According to Sly Sports deals for the Villa GK, Sinisalo, and Bernardo have been completed ?

Apparently we've made contact with the representatives of 23yr old, Antwerp winger, Michel-Ange Balikwisha and have held initial talks on signing the player.

1.) 15 Jul 2024 12:25:53
Keeper from Aston villa also. winger quoted 5m. maybe that's us started ?.

2.) 15 Jul 2024 17:31:03
A few of us were saying it would all kickoff when the Euro's finished.
It looks like that's how it's playing out.

3.) 15 Jul 2024 20:51:34
Couple of French team's after that Belgium winger ?.

4.) 15 Jul 2024 20:59:17
Sinisola could be a great bit of business. I hope it happens. Antwerp want a strong price but if this is us getting going then I like these stories.

5.) 16 Jul 2024 00:01:50
Surely somebody in the ranks that'd sweeten a deal.

6.) 16 Jul 2024 07:47:35
We've got about 20 odd to pick from ? ? ?

☘️ ☘️ ☘️.

7.) 16 Jul 2024 12:01:23
Quality over quantity though pedro, it has to be. ? for me we’ve realistically got 3 wingers who are worth relying on, maeda, forrest and kuhn, who the jury’s still out on since he only came in January. I’ve seen enough of palma, yang and mikey Johnston to say they’ve failed to impress enough and won’t take us further.

8.) 17 Jul 2024 07:53:34
Palma is better than maeda. Although I'd rather try palma through the middle.

12 Jul 2024 21:42:47
I read that the new manager at Starmans club has said the Swede doesn't fit into his system and will struggle for playing time next season.

Would he come back to Celtic?

Would BR be interested in him?

Answers on a post card.

1.) 12 Jul 2024 22:22:54
Starfelt was decent but left and we simply need to bring in much better.

2.) 12 Jul 2024 22:47:34
We need better than CS. Another CB as good or better than CCV. CS didn’t have the composure to lead from the back when CCV was out. We need someone more assured.

3.) 13 Jul 2024 00:01:19
It’s being reported as a 12 month contract. Hopefully we will be signing a young talented keeper also. If not this approach is just short term thinking and falling asleep at the wheel again.

4.) 13 Jul 2024 08:07:30
Starfelt had a great partnership with CV however it's not the answer at all, he was lucky on many occasions to get away with some awkward controls of the ball, we've patted him on the back, cheers but not again.

5.) 13 Jul 2024 10:34:06
As Ed previously said, if we get a CB, he needs to be at a level to challenge CV or better, pointless getting more CB's of the level of Scales as we have a number of them already.

6.) 13 Jul 2024 12:23:23
I would be delighted to have starfelt back at the club. Thought he was a cracking player who got a lot of undeserved stick.

7.) 13 Jul 2024 01:52:59
I wouldn’t take starfelt back if I’m honest, although he had a good understand with carter vickers and they had a good record there just seemed to be prone to errors too much. His head wasn’t in it towards the end of his last season and I think there’s better defenders out there we could go for, it’s just trying to find them.

8.) 13 Jul 2024 19:37:54
If we don’t want to actually improve we bring back Starfelt. For me, I want us to get better, so he’s not, or shouldn’t be in the frame, unless we got rid of Welsh, he’s better than Welsh as backup. We need to buy much better.

I would also be looking to recruit the best young Scottish players, to mean we don’t need to keep our players just because they’re Scottish. Our Scottish back up contingent, needs to be improved too. Nowhere hear good enough. Young Miller for one and there has to be better, even in Scotiand, than we have.

Is there any in the academy? If they ain’t better than what we have, they’ve no chance of getting into a team, guys they can’t replace, can’t get anywhere near, unless we are down to the bare bones. We need to improve here, and that means outwith the Academy.

12 Jul 2024 11:10:29
I've read that young Kelly won't be joining the team on the pre season trip to the U. S. A due to him knocking back the latest contract offer.

Pedro71

1.) 12 Jul 2024 11:27:45
For a boy that's achieved hee haw it's baffling how he wants to leave. there's plenty left and vanished. he should spend the next few years I glasgow learning his trade. boys getting some poor advice.

2.) 12 Jul 2024 12:01:52
He will end up earning more but playing in championship or English div 1. Never to be seen again.

3.) 12 Jul 2024 12:18:09
Pedro Mally this time I am with our Board

Apparently both Kelly and Vata were offered first team wages but they want to chase the bigger wages in the EPL
We may be disappointed that two young talents are leaving club but they may have done us a favour in revealing their money grabbing character, ie wanting big wages WITHOUT workng for or earning them.

4.) 12 Jul 2024 13:04:53
What I've seen of vata I think he'd struggle for game time. Kelly is a unit but needs a lot of work.

5.) 12 Jul 2024 13:35:42
It is absolutely mental how our fan base think Celtic is the be all and end all of football. This boy probably sees the crap pathway Celtic have gave him and realises his potential is best served elsewhere.
No wonder they are leaving, don’t blame the player blame the board and the structures they have failed to put in place.

6.) 12 Jul 2024 13:38:34
BR has come out and said both got offered very good contracts and refused them. Clearly their agents are telling them they will get more elsewhere, which BR has suggested they won't but do they have a chance of getting more game time, I am not sure, neither of the 2 looked brilliant prospects to me and even if they had stayed, their game time would have been limited.

They just have to look at previous highly rated young players, such as Morrison who went to Bayern, never got near the first team and now at Watford.

BR has said Vata would have been his 3rd striker this season but that was not enough for him, so good luck to them both but I don't think I will be reading about thm amd wishing we had made more effort to keep them.

7.) 12 Jul 2024 13:42:40
He will join that endless line of Academy “stars” that weren’t anywhere near stars, who have left and never heard of again. If he wants to piss about, let him go. He isn’t good enough either, like all the rest. Typical overhyping of these young guys. None of them could get into the team and that’s before we sign anybody, never mind after.

Not saying we will sign anybody, but if we do.

8.) 12 Jul 2024 15:14:30
100% correct.

9.) 12 Jul 2024 17:09:33
Ken if they're good enough they'll play why wouldn't they. kt and forrest and the like were good enough. who's left and went onto great things. kelly was getting in and around first team and the manager gave him advice he fancies moving on good luck. but you'll need it.

10.) 12 Jul 2024 18:01:07
Do you not think he would have came on leaps n bounds if there was an actual system in place to produce players Mally. Think how good he would’ve been if that was the case!

11.) 12 Jul 2024 19:22:05
Aye, we should have spoon fed them a long a path to first team football. We should have prioritised their promotion above all else .
The one thing that BR is better than most managers is developing young talent . He had full view of both Vata and Kelly from before last Christmas when he brought them in to train with the first team squad . I am sure there are other Celtic youngsters of somewhat similar ability, who would be delighted to get a contract with Celtic and work exceptionally hard to fulfil their ability.

12.) 12 Jul 2024 20:57:42
Exactly des. so brendan watches them day in day out and offers them a contract gives them advice on what they need to do to improve. that's the pathway at every club. the same way KT and forrest and maloney mcnanus odea ralston marshal all cane through. if they're good enough they'll play ?.

19 May 2024 23:21:30
Read an article earlier suggesting we're putting together a bid for Patrick Pentz, the 27yr old Austrian GK currently on loan at Brondby from parent club Bayern Leverkusan.

BR apparently wants him as our No.1 for next season.

1.) 23 May 2024 07:49:15
Brendan will be quoted as saying that about plenty. His biggest hurdle is by wanting higher quality, they types have options.

Hi Ed,

how are you doing?

A quick question on MOR, if I may?

Are you aware if Celtic have communicated the transfer fee we're looking to receive for MOR and of so, what is that number?

It seems very odd to me that Atalanta and now Southampton have had 'bids' in the region of £14M (obviously rejected) for the player when it's been muted we're looking for a club record fee, which I'd presume is north of £25M?

There's also talk that Liverpool ate watching this situation, have you heard anything on that?

TIA, ☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

{Ed007's Note - MOR's agent will know the fee that will bring Celtic to the table, it's just clubs playing silly buggers. I'm still living in hope that he stays ?

1.) 26 Jul 2024 17:39:15
? Ed,

we hold all the cards here and another successful season, including the CL, would be great for the player and the club.

I also think he's far better than the apparent clubs that are interested in him.

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - There's bound to be other clubs who have declared their interest in MOR.}

2.) 26 Jul 2024 19:58:53
Hoping he stays, Is that on a footballing perspective Ed or because he's your man crush? ?.

{Ed007's Note - Absolutely both reasons ?

21 Jul 2024 14:54:24
I was reading that the new Liverpool manager is very keen on signing Frimpong from Leverkusan.

The 40M Euro clause in his contract apparently expires in a matter of days so we may see a transfer happening shortly.

Whatever the transfer amount, the sell on fee should mean a good few quid for Celtic.

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

1.) 21 Jul 2024 16:19:39
I think Celtic would receive about £7M, Pedro ?.

2.) 21 Jul 2024 16:47:49
Maybe go for more that 40m now.

3.) 21 Jul 2024 18:00:22
You could get a right good player for that ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

15 Jul 2024 22:53:20
I've just read the fee that's been agreed for Bernardo is £3.5M, I think that's a good price for the player.

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

1.) 15 Jul 2024 23:20:22
Oh fee gets him, very good signing, but i reckon he'll be O'Riley's replacement, still need a dcm for in there.

2.) 16 Jul 2024 00:29:14
Hopefully get it over the line soon. ?.

3.) 16 Jul 2024 06:57:06
We need 6 midfielders for the season. At the moment we have:

MOR, hatate, Callum, iwata, Bernardo? Holm, Lawal (I think he will go on loan) , McCarthy (I hope he goes on loan or is sold) , Kelly ( think he will be sold) .

Based on that I see Bernardo as a squad player or competition for hatate (I may be wrong) and I would expect a higher calibre signing to replace MOR when he leaves.

4.) 16 Jul 2024 08:55:38
Weejoe you must remember a higher calibre of player looks at our league and thinks not a chance am i playing in that poor league, fans should remember this first of all, quality players want to be playing against other quality players or no improvement is gained for anyone.

5.) 16 Jul 2024 10:10:44
Obviously we won't be going out and buying top players from the top leagues as we can't/ won't match their wages and they wouldn't want to take a step down.

However, that does not mean we can't attract a higher calibre of player, than we currently have.

6.) 16 Jul 2024 13:22:21
Weejoe, I prefer Celtic to buy a player that Brendan sees development and improvement in, when we buy this type of player like when we bought Mo’R,
BR can improve his work rate and knowledge of the role he wants him to play . within the first half season we have a player who has become very important to us . It’s all down ro our recruitment team finding a number of young players for position and manager and coaches picking out the most likely player they can work on and improve. No matter how good a calibre of player we sign, it won’t work out for us unless the player is willing to adopt to and work hard at areas of game BR wants . Some higher calibre player may feel they know it all and have. more than enough skills to star in SPL . This type player will probably not help us much.

7.) 16 Jul 2024 13:42:58
Bernardo has the potential to be a very good player. He is not near orileys class yet and i hope we aren't bringing him in as a like for like.
We need another creative MF and a quality DM as well as bernardo
Bernardos style reminds me of stan petrovs, good hard working box to box midfielder, not afraid to get stuck in and chips in with goal contibutions.
Bernardo has potential to be a top player and isn't portugal u21 captain for nothing.
For the said £4-5m being talked about will be a steal.

8.) 17 Jul 2024 18:48:15
No two players have identical skills and when u sell your best player, u can be certain that we will buy an. inferior player as he is likely to be a young player that BR expects to coach and develop into another fine midfielder who may in time reach the standard of the sold star . Even if he doesn’t reach that level BR will hope that he will have some areas of his game that he might match or surpass the sold star . He could be a better dead ball artist, or a harder worker and hopefully fits into team and adds to it.

15 Jul 2024 22:51:15
I'm reading that the fee for the young Finnish GK from Villa is £1M.

With KS being a free we're looking at getting both the Danish No.1 GK and potentially his longterm replacement for £1M, that's some business ?

Even if Bernardo and Idah were £5M and £6M a piece, that would be £12M for 4 players. bit we've already recouped more than half of that from the sales of OH and Haksabanovic.

A first choice CB, LB, CDM and a winger/ forward would also be very welcome ?.

☘️ ? ☘️.

Pedro71

1.) 16 Jul 2024 06:57:43
That is great business if true and it happens.

2.) 16 Jul 2024 08:58:37
We need a rb as well, one far better than Johnston, if we want to improve as a team, rb gk lcb lb dcm winger cf.

3.) 16 Jul 2024 10:11:20
Abadas fee would bring that £12 million down to about £4 million.

4.) 16 Jul 2024 13:26:41
Big James, are you sure any members of our playing squad are good enough . Do we not need a player for every position, even though AJ had a tough enough season, I still think he did a good job for us and probably with Ralston getting more play time as BR indicated, both players will benefit.

11 Jul 2024 14:58:41
I never watched the game against QP last night as the level of competition, even at this stage of pre season, is dross and the team line up highlighted that.

The sooner we get rid of the Welsh's, MJ's, OH's and Kobayashi's of this world the better.

I want our academy players to succeed and break into the first team as much as anyone but just by being an academy player in itself is not enough.

Reading the comments on here there seems a split over Bosun Lawal, is he good enough for a place on the bench, should he be loaned out, what's the next step for the lad - I don't know, but frankly, when you look at the players we need for the starting 11, BL is nowhere near the top of BR's list of priorities.

What I do know is pre season will start to ramp up when the team goes
across the pond and I hope and trust the right players to fill our GK, LB, CDM, Striker positions, to start with, are completed sooner rather than later.

It tells you all you need to know about our 'scouting' capabilities at Celtic when we can't find a better left back than Greg Taylor.

Assuming we're all in agreement with the manager that a LB is required, have a think, for a moment how ridiculous this scenario is.

I'm not Taylors biggest fan but appreciate his work rate and contribution, particularly under AP but we're not trying to replace Maldini or Carlos here .

Celtic sold Tierney for the thick end of £25M and 'replaced' woth an inferior player and low and behold have spent the past two years or so 'searching' for someone to challenge Taylor.

He does a competent job at domestic level for someone who's 3rd choice for Scotland.

If the club or anyone else even contemplates putting forward an argument that he's 'difficult to replace' their delusional and insulting your intelligence.

Now we've got posts stating he's only got 10 months left on his contract what are we going to do?

Answer, what we should've done two years ago, scouted and signed an upgrade to Taylor, who, along with a few others, should be back up in a good Celtic team.

Reading that Brentford and a few Italian teams are interested in him.

If there's any legs in this story I'm encouraged that we're looking further afield than Dundee for potential signings.

Agree BuzzBomb, Idah was superb when he came in at the end of the January window.

I don't buy into having two experienced strikers and a young player as 3rd choice when playing with only one up front, and that role could have been filled by Vata.

Miovski, like Kyogo and Idah brings a different skillset to the role and knows where the back of the net is.

I'm guessing as BR wants Idah, it appears that all the eggs are in that basket, which is a dangerous game as it will likely go to the wire in this transfer window.

Personally given the number of games/ competitions we've potentially got this coming season I'd look to sign them both as an injury to one leaves us exposed.

Idah and Miovski should cost circa £6M each and will both increase in value - go and get them.
