Just a general point on how quick your fortunes can turn:
Paddy roberts ran riot second half of last season, fast forward to now and he's been hindered by disjointed pre season, indifferent form and injuries. Bit gutted for the wee man, but this season won't boost his city first team aspirations. On another note James Forrest- a few big goals this year.

1.) 30 Nov 2017 12:32:20
makes you kind of glad we didn't pay 12 million for him but all in all a very good footballer who improves our team.

2.) 30 Nov 2017 15:21:23
I think it is his poor pre season that has probably brought on these injuries IC. Everyone else was getting game time and a proper work out through the summer while he was sitting on planes and benches. It's a shame we didn't get him in earlier. Credit to JF though who has certainly been our star performer this season.

{Ed007's Note - You've hit the nail on the head, Stan regarding Roberts' preseason. While we were playing competitive matches and Euro qualifiers he was travelling the world sitting on City's bench.
If you remember back to last year Roberts had the same stuttering start to the season because he was behind everyone else fitness and sharpness wise, how many competitive games had we played before Roberts signed this summer? For the first couple of months of the season he's playing catch up with the rest of the squad who done a full preseason with us and played CL and SPFL games.}

3.) 30 Nov 2017 18:51:13
It might allow us to pick him up permanently in the summer.

4.) 30 Nov 2017 23:01:59
There is always an excuse for Paddy Roberts, I am not sure the Celtic fan base ever had the same sympathy for one of own home produced stars James Forrest who unless he is giving a MOTM performance can expect to hear " go to f. k Forrest you are useless"

5.) 01 Dec 2017 00:29:42
Now it's third instalment do we change it up or go with same again thanks?

Lustig Boyata jozo Tierney

Brown. Armstrong

Hayes. Rogic. Forrest

6.) 01 Dec 2017 06:28:17
The pre season definitely didn’t help him, mind you no one has looked overly sharp so far! Bit unfair maybe, still unbeaten, Top of the league, silverware in the bag and a CL away win.

Discounted bid for Paddy maybe?

7.) 01 Dec 2017 21:46:26
who is to say forest isn't play so well because there's competition for his place.

as long as we are winning Roberts/ forest what's the diff.

8.) 02 Dec 2017 13:57:23
The criticism Forrest has received was wholly justified. He has failed to reach the potential he showed. His final ball was arm tricuspid and he never scored enough goals.

You don't get a by because you are home produced. I'm home produced, can I get a game.

Forrest has upped his game at last. It's only taken 7 years. He needs to keep it up or he will lose his place, which is the way we moved forward. Home produced does trump talent.

He has no one to blame but himself for chronic inconsistency and no one to rely on to keep in the team but himself also.

9.) 02 Dec 2017 14:35:04
Paddy out for 3 months so let's see Forrest keep up his form with no competition. I am more of competitive threat than Hayes.

Over to you James, show everyone you can maintain form. Be a nice change for everyone concerned.

10.) 02 Dec 2017 18:28:54
Way to go James. Well played son.

Lots of talk about it's a good thing that Scotland didn't qualify- players should be proud to represent their country, winning caps and competing against the best in the world should be considered an honour.
Top players play in tournaments - all the pish about how Celtic are better off grips me.

Quality players win games, raise the profile of the game in this country, inspire youngsters.
The manager didn't get it right but all this were better off malarky is dross.
I'm sick of the international game but it's all down to this glorious failure tripe. How about glorious results.
Scottish club Irish history, come on the republic tonight and here to Scotland in the next euros.

Island celt

1.) 10 Oct 2017 11:46:13
I'm furious we didn't qualify, We have that players we just need a manager who is willing to use them and play players on form not sticking with favourites who have let him down in the past. I would rather Celtic had a squad of internationals playing at World Cups and the Euros as it means we have a squad of world class players. Infact i long for the day when the Scotland team is 11 Tims!

2.) 11 Oct 2017 18:43:41
I blame Scotland for not Qualifying on the SFA not any players and not really the management team. But the football set up in this country is poor to say the least and that in my opinion comes down to Regan and the SFA and until he is removed from the position he is in and some one New comes in with fresh ideas and commitment we will always remain a 3rd rate country as far as football is concerned.

31 Aug 2017 17:11:06
Heard in Bristol today that we are after some highly rated centre half. Can't remember the boys name, half a story here but thought I'd pass it on.

13 Apr 2017 09:27:27
I see we are being linked to sunderlands Borini, any thoughts on this bhoys? I have not seen anything of him.
I expect the Scottish press will link us with everyone until the close of the transfer window. Any truth in this one?

Island celt

1.) 13 Apr 2017 13:53:35
I think hed do well up here a bit lije sinclair has lost his way but imo hed score goals.

2.) 13 Apr 2017 17:53:36
i know this will get shot down and Sheffield Wednesday have a game tomorrow but i saw Garry Hooper today going through Lennoxtown.

3.) 14 Apr 2017 01:25:12
he was up at a funeral.

4.) 14 Apr 2017 08:08:38
I think there is better options than Borini, but I think we should be looking at players who have a bit more experience in Europe, id be looking into leagues with a lot of time for wingers like the Portuguese league or Dutch league. Not saying Borini wouldn't be a good signing just think there's a more wide variety of options for that sort of price.

5.) 14 Apr 2017 09:19:20
Like Sinclair I think borinis best days were playing under br at Swansea
Cheap journalists though
Links this summer will be borini routledge allen vorm
One name I'd love at Celtic is sigurdson if Swansea go down I think it could happen depending on what prem clubs are interested.

{Ed001's Note - Sigurdsson has made it known he wants out of Swansea.}

6.) 14 Apr 2017 09:29:47
Never really happened at spurs for him but I think he's the type of player Celtic should be looking at this close season
Not sure what sort of financial package would be required mind you but would expect around the same as what Sinclair is on.

7.) 14 Apr 2017 12:16:10
Swansea will want about 100 million dollars so can't see it. Some player though, he would be immense!

8.) 14 Apr 2017 22:37:42
borini is a plate of mince to my mums tatties.

24 Mar 2017 06:39:25
Anyone know when Rogic is due back?

Island celt

1.) 24 Mar 2017 12:12:02
I was just thinking the same thing, I hope Brendan and the coaching staff have arranged a friendly or a devolopment match or two to get him playing again.
If he makes the semi final, I have a good feeling as he will want to atone for that penalty miss last year (bl00dy Hampden pitch)
I would even have a bet on him scoring hail hail.

2.) 24 Mar 2017 15:05:33
When he started back training the gaffer said he was 4 weeks away.
Think that was 2 weeks ago.

03 Dec 2017 14:43:35
How did Johnny Hayes play yesterday?
I read BRs comments saying he was worth pass marks?

Island celt

1.) 03 Dec 2017 14:55:41
Was good. A 7 or 7.5 rating I'd say. Best he's played for us.

2.) 03 Dec 2017 15:04:51
I thought he was excellent - won nearly every tackle he went in for and his delivery on his right foot was good almost every time. He gave Motherwell a lot of problems and linked up well. He tired and was subbed after about an hour but I suppose that was likely due to his lack of games.

Best game in a Celtic jersey by a mile.

{Ed007's Note - I thought the same myself about Hayes. I'd have liked him to get a goal though which would maybe have given him a real confidence boost as I've heard that getting his dream move to us has been weighing him down a bit.}

3.) 03 Dec 2017 23:24:45
I thought the team played v well yesterday mainly due to the high pace generated by Hayes and Sincair . Ntcham was brilliant in midfield and our new striker looked excellent.

15 Oct 2017 08:50:08
How did we get on yesterday troops?
Looked like a line up far from our first, best eleven, so happy with the win
How did the ntcham and kouassi pairing look?

Island celt

1.) 15 Oct 2017 09:16:17
Not good to be honest, but apart from Paddy you could say that about everyone.

2.) 15 Oct 2017 09:42:29
Celtic were very poor. Could hardly find a team mate with a pass, had very little in the last third, Grifiths and McGreggor were particularly brutal, Sinclair was off the boil and Paddy was too deep to be effective and didn't deserve MOTM for me. Though Boyata had a good game and De Vries was outstanding. In fairness while we were pants Dundee played well and took the game to us and always think Paul McGowan is not a bad player and should have made more of his chance with us than he did. ☘️.

3.) 15 Oct 2017 17:58:18
Agree with everything we were Brutal but Dundee kicked us off the pitch that little Rat McCann tactics were if it has a Celtic top on then kick it.

4.) 15 Oct 2017 22:07:02
I don't really agree with this resting players before a big game, I think unless the player is injured he should play, a team that plays together, develops together, grows together, gets to know each others little ways, and all that, moreso after an international break, where the Celtic players have been taken out of the Celtic routine, I just don't understand it, it is almost like we are going back to the bad old days of Ronnie, (who's managing methods seem to be getting more blizzard)

24 Aug 2017 19:16:22
Great draw for me, a bit of glamour, different away trips, and for me every reason to be optimistic.

What's the point of being in the CL if it's not to test yourself against the best?
In pot 4 we were always up against it. In fact Being in the CL we are always going to be up against it. I reckon we've a good shout for third.
Keep the faith troops.
By the way I hope neymar gets his cumupince of of big Mikel. Can't stand the man, maybe send on Ralston to half him.

Island celt

1.) 24 Aug 2017 19:33:49
Good draw but realistically third looks doable but you never know.

22 Aug 2017 19:49:21
Bit of a wake up call tonight:

Wasteful in midfield (brown especially)
Keeper beaten near post (again)
Wasteful of chances (griff for Europe? )
Young guys inexperienced at this level but will benefit from this game
Teams who press us high up the park will either get slaughtered on the counter or will reap the rewards.

Great job to qualify delighted for us all, this team is building and learning every game.

Imagine this draw:

Real Madrid

Regardless of the draw it's great to be back in the group stages.

Island celt

1.) 22 Aug 2017 20:05:34
Definitely a wake up call ralston ajer out of their depth. I know biton only covering but hurry back all our cbs. Needing cb with pace. overall good experience for the young guys tonight. Let's. Get a good draw for a change .

2.) 22 Aug 2017 20:10:56
id much rather something along the lines of spartak Porto and Liverpool.

3.) 22 Aug 2017 20:25:21
Spartan Moscow Porto Basel then I would be looking for top of section. As long as all players are back including PR.

4.) 22 Aug 2017 21:06:21
Can't say I thought either ajer or Ralston looked out of their depth tonight . biton yes.

5.) 22 Aug 2017 22:01:35
DRB - I know you champion the youth but the pair of them where well of it tonight.

Bitton did as well as he could in that position. I personally at one point thought Rodgers had made an arse of it tonight. But . I should never doubt the man as he hasn't let us down once.

6.) 22 Aug 2017 22:39:29
Kev I watched game again there and the two worst performers in defence imo where lustig and biton . thought ajer was the best of the 2/ 3 at cb and remember he too has only in the last season converted to cb. same with Ralston lustig was really bad at rb ( not much better at cb ) when moved in and i thought Ralston coming on shored it up . i don't know what you seen to think ajer or ralston done wrong . But everyone sees things slightly different i know.

{Ed007's Note - And Ajer is more used to playing on that kind of surface after spending a season at Kilmarnock.}

7.) 23 Aug 2017 08:28:58
Thought ajer did ok tbh, unlucky own goal, just hope he stops the bombing forward, got caught out a few times, reminded me of kolo last yr, im old school, as in a defender should defend first and foremost.

8.) 23 Aug 2017 12:06:03
Think your being a bit harsh lsland celt, yes we made a bit of hard work but 4-3 (8-4 on agg) is not bad result for going there, hearing there was some trouble from Astana fans too.

9.) 23 Aug 2017 12:14:37

Ralston in 18 years old, and Ajer 19. Give the kids a fecking break!

We gurn about youngsters not getting a chance and then slaughter them when they do. We won the tie, qualified and that experience will be invaluable to their development. The manager believes in their ability and has shown a great deal of faith pitching them into recent games. That may have been a bit of necessity, but I certainly don't think he done it out of sentiment.

10.) 23 Aug 2017 12:11:50
I would go with this draw.

12 Jul 2017 17:33:55
Not posted for a wee while - just wanted to say a few points:

-welcome aboard to the new bhoys, that Oliver looks a big lad let's hope he can bring it to our midfield.

-good luck to everyone on Friday (is the game on tv? What channel anyone? )

-I reckon there is quality to be added to the squad post CL qualification (fingers crossed)

-seen the Scott Sinclair banner in NI - complete disgrace, what sane people must think of this is beyond belief. He is a real talent and should be welcomed by one and all into the scottish game. Acts like this must deter decent people.

-don't want their tainted titles, but I would encourage fans of all clubs to unite and force a review- cheats are cheats, but for the SFA to condone it makes a mockery of football and our country.

-I'm still clinging to hope of Paddy in green and white hoops with a no. 7 on his back.

-I reckon johnny Hayes will bust a gut for us this year.

All The best troops.

Burley ruined it? Strange comment for me.

Burley was a massive player in the 1998 season and contributed to stopping 10 in a row. We should never forget that.

Some players love the club (most I hope) , some don’t. Some more than others. Either way I only ask for maximum effort when their on the pitch. The special combination of Celtic player ie talent and love for the hoops, will always be my favourite type of player, but I still love the memories of all our players (the good ones)
