Earlier posts on this site this morning implied that G Taylor had decided to sign for us and this was greeted with 'Great news' comments.
I do not see any confirmation of this anywhere?
30 Mar 2025 22:29:31
Anyone convinced that Kyogo will end up playing for the Bhoys once again?
I thought if things didn't work out for him he'd try his luck in the USA and get sunshine and a good financial deal.
1.) 31 Mar 2025 12:49:59
Unlike Jota who left on a high, I think Kyogo was on a steady decline compared to the standards he set in his first 2 seasons. Now we have Maeda playing out of his skin with Idah as back-up and I don't see any way back unless our squad changes drastically in the summer and even then it would probably be a non-starter.
{Ed007's Note - Kyogo's behaviour & attitude since he told Rodgers he wanted to leave has left a sour taste in the manager's mouth, there is no way he would take him back.
Why would anyone want to bring back a player that couldn't wait to get out & forced a move away at a crucial point in the season, a player that was declining in quality, a player who was carrying an injury that he refused to get operated on?
And I couldn't bear to go back to hearing all the "Best since Henrik" garbage!}
2.) 31 Mar 2025 15:11:11
Talking about Larson mate who would you say has been the best since he left. Mb Griff if the boy screwd the nut not sure to b honest.
{Ed007's Note - From the first few games watching Kyogo I said he was never an out & out striker and I always said he wasn't good enough to be Celtic's "main man" up front. Kyogo hasn't got that natural poacher's instinct which the amount of sitters he missed highlighted so for that I'd have Gary Hooper, Scott McDonald, Dembele and Edouard over him any day but I think for 2/3 season Leigh Griffiths - a player I never wanted us to sign - was in front of them all as an all round striker. LG could score from anywhere in & around the box, headers, free-kicks the lot, it's just a pity how things turned out at Celtic for him.
Just imagine how many goals someone like Hooper or LG in his prime would have scored under Ange's system and Rodgers' when it's clicking.}
3.) 31 Mar 2025 15:44:29
No chance imo. It was the right player and the right club at the exact right time when Ange came in. Rodgers will have something new in mind moving forward.
4.) 31 Mar 2025 23:11:04
No chance do I want him back, If a player is that desperate to leave then let him stew.
Also I mentioned in another post that in his time here he was only the top scorer at the club in 1 season which isn't good enough if you are the main striker.
5.) 01 Apr 2025 17:41:00
So hopefully everyone is stopping creaming their pants over the greatest fraud of all GG who couldn't wait to get out and join a backwater league at the "peak of his powers".
6.) 02 Apr 2025 16:05:34
Not for me. He wanted to leave and give himself a chance to force his way into Japan's world cup squad apparently. That's since failed miserably so he won't be welcomed back with open arms. He's the wrong side of 30 too. There are better options out there that will benefit the club in the long term.
7.) 03 Apr 2025 12:55:14
I wouldn’t want Kyogo back for a few reasons, first of all, his on field standards have dropped and we need better as our ist choice striker. Maeda is playing better as a striker than Kyogo has played this season or last . But many think we need Maeda on the wing for his incredible work rate . .
I can’t believe Board and manager were happy with the timing of his leaving us, mid season whilst still in Champions League .
To me, the most important aspect, is that we already have bought back 2 players after we sold them . I think that is rather unusual in the game I would hate us to do this more often as it’s a reputation that we don’t want to have . It would be bad if clubs stopped buying from us because they thought that they would lose money because players we sold kept talking about returning to us at a very great financial lost to club that bought him from us originally.
8.) 03 Apr 2025 21:29:50
Kyogo is by some distance the best forward since Henrik, it's unfortunate we have a manager who doesn't, I mean didn't know how to set the team up to get the best out of him, the stench of double standards in this stream is overwhelming, Rodgers left in much worse circumstances than Kyogo, talking about sour tastes in mouths, how many mouths did Rodgers fill with bile when he left, but now it's a big love in for him, that's how politics works, they know the masses, us, have short memories.
9.) 03 Apr 2025 22:40:02
It was the board and the manager, that facilitated his leaving, they, I mean Rodgers looked at getting 10 million for him, as a way of balancing the books, after wasting 9 million on Idah.
10.) 03 Apr 2025 23:08:20
His contract wasn't up, why did the board let him leave?, why did the manager sanction it?, because he is not Rodgers type of player, he is a free spirit, he does not want to follow systems, he wants to play the match as the match develops, he is a natural, that is what is wrong with Scottish football, young players are not being allowed to play the way want, the way they feel, they are being over coached, and not being allowed to develop their natural abilities,
11.) 05 Apr 2025 01:26:25
I can’t believe what I am reading about the free spirit who left us in mid -season and still very much involved in Champions League .
It’s agreed by most people that when a player pushes hard to leave, wise managers and board usually agree to let him go, as they don’t want an unhappy player interfering with the firs team squad harmony and and togetherness
BR wouldn’t be as highly regarded as he is in UK football, if he had relied on our ist team’s tactics to be based solely on getting best possible service to a striker and not using the best skills of our other attacking players to create and score freely . Kyogo never played as a young player under BR and he given the freedom to play all over the pitch . The seasons that he scored heavily under Ange, ” his free spirit “ wings were severely cut as he played on the shoulder of the last defender . BR tried to improve his skill and participation in match by having him on the last defender’s shoulder, as well as coming short for ball and releasing another attacker who when he played ball in Kyogo would be in his key position.

Celtic should add another Treble to their trophy haul this season.
1.) 10 Feb 2025 12:21:42
This will be our 8th consecutive season in front of supporters, that Celtic have won at least 2 domestic trophies from the 3 available.
2.) 10 Feb 2025 15:17:13
Never take a treble for granted, our recent record in cup competitions is incredible, just look at that lot or Liverpool this weekend to see how easy it is to get knocked out a cup. If we win a treble, even from this position, it’s an amazing achievement.
3.) 10 Feb 2025 15:47:44
Lot of football to be played still.
01 Feb 2025 20:32:11
Our efforts to bring in a new striker are intriguing - who is it going to be?
Any decent leads?
1.) 01 Feb 2025 20:56:06
Mr NOBODY.
2.) 01 Feb 2025 21:45:59
I've been thinking in my head for a few weeks now 'I bet he goes for Iheanacho, I bet he goes for Iheanacho'. I've just seen a link to Iheanacho. We could go for Iheanacho.
3.) 02 Feb 2025 07:47:18
I still believe we will bring someone in at striker and LB but it might be 2 loans, possibly with options to buy in both.
4.) 02 Feb 2025 08:01:03
We either need a new striker to replace kyogo or move maeda to striker and get another winger.
However, I don't want us to overpay for one because of desperation and would prefer a loan if that was the case. Preferably with an option to buy.
5.) 02 Feb 2025 13:19:07
Shankland has started scoring again, just saying!
I see a Fletcher / Flood scenario playing out.
Hopefully after the game tonight we will hear of a few deals.
27 Dec 2024 13:06:46
Apart from KT, does anyone think they know for sure who we are looking at / considering in the forthcoming window?
1.) 27 Dec 2024 14:05:28
Are we really looking at KT or is this just lazy journalism?
2.) 27 Dec 2024 15:35:53
I don't know, the reasoning is, he is 27 in his prime, big talent with huge experience, loves Celtic, knows Celtic inside out, will not cost us a fee and this fact will offset his personal terms. Loads of pros but who knows?
{Ed007's Note - In his prime ??
3.) 27 Dec 2024 17:13:12
Ed, Kenny Dalglish went to Liverpool aged 26 1/ 2 yrs, in his prime.
{Ed007's Note - KT's prime was between 3-5 years ago, KT turns 28 in the summer, he's in the later stages of his career and will probably be retired or thinking about it in 3/4 years time because of the injury problems that have ravaged his body for years.
The only reason any Celtic fan wants KT to return is because he is KT and played for us before, he is nowhere near the level of player he was even when he left us, this is a rumour/signing driven solely by sentimentality - or birthday caird pish to put it another way.
If this was any other player at KT's age and with his injury record the support would be questioning the manager, the scouting department, Tisdale, Nicholson and even probably Peter Lawwell would get dragged into it.
It goes against the entire ethos of the Club & player trading model we use and it goes against the type of player Rodgers has said he wants.}
4.) 27 Dec 2024 19:24:56
The only way signing KT is a pay as you play. But can't see that being a goer. We can get better, hungrier and younger.
5.) 27 Dec 2024 23:12:10
Comparing Dalglish to tierney ?? surely your at the wind up.
6.) 28 Dec 2024 01:19:35
Fact is that Tierney without the injuries wouldn't even be in our stratosphere, ccv best defender we’ve got has been plagued by injuries but when fit he’s best by far we’ve got. Way i look at tierney signing is we manage his game time and if all goes well got a LB and CB who is genuinely world class when fit and loves the club and future captain when mcgregor decides to go or hang up his boots. Anyone moaning about wages etc who cares leave that rubbish to the board he’d run through a brick wall for us that's good enough for me. If taylor doesn't want to be back up or wants away can see this happening tbh.
7.) 28 Dec 2024 10:59:14
Get your point mate and take on board your comments about keeping him fit he would do ok for us but in my opinion he’s never been world class, in fact a would say he wasn’t good in Europe for us even in the pub league he got found out and was targeted often by opposition. Diehard are the McGregors n Forrest’s not Tierney, let’s move on am sure some of our posters have other suggestions.
8.) 28 Dec 2024 11:40:55
He splits opinion but in his prime he's as good a lb as I've seen and I've seen a good few, if and it's a big if he can stay fit and give us 25 games a season then for me it's a no brainer, agree with Ed unfortunately can see Jim retire early but dearly hope am wrong. regards leaving the club he's not alone they all leave so we can't beat him for that.
9.) 29 Dec 2024 17:32:14
Whatever the story is with KT, we potentially have a problem at LB come June.
GT could well be out of contract and leave, Valle will likely be back in Spain, and, to my knowledge, I'm not aware of any youngsters at CP who can step up?
I'm sure this is top of BR's list and as always, I'll watch with interest.
☘️ ? ☘️.
10.) 29 Dec 2024 17:35:03
Agree with you Mally ?
One think I would add, GT played the best football of his career under AP and that was nowhere near the player that KT is.
☘️ ? ☘️.
11.) 02 Jan 2025 00:25:08
If we signed K T it would be a year down the line before we know he could stay fit and give us 25 games a season . Of course KT is a far better lb than G T but having said that, if we were satisfied with KT playing 25 games per season any other lb would be better than him in approximately 35 games.

Thanks team, no flat ending at Tannadice, fine passing and finishing in the manner of true champions.
I hope Jota recovers quickly because I dreamt recently that he ran amok in the Cup Final - hope I have not jinxed him!
1.) 26 Apr 2025 21:11:20
No way Jota will be fit, definitely out for the end of this season.
19 Apr 2025 21:12:28
Craig Gordon is still a very fine goal-keeper and I always felt we let him go too soon.
Keeping Craig was a better option than paying the reported £5 mil for Barkas.
1.) 19 Apr 2025 21:36:07
Carl muggleton was also better option as barkas. he's probably 60 now.
2.) 19 Apr 2025 22:24:39
Hated Craig Gordon when he was at hearts originally was gutted when we signed him thought he was piss poor for us his flapping at crosses and flopping to the side at penalties infuriated me and now a hate him again back at the wee buns more than ever. but it’s all about opinions.
{Ed007's Note - I'm the same mate - add in his palming the ball into opposition strikers feet - I never wanted us to sign him but I will say fair play to him for playing on so long with his injury history.}
3.) 20 Apr 2025 00:12:45
Think he was a good player for us.
On top of the above comments he was quite the MMA fighter. Liked a flying leg now and again.
4.) 20 Apr 2025 06:39:06
He was certainly better than barkas, I will give him that. ?
It is a toss up between barkas, de Vries and Marshall for the worst Celtic keeper I have seen.
5.) 20 Apr 2025 11:14:02
I always said when he was at Hearts, I expected Celtic to score against him regularly even though he was seen as a shot-stopper. Cross balls, positional play and kicking was another story.
6.) 20 Apr 2025 12:51:23
He did ok for us, I am quite sure Celtic weren’t his first choice .
I wonder if he is still with the summer girl.
16 Apr 2025 15:59:19
When Villa feel that they have no more need for McGinn, would there be a place for him with Celtic, if he is still relatively injury free?
1.) 16 Apr 2025 16:54:26
I hope not, but it wouldn't be without the realms of possibility.
I've never been enamoured with McGinn. In one game he's a left back, right winger, left winger, striker, Manager etc. It's as if he doesn't trust the players in those positions. I'd rather have decent players who do a decent job within their own positions without someone taking over.
One thing in his favour - the guy seems to be fearless and goes into situations where no other players go into.
2.) 16 Apr 2025 16:58:15
That depends when that is. I hope he comes to us before his legs have gone. It also depends how he adapts his game as he ages.
3.) 16 Apr 2025 17:21:23
Is there any indication that Villa have no further use for John Mc Ginn?
I am not so sure that J Mc Ginn really wants to play for Celtic, we all have different views on what happened years ago that resulted in John signing for Aston Villa and not Celtic .
One thing sticks in my mind is that after Villa eventually got enough money to place an exceptable bid for Hibs to accept, Celtic equalled that bid which was made when McGinn was already on journey to Birmingham. If John really, really wanted to sign for Celtic, as we are led to believe he would have turned around and made his way to Celtic .
I understand that wouldn’t normally happen, but I can’t understand if J MCG had the love of Celtic that we believe he had, he would have changed his destination.
4.) 16 Apr 2025 17:39:19
That was at the same time as loads of folks on here were saying he wouldn't get in our first XI. Utter tosh.
5.) 16 Apr 2025 17:47:41
McGinn’s contract expires in 2027.
If we did join Celtic for the 2027/ 28 season he would become 33 years old in the October.
Maybe it’s time to accept he was one that got away.
I must admit - I wasn’t too upset when he never came to Celtic but now I think he would’ve been a brilliant signing for Celtic.
6.) 16 Apr 2025 21:05:21
Wee Des
What’s your thoughts on Roy Keane signing back in the day? He’d have been nowhere near Celtic Park for me. If you can’t come in your prime stay where you are in the pub league. Whether you’re Irish or Scottish we’re not an end of life easy pay day so you can tell your grandweans you wore the hoops. It’s still unclear whether John McGinn is in the same category.
7.) 17 Apr 2025 01:05:12
Gf all the players that. Celtic have signed, the only one that I hated was Roy Keane. I liked him ok at N Forest . I didn’t like him all the time he was at Manchester United, that was no surprise as I never liked them . I couldn’t understand the clamour of Keane joining us when he was long past his best . He came to Celtic played a few games but was nothing special
His behaviour in Saigon before the World Cup in South Korea and Japan should have had him barred from playing for Ireland for life . Not only did the FAi allow him to play again for Ireland . They also appointed him assistant coach “working” with Martin O’Neil . Many people blame him for Rice and Grealish changing their international team from Ireland to England . After he was forced to contact them, it appears he was abrupt and made no attempt to coax them to continue with Ireland .
A complex character with a very high self opinion.
8.) 17 Apr 2025 10:11:50
Yip. He wanted to play for us only when it suited him, ie past his best. So I've no particular regard for him in a football playing context.
{Ed007's Note - How many times did Celtic try to sign Roy Keane, do you think that whenever there was a chance of him leaving Man Utd it was up to him to approach Celtic? He played for us when it suited Celtic is a better description.
Keane & Gordon Strachan knew his fitness could go either way when he signed, sadly it didn't work out long term but who can forget the masterclass he put on at Ibrox on his way to leaving with a league & LC double.
And yet the majority of the Celtic support are wetting their knickers about an injury ravaged PL flop in Hob Nob Hips coming back - well past his best - who couldn't wait to get out the door even though he was a "diehard Celtic fan" and all the rest of the birthday caird pish that was said about him - so how do you regard him in a football context?}
9.) 17 Apr 2025 14:15:10
Edd a would have wrote the exact same but unfortunately am not as intellectual as yourself, every word spot on, so much so that my father in law is a big Teirney fan and said he can’t wait until Teirney plays and he rams my criticism of him down my throat (jokingly) even tho a hope and pray he is a big success.
{Ed007's Note - It's going to be vomit inducing.}
10.) 17 Apr 2025 15:34:33
Ed, I can't argue your point about KTs injury record. But to describe him the way you did is disrespectful.
I also understand why any player would want to ply their trade in the pub league/ best league in the world (take your pick) if a top team like Arsenal came calling. I'm a Celtic man but I'd do the same as KT. Better games, not to mention the money.
Does that mean I'm keen on him coming back? No. I'm not.
{Ed007's Note - He was considering retiring before he left Celtic - I still don't know how he passed a medical at Arsenal - he's had numerous more injuries and is coming back to Celtic on a free transfer, would you say that's been a success for him? Arsenal was seen as a stepping stone for Tierney IF he could stay fit, I have no doubts at all that a fully fit KT would & should have ended up at one of the mega money clubs but here he is where the other teams at a high(ish) level that were interested in him on a free seen him as a risk worth taking as back-up.}
13 Apr 2025 18:20:54
Regarding the lingering question over Kieran's fitness, surely the club have some measure of confidence in his physical condition?
Anyone agree that it may be time for the lad to retire from the international scene?
08 Apr 2025 11:41:44
Anyone feel we are too obvious these days? You can predict the passes and the passage of play fairly accurately before they happen.
The opposition can read us like a book since we have no surprises in our repertoire. It seems there is no scope for any individual magic any more. When a team packs in defensive mode against us we need 'can openers'. Same old stuff seldom gets results.
1.) 08 Apr 2025 12:54:24
We have been too predictable and the Sevco games have proved it. They couldn't beat Queens Park, Hibs, Motherwell, St Mirren and others but we have lost twice to them. We are not playing with the same pace and precision that we started the season with domestically and in Europe.
Our team selection formation and tactics rarely change and we invite pressure with that tippy tappy, tempting teams to pressurize a defense and midfield that are not as good as they think.
We rely on the forward players to create chances with pace, but as well as several players being below par on Sunday, our play has slowed right down and is easy to defend against.
I am sure a manager or Rodgers' experience will have noticed this.
2.) 08 Apr 2025 15:54:52
Sometimes we are very predictable in our patterns of play, which makes it easy for the opposition to close us down. Personally, I would like to see us alter things. We could go long sometimes or stop the play and reverse it or even burst forward with it. That being said, when we are on it, no Scottish team can compete with us.
3.) 08 Apr 2025 16:02:21
It's Rodgers that is telling them to play that way.
4.) 08 Apr 2025 16:53:19
Scottish football is still too easy for us.
Celtic only need to play at about 70% to win another Treble.
5.) 08 Apr 2025 17:32:46
Why were we not playing predictable football before our SPL games became very meaningless . I am sure one of the targets BR set his team were to win the SPL . He had others regarding cup competitions and Champions league .
I doubt if BR or anyone else set targets for Celtic to win SPL by game 30. game 32, game 34 or any target other than win . Players can’t be happy after all their excellent work from August until end of year, often having difficult SPL game on either side of C L and all within 6 days . Our cl game nearly all came midweek before a difficult away SPL.
6.) 09 Apr 2025 18:05:59
On reflection I think that it certainly isn’t a matter of others been able to read us as we are too repetitive. It just doesn’t make sense to suggest that opponents can predict passes before make them, It’s not accurate, because if opponents read our passes before we make them, it only takes one player to forget his pass and play a different pass and the space will be left by opponents.
We have hit a bit of a slump, through too many hard matches from August to end of year . We also are bound to relax as will win SPL with matches to spares .
We should be happy that we have such a lead and not be praying that referees can’t stop us.

We never heard a dickie bird's tweet about Old Coal and their monotonous stream of EBT signings, whilst we were all wondering where the Cash Cow was. That is one reason why I want Celtic to continue to smash every record and crush every team. Never ease up Bhoys and sky's the limit.
19 Apr 2025 15:58:05
Also, a good soaking to counteract that icy cold east wind which will make the playing surface very fast and fiery.
12 Mar 2025 15:54:04
When Daizen's days are done as a top Bhoy we will surely reminisce about his speed, tireless effort, his chasing apparent lost causes and converting them, covering back, relentless will to win, uncomplaining and unselfish demeanour, and the magnificent entertainment he has given us fans.
Also, when cup final and Treble day comes in May, I really feel that Daizen and Jota will be red hot and set Hampden alight.
26 Feb 2025 17:44:14
I'm an absolute fan of Fergus McCann.
It was 'The Bunnet who Dunnit' - he made Celtic great again.
He rebuilt the stadium, I would not be averse to re-naming it The Fergus McCann Stadium.
25 Feb 2025 16:15:33
They have all been critics of Phil and his players. Sevco now saying, 'OK pundits, show us how! '
Stock up on jelly and ice cream and loosen a notch on your belts to accommodate vast quantities.
