Hi Ed

I was just wondering if there has been any further news on a defender.
I thought that we might bring in Steven Caulker, do you think this still might happen if we don't sign anyone else before the window shuts as we can sign him after that with him being free.

Thanks for all your work also.

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome buddy. Caulker is training with Luton Town, Jon. The last I heard was that he wanted to stay as close to London as possible to have his family, friends and support network around him to aid his recovery.
The only other defender I know of interest in is Hendry and there will be or has been a further bid made.}

1.) 30 Jan 2018 14:37:06
Cheers ED.
I read on another site that the Dark Side might be interested in him after Wilson left that made me laugh.

2.) 30 Jan 2018 15:53:42
Anyother names for keeper ED? If we try to buy at this late in the game price doubles? Loan would suit best.

{Ed007's Note - Nada.}

3.) 30 Jan 2018 16:27:40
Is he good haha.

{Ed007's Note - Whoa!! That's nearly funny from you, Rich (clap) Well done! :)

4.) 30 Jan 2018 16:35:12
Sorry ED just seen a name for u to check out Martinez Arsenal keeper who is out on Loan story being put out there Leeds also interested ( the Sun )

18 Aug 2017 21:47:55

Is there anything in the rumour that we are interested in Striker Saman Ghoddos or is it just more paper talk.

{Ed007's Note - I've never heard of him but seemingly QPR have had a bid rejected, sorry.}

1.) 18 Aug 2017 23:33:37
When you look at Ghoddos' record it's not really any different than when folk suggest somebody like Louis Moult as backup striker and at least he is tried and tested in our league, which is stronger than the Allsvenskan.

2.) 19 Aug 2017 00:25:22
Goal records aren't everything. The boys only 23 and has earned his first 2 caps, and first goal, for Sweden this year. That suggests he's far superior to Moult. If we buy another striker it either needs to be an experienced player who played at a high level previously or a top young talent from an obscure region such as Africa who could develop into a good player. A 25 year old from Motherwell is not the answer. We have a striker of that ilk and he's just about to head for Plymouth.

3.) 19 Aug 2017 00:40:02
You're right LM, we don't need players for Spl, anybody that comes in has to be CL quality or it's a waste of money as we have àround 20 players that are better than anything else in the spl.

4.) 19 Aug 2017 08:18:55
I hear you, LM. But Moult was about as dangerous as Hayes over the last two years if I recall correctly (not having especially paid attention to either) . Seems a fairly realistic prospect for a job that is always going to be behind the scenes. The fact that Ciftci never got a look in during our injury crises perhaps tells us all we need to know about the recruitment of a new striker, however.

5.) 19 Aug 2017 08:42:11
I'm not saying I want us to get Moult at all btw. My point was that this guy is an unknown quantity and could be a risk (on the other hand he could be a total gem) . LM67, whether you rate him or not, Moult is better than Ciftci. Also the suggestion that a CL quality striker will come to Scotland and be 3rd choice is wishful thinking Stevie. BR has stated we aren't looking for another TOP striker as he couldn't be kept happy.

6.) 19 Aug 2017 09:58:53
Moult may be better than Ciftci, but we've bought the best player outside Celtic this summer in Hayes, who already looks out his depth.

We should be after someone who was once CL quality or someone who can be in the future.

To be honest with Paddy coming back I'm not that desperate for another striker to come in.

7.) 19 Aug 2017 16:45:55
That's fair LM 👍🏻.

8.) 19 Aug 2017 21:58:26
New to group but followed for a while, first time posting, like the look of lad ghoddos lighting fast and knows where the goals are, think he'd be good for us, don't see anyone better in Scotland Ps who is ed, everyone seems to ask him advice.

9.) 20 Aug 2017 12:44:11
Site Editor 007, Pedro. Welcome aboard.

09 Aug 2017 18:57:44
Has there been any update on wee Shaun joining as a coach and with him being offered the job does that mean that big Kolo won't be joining?

1.) 10 Aug 2017 11:14:41
I read Kolo was talking with the Ivory Coast about being invilved with the national set up.

12 Jul 2017 11:22:12
Ntchem deal confirmed. Welcome to Paradise young man.

29 Jan 2017 15:17:23
A bit disappointed to hear BRB say we might not get any more in. Definitely need another striker

1.) 29 Jan 2017 15:42:12
Same here mate. I was happy with our business in the summer, but was given pelters for thinking we could have done more. This window, I'm happy to get a CDM in (as happy as I can be without having seen the kid) , and whereas it's pointless buying for buying's sake, it would have been nice to see one or two more in, and a few leave. I used this window as a reference point in the summer, waiting for the comments from the manager, and what I predicted has indeed happened. Manager says it's an important window at the start, concedes a wee bit at the end. Hey Ho.

2.) 29 Jan 2017 16:51:51
Think it is definitely the right policy.
If we can't get who we want then we don't waste time and money on someone just for the sake of bringing in someone.

3.) 29 Jan 2017 19:31:02
Maybe I am to optimistic but I still would not rule us out in bringing in another new player before Tuesday dead line the players mentioned may not be who we are really looking at to bring in

4.) 30 Jan 2017 16:54:01
I would rather get rid of the deadwood first before we signed anyone else

Any chance the game is off tonight?

{Ed007's Note - I don't know what the weather's like in Glasgow but in deepest, darkest Hamilton it's snowing but it's not lying.}

1.) 04 Apr 2018 14:18:55
Cheers Ed.
I'm In Bathgate and it is heavy and lying, I just wasn't sure what the roads were like through Glasgow.

{Ed007's Note - Someone closer to CP than me will know, Jon. Is it bad through there? It's snowed for two days and there's nothing white at all here, which is a bit strange but that's Hamilton for you :-D

2.) 04 Apr 2018 14:23:16
Just in from dog walking duty, freezing a wee bit sleety but i would not see it affecting the game. But let me stress its FECKN FREEZING wrap up.

3.) 04 Apr 2018 16:10:56
perfect weather a bit of zip on the ball gets the passing going.

4.) 04 Apr 2018 16:57:02
Hi Jonbhoy Bathgate bhoy also, snows never let up but just going to leave a good bit earlier, get our dinner in pizza hut, and camp out on the m8 on the way home.

5.) 04 Apr 2018 17:31:20
Drive careful mate and enjoy your dinner HH.

6.) 04 Apr 2018 17:40:00
That's because Ed anything WHITE out there never lasts long mate pmsl.

{Ed007's Note - It just magically gets hoovered up. :)

7.) 04 Apr 2018 18:34:47
Just got here from Livingston and there's not a flake of snow anywhere near or around the ground. It's wet and cold though.

8.) 04 Apr 2018 17:57:25
And nobody NOSE why :-P.

{Ed007's Note - You'd think someone would take a crack at solving it.}

9.) 04 Apr 2018 22:46:20
It is more sleet than snow where I am, which is not that far from Parkhead. Was also up in Castlemilk with the kids today and was the same.

I very much doubt the game is in jeopardy.

28 Feb 2018 06:49:52
Anyone heard if the game tonight is in danger of being called off.

1.) 28 Feb 2018 07:46:49
Would think it’s a certainty to be called off Jon.

2.) 28 Feb 2018 08:32:34
Welshoy and others travelling a distance, hang fire as Glasgow under inches of snow, Celtic have undersoil heating but roads bad, and Dundee probably worst, cannot see game going ahead.

3.) 28 Feb 2018 09:00:55
Can’t see it going ahead.

4.) 28 Feb 2018 09:16:41
Hibs game off.

5.) 28 Feb 2018 11:02:35
Games off.

16 Feb 2018 06:53:22
Thought the team selection and tactics were spot on tonight. Maybe now some people will relax and get off the managers back for a while, well at least until Sunday.

1.) 16 Feb 2018 07:47:55
It's hard not to criticise when you have to regularly this season see the team struggle past what can only be described as mediocre opposition. Last night was really good from our team and if we can get more performances like that then there will be less to moan about with regards the players/ manager. The players and manager will rightly get praise today but I want similar effort against at Johnstone on Sunday and the same every week it's what we deserve.

2.) 16 Feb 2018 10:14:40
Have to say I was questioning the team selection when I saw it but I ended up eating humble pie! Thought Ntcham and Kouassi were outstanding apart from Ntcham's set pieces. Lots of people were questioning the defence well last night answered a lot of doubters!

29 Jan 2018 11:31:25
Hi Ed
Just wondering with these kind of loan deals, is there ever anything in the contract that states the player has to play so many games.
I think I remember when Rodgers came in it took wee Roberts a while to get into the team.

{Ed007's Note - With players like Musonda and Roberts there will be stipulations about game time but they will be flexible taking things like fitness and form into consideration.}

1.) 29 Jan 2018 11:59:13
Cheers Ed.

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome, Jon.}

2.) 29 Jan 2018 12:06:32
I don't think any team would take a player on if they weren't prepared to play him. The actual number of games would then be dependent upon how well that player performs. If there was a stipulation that was binding regarding actual games then it makes a mockery of the managers prerogative to select the best team.

There would be an understanding that the player is moving to develop. But, to suggest that they are guaranteed a certain amount appearances is nonsense. If a player came and was a compete disaster there is no way a club would be forced to play him.

With Charlie it is highly unlikely that he would not be given a chance. Look at Roberts, it took a while for him to be used and that was solely down to Rogers deciding at that time not to play him.

He goes to get experience, but, he only gets that if he proves he is worthy of a spot in the starting line up. Stipulation suggests they pick our team, they don't. We wouldn't go for a player we didn't think added to the tam and will be goven a chance to prove that. if they fail, then no stipulation would over ride the fact they aren't performing.

Stipulation is too strong, an understanding that he will be given a chance is a given. But as Ed says, that's dependent upon form and fitness.

I cannot see charlie being denied game time. Whether he keeps getting it will be down to his performance and not by any agreement to give him a certain amount. Why would a team go for a player they weren't prepared to play. Especially if we are paying good money to have him.

If h is a quarter as good as he looks on video then he will play most if not every game if he avoids injury.

cannot wait to see the boy play.

3.) 29 Jan 2018 12:23:25
Pretty much an over exaggerated description of what ED said then?

4.) 29 Jan 2018 13:11:03
In football manager the loan contracts usually stipulate what role the player will have in the team, e. g. Key Player, First team, Rotation, Backup etc.

They also detail what % of the wage you pay if the player plays and a % they get for not playing. Usually the % for not playing is greater than the % for playing, which means you have an incentive to play them.

There is no clause that they need to play a certain amount of games. While this is just a game I think it is probably a decent reflection on reality.

However, I admit that I don't have any first hand knowledge of player's actual contracts.

5.) 29 Jan 2018 18:22:47
Stipulation, if you look it up is a prerequisite. There is no prerequisite for the number of appearances, so you five can do one. :)

It was the stipulation aspect I was questioning.

6.) 29 Jan 2018 19:24:45
You may want to learn to count as there are only four posters above (Jonbhoy71, Ed007,Jonbhoy71 and RodgersAtWork) . Somehow, I doubt you were including yourself as one of the five.

7.) 29 Jan 2018 19:45:09
It said five on my PC.

8.) 29 Jan 2018 20:16:06
So you can't even count to five and rely on a computer telling you the answer?

It would appear you also have a problem with comprehension as I never claimed there was a clause that stipulated the number of appearances a loan player must make. Here are my words verbatim "There is no clause that they need to play a certain amount of games".

For the record neither did bravetart86 or Jonbhoy71.

How many times has Rogic pulled us out of a hole?
Maybe you have forgotten about the last minute winners or goals that have pulled us back into the game, does that not show you desire or do you show more desire if you just run about like a headless chicken for 90 minutes he is also in my opinion the most skilful player we have in the squad.

He may not have the speed of Sinclair, Forrest or Roberts but his close control is second to none. Just as his goal at the weekend showed.
As Stephenm mentioned also, how many other number 10's do you see doing a lot of defending. If he goes in the summer, I hope young Musonda is as good as everyone seems to think as he will have huge boots to fill.
Here is a wee video with just a couple of his last minute winners

I think you are right OaB, I think he has arranged something in the hope that Sevco get second above the Sheep and then he would take over in the summer.
The only problem was he didn't think Hibs would be such a challenge.
He is the biggest bottle merchant in management. If I was the Aberdeen chairman I would show him the door and give Steve Clarke a call.

The one thing I really like about BR is, in the past he has admitted that they always train the week before a Rangers game as if we play with 10 men and it showed the last game at Ipox.
Brendan will have them all tuned in, not to give the ref or linesman any kind of chance or excuse to send someone off. also again they have been in the papers about how they want to win a treble and how morelos will score against us, let them talk.
we will do our talking on the pitch.
