Ed, One name that hasn't been mentioned this transfer window is Martin Odegaard at Real Madrid. Is there still an interest in him or did that end when Ronny left.

{Ed007's Note - He'll either be loaned to another Spanish team or stay at Madrid.}

1.) 24 Aug 2016 09:47:45
Cheers Ed, One more question if you have time. If we draw Man City in Groups stage can we play Roberts against them, Assuming we don't buy him this week and its still the 18month loan deal.

{Ed007's Note - Going back to when Atletico Madrid had Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois on loan, UEFA said that:

'Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match. It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned.
Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly.'

Basically even if there is such a clause in the loan deal it is not enforceable under UEFA statutes.}

2.) 24 Aug 2016 10:32:12
Might not be able to inforce it but think it could wreck our good relationship with city though.

3.) 24 Aug 2016 10:44:12
Thanks for taking the time to reply with that Ed. Paddy Power!

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

4.) 24 Aug 2016 11:12:58
Mo Bangura.

5.) 24 Aug 2016 15:55:10
Roberts stated at the start of the season that if the situation arose then he would play against them.
Also remember Courtois being allowed to play for Atletico Madrid v Chelsea when he was on loan a few years back.

6.) 26 Aug 2016 07:33:32
Seen somewhere than man city won't stand in his way if he wants to play against them.

Hi Ed,

Any truth in the Snodgrass rumours. I would love to see him at Celtic Park. For me he is Scotland best player when fit, He knows everything about the Club and would give his all in the Hoops. I read an article recently where he said every training session he stays behind to work on different aspects of his game. That's the type of player I want to see in our team. Not sure what he would cost I think he has one year left on his contract but maybe last seasons injury might take the asking price down. If the rumours are true I hope we get him in asap rather than get him on a pre contract in January.

{Ed007's Note - As far as I know there's no truth in the rumours, Stan.}

1.) 23 May 2016 12:00:58
Dammit, ok thanks Ed.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

2.) 23 May 2016 12:56:17
He'd be a very good signing for me too Stan!

3.) 23 May 2016 15:19:17
If it was true I would imagine him been on a decent wage.

4.) 24 May 2016 12:59:56
Apparently he has bought a house in Newton Mearns - but not because he is moving club- because his wife prefers to live in Scotland and can't settle down south?

5.) 24 May 2016 14:10:39
Snodgrass definitely bought the house in Newton Mearns its around the corner from me and he bought it off of Kenny Miller, pretty well documented.

Great Signing if it comes off and a likely one IMO.

Dermot Desmond on Sly Spurts "We have talked to a lot of Managers, Hoping to appoint within 4 or 5 days if we complete negotiations. We are looking forward to building up to be a Champions League Club.

Have to say I am impressed with these words it's what I want to hear.

1.) 18 May 2016 14:04:55
As the saying goes words are cheap.

2.) 18 May 2016 14:05:13
Also actions speak louder than words.

3.) 18 May 2016 14:13:12
Time will tell Marco.

4.) 18 May 2016 15:25:19
Just watched that DD interview - got to be BR surely?

Getting excited, I'd love it to be him - but we e all been here before.

Away for a wee lie down.

5.) 18 May 2016 18:14:33
Call me cynic but there's season tickets to be sold and we've ate apple of this cart before, I will believe him when I see the new manager on the steps outside Celtic Park .

17 May 2016 14:56:56
breaking rumour on Sly Spurts Celtic holding more talks with Brendan Rodgers today.

1.) 17 May 2016 15:07:25
Did I really write that!

28 Apr 2016 16:46:37
Paul Lambert talking live on TV, Jim Whyte says Paul you had 7 great years at Celtic, Paul replies I had 8 great years there you missed one out. When asked about Celtic job he said all he is concentrating on is the next 2 games for Blackburn and that he wished that Ronny would win the League.

1.) 28 Apr 2016 17:54:44
I would have no problem with lambert coming in wouldn't be my first choice mind you but we can certainly and have done worse IMO.

2.) 28 Apr 2016 18:24:10
Hardly shows any ambition with names like Lambert and McKay being linked with the job. Saying that, most of the names associated with the position are hardly ones to excite the fans. I'm sick of the usual suspects who are linked with us, both players and management. We have the opportunity now to make the right decisions to take celtic forward and develop the team we deserve.

3.) 28 Apr 2016 18:43:21
I would be ok with Lambert getting it myself Dundeebhoy, 33-1 into 7/ 4 with one statement.

4.) 28 Apr 2016 19:06:33
What makes lambert, mckay, Clarke etc stand out? It's obviously not their hugely successful management careers to date, or the exciting football their teams play or the European pedigree. They are no better than the money saver we just wasted 18 months on. Don't give me the celtic connection rubbish either. Just because some of the names played for us doesn't automatically make them good managers. Well be blindfold led to a manager sorry, coach who won't rock the boat, who will do the boards bidding and pretty much do the same as RD. Celtic fans have been short changed and misled for years now. Unless he'll freezes over it will be more of the same.

5.) 28 Apr 2016 19:49:13
Its where we are as a club under DD and PL that's our targets get used to it.

Interesting viewing - The Asterisk Years - Documentary, The Edinburgh Establishment v Celtic.

1.) 19 Jan 2017 20:12:25
Sick to my stomach watching that.

When you realise the level of cheating and financial doping that went on you wonder how we ever stood a chance.

2.) 19 Jan 2017 21:37:06
Wow, what an eye opener watching that. The older I get, the worse my feelings towards that mob become. Bunch of "entitled" tossers who would do anything to win, tread on anyone who dared get in their way. And it all boils down to some good old fashioned cheating with some bigotry thrown in for good measure. And when the rubbish hits the fan, they scarper with as much coin as they can carry. All of them, even down to the chunky one on gardening leave. God bless Fergus, Mr Keane et all, true fans with morals

Would just like to wish you all a Happy New Year, Best wishes and good health to you and your families for 2017. Also to the many great people who contribute to making this such a good site. Hopefully get back to making a contribution myself.

Would just like to add a wee special mention for Armstrong and Izzy. Really think they have been outstanding these last couple of months.

All the best to you all, HH.

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year, Stan.}

1.) 04 Jan 2017 13:01:32
Happy new year Stan, how's your dad doin? A was going to ask ed if he'd spoke to u recently.

2.) 04 Jan 2017 17:23:43
Thanks Gents.

He's doing really well thanks Steph.

3.) 05 Jan 2017 16:30:12
Pretty disgusted that anyone would disagree with that comment considering my dad goes back into hospital tomorrow. Regardless if its a Rangers fan using this site or one of our own you a vile through and through. A coward hiding behind a computer.

Morning Tims hoping someone can help me i'm looking for a site that sells adult Celtic Bucket Hats. I have one from the mid 90s but its in mint condition and it's not one i want to lose so looking to buy more. Can only see infant/ kids ones. Any help appreciated.

1.) 23 Sep 2016 09:13:54
I looked myself for the summer could only find the ultras one. It's decent, I'm just not an ultra.

2.) 23 Sep 2016 09:30:27
Aye saw them JT, Was hoping to find one similar to what i have the green white green one with the crest in the middle. A Jackson Pollock spash in our colours would be smart.

3.) 23 Sep 2016 11:08:11
I can just picture you bouncing away to some roses in that with some green tinted shades. All I can think is to get one embroidered especially. Pimp your own bucket hat.

4.) 23 Sep 2016 12:50:18
Check eBay buddy.

5.) 23 Sep 2016 13:05:15
If i wasnt so proud of its age and condition i'd have worn it at the Roses in Dublin. Quite like the idea of making my own one JT. No joy Marco but will keep trying.

6.) 23 Sep 2016 17:39:34
Stan, search Google for green and white bucket hats, a just did it n found a couple that look like American sports ones. Just buy a celtic crest n get your Mrs or someone else to sow it on for u, that's if u can't do it yourself. 😀.

Watching last nights game got me thinking afterwards about when I first started following Celtic and why I chose Celtic. I was born in 78 and luckily my father drove me to home and away games from a very early age, A game at End End Park in the mid 80's was a stand out as i met McStay and Burns before the game, We drew that day but i didn't care i had met the guys who's names i would shout when kicking a ball in the park, They are still my hero's to this day. I didn't choose celtic because we were winning every game or winning trophies that was irrelevant at the time. The feeling of coming through the turnstiles and seeing the pitch from the Celtic End or the Jungle is something that will live with me forever. Not once did i want to stop attending when Rangers dominated. I was attending because i was in love with these players, with this stadium, with this green and white hoops, the history and everything our club stood for. We were and still are so different to the rest. Don't let defeats against world class teams like Barcelona get you down be happy about who you follow win lose or draw because one thing is for sure and i know i can speak for you all when i say i would rather spend a lifetime watching Celtic lose than be a Rangers/ Sevco fan. This season for me was about getting a bit of stability back on the field and we have done that quicker than i expected, We are not on a level with the top clubs in Europe money dictates that and i accept that. Regardless of my past finger pointing at Lawwell and Desmond we are in a very healthy position off the field and we are in a position to dominate Scottish football for a very long time so let's all enjoy that and get right behind BR and the players, Bigger and better clubs than us would have got beaten there last night. To finish, i know only too well how things can change very quickly in peoples lives so enjoy every minute and whether we win lose or draw no matter how hard it is to accept defeat remember why you support Celtic. Life is short so enjoy Celtic and enjoy your family and friends. Forever Celtic! Hail Hail.

1.) 14 Sep 2016 10:25:50
*East End Park.

2.) 14 Sep 2016 10:35:33
Well put Stan.

3.) 14 Sep 2016 16:45:01
Very well Stan, I said last night before the game this season was all about dominating domestically and from next season we will hope to become more competitive in Europe . I have as green tinted glasses as anyone but the form Barcelona was in last night would always be a step too far . We may meet them when the MSN are not all playing or whatever and compete with them.

01 Sep 2016 09:45:37
What a moanfest just because we didn't sign a so called marquee signing on the final day. We got our players in early, players that have walked into the starting 11. Add to that guys like Roberts who we are blessed to have, Simunovic fighting for a place and not to mention the many players from last season who look like new signing themselves. Get behind the players we have because they will destroy everything infront of them in the SPL. Can we raise our game in the Champions League again the so called best. of course we can. This is just the start of BR's reign and he is off to a flier. KTF.

1.) 01 Sep 2016 09:57:24
Well said Stan19 HH.

2.) 01 Sep 2016 10:29:00
I didn't think it likely that we would spend lots of money on deadline day.
We have to be realistic, our board are reluctant to spend money to get us into the Champions league when there is a £20m windfall on offer, so I honestly can't see them splashing the cash to try and finish 3rd in our CL group where the only reward is Europa league football, and that isn't very lucrative.
I think rightly or wrongly that the aims of the club have been met, we have the strongest squad in Scotland, and we have the windfall from the CL.
Maybe if we had an easier CL group, they may have been tempted to have a go and try to qualify for the last 16, but I don't think that we have the resources to challenge Barcelona or Man City. Unless either of these 2 badly underperform, the best we can manage is 3rd in the group.
This board will never spend money that they don't need to, I think that they'll view it that if we spent another £10m we wouldn't end the season with any more than we would currently.
It's actually quite hard to argue with that.

3.) 01 Sep 2016 15:27:02
Great post Stan. We're a matter of weeks into the Campaign and are already top of the league with a game in hand; into the CL; bought and are playing some of the most direct and exciting players I've seen at Paradise for a very long time and and young but experienced coaching staff and our fantastic supporters filling our top of the state stadium. I am one happy Celtic man and know we will only get stronger. Hail Hail.

If the Club wants to develop him into a CB then it's probably the best move for him at the moment as he's going to spend the best part of 90 mins defending with that lot.
