Kolo has officially signed for celtic.

Calum_Celt12

1.) 24 Jul 2016 15:26:39
1 year deal with option of further year.

2.) 24 Jul 2016 15:40:14
I was wondering about any option of an extension. Added wee bonus that.

3.) 24 Jul 2016 16:02:23
Would also prefer Toure in a few years as defensive coach rather than Kennedy.

4.) 24 Jul 2016 16:21:34
Have yoy heard anything else on Bamford or Chabloah Skinnybhoy? Would be over the moon if we got the latter!

5.) 24 Jul 2016 16:59:40
Nothing concrete tompo only from a few friends mentioning them.

6.) 24 Jul 2016 17:23:19
SB, I Heard Sinclairs medical at Ross Hall was cancelled yesterday, is it being moved to Lennoxtown or some other reason? You heard anything?

7.) 24 Jul 2016 17:25:32
No worries bud cheers. Will be really happy with Sinclair a lot of folk forgetting how good a player he was and personally think he just made some bad career moves. If we can get his confidence back I think we will have a player we would never dream on getting in permanently under normal circumstances.

8.) 24 Jul 2016 19:59:42
I was speaking to a mate who is a big villa fan, he was gutted there was talk of Sinclair leaving, he felt he wasn't given a chance and said he was villas only decent player.

Lads, looking for some help. Heading to Salamanca next week and need somewhere to watch the Bayern game? Anyone know of any places that'll show the game?

Calum_Celt12

1.) 06 Oct 2017 10:17:31
Salamanca celtic supporters club mate, canny miss it.

01 Sep 2016 22:54:16
Was just seeing a few guys saying efe could play in midfield. To be honest he hasn't been awful when he has played full back. As long as he's not last man he "can" be a relatively decent player. He has a bit of pace, is strong and adds height to the team. I think he has just got his preferred position wrong his whole career😂.

Calum_Celt12

1.) 02 Sep 2016 01:11:52
RB is his preferred position. Plays there for Nigeria.

2.) 02 Sep 2016 01:21:22
Although BR is 'resting' him, I think he will play a part somewhere along the way. Either as a sub or start in some domestic/ cup games.
Like Izzy he loves the club and wants to play for Celtic and I'm sure he always gives his all, but unfortunately the errors are so high profile, costly and frequent it destroys all confidence.
Nonetheless he is a Nigeria International full back and a place outwith central defense may be the solution?

3.) 02 Sep 2016 08:26:36
The only solution is out the bloody door.
He is not good enough for any position in the team and breeds panick ever time he's in it.

4.) 02 Sep 2016 08:32:45
I am absolutely stunned there's still people talking about ambrose and maybe playin him somewhere else to save him making an arse of it! This guy is finished at Celtic! He's 9 months left on his contract and I for one hope to never see him in a Celtic top again! It's staggering that there's still some trying to make a case for him! He's pish in any position and that's the bottom line!

5.) 02 Sep 2016 08:43:56
Efe is stuck in a catch 22 situation. As he has made mistakes the fans get on his case whenever he is on the pitch, which make him prone to making more errors.

I personally don't think he is anywhere near as bad as some people make him out to be and feel sorry for him because he gives his all in each performance.

6.) 02 Sep 2016 11:09:56
Giving your all doesn't make you good enough.

7.) 02 Sep 2016 11:16:01
Wiss81 totally agree mate no more excuses can be made. He's had chance after chance to redeem himself and he keeps on letting the team and the fans down. Thanks for the effort efe but your times up my man. HH.

8.) 02 Sep 2016 12:36:06
Rab

Did you read what you wrote before you posted?

Absolute nonsense. If he was any good he would be able to block the fans out and concentrate on his own game. This is a guy who can make a mistake anywhere, Celtic Park, other Scottish grounds, Europe and in internationals. You can't tell me that Celtic fans who are in the minority in away games can put him off? What about internationals?

9.) 02 Sep 2016 13:07:19
I can't believe I'm saying this, but it actually agree that Efe is quite a good player, just an awful defender.

He plays a blinder for 89mins and then has a massive lapse in concentration and gives away a ridiculous goal. Not acceptable when you are playing CB and are the last man.

As a holding MF i think he would actually be pretty good. He has a good range of passing, is quite pacy, he's strong in the air and on the ground and can tackle better than most MF's (him being a defender and all) . With the same 89 mins good, 1 min bad ratio it might me a good bet as there would be someone behind him to clean up the bad minute debacles!

I could be horribly wrong, but he is still one of our players and we should get behind him as he's here until at least January. It can't do his confidence any good reading the rubbish we post about him here. And he is Celtic through and through.

Just sayin!

10.) 02 Sep 2016 13:47:52
Nial you are perfectly entitled to your opinion about Ambrose and I am sure more Celtic fans share your view about him, than they do mine.

That being said I do stick by my opinion that his confidence is shattered due to the stick he gets from some of the fans (some of it warranted) .

Not sure if you have ever heard of the self-fulfilling prophecy but this is what has happened to Ambrose. If you cast your mind back to Ambrose before the Juventus game, he was a reasonably solid defender and formed a good partnership with Wilson. However, since that game the stick he has taken has continually worsened as has his number of errors. My view is that both are linked (i. e. the self-fulfilling prophecy) .

Please don't think I am saying Ambrose is an amazing defender but I do think he is better than he is made out to be by some of our fans. I also think he is more than capable of handling Scottish defences but his time at Celtic will soon be over.

11.) 02 Sep 2016 13:54:27
Cant remember who it was against but he came on last season i think it was a europa game and 5 times in a row he couldn't play a 5 yard ball to feet and people want him playing in midfield. Give me strength.

12.) 02 Sep 2016 14:24:56
To all these guys claiming Ambrose is a great centre midfielder. He has played under 3 Celtic managers and not 1 of them has trusted him to play more than 45 minutes of football in there.

To those that say he is great passer of the ball. James Forrest has a better cross completion rate than him. He played right back away last season (I think it was Hearts) and hit more kids in the stand than our players standing waiting for his crosses.

He is Celtic through and through? Is that a joke? Gabby Agbonlahor is Villa through and through, a fan and player his whole career with them. He is being called a traitor for not leaving. Efe is only here for the money and he hasn't move anywhere else because everyone else knows how terrible he is. If he "loved" Celtic he would have done us all a favour and left. He hasn't stayed for he love of Celtic.

{Ed007's Note - Ambrose stayed after Brendan Rodgers told him he was happy for him to stay and fight for his place.}

13.) 02 Sep 2016 14:28:04
I honestly can't believe what I'm reading of some of these posting . Apart from all the errors and not to mention important games he's cost us people are still trying to fit him somewhere in the team. There's been loads of games where he can't even pass it ten yards to a team mate . With all the errors his career with us is finished, I for one hope br doesn't include him in the final squad for Europe . For all his effort a blind man can see he needs a move away for the good of his career . Yet he decided to turn down two moves in the window, surely he would have been better going to the Belgian club than sit in our reserves picking up money . If he went there and played well a few teams would probably look at him with his caps and so on. He's just going to be hanging around now picking up wasted wages . I'd arrange a free for him now if he'd accept it.

14.) 02 Sep 2016 14:40:16
Efe is certainly not a right back . He plays there in the Nigerian team because the Nigerian Manager rates other centre backs better than Efe .
When Efe came to Celtic he was not a bad footballer but especially after the European match when he had a short turn round time from landing in Great Britain and playing a growing number of fans got on his back and naturally his confidence dropped
I very much doubt if Efe can play consistently for us again .
Maybe he can do a job elsewhere, but I very much doubt it .
I wonder what his real age is, compared to his football age .

15.) 02 Sep 2016 15:19:33
Old Bhoy he was always a right back before celtic.
He was in the team of the tournament the year Nigeria won the African cup of nations in the right back squad.

16.) 02 Sep 2016 16:14:41
he was playing dm for ashdod before coming to celtic.

17.) 02 Sep 2016 16:58:47
I will cut to the chase using my best Glaswegian AMBROSE IS JUST SHITE! lol.

18.) 02 Sep 2016 17:15:48
I remember more summersaults than **** ups.

19.) 02 Sep 2016 18:41:06
Just sums the guy up that he is better known for sommersaulting than he is for actually playing football.

20.) 02 Sep 2016 18:50:46
Let's stick him up front.

21.) 02 Sep 2016 19:06:48
why don't we just leave the this kind of talk for the other team across the city celtic family get behind the team whoever plays cheers not jeers why can't we all get along 😟.

22.) 02 Sep 2016 19:38:59
I will never forget his madness in the Fenerbache game. Looked bad enough to be match fixing!

23.) 02 Sep 2016 15:43:40
All the people complaining about the suggestion Ambrose being in midfield. the reason people say it is because we need someone who can tackle to protect the defenders.

The board chose not to invest on deadline day so Ambrose becomes an option then, most claim to be happy we didn't spend on deadline day when we need a midfielder.

Don't complain when we are exposed through the middle.

The youtube clip is of Ambrose first game against raith rovers in the cup, he played defensive mid and looked very good, not any worse a passer than Scott Brown. It's clear even in these highlights he's lost a lot of confidence and doesn't have the bottle to be last man.

Efe Ambrose Celtic Debut

24.) 03 Sep 2016 00:45:32
We were informed at the time that Nigerian Manager didn't rate him as highly as his centre backs . He certainly is not a right back for Celtic, not in a million years, he maybe can play as a fullback who is not expected to race up the field and cut the ball back or cross it . B R like R D wants his full backs to defend and link up with wingers and create chances . Ambrose may have certain skills and a lot more than he is given credit for by some posters who love to see him fail.

01 Aug 2016 21:45:13
What's everyone's thoughts towards Wednesday. I reckon we should win comfortably but I do worry about our defence. That griffiths goal has made me feel more easy.

Calum_Celt12

1.) 01 Aug 2016 22:32:30
Hopefully get a wee early goal to settle the nerves and hopefully lead to a comfortable victory! But even though this mob don't travel well they're still no mugs! My team would be
Gordon
Lustig o'connel toure tierney
Roberts brown Armstrong mcgregor
Rogic
Griffiths.

2.) 01 Aug 2016 22:33:51
I think we will work n but as u say our defence is not at its best atm so I think they will score .

3.) 01 Aug 2016 22:41:16
How mcgregor gets a game is beyond me. Truly awful player.

4.) 01 Aug 2016 22:56:44
I only put mcgregor in there so Forrest wasn't mate! Lol. not a massive fan of his myself to be honest! Was either him or young Christie in there.

5.) 02 Aug 2016 06:51:37
Awful? Harsh on McGregor I think.

6.) 02 Aug 2016 08:04:00
Gordon
Janko Lustig O'Connell Tierney
Brown
Roberts Rogic Armstrong
Griffiths Dembele.

7.) 02 Aug 2016 09:48:44
Gordon
Lustig Toure O'Connell Tierney
Brown Armstrong
Roberts Rogic Dembele
Griffiths

If we sign Sinclair we are shaping up to look like a good attacking side with 2 proper wingers. Something we've lacked for a while. But far too many midfielders in the squad.

8.) 02 Aug 2016 11:56:48
HenriksTongue I'd be worried about Toure's lack of match sharpness in such an important game.

9.) 02 Aug 2016 17:22:44
So am I, butt just maybe his experience will get him through .
I am also concerned with the idea that some of our players are regarded as truly aweful . Players need all the encouragement and confidence they can get.

10.) 02 Aug 2016 22:47:55
It's good to see Griffith becoming proficient in Europe two goals in 75 hours may show he is carrying his domestic form into Europe .
Many people questioned his ability to score in Europe but I don't really see any difference. Barcelona would be amongst the best clubs in Europe every year and they could not handle the pressure we were putting on their back four, and give up the easiest opportunity for Griffith's to score.

31 Jul 2016 11:05:54
I was just thinking back to Wednesday against Astana and although he actually played alright on the night, could we not have put lustig or bitton at CB and give young janko a chance at right back. Lustig has been solid at center back when he's needed to be. I just find it a bit odd at how we had him available to play CB and decided to go with Ambrose instead? Keep in mind that I did think he had an alright game that night but just a thought.

Calum_Celt12

1.) 31 Jul 2016 11:54:58
I said to my mate last week before the Astana game I'd go with lustig at centre half for that game. I also remember mentioning on here after that game why we never went with young o'connell instead of ambrose. A few people were of the opinion that he was young and inexperienced which is true but we were playing a team from Gibraltar for god sake, since that game the young inexperienced bhoy has shown up well and I'd have no problems with him playing beside another centre half as long as it's not ambrose.

2.) 31 Jul 2016 12:20:38
It was Ambrose's mad slice that conceded the corner.

3.) 31 Jul 2016 13:17:12
No it was Lustig that conceded the corner after ambrose didn't clear it.

4.) 31 Jul 2016 15:17:13
Three managers in a row have not wanted to play Lustig at centre back . One manager might be stupid but three a bit much . Lustig consistently plays well at right back for usc. He may go down easily from knocks, but the loudmouths shouting sick note at him and posters also deriding his injury record doesn't seem to take account of his 46 appearances last season.

30 Jul 2016 23:01:49
I actually feel really sorry for efe. He tries his best for the club and the fans repay him by booing. I think he just needs to move on. To be fair to the lad you could tell he was distraught tonight, he's tried his hardest and things haven't gone his way. Good luck to him in the future when (hopefully) he moves on! Still can't get over the disgracefulness of a few fans who think it's acceptable to boo him. All the best Efe.

Calum_Celt12

1.) 30 Jul 2016 23:29:03
He's not a bad player he just needs a club with no pressure and scrutiny he can't handle it.

2.) 30 Jul 2016 23:38:34
Like I've said before, I don't even blame him anymore! It's the fact he keeps getting picked time and time again despite the fact he's a liability every time he's on the pitch! The guy should have been gone a long time ago! And yes it's not right for the fans to boo him, but he shouldn't even be in the squad never mind on the pitch! The league seasons hasn't even started and look how many times he's made an arse of it! When can u honestly remember the last time he had a steady game with no red cards own goals or costing us a goal! Give him a free transfer straight away to whichever club will take him! It's an embarrsment that this hasn't been dealt with by now!

3.) 30 Jul 2016 23:42:12
Personally for me the abuse that Ambrose gets is absolutely shameful and i mean on here as well as in the stadium's and i agree he needs to just move on and hopefully his every move won't be put under a microscope like the so called best supporter's in the world have the guy has been nothing but a loyal servant to the club in his time and i'm pretty sure the last 3 Celtic manager's know a bit more about the game and him as a player than any of the armchair managers shouting their mouth's off about him do honestly booing a player for an og in a friendly makes me sick.

4.) 30 Jul 2016 23:56:04
Astana beav.

5.) 30 Jul 2016 23:57:11
Was a time I fancied efe for a wanyama type role and I'm still not sure he wouldn't be best there. Definitely needs a man behind him or a stalwart besides him. Frustrating. Hope he gets a break somewhere.

6.) 31 Jul 2016 00:02:31
Astana MR, the same Astana were he let a simple cross go under his legs because he couldn't stay on his feet and lustig had to scramble the ball for a corner! Remind me what happened at that corner! Do u remember the Lincoln game before that to? Or was that the park the sun or some other thing that caused that!

7.) 31 Jul 2016 00:07:14
The fact our fans were so quick to boo ambrose, our own player BTW, is disgraceful.

8.) 31 Jul 2016 00:25:29
Beav he didn't give a goal away red nope he also cleared a ball over the bar that could have been an own goal if he didn't go for it the Astana player would have scored is he good enough for celtic no but he is a good player and every celtic fan was wanting Lennon to play him against juve because we were raving about him he is a good player his celtic careers over because he can't handle the intense scrutiny and pressure hh.

9.) 31 Jul 2016 00:28:16
Btw beav O'Connell lost his man at the corner not Ambrose and gordan had a mare.

10.) 31 Jul 2016 00:31:08
If a player fails to deliver on a regular basis, why should the fans be criticised for showing their dissatisfaction, if confidence is an issue the management need to resolve, doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome etc, etc.

11.) 31 Jul 2016 00:37:37
Trim I think it just that we are down to the bare bones in that position.

12.) 31 Jul 2016 00:43:41
To be honest when Ambrose plays full back, he's not half a bad player. I just get very scared when he plays at center back.

13.) 31 Jul 2016 00:51:21
Juve! MR that was how many years ago? And how many games has he cost us since? I've said I don't blame him, because he can't help being an absolute imposter of a footballer! It's his managers and people above who should have put him out his misery years ago! I've never known so many exuses to get made for the one player in all my time supporting the club! And yes I don't agree with the booing, but I will not support a man who's constantly let the team down time and time again! Not with lack of effort but by a lack of understanding on how to do basic defending! I'm actually sick to the back teeth of talking about this guy anymore! And i can't believe after all the own goals red cards and giving away cheap goals I still have to! We started deilas reign with this guy and now we've started BR reign with him to! It's simply not good enough, regardless of injuries or circumstances!

14.) 31 Jul 2016 00:54:58
And btw MR, there wouldn't have been a corner if bombscare had stayed on his feet and cleared the ball! But there must have been something wrong with the artificial pitch or some other lame excuse to defend the indefensible!

15.) 31 Jul 2016 01:18:26
it's simple as this . Shouldn't need a debate, ambrose simply not good enough . However it happens he needs to leave the club . I know it's not his fault he plays but at end of day we need to be ruthless . We're not booing him for the sake of it . Give the fans a chance, we certainly can't cheer him. Too many people getting upset about critisisimg anything . **** me, when did we allow this to happen . What's wrong with not being happy . Last two years we've lost to Slovenian, Poland and Swedish teams to get to champions league . I maybe wrong but I'm sure our budget is more than theirs . No excuses, let's get the job done . Apologise for the language but at end of day of someone not good enough then punt him.

16.) 31 Jul 2016 01:40:43
If you feel bad for him. You have to take that out of it. It's that bad with fan reaction to him that some make up other excuses . You can pinpoint glaring mistakes and Gordon is right up there as well. Combined they have weakened the team In vital moments through blatant mistakes. It's hard (being diplomatic, EASY) to pinpoint if those mistakes cost us millions but I'd say they have. Granted we haven't been good enough past the defense. There is nothing left at this club for him and if Gordon wasn't Scottish he would be the same. Nationality shouldn't cover a player but it seems to with us. All The 2nd chance mob are all home grown. A bit of sensible thought please.

17.) 31 Jul 2016 01:35:24
Simply stating that he needs a new club but still when he does go
There will be another that gets it but whoever pulls the hoops on I'll have there back like the one on there's hh.

18.) 31 Jul 2016 01:46:57
Well said Bobby!

19.) 31 Jul 2016 02:23:17
Efe is simply a target for frustration, assuming the critical posters on here have the time, name one current player that has not made several mistakes in the position they play in.

20.) 31 Jul 2016 02:34:01
I've got a better question! Name me one player in that team who's made as much mistakes and cost us in so many big games than ambrose! Of course players make mistakes! Just like everybody else any walk of life does! But the trick is to try and learn from the mistakes! Not constantly keep making the same ones over and over and over again! And yes it frustrating seeing the same guy get in the team time after time while clearly being so out his depth it's scary! There is no defence for this guy! And when he gets on the pitch again be it Wednesday or hearts away next weekend, he will make an arse of it once more! There's not a lot of certainties in life, but that's one of them!

{Ed007's Note - Craig Gordon.}

21.) 31 Jul 2016 05:12:38
Some of the mistakes have started in mf (which is an area we are not solid) . Efe has been there Gordon is an ever present.
I sat with my brother for few of the last games and asked him to honestly assess Gordon. He is a big fan. 50/ 50s he doesn't exist. At a push 90/ 10s he will opt for zero contact. Don't belive it watch again. Watch it twice and disagree or reply. I don't for a second belive after years of being a keeper he doesn't know where the crunch zone is. By that I mean 3 or 4 players running in. Watch it. He avoids it and jumps to catch the ball in an imaginary flight path behind the action (or God forbid he isn't good enough to read a ball as pro keeper) . When everyone else has missed it he punches it. or flaps if there is any pressure on him away from the ball if it is followed up by extra runners.
Shot stopper argument, yeah he can stop shots but with the right angle what 6'3+ (professional) keeper can't? His fear of injury even stop's him from dropping quickly at awkward angles to make saves.
It is a tactical gift to any opposition and if you cast your mind back we did it when he was at hearts before he was glass . He went down south and stopped shots with a better defense in front of him than th jambos . His injuries added to his lack of courage. Anyone that knew anything about his game could take him to the cleaners years ago and we did . It's worse now because he is f**ked and can't take a hit.
Wake up and watch this guy.

22.) 31 Jul 2016 05:21:14
My old granny would of kicked him up and down the trongate without breaking sweat. He would of apologised for signing after the kicking.

23.) 31 Jul 2016 05:32:28
Too late :/.

{Ed001's Note - never too late, should be done now for you.}

24.) 31 Jul 2016 05:37:47
bugger, must be a problem, i will get it looked at.

25.) 31 Jul 2016 05:56:27
Non post again!
thanks for nipping that for me ed001 I appreciate it. I've had my say and I'll retire to my kip.
I'm sure my old granny would of though Gordon was a "lovely boy" (most of the time)

{Ed001's Note - hahaha maybe. You can never tell with women, they can be evil when they want to be!}

26.) 31 Jul 2016 06:50:53
Agree ambrose must go. However what about Scott brown? Total waste of a jersey!

27.) 31 Jul 2016 12:23:53
What has happened to the best fans in the world, we are barely under way this season and the only ones squabbling are us! It's laughable, if ambrose plays support him, we all know he struggles to handle the pressure. Sometimes I think some of us want players to fail. Personally if efe starts against Astana, I'll be supporting him from the north stand.
I'm also guilty of this. and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone. Ynwa efe.

28.) 01 Aug 2016 18:09:59
Its unbelievable that we played possibly the best team in the world on Saturday and we were presented with the softest goal I have ever seen us getting . No abuse from the Barcelona fans scattered around the stadium or no boos .

For those who think the answer is that Efe only gets abuse because he has made so many mistakes . He has been abused and booed for a long time and Craig Gordon has made more mistakes than Efe had made when he was first abused.

Will come back better and more experienced. Considering he doesn't start for us, it's good for the player to go and get some game time. Having said that I believe he should've been given more of a chance.

Not going to lie, I think Yaya is past his best and although he'd do a job in the spl. I would much rather have tierney for more years to come. Kolo however should be a solid player. Bit off topic but I also think janko has a bright future as a fullback, from what I've seen in pre season he looks very promising.

I personally believe that rogic is one of the best players at the club and I'd be very surprised if he isn't a crucial part of BRs plans this year. Problem is we have too many midfielders who haven't had a chance to prove themselves, I'd love to see them in action more often this season (Christie, Allan, Henderson etc. ) . I'm sensing big things to come at paradise this season with so much talent in our team. Just need to make it through that champions league qualification and I believe we may have something special.

Agreed, I heard from a friend who knows one of Celtics physios. The physio said that Jozo could be another Van Dijk for what he's seen. Never write him off too early!

I'm no fan of Forrest but when he plays well he can run at players. Trying to give their fullbacks a shock I think with paddy and James. Rogic should start ahead of mcgregor imo.

To be honest when Ambrose plays full back, he's not half a bad player. I just get very scared when he plays at center back.

Completely agree mate! And people wonder how Celtic can compete on this crazy market with average players going for 20 mill plus. I reckon we should ditch expensive leagues and pick up players from the likes of the Dutch and Belgian leagues as there are a few players there that are yet to be discovered and bought for 20 million by an overrated English club. Unfortunately with these prices rising and rising, Celtic just can't compete anymore.

Yes it would be, I think dembele has been unfairly criticised since he has come, his hold up play has been very good and in my opinion it's only a matter of time before he ends up scoring.
