stage in terms of football played but its in europe i would have hoped to have a bit of improvement.

3.) 28 Jul 2017 09:12:23
Said it for yrs now that id rather get a good run in the europa against decent teams than a pumping for 6 games in the champs league. Ppl seem to think about the money in these games more than the games themselves. not realising that a good run in europa would prob be the same dosh as 6 champs league games. And im sick of getting barcelona lol.

{Ed007's Note - There's a massive difference between CL and EL, you don't even get £2.5 million for reaching the group stage and the winner gets about £6 million.}

4.) 28 Jul 2017 09:23:11
I was thinking more along the lines of tv and stadium revenue Ed tbh mate, If we were to get to the QF of europa, would the money be much different to 6 champs league games?

{Ed007's Note - Yes. Even the TV money and advertising revenue take a drastic drop between the 2 competitions, and would we sell out Celtic Park for group stage EL matches?}

5.) 28 Jul 2017 11:04:05
The thing is it doesn't really matter about the money when it comes to strengthening the team. We didn't sign anyone of note when we qualified for the CL last season. It will be the same this season if we're fortunate enough to qualify this year I very much doubt we'll spend any money. That seems to be the common theme.

6.) 28 Jul 2017 10:11:26
I would hope we would sell out Ed, your prob right tho bud, seems the europa is beneath the club to some ppl, Myself ill be chuffed if were still in europe after xmas.

{Ed007's Note - I've been saying it for years, the minimum we should be looking at is 3rd place in our CL squad and drop down to the EL. We'll get the odd year when we finish 2nd and the odd year we finish 4th but I'm with you that any European football after Christmas would be a success to me.}

7.) 28 Jul 2017 10:28:32
I think we would ed and we have the same discussion every year about the cl, I hate it, it's a closed shop solely designed and formatted so only the super rich clubs can win it and we are like beggars tapping at the window looking for scraps , why as Celtic fans do we waste so much time and effort on a competition we won't be a allowed to win, at least in the Europa league as teams like Ajax and Seville have shown, teams with much more modest budgets can go along way . if you told me right now that in the next five years we wouldn't qualify for the cl but we would wrap up ten in a row with 2 or 3 more trebles thrown in, I would snap your hand off, sometimes it's got to be about the glory over the money or what's the point .

{Ed007's Note - I hate the CL for what it has become as well, B but the money seems to be a necessity to progress the Club - although when have we ever spent CL money on the team? We could still have afforded Ntcham, Hayes etc without the CL money. We should be able to splash out on at least one big money, well big money for us, on at least one player a year if we are in the CL. Lawwell has went on about how we could afford a £6+ million player yet we've not spent anywhere near that since MON was here.
Historically we've struggled to sell tickets for the EL group stages but we would sell out a Round of 32 tie. As I said above, 2nd or 3rd in the CL group stage should be our target and I don't see why that's not realistic.}

8.) 28 Jul 2017 11:43:27
I don't think there is any panic or crisis in the support, but there is just a wee bit of concern about the list of injuries and the lack of form, fitness and fluency because of the timing of these qualifiers. We know things will improve and new arrivals will be introduced, but we do need CL football to achieve this and the first leg was a disappointment for all.

9.) 28 Jul 2017 12:31:54
What I noticed Ed is when we reach the CL stages our share price seems to motor up the way. Which would suggest to me they are being "frugal" with it (as in spending)

Factor in few big fiscal investors start of the season and there overview would have been taking the chance on us getting with no domestic threat to re trace the share price downward = safe investment (Y)

{Ed007's Note - Share manipulation! State aid!!}

10.) 28 Jul 2017 12:53:37
Once a bhoy

Couldn't have put that better myself.

We know these qualifiers are always tough when we are likely to draw teams who are 10 to 20 games into their season but they are so important that we need to be fully prepared.

I think the fans are rightly concerned with the usual Celtic mentality where we just "do enough" in the transfer market as opposed to flexing our muscles and REALLY improving this squad. We all know a decent keeper to challenge Gordon is required. We all know we need at least 1 new centre half. We all know Forrest isn't up to it and we need a new right winger. We all know we need another striker as the 2 we have pick up a lot of injuries. Instead we sign a squad player in Hayes and 2 centre midfielders.

11.) 28 Jul 2017 16:11:15
I hope we don't get put in europa league. big factor buying seaon ticket is to watch the team on a Saturday. Hate it if we have to play on sundays cos of the europa!

12.) 28 Jul 2017 18:19:19
seems as though we have been talking about this for years - decades - the lack of prep and the coldness when facing good teams in the qualifying rounds.

we were lucky enough last year against the happy bear shavers, and we will need some luck to get to the group stages this year. There are some good teams and just some teams who raise their game for the big prize. Reading the list of who we may face in the next round - if we get there - some of these guys have had a few seasons of cl fitbaw and are into their seasons.

remember we used to talk about summer football just so our teams would be into our seasons and prepped for best euro campaign.

I agree with ed, at present I would measure success by regularly being in Europe (by any description) after Christmas.

But if we play this wed like we played last wed - and they play 10% sharper in front of goal, we will be out. (I suspect we have the measure of them now and will score over there - think 1 goal will be enough) .

21 Jul 2017 03:04:46
Wee Patrick starting for Man C against Utd tonight.

1.) 21 Jul 2017 21:09:54
he played wing back and nutmegged danny blind.

12 Jul 2017 18:28:56
Wondering if we should go after Jason Denayer. I just read a story where he is unhappy as City want to loan him out again and he is looking for a permanent deal.

1.) 12 Jul 2017 18:54:13
Did you not read what he said after he left us bad mouthing everything.

2.) 12 Jul 2017 19:25:58
I read that he says he found his time to easy but I also read he is looking to move to a club that is dominating and that he is looking to improve which he would do under BR.
CL football could be a big draw along as we were only in the Europa League when he was here the last time.

3.) 12 Jul 2017 19:36:29
He wrongly thought he was too good for us so sod him. Jozo's better. Ajer has potential and here's hoping Duverne or someone of his standard will come in.

4.) 12 Jul 2017 19:43:54
Don't see an issue with him saying he found it easy. He was quite good for us, in no small part due to playing beside Virgil. He does seem to have an inflated opinion of his ability, but he hasn't really set the world alight since he left. Did I not see footage of him trying to cave someone's head in with his boot recently during a street fight? Would rather avoid anyone at that nonsense.

5.) 12 Jul 2017 20:19:52
Although Sunderland were awful last season Denayer was shown up when I saw him, when he was here big Virgil probably made him look better than he was and he was mouthing off when he left, we can find better I hope

6.) 13 Jul 2017 16:13:21
If he bad mouthed us eff him. He's not as good as he thinks he is. We do need a CB though, I'm never calm when either Boyata or Shev are under pressure, or trying a forward pass.

Brendan hopefully feels the same.

11 Jul 2017 15:57:58
Another quiet day. I'm wondering if they are trying to get another deal done and announce them together or if there is a problem with the Ntchem negotiations.

1.) 11 Jul 2017 18:54:54
Don't understand the hold up, surely not going to go wrong now?

10 Jul 2017 15:49:54
Hi Ed, do you have any idea if or when the Ntchem announcement will be made. I would have thought the medical would have been the final piece of the deal and the announcement would have been this morning.

{Ed007's Note - I heard a murmur there was going to an announcement by the Club at 4 pm and I assumed that was Ntchem but it doesn't look likely (it's 5 past 4 just now).}

1.) 10 Jul 2017 16:07:30
Going of his instagram, it's all sorted and the club just need to make their statement.

Excited about this one. Powerful and versatile, good feet, doesn't mind a crack at goal and runs box to box.

2.) 10 Jul 2017 16:10:37
Cheers for that.

{Ed007's Note - No probs, hopefully we hear something soon as everything seems to be done and dusted.}

3.) 10 Jul 2017 16:35:38
Very excited by this and the way Celtic are going about their business, The media are clueless!

4.) 10 Jul 2017 18:47:10
This new signing isn't half dragging on looks like press conference morra hopefully.

5.) 10 Jul 2017 17:46:24
Maybe there is a delay so we can announce him and wee Paddy are signing.
Totally dreaming now.

6.) 10 Jul 2017 20:47:34
Aye thought there could be another signing that's why no announcement but I just think it's celtics way papers and stuff saying the deal is done Celtic just like to make the point that they will do there way that's all.

outstanding performance by the whole team. really impressed with Ntcham, the boy is going to be a huge star.
Also thought Sinclair was looking back to his best.

{Ed007's Note - Those goals will be a huge boost to Sinclair's moral at a time when he was looking lethargic and jaded.}

I honestly hope he sticks with Ajer, he looks more assured and calm on the ball. Erik has been all over the place the last fw games he played, even when we played Linfield he was grabbing and fouling players.
If he plays and does that against Rosenborg they will end up getting a penalty.

Well if Kyle Walker went for £50m, young KT must be on par with him no matter what league he is playing in.

It was a great surprised to see Hayley presenting the game, thought it was great, now we just need Natalie Sawyer as co presenter.
