It's a week until our next game and ten days until the 'window' closes. With NL stating publicly, he will not resign, because it's only a month since he won the treble - do we limp along the remainder of a car-crash season and hope for a cup; or will The Board make his decision for him?
I sympathized with NL in a previous post and I do appreciate all he has achieved and the many years invested in Celtic FC; but I can't remember a manager post-Jock who has had so many poor results in a season (albeit hindered with extraordinary circumstances) and managed to last as long as this.
Buzz touched on this earlier; we are setting all the wrong type of records as far as results and poor runs go and the players are clearly not responding or improving under this 'regime'.
No-one associated with our club that cares a jot can be happy to let this continue much longer?

I agree OAB we was setting all kinds of records under BR and although it was only a matter of time before those standards slipped you still expect the team to keep a decent enough standard given our budget over the rest of the league. We've gone from record breakers to this. Europe was an embarrassment, being knocked out the cup by Ross County was an embarrassment, the title challenge is also embarrassing too. Worst defense in the Europa, 3 wins in 12 which was our worst run for about 60 years, Now 4 games without a win worst in 21 years, the defense can't defend set pieces we've conceded 18 goals in the league with another 16 games to go. The 10 in a row campaign couldn't have panned out worse for us unless Lennon carries on and we continue playing like we are. The funny thing is it's not even surprising most people on here expected this when Lennon took over.

Just read ourselves and Sevco have apparently attempted pre-contract agreements with Doughty of Charlton. Why we didn't just sign him when we had the chance, along with Ivan Toney and other missed opportunities reflects the incompetent and amateurish recruitment under Lawell.
We repeatedly haggle, stall and fail, then end up with duds, fuds and sick-notes. It bursts ma arse.

OAB great descriptions. You should have a merchandise stall outside Parkhead. ‘There’s yir duds, fuds and sick notes’.

I do admire the 'Faithful Through and Through' attitude of some posters and admit, title is still mathematically possible - even if unlikely after Saturday.
It's also common sense that the run of utter dominance, trophies and record breaking successes would come to an end one day.
However, what I find hard to accept is the total collapse, almost from day-one up to last weekend in all competitions.
I know there were unprecedented and extreme circumstance at the start of last year; but to have such a humiliating show in Europe, get dumped out of the LC at home by Ross County and fall 19 points behind Sevco is astonishing and frankly unacceptable with the resources, facilities and financial advantage we have over all others in a very poor SPL.

The Board seem happy enough with this abject failure, to reward the manager and players with a 5 star holiday; not only after yet another disappointing result, but during a C.V. where myself and millions of others have been unable to properly meet or be with children, grandchildren and other important family members.
The club - synonymous with the support from it's conception are in danger of alienating the most important people in the Celtic family, by poor judgement, conceit and repeated mistakes with an out of sight out of mind attitude.
Worse case scenario, we could go from quadruple-treble champions to actually winning hee-haw the following season?
That's not a gradual decline, that would be a total collapse and yet, 'Over and Over we will Follow You'.

Unfortunately that faithfull attitude leads to contempt it seems from above.

2.) 04 Jan 2021 11:42:57
OAB 2 - summed up perfectly.

As supporters we've undoubtedly enjoyed a great deal of success in recent years (quadruple treble) especially, but what our board has overseen, including the appointment of NL, has been criminal.

But as long as the likes of Lawwell gets away with it, the longer it will continue.

3.) 04 Jan 2021 12:10:05
OAB
You’ve made a good point about winning 12 trophies in a row,
To a good chance of winning nothing this season.
Your correct, that is a total collapse.
Rangers won nothing the season they failed to win 10 in a row.
And when Celtic failed to win 10 in a row in the 70s,
We still won the 2 domestic cups that season.

4.) 04 Jan 2021 12:44:13
Brilliant, as usual Buzz; you are the main-man with the facts and figures. I remember the first 9-in-row and it was such a 'holy grail' there was little pressure to add a tenth, although it was expected.
Both clubs attempts at ten failed by only four points by us in 1975 (when it was 2pts for a win) and two points by them in 1998.
Celtic are record breaking 'custodians' of the Scottish Cup and the pressure could be on us to make sure we keep at least one trophy?

02 Jan 2021 14:57:46
Not many would concede a title
halfway through the season; but looking at it realistically, they have to lose 6-7 times while we have to win EVERY game and today summed up how difficult that will be when we lose, even playing them off-the-park. It was a flashback to the 1990's for a few of us.

Bitton was culpable, but Eddy was incapable and has been too often this season; I would let him go, with the other malcontents right now as he was yet again unable to produce when it mattered most.
Can't fault the performance up to a point, (crosses and final ball should have been better) ; but when you can't score with all that possession and give these pesky officials easy decisions like today, we deserve all we get.
I must mention Madhun who rightly sent off Bitton, but gave Morales '3 lives' before even a yellow; as well as his constantly breaking up our play and turning blind eyes.

I have bemoaned Lennon most of this season (including under a previous identity as Celtic_mad) , and even though he got it spot-on today; he should bow-out with the quadruple-treble in the cabinet with thanks - and we get in a quality manager to build for 2021.
We had to do the same with MON in 2000 when we fell 21 points behind Oldco and again with the previous manager after the difficult RD tenure and the time is right to clear the board (Lawell included) .
The day started so well but the year has started ominously.

Win the games in hand it's 10 points that's only 2 defeats and 2 draws. We will probably have to be the team that defeats them twice mind unless someone throws in a shock. They have tough Jan/ Feb fixtures I expect them to start dropping off. Their goal difference can easily be overtaken if we hit top form would be a beautiful way to win the 10 on goal difference. Might be over optimistic but their lead isn't insurmountable our form last few games still gives me hope we can turn it around.

Looking forward to the Final - even though I am not sure which team will take the field attempt this unique and magnificent achievement.
One thing for certain, Neilson is a much better manager than Levein, so it will be a tough game - but one we can win well, if everyone turns up?

Once a bhoy I’ve made my feelings on Lennon clear, and he should have went months ago. but to say Robbie neilson is a better manager than him is laughable mate! 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

{Ed007's Note - Are you on the beers already, Dan?}

Can't see anything on SLY - but then of it's no the EPL or Sevco they don't give a @*$#.

I think there's a room full of 'masked' men' hiding under the table declaring a 'Tier Ten' isolation and waiting for a 'Null and Void'.

So is that the squad for the next three games (counting tonight) ? Unless we make a few signings this week?

If Hibs refuse to play the fixture I think they will be docked points and maybe even fined? The testing was done within the last 24-36 hours and should still be valid; It's also a ' SLY Live' game.

More serious concerns regarding our 'scouting and recruitment' if this turns out to be true? The scouting is done via SLY .

I think it is very worrying what has been allowed to happen this season and I won't bore you all with the chronological calamities.
Seems the club have thrown it the towel weeks ago and the 9 points dropped in the last three games has all but put the tin hat on it.
So now what? We sell-off as many players as possible for profit and complete the season with what's left for pride and a cup?
Any cash brought in during this last week of the 'window' will ensure bonuses will be secure for the major share holders, when the accounts are audited and the bank manager is appeased.
Personally, I would have much preferred a huge shake-up after the Sevco game and subsequent Dubai disaster showing a statement of intent and proper preparation for next season.
However, I suppose we now wait until the summer and hope lessons have been learned and amends will be made for gross mismanagement.

It's even more worrying how ALL the players fitness levels will fall even further after another five months of this management team.

The big problem (as if we haven't had enough of them) is over confidence because of the vax program - even though it will take several months to complete initial jabs for everyone (who wants it? ) .
There is still a risk of C.V. even up to three weeks after the first injection and some contradictory info on the most effective time for the second. Add to that the number of daily confirmed cases is still very high considering we have been 'locked-down; since Boxing Day and I really doubt anyone has a proper handle on this?
Both governments have also made serious errors of judgement in the past and by all accounts we are in a worse position than last year.

Onceabhoy 2

{Ed007's Note - That's what I'm saying, OAB, I don't think anyone has a proper handle on it and there's no point speculating and guessing about it. As we've seen since March last year there's no way of predicting what's going to happen in the coming months. The OP asked if it was viable that football could shutdown and of course it is while the virus is about and people are dying from it.}

Maybe too big a job too soon as the owner has a reputation for zero tolerance of failure and is impatient with managers at times.
Although Chelsea currently sit 9th, they are only five points behind Liverpool in fourth with half a season to go (not 23 points) .
Our Board are much more lenient and forgiving - or just incompetent?

A giant of a man on and off the pitch and he scored a good few goals in his 5 seasons or so. Big Shuggie RIP.
