Just read a story that Partizan Belgrade may look to take Soro on loan.

Hi Ed,
do you know if there's anything in the story's doing the rounds of our interest in the midfielder, Semedo?

I've also read that Aberdeen have placed a £3M valuation on Lewis Ferguson in light of Milwalls bid ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

{Ed007's Note - Reports in Portugal say that Celtic want Alfa Semedo on an initial loan with an option to buy for €1.5 and we have scouted the player.
My fingers, throat and brain are all hurting over talking about Ferguson ?

1.) 20 Jun 2022 17:21:42
Thanks Ed, that's interesting.

I've got a colleague who's been a season ticket holder at Reading for year's and I messaged him earlier regardingthis player.

He reckons Semedo is still young enough to improve and believes he'd be a good squad player.

We'll see what happens.

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - ?

17 Jun 2022 17:37:46
Celtic have confirmed Joe Hart will wear the No.1 on his Jersey next season - fantastic!

I'm not a fan of the 'basketballesque' numbers displayed on the shirts of players these days so I'm glad Joe will display the number that confirms his position.

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

1.) 17 Jun 2022 20:49:12
What was he last year and who was No1. Must admit I don't really pay attention to numbers.

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure it was 15.}

2.) 17 Jun 2022 22:18:58
Barkas was number 1 last season and he’s went to Holland on loan.
The last game Celtic played in numbers 1 to 11 was against St. Johnstone in May 1998 when we stopped the 10.

3.) 17 Jun 2022 23:40:27
Nice one BuzzBomb ?

I'd love us to go back to the 1 to 11, it might even start a trend ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

4.) 18 Jun 2022 01:27:47
Buzz what year did we stop having the no only on our shorts was it 92 or round about then.

5.) 18 Jun 2022 08:16:33
We were made to wear them by uefa in the mid 70’s for European games.

12 Jun 2022 11:22:31
Hi Ed, how are you doing?

Reports today suggesting we've tabled an initial bid for the Argentinian kid, Alexandro Bernabei, that's been rejected.

Have you heard anything on this one and do you think Ange views this lad as back up to Taylor or is that starting spot up for grabs?

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

{Ed007's Note - i/'m good, Pedro ?I don't know for certain of any official bid for Bernabei apart from what's been reported but Celtic have spoken to the player's representatives - a work permit could be a problem. Remember Mohanad Jeahze was reported to be signing "in the next few days" the other week by all the places saying the same about Bernabei.
Imo Greg Taylor has earned the right to be our first choice LB next season and it'll be up to Bernabei or A.N. Other to displace him.}

1.) 12 Jun 2022 13:10:38
Some reports saying the bid was rejected, not sure how accurate right enough.

2.) 12 Jun 2022 13:24:57
Glad to hear you're well Ed, good man ?.

That's a good point on the work permit and although I'm not upto speed with the qualifying criteria, I'm pretty sure this lad has only been capped at under 19's?

Although not my favourite player (wait for it. ) I agree that Taylor should have first dibs on the LB jersey.

Early days but as ever, we watch with interest.

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not 100% up on the new regs either but I think it's easier now to get work permits for players from South America than it was pre-Brexit.}

3.) 12 Jun 2022 14:38:37
Taylor is a average spl LB. If that's our ambition it's scary. All opinions I suppose.

4.) 12 Jun 2022 15:52:38
Taylor did well, but we still need competition and we need a better LB if we want to be better in Europe. He starts with the jersey and it’s up to him to keep it. I think his final ball is always an issue. He gets us loads of corners by failing to get the ball past the first man, but we are hopeless at them. I use us getting a corner to get a beer and haven’t missed more than 3 goals in years. I think I read we went nearly 120 corners without a goal. With Scales going on loan we definitely need cover and by cover I mean better.

{Ed007's Note - I think that Taylor's attacking play greatly improved to an almost Ralstonesque level, especially in the second half of the season.
It wasn't just Taylor's fault we were beaten by Bodo/Glimt.}

5.) 13 Jun 2022 09:18:38
I agree, we were poor all over the park. They were a good outfit but we didn’t turn up. Taylor did improve and I hope he continues on that road, we still need strong competition which should improve him further.

6.) 13 Jun 2022 12:31:39
Ideally, we'd have the equivalent of JJ at LB with Taylor available as back up.

Agree that Taylor came onto a game in the 2nd half of the season under Ange but he still has a way to go IMO.

Scales looks a cert to go out on loan therefore cover at LB would seem to have been identified as a priority.

We'll wait and see.

☘️ ? ☘️.

7.) 13 Jun 2022 12:46:36
Taylor done well last season but you could see he was blowing out his arse towards the end of games as he had no competition or rest. Another LB would not so much be to replace Taylor but help with the workload of a busy season ahead.

8.) 13 Jun 2022 12:57:22
Taylor contributed roughly a Goal or Assist every 6 games last season. Ralston was closer to every 3 games. Taylor has improved a lot and flown under the radar while Ralston has received a lot of plaudits. In my opinion we need better than both to step up in Europe and should have that by the end of the window.

9.) 14 Jun 2022 19:17:30
I know Taylor improved as the season progressed but I think league is his level. I think he will struggle badly in Champions league and we need a LB at that level as a priority signing.

{Ed007's Note - There'll be more than Taylor will struggle badly at CL level.}

25 May 2022 16:07:37
Ed,

I don't suppose you've heard of any names mentioned for any of the positions Ange is looking at?

I'd hope we can sign a left sided CB, the holy grail of centre half's.

As this summer transfer window progresses it would seem there is a pattern emerging.

Under Ange, with support from the board, we quietly and confidently are moving players out of the club as well as recruiting players for the positions that were identified some time ago to strengthen an already successful team of champions ?.

Across the city, a little over a year ago they thought they'd turned a corner, we were in disarray under NL, players who had downed tools and we signed Ange at the tail end of the Summer looking like we'd missed the boat to recruit and mount a challenge.

Meanwhile they were already counting the cash they'd get from the automatic qualification to the CL Group stages, maybe pay off some 'soft' loans and strengthen their squad - what a difference 12 months makes ?.

Sevco have secured only the 2nd trophy in their short history, finishing runner up in the league could well cost them a fortune and it would seem that having offered their OAP's new contracts suggests that GVB must sell before he can buy.

Add to this, their top goalscorer is entering the final year of his contract and we've just signed (as our back up) the GK they had earmarked as their No.1.

The future's bright, the future's Green and White.

1.) 22 Jun 2022 14:17:14
A good and accurate post Pedro ?.

2.) 22 Jun 2022 18:17:06
There in denial over there that they wanted sign big Siegrist
They where desterate for him.
Its all over the papers a while back and in there forums a while back.
Now they are saying the opposite. ??.
Maybe one for you lads out there
Does anyone know which spfl goalkeeper let in least goals last season as if it's Hart then they are talking garbage again as the best goalie is the one who let's in least goals.
Any stats guys.

3.) 23 Jun 2022 11:43:13
Off the top of my head, did we not have best defence in the league ie conceding least? With this in mind surely Hart was part if this so making him concede the least. Have to say i haven't been so buzzing for season to start in a long time. This is really year one for Big Ange last year was a trial run work in progress due to missing the start and rebuilding along the way. With a pre season under Ange with all the pieces in place. With the unit already versed in knowing we never stop. lookout and bring on the sevvues. we are going to smash this season.

I know what they say about hindsight being 20/ 20 but I can't help but thinking that we missed a trick not signing Aaron Hickey. ?

Arsenal apparently ready to put 20M+ on the table and he's starting for Scotland tonight.

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

1.) 01 Jun 2022 22:09:56
Pedro I must admit when we lost out on Hickey I was glad as I had seen him play for hearts a few times and just didn’t rate him.

Then when I seen him being touted for a £25m move to Arsenal or another pub league team I thought. How wrong was I.

But I manage to watch him for Scotland tonight and if he’s a £25m full back Juranovic is £100m and Ralston a cool £50m. I just can’t see it with this boy. He’s a decent player but not Celtic or Pub league quality imo.

I think a lot of average players can look like superstars in Italy as it’s a much slower game. But what do I know he might be the next Roberto Carlos.

2.) 02 Jun 2022 08:14:10
Thought he had a stinker last nite (highlights) HH.

3.) 02 Jun 2022 09:40:44
Robertson was awful all game, and that's the worst I've seen mcginn.

4.) 02 Jun 2022 11:22:07
Tbhoy - and if McGinn is being touted for a £50m move then what price Calmac?

It just goes to show that the EPL have more money than Croesus and less sense than students cat calling an ex heavyweight boxer. If Hickey had signed for Celtic instead there is no way Arsenal would be offering £25m - but, as you say, he looks a player in the comparatively pedestrian Serie A. He'd need a few great seasons, like Tierney, to get to that level. Mind you Everton got mugged for £11m for a boy that hardly kicked a ball for Rangers and has dropped so far down the pecking order that the Everton fans have put his face on Merseyside milk cartens.

Yeah - he could turn out to be the next Roberto Carlos right enough, but only in so much as if he was taught Jongo at night school - certainly nothing to do with football but! I know you were only joking Tbhoy but that would be as likely as the head of the NI Orange Order getting an MBE for services to the community - - - oh - - - wait! What a sick joke that is - what's next? Perhapse Mario Daniel Arru can get The Order of the Bath (pun intended) for services to sight seeing tours of the South Atlantic?

Also - has Clarke started to buy into his own greatness? I noticed that he covered up his abject failure last night by smothering it with the blanket of his Euro qualification - pathetic really. I suspect his team selections are now suffering from the "English Malaise" that held them back for countless tournaments. Players got picked by reputation, teams played for and loyalty. Actual CURRENT form meant nothing and that's what England achieved for decades - nothing. Hickey over Ralston against a physical team? Do me a favour Clarke. Also, Clarke - tactics isnae how a guy wi a cleft palet pronounces wee white mints in a plastc box mate. Ye dinnae have tae have gone tae Sandhurst to see how you should have set up your defense and mid field against them - ya puddin'.

Scotland did what Scotland do best. "Wha's like us? " "Damn few an' they're a' gonnae watch the WC fae hame tae".

#guttedbutnotsurprised.

PS perhapse Robertson might want to take a pint on the bus to celebrate this defeat as well. Harrrumph.

5.) 02 Jun 2022 19:29:12
Tbhoy, I hear what you're saying although last night he played out of position at RB and I don't think anybody stood out for Scotland.

Saying that, Hickey has played 36 games in Serie A last season, which for me, says he must be decent ?.

As I say, it's probably hindsight on my part but if he was already playing in the Hoops under Ange, I doubt we'd be looking for a LB this summer.

Watched the CL Final last night and must say messrs Ferdinand, Gerrard and Owen never gave Real Madrid a chance in their pre game 'analysis'.

After the final whistle offcourse, their pre match comments that effectively wrote off a team who had previously dispatched;- PSG, Man City and Chelsea, made them look like the blinkered, bias fools they are or to sum it up in one word - English.

I've been asked from time to time over the years by English friends/ colleagues, after telling them I was a Celtic supporter; 'who's your English team', my answer then, now and always will be the same - my team is Celtic.

Congratulations to Real Madrid ?

1.) 29 May 2022 09:58:14
well said pedro celtic now and celtic always bro. oh and aberdeen were the last side to beat real madrid in a European final.

2.) 29 May 2022 11:24:14
those commentators where an embarrassment you could see and feel second half Madrid had them worked out.
yes Madrid goal keeper MOTM.
LIVERPOOL should have had this game done in the first half but just not good enough to finish it.
commentators changed there tune when that goal went in as how great real where still funny.
its these commentators that spoil it take a hint sky and change this.
the teams real knocked out every English team on the road.

i could not be happier those players over rated over paid.
if celtic could get in there and get there money we would do amazing.
i know it will never happen as they know what would be the end results
start us at the bottom league and work our way up.

3.) 29 May 2022 14:00:10
We have witnessed this kind of bias for decades, since the 'Mickey Mouse' league taunts when we won't the original 9-in-a-row (including the BIG cup) - to the tediously monotonous 'Best League in the world' with their International Billionare funding and imported overpaid players. The patronizing, ignorance and disrespect shown was well rewarded with a post-match dinner of eggy face and humble-pie. Ancelloti has proved himself time and time again and their results in previous rounds, showed they weren't there to make up the numbers.

4.) 29 May 2022 14:04:26
Likewise Pedro, I'm a one club fan and I watch any game not involving us as a neutral. HH.

5.) 29 May 2022 14:19:08
Can't understand someone who supports 2 teams. I'm emotionally and Financially done in with 1. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I support Celtic but I also follow Spurs. Have done since I was a lad. That being said the passion and frustration you get supporting your team I only get for Celtic. Doesn't stop me supporting Spurs - just doesn't mean as much to me. Followed Clydebank as well when I was younger but unlike the Sevies I knew what liquidation meant so don't follow any more.
