Latest name to be rumoured with is danish left back casper hojer for 1.5m

Taylor's done ok so far but I think most fans want someone else in there with more speed who can take a man on and hit the byline the way tierney did. If we get someone half decent in there then I reckon it's been a pretty good window for us.

MarkM88

1.) 28 Sep 2020 08:48:40
Either way whether it's him or doughty we need another good left sided wb/ lb and it a decent window for once.

2.) 28 Sep 2020 09:42:34
I still think Christian Atsu is coming in this week.

3.) 28 Sep 2020 10:20:09
Taylor works very hard for the team and has been much more consistent than a lot of other players. Just because he is not KT, supporters are picking holes in his game while under-performers escape criticism He does not make the same mistakes or cause as many problems as when Bolingoli was playing and has made several assists and scored a goal. However, I do agree we need two players for every position; ideally with other attributes to vary our style and shape for each opponent and a fast, tricky left sided player would balance the squad.

4.) 28 Sep 2020 11:03:44
Think you're right Mally. A LWB with pace is what many of us have been saying since this window opened. If we get someone in that fits the bill and rotate him with Taylor, it could take the pressure off Taylor and help him as well as the team.

5.) 28 Sep 2020 11:09:03
Malika20 dae yeah Aye.

6.) 28 Sep 2020 11:49:17
What has Taylor got to do to prove himself. He has one goal and 8 assists in just 29 games comparable with KTs record. On Sunday he would have scored bur Elyounossi got in his way, His one decent chance to cross was faboulous it was just a shame that no one was able to get on the end of it. Frimpong put the it over the bar at the back post.
Frimpong is very young and none of his crosses was anywhere near as good. His final ball was hapazard, now be clear I am not anti Frimpong he is young and still learning, he can become a very good player but Taylor deserves credit too for what he has achieved.

7.) 28 Sep 2020 12:57:53
Jonace, Taylor had a good game yesterday as did the rest of the team and if it's 4 at the back, in Scotland, then he's yer man. He was pash midweek, loves a backward pass and cannot beat a man. If NL is going with wingbacks then he needs a LWB with pace and that's no Taylor. I'm sure there's plenty of supporters wished he was KT.

8.) 28 Sep 2020 14:07:38
Atsu no chance he'd a winger and not what we need . taylor does ok so the new guy is there to compete and we really need this one.

9.) 28 Sep 2020 16:46:31
Rich T, aye I do, he is most definitely the back up if we don’t get the Charlton boy, Hammond has Everyman and his dog out looking, they have left it too late.
Mallay your right he’s a flying winger, for me that’s ok because Taylor is a full back, nothing else, and he’s a decent full back so what we need is a left winger.

10.) 28 Sep 2020 16:48:04
I've always thought Taylor gets far too much criticism. He is a much better player than a lot of fans are willing to give him credit for and I don't understand why. He gives everything he has in every game and when the rest of the team are playing total piish it's unfair to single him out as not being good enough. HH.

11.) 28 Sep 2020 17:39:19
Malika20 if your right fair play to u but don't think so.

12.) 28 Sep 2020 18:31:08
Just remember that KT played further forward in the Development Squad before Ronny D tried him as a defender.

13.) 28 Sep 2020 22:37:58
Few good valid points made here, my own opinion is though that we do need an upgrade on that left hand side.
I'm not comparing taylor to tierney in the slightest, all I said is I think we need someone who can take his man on the way tierney did. Taylor has his own qualities and hasn't done a great deal wrong, after watching him in games though I just feel he lacks the willingness to take a man on and plays far too many back and side passes which results in our play slowing way down.
It's good that it's been pointed out about his assists and chances made, he gets himself into great positions and does make decent runs in behind at times, I just feel there's more of an upgrade required.

03 Sep 2020 23:24:51
Seen a report that we are interested in Southamptons wesley hoedt. Left sided centre back, been out on loan the past 18 months and available for 5m.

He's been linked with us a few times so most likely nothing concrete to it, if there's any truth to it though I'd be happy with him next to Duffy but.

24 Aug 2020 01:16:22
Apparently close to completing a 3m deal for David Turnbull. Providing he stays fit and is over the injury, would be a very good signing for us and most likely a replacement for rogic. We can't afford to miss out on him the same way we did with John mcginn.

Possibly going to be browns last season playing the majority of games so this looks like a long term replacement.

MarkM88

1.) 24 Aug 2020 08:39:02
Good young prospect. Take it that's Soro Celtic career finished another 2 million wasted. Wonder who his agent is 🤔🤔🤔🤔.

2.) 24 Aug 2020 09:25:56
Soro hasn't even been given a start in a competitive match - after such a long settling-in period and may be another Eboue, Benyu, Bayo, Hendry, and Daft Boli etc who never quite 'fitted-in to the plans'?

3.) 24 Aug 2020 10:03:46
Soro to be fair is a different type of player than turnbull. soro plays in the brown roll, and is fighting with McGregor and ntcham also. turnbull I would imagine will fight it out with christie for a place, and will be a direct replacement for tam rogic.

4.) 24 Aug 2020 10:09:58
Turnbull and Soro play different positions.

5.) 24 Aug 2020 10:23:32
Correct sos.

6.) 24 Aug 2020 13:41:07
According to Turnbull family its speculation.

7.) 24 Aug 2020 21:35:45
Soro looks a competent and capable midfielder, why hasn't he been given more game time?, Ntcham should be starting every game, why doesn't he?, If we sign Turnbull, how many games will he start?, or will he just interchange with Christie?, there is one answer to all these questions.

20 Aug 2020 12:10:44
Newest rumour today is that rogic could be used as part of a deal to sign duffy, would be a brilliant piece of business if true but can't see Brighton taking the chance with his fitness and injury the record the past 2 seasons.

MarkM88

1.) 20 Aug 2020 12:15:38
Sky reporting he's close to quatar move 3.5 mill.

2.) 20 Aug 2020 12:36:04
Think they are saying we'll be using the money from Rogic sale to get Duffy rather than part exchange.

3.) 20 Aug 2020 12:55:11
Think that's it exactly Tompo.

4.) 20 Aug 2020 13:34:00
Read that aswell tompo, one report is saying brighton maintain an interest in rogic though and celtic could include him but I would be taking these reports with a pinch of salt.

Best case scenario is for us to sell rogic for 4m and use it to get Duffy and Turnbull in.

5.) 20 Aug 2020 17:18:14
I think Rogic is happy to go to Quatar as the cash will I presume be decent plus it’s a lot closer to home in Australia? Win win for the big man.

6.) 20 Aug 2020 20:45:45
The league standard is ABYSMAL . if he goes it is about money and close to home. not the standard of league or becoming a better player

Did he not play footy on sand is his early days?

14 Aug 2020 10:15:28
Shane Duffy and Barry Douglas the two latest names to be linked.
Would take Duffy in a heartbeat, not so sure about Douglas though.

Would be decent cover and a good option to push taylor but he's been blighted with injury the past few seasons.

MarkM88

1.) 14 Aug 2020 12:40:04
I'd take Duffy in a heartbeat, Douglas though is a big rangers fan. More likey he goes to them if barasic goes.

We already needed an LB upgrade, now We definitely need an upgrade at LB.

2.) 14 Aug 2020 13:00:43
Why worry about who he supports? Kenny Dalglish was a rangers fan! Broony too. I care only if he's good enough.

{Ed007's Note - Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor and James Forrest were all Rangers fans when they were younger. McGregor's family are still TRIFC supporters and are at Ibrox every week.}

3.) 14 Aug 2020 13:05:01
If we got Duffy in the door and played 3-5-2 and managed to keep edouard i reckon we could be a force to be reckoned with.
Frimpong at right wing back would give Forrest the kick up the backside he needs to battle for his position, a decent left back in to push taylor and this would be a cracking window for us.

4.) 14 Aug 2020 13:23:47
Never knew that at all about Cal-Mac and JF; Well there ye go.
Maybe that's why James has been quiet against them lately ha ha.
Get yerself onto Mastermind, with The Bhoys as your specialist subject. You're a mine of unlimited Celtic Trivia lol.

{Ed007's Note - Hasn't that been done already? I do love quizzes though.}

5.) 14 Aug 2020 14:18:18
I'm very surprised to hear that about Forrest tbh. No idea why, he's just been part of the furniture so long I just assumed he was a Tim.

6.) 14 Aug 2020 14:49:02
Jock Stein and Danny Mcgrain were as well.

7.) 14 Aug 2020 15:05:05
Forrest is definitely a tim.

8.) 14 Aug 2020 17:45:29
I think it’s fair to say he’s a Tim now and so is his brother but he wasn’t brought up the that way (bad parenting) but fair play to his da after he was left waiting about in a corridor at rangers for hours twiddling thumbs his da said to him mon son let's go and see what Celtic have to offer. And as soon as they walked through the door Tommy Burns gave them the tour and the rest is history.

9.) 14 Aug 2020 20:40:47
I always thoughT Forrest had a Celtic daft grandad. Never knew that about him and Callum. Both model professionals, both here for the 10 Need more like them.

10.) 15 Aug 2020 00:52:24
There's probably countless players down the years who support one or the other but played for the opposite, as long as they're professional and give there all it shouldn't be an issue, scott brown was definetely a rangers fan when he was younger.

11.) 15 Aug 2020 01:02:42
Forrest, if he stays at Celtic till he retires, will probably have a record number of League winners medals (13 or 14) , like Giggs at Man Utd.

Seen that Gordon strachans name has now been thrown into the mix as a sort of "save our season" to replace Lennon. Supposedly he's still in good contact with lawwell and Desmond and having his son on the coaching team seems to be where the link is coming from.

Not sure how to feel about it all to be honest, when Lennons been out slating his team then I think it's a clear sign he's lost the dressing room, god I really hope we turn this season around.

MarkM88

1.) 23 Nov 2020 15:23:37
He'd do if he was taking over immediately until a permanent manager was appointed. I've a bad feeling Lennon is here to stay though. There hasn't even been the dreaded vote of confidence.

2.) 23 Nov 2020 15:35:37
I think WGS could be a good hand on Neils shoulder as a short term solution. He’s a motivator and can set up a team and played and managed at the highest level and is more than fit for the Steven Gerard fan club aka the MSSM.

His reference to ‘we’ in a any comment relating to Celtic doesn’t do any harm either. It’s worth a punt for me. It’s potentiality too risky bringing in a new manager at this stage yet Neil evidently needs support. WGS is an old head and could provide that support to steady the ship.

It’s a good all round solution for me. The first thing that needs done is call out those who don’t want to be here and hunt them. No matter who they are. ‘The best thing about becoming the Celtic manager was that I got to know Tommy Burns as a friend’. WGS just might add that wee bit of stability and grey hair that’s needed at the moment.

3.) 23 Nov 2020 15:46:07
I said 'never-go-back', when NL was appointed as it rarely works out and I would say the same for WGS - although with Lawell, it's always the easier (cheaper) option and it wouldn't surprise me.
These players need a 'new broom' to sweep away cobwebs, clean up a few attitudes and brush-up on fitness, tactics and confidence.

4.) 23 Nov 2020 17:48:58
100% agree Celtic_mad.

22 Nov 2020 13:33:38
Seen on here that dean Henderson got mentioned as a possible loan, personally think it's rubbish and we would have no chance getting him anyway.
Seen however that utd want to sell sergio romero and willing to accept around 2.5m, surely worth a punt considering our current goalkeeping options.
Probably no chance he would want to come up here but think it would be definelty worth looking at.

MarkM88

1.) 24 Nov 2020 12:09:48
are you wanting him signed because he plays for man u. he has played 7 league games for them in 5 year.

17 Oct 2020 14:34:24
Absolutely pathetic and embarrassing performance, totally ashamed. Before anyone jumps on the bandwagon with the "it's early days the league isn't won in October" this is a whole lot bigger.

To me, Lennon has got to walk. His man management is dreadful and it seems he's lost the dressing room, he's been back 18 months, 3 teams have embarrassed us at home in Europe due to his tactics and i can't recall a celtic v rangers game we have had control of since his return. Freak results can happen, but when it's 3 times with the likes of cluj, copenhagen, then ferencvaros, enough is enough.

Lazio were far better than us both games and we got very lucky with 2 injury time winners, they weren't great performances by us and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take the specs off.
As for the rangers games, his first one when Forrest got the winner was a mistake by rangers and they played us off the park with 10 men.
Even the 2-0 game at ibrox we were poor and there was absolutely no urgency to the performances and the cup final last season somes it up.

Getting rid of him into this season might be a mistake as it will unsettle the squad but kiss goodbye to 10 in a row as long as he's in charge, the best we can hope for is rangers make there own mistakes because we aren't going to win the league based on our own performances.

Lennon out!

MarkM88

1.) 17 Oct 2020 15:27:50
interesting, ps I agree on lazio points. played off park twice

That is WHY we should focus on quality of performances, and in that regard or respect, he should go.

18 Aug 2020 14:23:38
Celtics potential champions league opponents in the 3rd and qualifying rounds should we make it past the first 2. One game at a time and without getting ahead of ourselves, incase anyone is interested.

Providing the favourites from each game played make it through this is the strongest opposition we could currently face.

3rd qualifying round, (Young boys, Red star belgrade, Qarabag, Legia warsaw, maccabi tel aviv, molde)

Play off round, (Dinamo zagreb, astana, slavia prague, ludogorets razgrad)

MarkM88

1.) 18 Aug 2020 14:33:46
Some tricky away ties mark in the 3rd qualifying round especially as I think they are just over 1 match 😓 fingers crossed for a home tie 👍.

2.) 18 Aug 2020 15:00:38
This time last year I didn’t think Celtic were ready to play Slavia Prague in the Playoffs. That proved to be correct because we couldn’t get passed Cluj.
But this time last season 3 out of our back 4 were new signings.
Now I feel we have a more settled team and if we get to play in the latter qualifying rounds Celtic will be ready because we will have a few more games under our belts.
A few of the other leagues have not started up yet and are still at their pre-season stage and that could also go in our favour.

3.) 18 Aug 2020 16:40:05
I can't see us getting past most of them going on our record in Europe. In all honesty I'm not that fussed. Also bored having the same teams in the qualifiers every season. Europe just doesn't do it for me anymore.

4.) 18 Aug 2020 16:43:29
Our players have not had a chance to get any momentum going yet, but tonight gives us a chance to get back to winning ways and hopefully play like they did in the last home game (especially second half) .
I'm sure they are raring to go after Boli-Bawz and JF usually stands out in the early qualifiers; so I hope he scores tonight?

13 Aug 2020 18:50:27
Few post have been made about this but I'm hearing a season loan for Shane Duffy is on the cards and he's been in contact with Lennon.

Supposedly on 35k a week at Brighton which if true I'm surprised at as it's within our range, he could be the last piece of the jigsaw we desperately need at the back.

MarkM88

1.) 13 Aug 2020 19:59:23
We need a left back as well .

For the first time in my life being a celtic fan I've genuinely lost all faith in the current management and first team. I've always had a bit of hope when we've been poor in previous seasons but this season is different, there's something definetely going on and the longer neil lennon stays the worse it is going to get. I know it's pure negativity and as a fan people will say to get a grip and get behind your club but the bottom line is this set up this season has gave me zero confidence in them.

I understood Lennon getting the job last May after the cup final and I was one for supporting it, it made sense to go with somebody whose experienced celtic and knew the set up and what it meant compared to going with someone knew where it might be too much of a gamble. It's massively backfired though when you look at the net result as a whole.

As much as I'm grateful for the historic nights against lazio we were very lucky and needed 2 last minute goals and weren't the better team in both games, as for playing against rangers, I think that's 7 games Lennons managed since he came back and nobody can say there's been a convincing performance in any of them compared to when brendan was here.

The past 3 games against them rangers have absolutely dominated us and even when you look at the games we won, the 2-0 at ibrox last season we sat in and didn't play that well, the 2-1 game at parkhead they were the better team with 10 men and we got a winner through a mistake from tavernier to allow Forrest to score, the cup final was a disgraceful performance and only had forster to thank for not allowing it to be a drubbing.

As a fan I look at the overall picture and the net result, I don't just look at it from the last 10 games which Lennon seems to do purely just to cover his backside, he hasn't installed a winning mentality in this squad and let's face it, we only won the league last season due to it being cut short and with rangers making mistakes, not because we were ruthless over the course of the season. We've been turned over now by cluj, copenhagen, ferencvaros, and sparta prague, all at parkhead.
We're nothing more than a mediocre team now and it's all down to Lennon, he's clearly lost the dressing room and there isn't another answer.

I don't know who we should go for if we were to replace him, people think Eddie howe, I don't think his style of football has been that exciting to be honest and usually sets his team up to be more defensive, which is exactly the opposite to what we need right now.

I know this seems to be a bit of a rant but I just hope other fans can see some comparisons in the points I've made, I still hope they turn it around but based on the overall performance, if it continues the way it has been we need to accept that 10 in a row is out the window.

Bain hasn't made any real catastrophic blunders as far as I can remember but there's been plenty of games where he's been very shaky and let in goals he should have saved. I don't think he's a bad keeper but he's just not a number 1 class for celtic and doesn't do enough to convince, if he bossed his area, came and collected and attacked crosses and made cracking saves then it would be different but he doesn't do any of that, he's a backup keeper for us at best.

Philtim88, I'm pretty sure if forster wanted to come back then he would be here regardless if it was a permanent deal or loan to buy.
There's been absolutely no hard evidence that says forster wanted a permanent deal to come back to us, he only said he was open to returning when he was here with us last season. He knew he wouldn't be no.1 at Southampton so why not accept another season on loan if it gives him game time and a possibility to be included in the England squad for the euros? Doesn't make sense to me.

As for Gordon yeah he was offered to stay, but on ridiculously low wages and nowhere near what he's worth, even he said it himself. Celtic transfer model might be buy young, develop and sell big and it's a good strategy as it has worked in the past, but I just think they made a mistake not offering gordon another year on decent wages considering how important this season is, the last thing that needed to happen was us mucking around with goalkeepers and unsettling the back line, that's exactly what has happened but.

Total paper talk and sounds like there's no truth in it at all, as for forster as much as I think he's a good keeper I wouldn't go near him now since he had the option to come back and didn't want to.

Said before on this site that going for a European keeper with no knowledge or experience of British football was a massive risk considering how important this season is and that's how it's turned out with barkas, he might come good eventually but the fact he's out the team now shows it was a poor recruitment decision.

The worst thing celtic did during the summer was letting craig gordon go, when forsters loan expired we should have immediately got gordon tied down for another year as protection and just paid him what He's worth instead of penny pinching, a safe pair of hands with experience and someone who's played a big part in this run to 9 in a row wouldn't have went a miss, absolutely baffled he wasn't tied up. Without sounding too negative, anyone who thinks Bain is a better keeper than gordon needs a reality check.

I just wish Lennon would resign or get sacked, I've never felt like this or said things like this before towards a celtic team but I honestly hope motherwell beat celtic tomorrow so the board don't have a choice but to get rid of him, he's stealing a wage and an absolute disgrace to the club.
