Is there any truth in us being interested in Graham Potter of Swansea?

Jonbhoy71

{Ed007's Note - I think it's more a case of he's interested in us but according to some he is friendly with people involved at Celtic.}

1.) 15 Apr 2019 20:24:43
Cheers ED.
I wasn't sure if it was just more SMSM paper talk.

{Ed007's Note - Potter's actually one of the better names that's been linked imo. He's a modern thinking manager/coach and I'd take him over the likes of a Moyes or Keane type. Read up on him, he's an interesting character, this is just from his Wiki page:

Potter has been recognised for his "progressive" and "unconventional" coaching methods. At Ostersund, he encouraged his players and staff to engage in community activities, such as performing in theatre and music productions designed to take them out of their comfort zone.

Potter describes his teams as "tactically flexible, attacking, [and] possession-based. At Ostersund, he deployed a flexible 3–5–2 formation centred on ball possession. Former Celtic and Barcelona player Henrik Larsson commented on Potter's pattern of play, stating he "played all different kinds of systems, starting off a match one way, and then halfway through they started playing a different system, and then they ended up with a third system. And all the players knew exactly what they were doing."

As a young coach, Potter studied the training methods of Roberto Martínez at Swansea and became inspired by his possession-based approach, along with the "holistic" training principles he observed during his travels to Spain.
Potter also cites the philosophy of Pep Guardiola and Raymond Verheijen’s periodisation model among his influences.

Marcelo Bielsa had this to say about him:

"He's English, he's a modern coach, he has new ideas, he brings new ideas. [Swansea is] a team that takes care of how they move the ball... in their style, the goalkeeper and defenders build from the back. And for me it’s the feature that you could underline from Swansea [under Potter]"

2.) 15 Apr 2019 20:33:50
What do you think of potter ed? You think he would be good for Celtic or we too big for him?

{Ed007's Note - I think we would need a proper DOF type to work alongside Potter so that Pedro isn't running the footballing side again.}

3.) 15 Apr 2019 21:14:05
If we decided to go down the dof route, who would you like to see in that role for us?

{Ed007's Note - Honestly I don't know. It's such a specialised job and the guys that do it are usually go unnoticed to the rank and file supporters like us. What about ex-Chelsea Technical Director Michael Emenalo who left Monaco a couple of months ago? It's never going to happen and would cost a fortune but how many of you guys have even heard of him - no offence btw I only know about these guys from doing the sites and talking to Ed001 and Ed002 etc.}

4.) 15 Apr 2019 21:29:09
Ed I've heard a few time this season we want to go down the route of a DOF.
Did they not say Kennedy has been looked at for the role?

{Ed007's Note - A newspaper - I can't remember which one - ran the story not long after Rodgers left about Kennedy being promoted but I don't know how much truth there was in it.}

5.) 15 Apr 2019 22:48:57
I remember him doing well with Ostersund, took the team from League 4 to the top division in consecutive season then got through the Europa League group and gave Arsenal a real fright in the last 32.
If Lawwell is looking for a guy to come in and maybe work on a smaller budget, he may be the guy although I don't know if they would pay the compensation that Swansea might ask for.

6.) 16 Apr 2019 09:10:58
I certainly think we need to look at a DoF. Particularly if we're going to go with Lennon as has been said PL will run the footballing side of things and he doesn't have a footballing brain. As Ed points out a lot are unknown to most of us and the more reputable figues, we'd have no chance. After a bit of digging what about Jordi Cruyff? Currently with Maccabi Tel Aviv, so shouldn't be out of reach. He helped transform Larnaca to be the first Cypriot side to qualify for the Europa. And then they did it again the following season. Now in Israel Maccabi Tel Aviv are the big boys again after a long period of not being. They've also enjoyed a credible go in Europe too. He seems to like teams playing attractive, more importantly winning football. He has attracted good managers and players and he must have a decent contacts list. Just a suggestion.

7.) 16 Apr 2019 11:20:54
Scrap that he's managing in China 😅 Feck it let's just give John Park a ring.

8.) 16 Apr 2019 15:44:50
Didn't Swansea give man City a real fright recently I didn't see the game but I heard a quote that Swansea played more like City than city did or something like that he sounds like the type of manager I would like someone who has the tactical knowledge to change things quickly when needed.
reflecting back to Valencia games you could see fairly early on in the first game we needed to change something but it took Rodgers till the second game to do it.

9.) 16 Apr 2019 16:20:30
He did well at Ostersunds, but rising to the celtic job would be meteoric by any standards. So he beat arsenal. One to watch for sure tho.

10.) 16 Apr 2019 19:19:41
If he comes I hope he brings Daniel James with him.

11.) 22 Apr 2019 15:14:37
With Potter at the helm Swansea are currently sitting 12th in the Championship 28 points adrift of leaders Norwich, as one of the teams relegated with the payoff that’s not exactly a roaring endorsement for him getting the Celtic job in my estimations .

12.) 22 Apr 2019 23:22:10
Anyone think Harry Redknapp could be a good shout for DOF if we was going down that route?

28 Jan 2019 19:19:20
Just read a report claiming the new American boy Gutman has walked out on us and hasn't been seen in over a week.
Is this true or is it more paper pish?

Jonbhoy71

1.) 28 Jan 2019 20:03:57
What paper jonbhoy? Can't see such a story anywhere?

2.) 28 Jan 2019 21:56:20
He is supposed to be back in America and considering other options, Celtic supposed to be not interested in him any more.

{Ed007's Note - It would appear that we withdrew the offer from the gossip I'm hearing...... Seems a bit bizarre to me....}

3.) 28 Jan 2019 22:05:06
Yeah that’s a strange wan maybe he was just on trial and didn’t see him as a player anything on Perez boy Ed?

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea. There's really no need to get excited about players that will go into development projects, Rich.}

4.) 28 Jan 2019 22:30:25
Nae bother cheers Ed BRs interview the day wasn’t convinced with his answer to any more signings possibly coming in but we will c hope we get in a defender in.

5.) 28 Jan 2019 22:35:23
A said the same when these boys were over from America, they're development players that would've got a bit of coverage in the celtic view but now the way social media is, their names are all over the place I don't expect to see them for a long time and I certainly don't count them as signings.

6.) 28 Jan 2019 23:29:51
Seen quite a few saying him and Shved have been told to stay away until deadline day.

Probably a way for lawwell to make it look like we were still working on transfers.

Imo the two Americans are pointless anyway. Probably just disappear.

7.) 28 Jan 2019 23:25:49
Got it from here, like I said it might be pish but I hadn't heard the club announcing the deal yet so I wasn't sure what was happening:

goo.gl/p4i3Q4

8.) 29 Jan 2019 11:10:57
Too many development players that have dissapeared over the years.

9.) 29 Jan 2019 12:58:12
He'll end up at Sevco and they'll be gloating thinking it's a coup.

18 Jan 2019 20:04:12
So now the BR has stated YAYA isn't a target and Man U said you McTomley isn't going anywhere are we going to bring in a DM or just a right back.
I can't see us signing a CD since Boyata and Compper don't seem to be going anywhere and Bitton is fit again.

Jonbhoy71

1.) 18 Jan 2019 22:21:41
Omar Ellabadelliou, full back, in on Monday, sorry about spelling of surname.

2.) 18 Jan 2019 22:29:27
Tamtam where u hearing this?

3.) 18 Jan 2019 23:22:33
Not a chance he wants to stay where he is I heard.

4.) 19 Jan 2019 09:26:13
Whell there’s a pic of him at a Greek airport Friday night and there ament to have a game today so fingers crossed.

5.) 19 Jan 2019 10:03:41
I think he is flying out to his clubs game false alarm as per.

6.) 19 Jan 2019 10:48:26
He’s no coming we have enough RBs maybe no the right wan but they are no getting any more Ralston should be given his chance Gamboa is no cutting it and Lustig is still recovering from the World Cup it his age it’s taking it out him. There has to be big clear out Commper now if I didn’t do my job I would be sacked for being rubbish at it so there are two reasons for being removed. CHs you could play them all along the back 4 and still have one or two to n the bench Boyata should’ve been given marching orders he didn’t play when we needed him he could’ve left got money and then reinvest but no he is going for nothing where is the business sense in that PL is renound for his business sense where was he that day off buying some rubbish with his Boness money? There was a post before the window by someone who said that there would be signings but no major work done but if BR got what he wants then u will see them go. Well let’s see and judge at the end of the season HH.

7.) 21 Jan 2019 14:11:17
Well today is Monday. Is it another Monday you were thinking about? I hope you’re right, but we both know that’s not going to happen.

07 Jan 2019 11:55:59
Does anyone know if young Arzani is still with the club.
I wasn't sure if Man City recalled him after the injury and the deal was cancelled.

Jonbhoy71

1.) 07 Jan 2019 17:17:51
As far as I know he's back at city for treatment but will return when he's fit.

2.) 07 Jan 2019 17:56:20
Cheers Steph.

3.) 07 Jan 2019 22:05:02
Arzani will be a while yet, was it not a full knee recon?

4.) 08 Jan 2019 07:26:41
A think he's out till may. Can see his loan being extended, is there an option to buy do u know.

09 Nov 2018 12:50:16
Ntcham signs a new 4 year deal!
Great News.

Jonbhoy71

{Ed007's Note - But... but.... huff... not interested... misses Dembele... clearly wants out... raging we never let him leave.... for the off in January...

1.) 09 Nov 2018 13:02:40
Olly will need to settle for a spot in the bench. Christie and McGregor on fire 🔥 🔥 🔥.

2.) 09 Nov 2018 14:26:55
How can that be true when guys like magicpole know he really wants away? 🤔.

3.) 09 Nov 2018 14:47:36
Good buisness by Celtic guarantees a big sale when time comes. Ntcham will need to up his game more regular to be First team pick.

This split in the dressing room causing this crisis is hard to watch. HH.

4.) 09 Nov 2018 16:12:50
Fantastic news and it's amazing the turnaround in positivity around our club.

The amount of panty wetting (to use one of eds phrases) was ott and playing into the hands of the media and so called expert pundits.

I'm really looking forward to the January window and feel convinced we will yet again lay a marker down.

5.) 09 Nov 2018 16:41:26
Olly would you like more money?

More money yes please.

Only catch is its guaranteed for next 4 years with a 12 million buy out clause. Think your worth 12?

I'm worth 20 gimme that so I can sign it.

{Ed007's Note - If Ntcham was in a huff and desperate to leave in January why would he sign a new deal 7 weeks before the transfer window opens? And, if you're right about the buy out clause, why would he potentially price himself out of a move he's desperate for, what if other clubs don't think he's worth the £12 million and will only pay £10 million?
So come February we could have a player that's supposedly in the huff and desperate to leave who's stuck here because nobody will pay the buy out clause HIM & HIS AGENT agreed only 12 weeks previously.
I can't see that, if he was that desperate to leave he wouldn't care how much Celtic got for him for a start and his agent wouldn't be that stupid, his job is to maximise the player and his own money, not the Club's and he makes a lot more from transfers than he does new contracts.}

6.) 09 Nov 2018 17:43:01
This is great news . I think this guy on form is fantastic.

7.) 09 Nov 2018 19:50:02
Ed let me get this right.
We've have went from guys on here
KNOWING nctcham is DEFINITELY leaving to guys on here KNOWING what's in his contract the day he signs it?

{Ed007's Note - I'm wondering what the shout will be the next time he misplaces a pass - demonic possession, bendy water? 🤔

8.) 09 Nov 2018 23:15:52
Bendy water? wtf is that? LOL.

Ntcham will misplace his passes; cause he's trying to find his compass and something unusual. That's everything I love about his game. (I do miss the pirouette passes he began with: the unwobbling pivot- a a little, but no-one gets to stand around in a BR team)

Felt sorry for Eboue and Arzani this week. That must have been a spectacle from the sidelines. I fear we have alienated the former, and suspect there's still a player in there.

{Ed007's Note - Have ypu not seen the Leigh Griffiths 'bendy water' video?

https://youtu.be/BpEDxOyTT2w

And then watch the bendy water guy's videos!!!!!!

If Ntcham was the finished article he wouldn't be a Celtic player, he's here to learn and progress and with him signing a new deal and what he said he feels he's in the right place for that.
I've put up links to articles before comparing the 2 and how City didn't need Pogba etc but would you swap Pogba for Ntcham? Now there's a player that doesn't want to be at his club but that's another story.
Footballing wise though I honestly don't see how anyone who has wathed Pogba regularly at Man Utd could choose him, behind all the hype and profile there is a very average 25-year old player, I've yet to see him take a game by the scruff of the neck for club or country.
Christie's made a bigger impact for us the last few weeks than Pogba has at Utd.}

9.) 10 Nov 2018 14:39:00
The ntcham away posts were just made up nonsense. there was no substance and as ed says he misplaced a pass and it was oh me must want away because dembelles away. wish we could just enjoy theses players while there here.

10.) 10 Nov 2018 09:26:59
Bloody hell, that's good Ed, cheers! got to love Leigh's attitude, a sort of indulgent skepticism.

Enjoyed the City articles on Ntcham, I don't think they are an exaggeration. I do have some regard for Pogba. He first came to my attention when we played Juve in the CL and looked really awesome. He does look pretty average most times I've seen him in England but I have no lover for utd.

{Ed007's Note - You can just imagine LG sitting with a tablet surrounded by a team of kids watching youtube videos about bendy water 😂

11.) 13 Nov 2018 01:13:06
Ntcham seems like he has his head screwed on. I do think he will be away at some point down the line however he will be here untill he develops like Wanyama, Van Dijk, Dembele or Gamboa converts to CM.

Hi ed
Wondering if you could help, discussing the CL next year with a few people and I mentioned
because there are 2 English teams in the CL final who are both in the PL top 4, it means that there could be 6 English teams in the CL next year.
The winners this year will go straight into the group so the 5th placed in the PL gets a spot but because Arsenal are 5th in the PL and if they win the EL it would mean Man U gets a spot.
Hope this makes sense.

Jonbhoy71

{Ed007's Note - The maximum amount of teams any country can have playing in the CL is five. Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs have already qualified for the 2019-20 CL Group Stages and Arsenal will join them if they win the EL later this month, if they lose they will go into the EL next season along with Man Utd and either Wolves or Watford depending on who wins the FA Cup between Man City and Watford.
If City win the FA Cup then Wolves go in through their 7th place finish but if Watford win at Wembley they'll take the final EL place.
Arsenal must beat Chelsea in the EL Final to create England's fifth CL spot and book their place in it.}

1.) 14 May 2019 12:19:03
Pretty sure regardless of whoever wins the CL, the champions league spot would go to the Austrian champions as they are ranked as 11th best league and don’t have an automatic entry. Chelsea winning EL would give France an extra champions league group stage entry, arsenal winning would give them the entry. I think that’s right anyway lol.

2.) 14 May 2019 13:34:09
Cheers for that Ed.

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome buddy 👍

22 Mar 2019 22:01:43
Referee blocks a Johnny Doyle cross, then sends him off for it.

Jonbhoy71

1.) 23 Mar 2019 05:28:11
That's a scandalous decision. Great hit though.

2.) 23 Mar 2019 07:43:03
See the rage on the ref? Full of hate.

03 Mar 2019 03:43:15
I was just thinking of how much of a re-building job we will need to go through in the summer, not only the loan players leaving but also the players who will be out of contract.
I was also thinking about Wee Scott Sinclair, he will be going into the last year of his contract and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about him getting an extension or do you think he will be sold/ ask to leave because BR is gone.
I think he has been a great signing and would like to see him stay for another couple of years.

Jonbhoy71

1.) 03 Mar 2019 10:02:32
I agree, I think we should sign Sinclair up for longer. I know sometimes he frustrates during games but his goal and assist return for a winger is excellent.

2.) 03 Mar 2019 10:29:38
I was one of the fans slaughtering Sinclair earlier in the season and I’m big enough to admit I was wrong. Like many pointed out on here his goal return is great considering he’s not a striker, yes he floats in and out of games and frustrates at times as we all know what he’s capable of on his game. When he’s got the ball running direct at the defenders taking them on, that’s the Sinclair I love to see. Definitely without a doubt we should be looking to extend his contract. Wether he’d sign up again who knows but it certainly needs to be offered.

27 Feb 2019 21:56:03
Great win today after everything that happened yesterday but I just want to say how disgusted I was watching the game.
To see coins constantly landing around the feet of the Hearts keeper in the second half is totally Pathetic, at least 3 times when the camera zoomed in on him taking a bye kick you could see multiple coins landing on the ground.
How can we criticize fans from other teams when we have a section of our own fans who act in such a pathetic way.
Would these arseholes want someone following them around when they are doing there jobs, Pelting them with coins.

Jonbhoy71

1.) 27 Feb 2019 22:04:11
Brilliant result. Players looked happiest I've seen in long time.

For me Boyata was off again. Biton has looked good lately was a bit off it.

Given the circumstances it was an excellent night.

Lawwell looked delighted, no wonder he will get off with any criticism.

2.) 27 Feb 2019 22:46:43
Is simunovic injured again? Ajer did well and adapted after a torrid first 15mins. Bitton has been decent the last 2 games, just struggled with hearts high press, but with 4 centre mids injured I'm glad he's there.

17 Feb 2019 19:32:41
Although I agree that the pitch invasion was idiotic and only brings a bad name to the club, I see the Express were quick of the mark regarding the incident.

I don't remember any such story when the Orcs invaded the pitch 5 times over the last season.

Jonbhoy71

1.) 17 Feb 2019 19:49:44
Agreed.

2.) 17 Feb 2019 19:56:56
After a hard fought win that does put genuine day light where. us and the chasing pack, I think we can understand some of our younger fans rushing to celebrate the winning goal with our captain.

Good win for me and it's ours to throwaway.

3.) 17 Feb 2019 21:36:50
I don't mind pitch invasions if it's fans wanting to celebrate and no one gets hurt. Was night and day compared to scenes of cup final.

4.) 17 Feb 2019 22:30:24
The orcs were celebrating winning the league. 3 times in 1 season . we were just celebrating .

I guess you haven't been a supporter very long as this is how our club has been run since MO'N left and probably before that.
Listen to the interview WGS gave about how our transfers are done if you want to know how it goes on with Lawwell and Celtic.

Is it not better to give him the job on a temp basis to see how it goes and who he brings in instead of giving him a 3 or 4 year deal and it turns out he signs a load of crap.

Are we really interested in him or is it just the usual media crap so they can come out with "He chose Rangers over Celtic because of Gerrard"
Every player they sign, the media states that we were interested so it makes the gullible feel good and they think they got one over on us.

This won't be a popular opinion but if we get £25-£30 million then we should sell.
He is a great player but my fear is his injury, he has had real bother with it over the last couple of years and at such a young age a hip problem isn't easy to get over.
