Latest speculation today has us linked with shon weissman who plays for wolfsberger in the austrian top division, 29 goals this season including a few in the Europa league and apparently he's an option only if edouard leaves.

He has a year left on his contract so could be a shrewd purchase but can't see it considering we have 4 strikers at the moment unless edouard does indeed leave.

He scored the opening goal tonight.
His goal was described as a stunning bicycle kick.

2.) 03 Jun 2020 19:47:19
Should bring him in either way with his record. Bin bayo and he takes his place in the squad.

Buzz Bomb :
If it’s the one I saw : player in a red Strip - it’s a stunning shot and hit with some power.

Most likely paper talk and just the usual rumour crap but the word is southampton interested in ntcham and would be willing to use forster in the deal.
Cracking player with bags of talent but just can't help but feel sooner or later his head will be away from us and won't be interested anymore.
If it is true it would be a cracking deal, forster is absolutely crucial to our defence and it would be much harder to replace him than ntcham, thoughts?

MarkM88

1.) 26 May 2020 20:20:44
I think we have already told him that he would be allowed to leave if a suitable offer came in for him this summer transfer window after Lennon had his chat with him earlier in the season he actually started playing after that like he was trying to put himself in the shop window.

2.) 27 May 2020 07:25:48
I think forsters saves and presence is far more critical to our team than ntchams contributions if I'm honest, he has got talent but is he integral to the team the way forster is? If this is concrete and they do come in it could backfire on us if we stop ntcham leaving, he would potentially down tools and unsettle the team which is why Lennon would push for the deal to happen, he's hellbent on getting forster back if wages can be agreed.
Forster has easily got at least another good 5 years in him at a high level, he should be our number one priority.

3.) 02 Jun 2020 21:15:23
When ntcham is on form he's our best midfielder in my opinion, I think we should try and get him on top form rather than getting a smaller fee than we could get, sayin that I don't know how long he's got left on his contract.

Apparently genk have signed kouassi for 1.3m, forgot he was actually a celtic player.

MarkM88

1.) 25 May 2020 18:59:19
Pity I thought he could have been decent. Hard as nails to try and run off a cruciate injury 😂 done well to get over a million for him considering he hardly played.

{Ed007's Note - If Genk are asking/getting 4 million Euros for Hagi we've been robbed here and should have got more for Kouassi.}

2.) 25 May 2020 19:43:31
I have always said I think there is a player there. When we played the Russians he was fantastic and then tried to play on with a serious injury. Bhoy just had no luck at parkhead but I wouldn't be surprised to see him make something of his career.

3.) 25 May 2020 21:25:31
I honestly think if it's true and we got 1.3m it's a cracking deal even though we're making a loss, in the end he was just in the flop bracket scouted by congerton and BR along with compper and hendry to name a few.
He literally had one half decent game at home against zenit but couldn't string a pass any other time he did manage to play which wasn't very often so there's obviously a reason for that, hopefully whenever next season does start this soro guy we signed in January doesn't go down the same path.

4.) 25 May 2020 21:30:59
Hagi is a luxury player who will struggle week on week in our league.

5.) 25 May 2020 22:02:11
to get 1.3million for a guy who's played about 20 games over about 3 year is a good deal on our part if you ask me n he showed nothing in those games to suggest he was going to play a part.

6.) 26 May 2020 00:15:29
He had something about him he just didn't get the run of games and struggled with injuries. Malaria and ACL is just bad luck. Sure he wasn't even getting a game in the reserves either so he was just around doing training so couldn't get anything kick started.

7.) 26 May 2020 08:34:48
Hopefully we haven't paid the full reported 3m and that's not too much of a loss. Was quite excited about him but between Brown and McGregor he was always going to struggle to cement a place. Hopefully Soro doesn't turn out to be the same. We need to seriously start to think about Brown's replacement.

22 May 2020 12:54:50
So hearing the latest rumours circling around are that a few teams are apparently interested in Ajer, particularly leicester and everton.
Seems leicester will always be linked to most of our players and personally think it's just paper talk but I've got mixed feelings on this one if they are solid.
Cracking player on his day and got potential to improve on his timing and positioning but can also be a bomb scare at times and recklessly dives in.

MarkM88

1.) 22 May 2020 13:58:05
25 million and they can have him take the money and spend 8 on a replacement and tieing Edouard down for one more season.

2.) 22 May 2020 16:53:31
Can't see anyone paying that kind of money for him in the current climate. Regardless of whether he stays or goes we need another CB in to challenge.

3.) 22 May 2020 19:26:56
25 million is a no brainer sell. Not like for like with football finances moving on. Compare to what we got for Virgil.

4.) 23 May 2020 00:02:17
When you consider we got big Jullien for 7m I'd take 25m for Ajer in a heartbeat, for his size he is crap in the air ( I like the CB to be more dominant ) don't get me wrong he is a good player and has some really good attributes but for that kind of money he has to go for me.

5.) 23 May 2020 10:58:22
Could get in a good replacement, New GK, New LW, Cover for other areas and still have plenty of change. His performances have took a dip under Lennon and maybe he feels the same as KT did and feels now is the time to push for a move to a big club before the decent offers dry up and his progression stalls.

That's Jonny Hayes off now that his contracts up, sometimes you need players in the squad who aren't the best technically but can do the dirty work and put a shift in when it matters, all the best to him he was supposedly a big influence in the dressing room according to broony and calmac.
Hopefully bolingoli will get his finger out now after being here a year and seeing what it takes every game to stay solid and consistent, definetely think the lad has the talent and just needs some coaching on the defensive side and a confidence boost.

On other news it's looking increasingly more likely that ajer will be off this summer if an offer is made, 18m being the latest number from Leicester but total paper talk imo.

One guy I would love for us to go for if ajer is left is abou cisse of olympiakos, absolute beast at 6ft 6in and an out and out defender, him and jullien would be some partnership.
Arsenal were supposedly after him last summer for 10m but seems to be just a rumour, none the less would love us to push the boat out for him like we did with jullien if ajer does go.

MarkM88

1.) 30 May 2020 05:52:22
I liked Johnny Hayes👍.

2.) 30 May 2020 08:14:57
Hayes had the heart of a lion but unfortunately always looked like an Aberdeen player in a Celtic shirt. As for Bolingoli I think we need to write that off as bad business. Don't think he'll ever come good.

3.) 30 May 2020 09:36:14
Hayes came in from the cold a few times and done a good job.
He seemed to raise his game in the big matches.
Lenny liked to play him in hard away matches including Europe.
He will be 33 in July and will be looking for one last contract lasting a couple of years.
A one year extension would not have been any good to Johnny.
It is hard for a forward player to keep that momentum up when they are in their 30s
So the fact that Johnny could help the club out at left back was a bonus for both parties.
I wish Johnny all the best for the future.

4.) 30 May 2020 09:36:25
Wasn't the biggest fan of him playing LB but forgot he had a dislocated shoulder and was strapped up and put the shift in he did against Sevco. Wasn't always the best player but gave his all and always seemed to be the player kicked all over the park. Commendable attitude. With him and Moi off and likely Hickey coming in we definitely need a new LW as Mickey can't be trusted to be first choice with his injuries.

05 Mar 2020 13:17:33
I might be a bit overly harsh here but please tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't really see much in elyounoussi?

Granted he was injured for a bit but I can honestly only recall 2 games he's made much of an impact, the 2-0 game at home to cluj and against hibs at Hampden, I understand Lennon starting him last night to try and give the lad a bit of game time and confidence but he just reminds me of stuart Armstrong, decent quality but lazy and picks and chooses when to turn up, we got a good 7 months out Armstrong over 3 and a half years and that was the 2016/ 17 season.

I think Lennon needs to stick with the 3-5-2 as edouard thrives off having someone to play next to and he can link up the play far better with, we're a different animal with this system compared to the predictable 4-2-3-1. I hope to the heavens he plays him and griff at ibrox next weekend!

MarkM88

1.) 05 Mar 2020 13:26:49
He was very impressive for a few games before the injury, but has really struggled for form and has lost the confidence he had before.
I remember before the winter break there several posts suggesting we go for him permanently to replace Sinclair. Christie is still getting back to his best after his injury and Elyounnoussi was out longer than him so he may come good again? At the end of the day, he will probably be going back to Southampton at the end of the season, but if he help us to retain our trophies in the meantime, all the better?

2.) 05 Mar 2020 13:34:31
Agreed. He looked good at the start of the season- arguably our best player. Hasn't looked the same since his injury. Might just need more game time though.

3.) 05 Mar 2020 17:41:06
Previous to injury he had 6 goals and 7 assists from 13 games, pretty good by anyone's standards.

28 Feb 2020 15:23:13
Absolutely baffled and bitterly dissapointed at last nights performance as we all are, every team can have an off night but the way it panned out last night something just didn't add up.

I just don't understand why lenny needs to keep tinkering about and breaking things up that aren't broken it's so frustrating, the 3-5-2 has worked so well since the turn of the year so why did he need to switch it and play elyounoussi who has hardly kicked a ball for months over an in form Griffiths?
There's something very worrying about celtic not playing 2 strikers at home against a team like copenhagen there really is.

As for the defence, ajer and jullien have been the main parternship for most of the campaign so why shunt ajer out of position to right back in the first place? These sort of decisions from lenny are really mind blowing they really are and as for brown i totally admire him giving it his all to push and start the game but even he must have known in his head he wasn't fit for it last night and did more harm than good.

That game was there for the taking last night and now it's over, I don't want to sound like a dead beat and I'll follow my team to the end but there's just no more excitement now for the rest of this season, we've done a treble treble and will hopefully win the league so I honestly don't care if we go out the cup, I just wish we had the balls to stand up and be counted on the European stage.

MarkM88

1.) 28 Feb 2020 15:50:55
Agreed. Just so frustrating watching the same mistakes every single year. We should have taken our chances and played our fit players (ie not brown or elyounoussi) but no one to blame but ourselves.

2.) 28 Feb 2020 16:24:34
It's been posted before and I know there were a good few individual errors - but why does NL tamper with a successful line-up in these important games. OK Ntcham and Christie were unavailable, but Eddy needed his strike partner and the backline didn't need tinkering?
Said last night that we hadn't gone further than Feb in Europe since 2003/ 04, but we had a great chance last night against a team with no more talent or class than we had - but once again we threw it away.

3.) 28 Feb 2020 16:49:21
I understand the formation because it's what worked so well for us in the groups but it just wasn't good enough on the night. As I said before, I felt we were very comfortable until Jozo sold the jerseys and then after that the crowd and the team got so anxious.

4.) 28 Feb 2020 23:26:06
Why not play, or what's wrong with playing 4-4-2? Keep Ajer and Julien together and Eddy and Griff together and build the rest of the team around them. It would be an easy enough formation to either start with 3-5-2 or revert to it when the team's attacking. Bauer would be a better right back than breaking up a defensive partnership that isn't broken.

Agree Jim I just think it's harder to convince players to come to us who regularly play in decent leagues but every now and again we do manage pull off a signing as was with jullien from ligue 1, hopefully we do push the boat out and go for the lad from what I've heard he's supposed to be quick and skilful and likes to cut in from the left which is an area I think we can all agree needs strenghtening, I like elyounoussi and thought he did ok but I just don't think he's worth splashing out the money they're after for him when it could possibly go to other players who would cost less with higher potential.

He supposedly wasn't interested in a move to scotland in January so can't see it happening, it'll take a helluva lot for us to sign first team players from leagues that are far better than the scottish premiership.

Agree with bigbubs, I think signing forster is absolutely paramount this summer he's nothing short of sensational and if we're going to make any sort of impact in Europe he's got to be between the sticks, just look at his performances this season especially against lazio.
I'd like to see us get him for another year on loan and then signing him next summer for a lower fee when he has a year left on his deal with southampton, wages will be the only stumbling block but the way he speaks I reckon he would be willing to take a hit providing he was the top earner, he's easily got at least another good 5 years in him.

I think bolingoli deserves another chance, I think he just needs a bit of guidance and confidence and a bit of work on the defensive side and he could come onto a real game for us, it doesn't click straight away with every signing but it would be harsh to punt him without giving him another chance to prove himself.

I like bitton but he's definelty not the centre half we need he's more of a backup and a good utility man for centre half and defensive mid, with simunovic away I suspect we'll be in the market for a new centre half, would just love us to have an out and out defender to clear the lines who wouldn't break the bank, jullien can't do it by himself and needs somebody with better defensive skills next to him than ajer.

I honestly think this talk of ajer leaving is nothing more than paper talk at best, has he publicly said anything or been quoted to suggest otherwise?
Even if it's true and he does go I don't believe he'll be that much of a miss, he's still a young lad with lots to learn but he's played first team for a few years now so there's no excuses, he's great on his day but far too inconsistent and his positioning is all over the place most of the time, I wouldn't even say he's a centre half he's more of a deep lying defensive midfielder.
With simunovic off I don't expect him to leave unless a real concrete offer does come in but him leaving would be a massive rebuilding job at the back and the way the market is just now i just can't see it.

Get big Mjallby back in, although I doubt so he would settle just as a coach after he was assistant manager with us. Him and Stevie woods would sort our defence out immensely.
Think it needs to be someone who's celtic orientated or knows at least what it's going to take, keep McManus and O'dea with the development team for a bit more experience then when lenny leaves brown will become manager with McManus and O'dea with him, youse heard it here first! 😅.
