I see we are being linked to sunderlands Borini, any thoughts on this bhoys? I have not seen anything of him.
I expect the Scottish press will link us with everyone until the close of the transfer window. Any truth in this one?

1.) 13 Apr 2017 13:53:35
I think hed do well up here a bit lije sinclair has lost his way but imo hed score goals.

2.) 13 Apr 2017 17:53:36
i know this will get shot down and Sheffield Wednesday have a game tomorrow but i saw Garry Hooper today going through Lennoxtown.

3.) 14 Apr 2017 01:25:12
he was up at a funeral.

4.) 14 Apr 2017 08:08:38
I think there is better options than Borini, but I think we should be looking at players who have a bit more experience in Europe, id be looking into leagues with a lot of time for wingers like the Portuguese league or Dutch league. Not saying Borini wouldn't be a good signing just think there's a more wide variety of options for that sort of price.

5.) 14 Apr 2017 09:19:20
Like Sinclair I think borinis best days were playing under br at Swansea
Cheap journalists though
Links this summer will be borini routledge allen vorm
One name I'd love at Celtic is sigurdson if Swansea go down I think it could happen depending on what prem clubs are interested.

{Ed001's Note - Sigurdsson has made it known he wants out of Swansea.}

6.) 14 Apr 2017 09:29:47
Never really happened at spurs for him but I think he's the type of player Celtic should be looking at this close season
Not sure what sort of financial package would be required mind you but would expect around the same as what Sinclair is on.

7.) 14 Apr 2017 12:16:10
Swansea will want about 100 million dollars so can't see it. Some player though, he would be immense!

8.) 14 Apr 2017 22:37:42
borini is a plate of mince to my mums tatties.

24 Mar 2017 06:39:25
Anyone know when Rogic is due back?

Island celt

1.) 24 Mar 2017 12:12:02
I was just thinking the same thing, I hope Brendan and the coaching staff have arranged a friendly or a devolopment match or two to get him playing again.
If he makes the semi final, I have a good feeling as he will want to atone for that penalty miss last year (bl00dy Hampden pitch)
I would even have a bet on him scoring hail hail.

2.) 24 Mar 2017 15:05:33
When he started back training the gaffer said he was 4 weeks away.
Think that was 2 weeks ago.

A lot of talk regarding Gordon

Here is a question:
Gordon or Douglas?

Myself- Gordon

Island celt

1.) 26 Jan 2017 19:08:56
Douglas as in Rab Douglas?
I don't think that's even a debate.

2.) 26 Jan 2017 19:30:54
Douglas a bit old now at least Gordon has a year or two left?

3.) 26 Jan 2017 20:04:27
Not even debateable, Douglas was a horrible keeper

4.) 26 Jan 2017 20:16:25
Douglas was up there with Carl Muggleton. Cost us a UEFA Cup in my opinion. Not a big fan of Gordon but Douglas makes him look like Peter Schmeichel. Pity we didn't have Forster in nets against Porto.

5.) 26 Jan 2017 20:29:15
I'd take Ian Andrews purely for his Tennets Sixes performance ahead of Douglas

6.) 26 Jan 2017 21:48:37
Big rab was hopeless

7.) 26 Jan 2017 22:39:29
Douglas was good at the time. Gordon or de vries is more apt and it's Gordon every time.

8.) 26 Jan 2017 23:33:53
I always felt big Rab was by far the weak link back in the day.
We have never been blessed with solid keepers until the holy goals and big fraz.

A great celt but I never rated packie either.

10 Jan 2017 23:46:55
Everton and Man Utd agree a fee for schneiderlin (?)

Does this means James Mc is surplus to requirements?

Does the signing of the Ivory Coast lad mean we won't be interested in him?

Is James Mc a Brendan Rodgers target or was this all just speculation?

1.) 11 Jan 2017 01:51:37
This town ain't big enough for the both of um

2.) 11 Jan 2017 08:50:31
In the recent past you wouldn't think rglen, but that's where we've been brain-washed. Brown, McCarthy, Armstrong and Eboue as our CM options, tasty, and why the hell not? 👍

3.) 11 Jan 2017 11:18:09
First time poster always reading site tho I agree Jim y not have brown eboue mc carthy Armstrong competition for places can only b a good thing

4.) 11 Jan 2017 20:05:40
Welcome LB. Whilst having ose 4 CMs would be an improvement, imo, it really isn't unrealistic.

5.) 12 Jan 2017 01:57:31
that reminds me of that sparks song lol.

6.) 12 Jan 2017 07:39:16
Cleverly to Watford is the deal that sees Scheiderlin take his squad place

08 Dec 2016 22:02:40
Have you heard anything regarding Pat Roberts and the possibility of him signing for us?

If we made an offer and city were happy do you reckon he would want to stay?

Island celt

1.) 08 Dec 2016 22:06:04
Would love to see it happen, would not have dreamed of it being a possibility when he signed but if he did, I reckon it would be a massive coup.

2.) 08 Dec 2016 22:35:58
I would imagine Paddy has six months to make B R determined to want to buy him .
The same six months will probably have Manchester City deciding if they want to bring him into their squad, or loaned to another club or loaned again to Celtic or even sold.

3.) 08 Dec 2016 23:48:09
Likewise, think he could be a real quality player after a few seasons under Brendan Rodgers guidance.

4.) 09 Dec 2016 00:20:20
It's panto season so that means the start of the rumours for January. Lookin forward to what skinnybhoy has got info on but if am honest what a really want for Christmas is the return of hoops88.

5.) 09 Dec 2016 07:55:21
After the last window think skinny bhoys still under the bed.

6.) 09 Dec 2016 10:12:32
Sadly I can't see PR being with us for the start of next season whether we want him or not.

7.) 09 Dec 2016 17:35:45
Roberts will end up at some mid table English team sadly IMO. can't see us paying whatever city would be looking for I would imagine at least 8-10 million.

8.) 10 Dec 2016 09:31:51
Don't think there's any chance at all of paddy staying with us! He's said himself that he wants to go back down, and even if he did want to stay we wouldn't pay the fee Man City would be looking for! And IMO he ain't worth 10 million plus! Good wee player but not at that price! And to be fair he's hardly had a sniff this season! Sinclair and Forrest are BR first picks. so for me as much as I like him I just don't think there's any chance he'll be in the hoops next season!

9.) 10 Dec 2016 21:46:12
PR won't be bought off celtic for 10 million as city haven't even paid the full 12 million to fulham so that ruled out. Whether if both parties agree to stay at celtic then i'm not sure what value would be.

10.) 12 Dec 2016 15:01:07
the way he was talking on tuesday night i think the boy wants to return to city and try to make a go of it there, its a shame as i'm a big fan of the man.

11.) 12 Dec 2016 17:50:32
City paid six million up front apparently. the rest was for appearances, league, C. L. Winning caps and trophies. the usual stuff.

Not posted for a wee while - just wanted to say a few points:

-welcome aboard to the new bhoys, that Oliver looks a big lad let's hope he can bring it to our midfield.

-good luck to everyone on Friday (is the game on tv? What channel anyone? )

-I reckon there is quality to be added to the squad post CL qualification (fingers crossed)

-seen the Scott Sinclair banner in NI - complete disgrace, what sane people must think of this is beyond belief. He is a real talent and should be welcomed by one and all into the scottish game. Acts like this must deter decent people.

-don't want their tainted titles, but I would encourage fans of all clubs to unite and force a review- cheats are cheats, but for the SFA to condone it makes a mockery of football and our country.

-I'm still clinging to hope of Paddy in green and white hoops with a no. 7 on his back.

-I reckon johnny Hayes will bust a gut for us this year.

All The best troops.

See BBC sport reporting that aiden mcgeady is off to Sunderland.

What's does everyone think - has he made the most of his career, developed significantly since he left the hoops?

I thought it was a bold statement by moving to Eastern Europe when he left us, but I never felt he delivered that much in England. It was time for him to move when he did go - I felt he was never going to progress any further at Celtic - similar to Forrest in that respect (in my opinion) .

Good luck to him - I enjoyed his time in the hoops.

1.) 04 Jul 2017 19:08:35
I always enjoyed watching Aiden, The twist and turn for the Scott McDonald goal at Pittodrie a stand out memory for me. He's looked like his old self this season plenty game time and the chance to show what he could do regulary. I'd have accepted him back at Paradise no problem. Good luck to him.

2.) 04 Jul 2017 19:06:02
he picked Ireland over prodland, that was enough for me to like him, i wish i had the chance to play for Ireland and Celtic.

3.) 04 Jul 2017 20:43:22
He had his time with us and we got great service but, I never believe in bringing any player back who voluntarily left us (either for money, bigger league or both)
They are never going to be the same and we will always reflect back to when they gave us their best. Returning is a bit like admitting, I made a mistake leaving.
Same with aging stars looking for a final pay packet and how it was always an ambition to play for us. Yeh, right. If that was the case why wait until their twilight years? Why not fulfill that ambition while they are in peak condition?

06 Jun 2017 17:17:49
If we loose moussa but keep paddy before the CL qualifiers would everyone be confident of securing the group stages?

I am resigned to loosing the moose, but I'm am clinging to the hope of signing PR.

If this was to happen I would still be confident of CL qualification, and we should have a massive transfer budget/ attraction for transfer targets etc in support of next season.

Risky strategy or the sensible option?

How can you claim to be a Celtic supporter and not believe a word our club, our football management and indeed Dembele himself .
The only people that constantly say Dembele is for the off is the MSSM . I don't believe a word they say or print . Obviously you do Island Celt.

2.) 07 Jun 2017 08:15:51
I hope you're being sarcastic chris?

My opinion is that an offer will come in for dembelle (although I hope it doesn't) and the club won't stand in his way.

This has haw to do with the media.

I also hope paddy will stay but I've been got nothing to go on apart from gossip.

You form your own opinions I won't question your Logic, however I do take offence at you intimating that I'm not a celtic supporter.

3.) 07 Jun 2017 11:48:26
Dembelle is a much more important player for progress in Europe than PR, hope Dembelle stays for another season at least.

4.) 08 Jun 2017 15:36:59
Dembele will stay. don't believe the Chelsea and inter Milan guff. They will buy the finished artical especially Chelsea. He is here for another year then when he has had a CL run and another season he will go. Hope so anyway.

5.) 08 Jun 2017 15:57:52
Island Celt . I am certainly not being sarcastic but I cannot for the life of me understand when a player says he isn't leaving and when the club say the same, I am afraid I cannot understand why someone who I presume want him to stay says he is going . Unfortunately you arn't a lone and I would hate our fans to be seen opening the door for Dembele to leave . His agent could pick up fans talking up his departure .

Maybe you are too young to remember H Larrsson at Celtic . He stayed with us for 7 yrs . Nearly every year there were rumours of him leaving .
We never received a bid because when Manchester United Barcelona and others showed interest Dermot Desmond reminded them they had a team full of stars, he told them we had only one and wouldn't welcome a bid . I don't think we got one .

Talk up our club, be proud of what we have and keep the glass half full and don't indicate you are not a Celtic fan.

A wee post for our older supporters who had the joy of the lions in their prime.
Hats off to all you gents for the insights and banter, you've followed Celtic through the majestical stein era, the quality street era, the 'new firm' 80's, the brutal 90s, the joyous MON Seville days, the cost cutting that followed and now history being made under Brendan's tenure. Unbridled history from our team, management and fans. Much respect to you all, you been there and done it and bought the strip!

And did I mention you have seen the demise of the club formally know as Glasgow Rangers.

Hail Hail.

1.) 29 May 2017 14:57:47
@Island celt yes all the good times (Lisbon, Seville, Brendan) sure make up for all the bad years, and there were plenty and where I lived in a hun infested area to be a Tim could be quite intimidating with all their "superiority" and "" complex.
But Karma as they say comes to them all, the day after Lisbon is the one I remember best, all us young schoolboy Tims appeared on the street, must have been 30 of us, all in our CELTIC STRIPS, blue Kinning Park was GREEN AND WHITE THAT DAY.

2.) 29 May 2017 15:04:10
Remember all those periods in our illustrious history - including the memorable Centenery season in '88.
I started a post yesterday about the unique achievements and history of our club and the stories our fathers and grandfathers passed on about Tully, Gallagher, Fernie, Evans and all - plus the one-off highlights like the Empire Exhibition and Coronation cups and I was reminded of an old video I used to own where Big Billy stated that there has always been a 'fairy tale' factor about Celtic FC with their unparalleled achievements, vast array of talent and almost legendary roots and foundations.
Fortunately every generation of supporter has some special memory - some more than others; however the Magic of Celtic appeals to and embraces all ages, creeds, colour and gender. HH.

3.) 29 May 2017 18:17:43
I started following Celtic in the late 80s
Totally heartbroken throughout the 90s
Patience is a virtue for a tim
Karma is a bitch for a blue nose.

4.) 29 May 2017 22:29:18
The 90s was painful being a young lad and having to see them win 9 in a row, as painful as it was there was nothing like going through the turnstile of the jungle and rushing through to get a glimpse of the players on the park warming up. Always remember the players warming up and the song Sunshine on a rainy day - Zoe would always be playing on the tannoy, sitting on the railing looking around the ground. looking up to see the rope around the framework above, Concept Group written on the roof of the Celtic End, the orange seats in the South Stand, chants of "oh Mikey Mikey. Mikey Mikey Mikey Mikey Galloway. Remember a peach he scored against Dundee Utd from about 30 yeards. I think that same day Mark McNally scored a header from the edge of the box and we beat them 4-0 or 4-1. Considering they were on their way to 9 every game at Celtic park was special I still miss the old ground. Then onto the new Stadium, being on the pitch after the St Johnstone game, dancing to Roll with it before every game, the buzz that we were back and we were strong on and off the park. Will always be grateful to Fergus I hope it isn't too long before there is a statue of the man outside Paradise, How fitting it would be for his statue to be fan funded. I'm sure people that boo'ed on flag day now see what the man did for us, he laid the bricks for where we are now. We may have taken our eye of the ball and I have been very vocal about this Board but they have turned it around we are starting to act like a big club and its now time to invest and really push on and get us back to where we belong. Maybe the best Era is about to come. It is always a great time to be a Tim but it's even better when you know the other lot are a complete embarrassment so c'mon Celtic stick your foot on their throat and don't ever let them get back up again.

Well said Welshboy RD did not have the stature (Or experience maybe? ) to fully implement his ideas, but I firmly believe the steps he took has assisted Rodgers in his task. On top of which he won two title to keep us on track for the 10 in a row and almost won a treble in his first season. He was not everyone's cup of tea but his place in history is there for me.
I would like to see some form of link up with Ronnie, I thought he was intelligent and forward thinking.

Did Kris commons every play under BR?

Fair point ed, do you reckon he is better than joe Ledley? I'm a big fan of SA but thought Joe was a cracking player. I like SA in the no.10 role but I think a fully fit 90 mins Rogic is a better option.

Island celt

{Ed007's Note - That's a tough one because I thought Ledley was a top player for us but Armstrong is the best box to box, goal scoring midfielder we've had since Stan Perov.}

I would like SA to stay, but if he wants to go so be it. He may find the grass is not always greener or he may kick on and do really well. I don't agree with some of the posts essentially slagging the boy off - the business model for celtic seems to be to offer players an opportunity to delevop and if they want to move on don't stand in there way. Just because he is Scottish and came from Utd doesn't mean he owes us anything and shouldn't follow a similar path to English or European players.
He was repeated played out of position in his first season and to my knowledge just cracked on with it, then he turned in a solid season with a good goals return under BR. All on modest (in comparison with our top earners) wages.
He is not a Celtic fan, but let's wish him well, cash in while we can and hope he promotes the club to other players in England.

He'll be missed but he's not irreplaceable and he hasn't done anything to warrant a slagging.

Island celt

{Ed007's Note - The SA was being played out of position is a myth, he played on the left of the Dundee Utd midfield for most of his time there. The problem was he wasn't a winger, he was a left sided midfielder similar to Joe Ledley.}
