If there are numerous teams interested in dembele with the likes of chelsea, milan, dortmund etc then why shouldn't we have an auction rather than accepting the first big offer. Even if we get an offer of say 20/ 25 million id knock it back. Sick of us selling players on the cheap. I do appreciate we only paid 500,000 for him but if these teams are serious about him let them bid against each other and let the fee rise.

I don't believe there is any concrete bid in for Dembele. Speculation only.

It's hard to be too critical of the players given the season were having but some players performance's have been way off the boil the past few weeks especially the two main front players dembele and Sinclair. Both have been outstanding this season but maybe a wee rest or rotation is needed. maybe this international break will do them both good but I'd like to see wee Griffith's getting more game time. I know he's been criticized by Rodgers and he's been injured but this guy scored a barrell load of goals last season and for me deserves more game time. unless of course his attitude beging the scenes isn't good but reports recently suggest he's taken the criticism on the chin and in a positive way.

Agree about griff garry def deserves mire time moussa last few games has looked jaded as has sinclair but a think we're missing that wee bit of creativity in the last third and hopefully rogic stays fit till the enf of tbe season.

2.) 20 Mar 2017 09:39:02
Said as much in the live-chat yesterday. They all have had exceptional seasons with guys like Lustig, Brown, Tierney and Armstrong consistently solid, while Forrest and Gordon have gone up a notch or two in many of the games with Simunovic and Boyata showing great potential.
Sinclair and Dembele have put us where we are today with their goals and creativity where Rogic and Roberts have similarly their part when they have been available.
The break comes at a good time to rest and recharge - apart from maybe those involved at international level?

3.) 20 Mar 2017 10:05:03
Mallythetally, definitely agree with lack of creativity in the last third. Hopefully rogic will be back after the international break, definitely brings more to the team with him in it. As for Griffith's, like i said just think if he's fully fit then there needs to be game time made available to him, especially when the likes of Sinclair and dembele look jaded in games.

4.) 20 Mar 2017 10:57:28
And the thing is griff will be really fresh and hungry so no brainer for me.

5.) 20 Mar 2017 12:24:30
What about this team for the semi.

Gordon

Sviatchencko Boyata Simunovic

Forrest Brown Armstrong Tierney

Roberts Dembele/ Griffiths Sinclair

What's your thoughts guys?

6.) 20 Mar 2017 12:49:05
Can't see Rodgers playing without a recognised right back wether it's lustig or gamboa. Hopefully rogic will be back for it and going on how things have gone this season i think dembele and Sinclair will play with Griffith's on the bench again. personally I'd play Roberts before Forrest, i know Roberts will likely be going back to man city but at this moment he's still a Celtic player and has been for the last year and a half. forrest has had a great season compared to previous seasons but i must admit i prefer wee Roberts on the wing.

7.) 20 Mar 2017 13:33:06
This would be my 11 if Rogic is available.

Gordon

Lustig Boyata Simunovic Tierney

Roberts Brown Rogic Armstrong Sinclair

Dembele.

8.) 20 Mar 2017 14:45:21
That would do for me stan.

9.) 21 Mar 2017 18:17:13
Sviatchenko is far too much of a liability. Has no control over back post and there seems to be distinct lack of communication with Lustig.

Heard Chris Boyd is giving his opinion in a rag today in the Craig Gordon / Chelsea situation. He reckons if Gordon and Chelsea want a deal to be done Celtic will have no say in the situation. Does he not realise Gordon's got 6 months on a contract with a further years option which Celtic will definitely act on which does give Celtic a say on if he goes or not and how much he'd go for aswell. Gordon will only go if the club get a fee they believe to be his worth and no less.

Garry

It either called "playing to the masses" or "desperation".

We all know what clubs this clown supports so I wouldn't expect any less. Said "clubs" intentionally!

2.) 29 Jan 2017 11:01:41
Why do you even read that rag let a lone kris ( the pie man) boys. He should worry about his own club than trying to spout his urine about our great club.

3.) 29 Jan 2017 11:07:35
who listens to that hun arse?

4.) 29 Jan 2017 11:52:23
PMSL jamesbhoy. Sometimes you've just got to be blunt.

5.) 29 Jan 2017 12:18:25
It's funny how monster munch only gets a mention these days because of his idiotic ramblings in the daily rag.

It's a desperate attempt to cling to fame and as a professional footballer you would expect him to be doing his talking on the pitch.
But with monster munch the "professional footballer" thing seems to be just a title although not surprising is it considering his track record.

6.) 29 Jan 2017 09:43:23
I think that BR underestimated Gordon and that he is shitting himself in case he goes cause that only leaves us with Doris and Fasan wae nae time to get in another that they will spend the rest of the window either looking for a keeper or getting new deal for Gordon sorted out rather than getting in a number 10 which he is really wanting?

7.) 29 Jan 2017 13:12:40
@tick67 - he's just done his talking on the pitch by scoring the fastest SPFL goal ever. And your 2nd least favourite Killie staff member, ' big elbows ' has talked up the young boy Ajer as a star in the making. No agenda here except in your mind.

8.) 29 Jan 2017 13:57:06
UJ your not putting forward the strongest of arguments if I'm being honest.

The fastest goal you say? What's that no4 this season? Your right that is certainly talking to me although we may differ on the message. I can count 5 maybe 6 times alone this season boyd has taken a pop at celtic.

Thank big elbows btw he's really gone up in my estimation. Tell me why would he sing the praise of a player he's just signed on loan hmmmm!

29 Oct 2016 06:46:04
Totally gutted about the injury to KT. He's the brightest prospect to come out of Scotland in many a year. Just hope he makes a full recovery with no long lasting affect 's and gets back to the top of his game.

Ed, any idea what mccarthy's contract situation is at Everton? Thanks.

Garryc

{Ed007's Note - His contract runs till 2020.}

1.) 24 Oct 2016 21:33:40
If we do sign him and I think it is a big if, I hope we are not really disappointed with him
He has been very poor for the R O I.

2.) 24 Oct 2016 22:07:51
Think McCarthy would be a great signing, but don't understand how it would happen, with the even more obscene wages they get down in England than the obscene wages they get up here, if its a loan deal how much of his salary would Celtic have to pay?, on the point about Scott Brown, I've always thought he is one of the best signings that we ever made, think you can put down last years performances because we had Ronnie ( I don't know what I'm doing) as manager.

3.) 25 Oct 2016 10:41:21
I don't agree that McCarthy is good enough to take us to another level. His value us overblown due to the money available in EPL.

I think signing him, even thinking about it to be stupid. He's a good player. He isn't a great player and fir the money in fees and wages would be much more than he contributes.

If that type if money is to be spent there are better players in other country's who would be a step up.

Id be quite happy with 2 maybe 3 signings of as good a quality as we can attract to scottish football. One of those signings for me must be wee paddy roberts providing man city and roberts himself are willing to make it happen. Just as important as new signings, we must try our very best to keep our main assets ie wee tierney, dembele, armstrong etc. If we can do that then i think most fans would be over the moon.

If celtic can get a perminent deal done with man city for roberts in my opinion it would be one of the most exciting signings we've made in many a year. This boy really is something special and at his age has all his best years still ahead of him. Come on celtic, make this happen.

Are u serious about Kenny miller's tackle? Just as well for Armstrong that miller wasn't closer to him or it could've been a leg breaker. That tackle didn't have to connect to warrant some sort of card action, miller went in a good foot off the floor with both feet in the air, studs showing. It was a terrible attempt at a tackle. Like i said, just aswell it wasn't closer to Armstrong or he'd have had a right sore one. As for the non penalty at the end, your right it should've been a foul outside the box which wasn't given so play continues into the box and hill gets nothing on the ball and there is contact on Griffith's. When a player comes out at the end of the game and tells the opposition manager and also gives an interview saying he got away with one then that in itself tells u that it should or could have been given. I agree though about the end result, a draw probably was fair, rangers played as well as they probably could and Celtic barring Craig Gordon never turned up. I just hope this result gives the players a good kick up the arse that's needed. Poor first 60 mins against st mirren last week and a poor 90 mins yesterday, we still have a lot to play for this season. The Scottish cup for a start and the unbeaten thing. If Celtic want both on top of a title win and league cup win then they'll need to up the performance levels to a much higher standard than the last 2 performances.

Unless Rodgers has a quality goalkeeper in mind to bring in I'd be tempted to offer Gordon a better deal than he's currently on. I know not everyone is a fan of his but he's the best we've got at the moment. He's certainly not flawless but I do feel his game has improved from last season. We certainly shouldn't be entertaining £3 million bids for him. Chelsea's are loaded and keepers can play till they're nearly 40.

If the wage was £30/ £35 grand a week kevbhoy I can get that. I'd expect to pay that for a premiership players wage no probs. Just couldn't see the £50 grand mate.

For me Gordon's definitely at fault for the second goal. Great cross granted, but for a ball to be in the air that long from that distance he's got to come off his line and collect that or at the very least punch it clear. Gordon must be at least 6ft 5 before jumping and extending his arms. I bet he was sitting last night himself thinking he should've came for that cross.

Couldn't agree more ED, Celtic must do all they possibly can to get this boy on a permanent deal. He won't get anywhere near the first team at city, purely down to the money they have and the season they've just had. I'd imagine they'll spend mega in the summer. Like u i think the big factor in it will be if Roberts is willing to hang around in Scotland for another 2/ 3 years, which given his age, given guaranteed first team football, European football and winning trophies, i think it would be a good fit for him. Here's hoping.

Garryc

{Ed007's Note - There was talk a while back about another loan so we know at least the clubs are talking about him but I'd rather get a permanent deal done to let us make money in the future. We could always offer City a buy-back clause or even a percentage of the future fee because he would certainly go for a big fee if he keeps progressing, especially with CL exposure.
Rodgers signing a new long term contract will also help him decide, he knows how the manager works and exactly what's required from him in a Rodgers team so there would be minimal disruption to his progression as a footballer and he's already settled here in his personal life so no disruption there either.}

It was a ridiculous tackle from halliday on wee Roberts and if your looking for consistency then if browns is a red last week then that tackle is a straight red every day of the week.

The media/ pundits can say what they like about Celtic appealing browns red card. The bottom line is there's an appeal process in place to be used and Celtic won't be the first club to use it in order to get the offending player available for the next game. Just for the record, like another post said, the ref was initially going to his back pocket for the yellow card until all the pushing and shoving started, then he seems to change his mind and goes to his chest pocket and pulls out the red. It was a rash challenge but have seen worse. The whole thing came from that horrendous decision from the ref for the penalty.
