Hi fellas I see that Z. Zidane of RMD Talking about Off Loading Young Martin Odegaard. Think there was talk of him when Ronny D was Manager and also being friends with his Father. Could this lad be the answer we are looking for? In MF n if so would RD talk to the lad about coming to Celtic? . We could off load Stefan Johansen to Turkey Ambrose to Grease Kris Commons to His GM Stevens to Ross Co . Then add Gk. Michel Form. And a ST. If can find a Good one can't think from top of my Head who.? But I think we would have a good Squad.? Hail Hail😇.

Heard that he was supposed to be heading to Liverpool on loan.

Would think he would get better game time with us but hey ho another good one to fall through power fingers if we don't act now!

Bhoy is young. A question not an answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 05:19:38
Might be another one that looked like a superstar at fifteen and a hasbeen at eighteen, wouldn't be the first.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool are not interested in him, that story came about because he supports them. His wages are obscene and he has shown himself to be extremely immature and caused a fair few issues. The question is how much of his wages will Madrid be willing to pay just to get him away from the club? I doubt any other club would go anywhere near paying him what he earns there.}

09 Aug 2016 07:01:50
From what I hear about the boy is he's a poor trainer with a big chip on his shoulder which is why zz doesn't want him near the 1st team.

Keep away at all costs I say better out there for that cash and less attitude. Seems a real positive attitude and hunger at the club and a kid with no track record and massive salary will disrupt that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there has been times he has refused to turn up for training with their B team as he feels he is too good for it, that happened a few times while Zidane was managing the B side. I know he agreed a contract which included training with the first team a couple of times a week, but he has not been good enough so they didn't want him there. That has to be a worry for any team interested in signing him. If he is not prepared to just work harder to prove himself, then he is not going to achieve his potential.}

09 Aug 2016 07:41:23
Defo Ed I heard that about the training incidents bet he was raging when zz got 1st team job.

Every player has potential but hard work and training push them over the line. I hope he makes it but not for us, if he can't be bothered in Madrid can't see him up for it in Glasgow.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame to see such talent go to waste.}

09 Aug 2016 08:35:30
Classic case of to much too young.
Talent is a gift
Attitude is a life choice

Combine talent with the right attitude and you will be a winner.

09 Aug 2016 09:22:04
Aindoh . similar to scott sinclair? (Has been a bit harsh on both. ) I don't think k it would harm to take the boy on loan with an agreed deal to buy . we've taken worse in recent years.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 09:29:28
Island celt. too young is the important thing here at 16 and always being told your the next superstar getting treated differently to your teammates . how do you think you would handle it? I thi nk it would be very easy to get caught up on all the bullshit the modern media / agents laud players with .

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 10:01:12
At the moment he's to big a gamble if we sign another mid I would like to see someone with a bit more aggressive play.

Think the kid went to Madrid way to early in his career there not exactly renowned for youth development.

09 Aug 2016 11:30:17
Maybe, time will tell.

08 Aug 2016 22:37:06
Yes vorm is a class keeper and would fit the position perfectly but let's be realistic I can't see Spurs letting him go for under 5 million and he does get a game when spurs are in the cups, c'mon lads.

I would've trying to bring in a back up goalkeeper would've beena better option than anotherCH.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2016 21:12:13
I wouldn't be surprised if Celtic were trying to bring in a first choice goal keeper because B R has said he was signing players to go on team, not to take their place in the squad . Our goal keeper seems to panic in European games.

Agree2 Disagree2

08 Aug 2016 22:30:47
Old bhoy

For me Gordon is a new breed of goalkeeper, the type that isn't as daft as a brush who'd put their head hands knees and body in where it hurts to prevent a goal IE with Gordon its personal safety first before the dirty work which equals liability

You can't play with a half hearted weak minded goalkeeper. It is his prerogative I guess but it creates a draught at the back and a nervousness

He does not command his box.

Even pre his £9m move he was prone to a howler but back then he was a little more committed

He is a smart boy playing the game in a way that suits himself which, if tolerated by CFC, is a smart move

PS I know goalies are not daft but it was said to make a wider point IE CG is a personal safety first kind of goalkeeper and that means that we have limitations in that department.

09 Aug 2016 01:14:49
Ouch.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 23:18:04
One of the difficulties I have with Gordon, is that he will come 23 yards to head a
ball, yet he won't come 3 yds to catch a corner or cross .

Did anybody else think that Cowie fella tried to take KT out the game. i thought it was a shocker and a straight red.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2016 21:16:49
I think you are right, but the referee never seem to have any thoughts other than yellow cards and give a penalty to Hearts for an incident he didn't see .
Our three new players would have been surprised by the bias refereeing, at least they have seen it early.

Agree2 Disagree3

08 Aug 2016 21:35:36
100% agree wae u bhampot, that's why I was raging with neilson in his after match interview when he's banging on about another penalty they should've got, how Sinclair got permission to play and had the cheek to mention that in his opinion brown should've been sent off. What about his own teams discipline? Was it 7/ 8 yellow cards and yer right cowie's tackle on KT should've been a straight red mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 22:34:23
Nelson said those things to put a marker down and to effectively highlight to his own fans that mitigating events contributed to nil points. Secondly by saying these things he is saying out loud that they should benefit next time around from the benefit of the doubt

It's all just a big game

BR will have his moments too when he sees a different game to all of us as a way to deflect away attention.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 18:55:58
Forrest is like watt and not required anymore. Need players who have club first! can't fit the jersey. Watching games in Tenerife, superb😎 hail hail.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

08 Aug 2016 20:02:19
Norway1: is there a possibility that BR wants Forrest as a back up for SS and PR. If we look at the front line PR SS MD LG . if any 1 picks up a knock like PR then there is no back up player with pace.

Agree3 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 20:09:58
Rodgers is talking him up mate don't see him leaving anymore and so far he's been better still has plenty of room for improvement though.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 20:18:03
Forrest will do fine under BR. I think he will get him playing. He has pace and BR loves that. BR will offer him a new deal, and if he stays he will get a tune out of him.

Agree1 Disagree2

08 Aug 2016 20:32:38
The problem is he doesn't make up for his error, ex last game he coughs. up the ball and it's 5 yards off with the player on ground and he doesn't even try to get it, he let's the guy get up and take the ball.

If BR can get him to give his all when he loses the ball then he can be a lot better. He has a lot of talent but needs to pass/ shoot better and have the hunger of getting the ball back.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 21:01:08
If forrest can maintain form of yesterday he would be worth keeping, if only for a bit of cover he played really well again at a tough venue BR seems to have gave him a new lease of life.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 21:19:41
Forrest has demonstrated since Brendan Rodgers has took over that he is good enough for our ist team squad. B R will be more likely to judge him on his form since Rodgers took over.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 22:11:38
He's a good back up and maybe will become a better player with the quality that is in front of him (INJURY FREE) . Real competition for places should bring out that competitive edge!

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 22:36:40
Footy

Great point

That's the issue with Forrest and of course final delivery and decision making

Albeit LG makes very poor team decisions too and is too greedy too often.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Aug 2016 01:18:34
Least he's not throwing his arms up at every tackle and not tracking back. Forrest can have a role here: not a starting one I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:40:24
Good to see a manager making substitutions that change game and formation rather than last season when it seemed like for like.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2016 21:23:11
He certainly gambled on a win yesterday by replacing O' Connell with Rogic and it certainly worked this time . It might not every time but it's good to see the manager pushing to all out attack . Good message to players of what he wanted.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 22:38:42
It did work but not because of the effect TR had. He didn't get up to pace at all

It was a progressive substitution and positive move but IMVHO it was more of a coincidence given the nature of the goal we scored iE a very quick counter that would have been scored had EO been on the pitch and not TR.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:32:21
It seems to me that in a short period of time we've gone from woeful to well beyond half decent at centre half. I never realised how good Toure was and he can only be a massive mentor for young O Connell and Erik too. God knows but put Vorm or someone of that calibre behind them we've suddenly got a defence worthy of playing champions league football.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2016 19:50:43
There's no doubt Toure has class and experience, but he will take time to adjust to new team mates, opponents and fitness levels.
Yesterday was a tough test and although a few of the players were under par, it was a good defensive display for the most part and a great three points at a venue we have dropped points before.
I feel we still need a better keeper and another tackler or two in the middle of the park to improve that bit more.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2016 22:15:24
That's what I have been saying about Toure even b4 he kicked a ball for us VT. Toure has been winning titles in the premier league and is always solid! He was my man of the match in the Europa league final.

So this Euro play-off against Hapoel Beer Sheva. . think we need to stop talking them up. What a chance to go through we have. I know they beat Olympiacos (and I think they were the highest ranked of the Champions route teams) but they are a lowly ranked team and we will have too much for them. Would have preferred second leg at Paradise, but apart from that we should be fine. What do others think?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2016 16:42:31
Think we really need players like Roberts against a stubborn defensive team. Need more creative sparks like him to break down difficult teams. I still fancy our chances would like more than a one goal lead.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:08:40
Don't think we need to talk down anyteam, complacency is the last thing we need, if the team plays to the best of its abilities it should go thru, but I think Celtic will have to play well in both legs to get through.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:10:07
Their ranking means very little though. At the end of the day they've won their league and knocked out Olympiacos. I still think we'll get past them though.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:15:26
We need at least a 2-0 lead to take over there! If we concide we are in trouble! I hope Rogers really goes for it at Parkhead! Remember last year we should of been 3-0 up in the first leg missed an easy chance then coincided late it cost us dearly!

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:21:27
A think we'll do them at parkhead but think we'll struggle away. If we can take 2-0 over there we should be fine, think 1-1 over there.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:31:16
the tie against the Israelis will be all about "mentality" and discipline

they are (matter-of-factly) no better than us, albeit they will think likewise.

The worst thing we could do is assume they are this and that. They are what they are, as are we. We are playing a team that will no doubt play well "as a team" and judging by results (which can be misleading) ) they appear quite stuffy.

To reiterate, we need to take them as we find them and ensure that our plan is designed to achieve a solid home result.

I do not imagine the new 16,000 stadium they play in (even if full) will be any worse than tynecastle; also they are early in their season (which must benefit us)

greek football isn't what it was and as per the national team, Greek football is on the slide due to economics and so I wouldn't read too much in to Olympiakos either

CFC are very average at present; they will be average too….

remember Malmo …2-0 up after 8 minutes and then we (sort of) stopped playing …
……we couldn't shake them off and they kept coming because we gave them nothing to think about at their end of the park …we invited malmo back in

we cannot do this again…

full house…night of passion…. concentrated effort., …. good discipline and we should achieve a positive result…. if we do all of those things and still lose then it will be because of very unfortunate luck on the night (which can happen) and of course because they play a blinder (IE every one of them) which can also happen ….

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 19:56:20
It's all about how we perform over the two legs - especially the goalie and defenders, who have made silly errors in the past.
The encouraging thing I have seen so far, is that BR is quick to alter shape, tactics and personnel if and when we need it and in previous seasons under NL and RD, we have been slow to go to 'plan B' - or C (if at all) and have suffered the consequences.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 20:25:59
Bhoys don't underestimate this lot. This is a very good team and if we beat them then BR is working his magic. I think these are the toughest opponents we have come up against in qualifying for 3 years. Worst draw we could have got. If we can sign a keeper before the game that would be fantastic, and Roberts needs to be back, then we might just turn them over but there won't be more than one goal in it. This is going to be a tough one but Hail Hail, we are Celtic so great things can happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 21:32:23
Johnnnymac in fact this was either the second easiest or easiest team we could have been drawn against . Dundalk are the only team with lower ranking points, but Dundalk are mid way through their season . This Isreli - team haven't started their season yet, so it's very unusual for Celtic to be further on in their preparation than our opponents . I would be shocked if any player or any of the management under estimated this team, surely we wouldn't be that unprofessional, I doubt if B R rests any players for the domestic fixtures😄😅.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 22:54:14
Your right not to discount this team, I know they beat the highest seeds in the last round but we must go into the games with belief remember this team lost two goals at home to a team lower ranked than the Greeks FC SHERIFFof Moldova who were leading before being reduced to ten men so we can score home and away. Things are starting to take shape we look like a football team with confidence I won't underestimate hapoel but I do feel confident so let's all get behind our team and get back where Celtic belong hail hail.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 15:41:14
Great result lads edge of the seat stuff, slowly getting our buzz back to where it belongs, but it's only 1 game and we didn't play that great, tho we do have plenty to keep positive about. So let's trust the manager. What about the cheeky hearts fan having a swing at Sinclair after the he ran behind goal after scoring! lol get it round them. Anyway.
Ed or anyone what's your thoughts on Patterson from hearts do u think he's good enough for us? Personally think he's a great player solid as a rock, and we should be snapping him up at a snip. Like the fact Rodgers is buying British lads! Last time we had a manager that done that looked what happened folks.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:11:26
Yes I mean British based lads, it's just getting that balance of homegrown, British based and foreign players right, we were superb before with that British style mentality so why not hope for the same. I can't wait. Although time will tell if we can play that way again consistently while adapting to these formation changes.
Great u mention Toure as it was just a breath of fresh air to watch him play against hearts. Even though he's past his prime class tells. His positioning is outstanding and he reads a game really well, anyone who's played will tell you that is just priceless and he'll be a huge asset to us. Onwards n upwards bhoys. HH.

08 Aug 2016 18:26:12
Just having a laugh stew lol. totally agree with the buying of British players and British based! Been impressed with big toure since he came in! Makes defending look simple! Pity we couldn't have got him a few years ago! But I think he's still got at least 2 good seasons left in him yet! And our young centre halfs can only benefit from a guy like him!

Stewbhoy agree we should sign Patterson. Proper right back. Would be a great addition and I think he is only 19? Buy him!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 21:38:06
I must say I owe B R and Toure an apology as I wasn't sure Toure would be in any way fit and ready for European qualifying or indeed the rough and tumbe of SPFL football. I noticed yesterday early in the match at set pieces he was shouting out orders to the rest of the defenders . In the 2nd half Brown was geeing them up as well.
Toure took up position where the corner was likely to come in and he cleared a good few.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 00:14:47
All good beav lol johnny the boy would just get better in our team playing with better players he's one of those players who's always stuck out whenever ave seen him. Plenty of potential in this lad and he's scottish!
Rare thing (a classy scottish defender :-D) cause a believe they can be, and if we could go with two flying scottish wingbacks in KT and Patterson al take that.
Anyone think the same? ED lol
HH.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't care what nationality players are but he's a good player. I don't think he's better than Lustig or Janko though and he'll become a better player staying at Hearts rather than becoming a bit part player at Celtic.}

08 Aug 2016 15:32:21

08 Aug 2016 16:43:31
We shouldn't be surprised after all this is a board who took 6 weeks to sign Sinclair. Lawwell is probably in The Priory in therapy because we spent 4.5m on one player, he'll be on the phone to Dermott Desmond pleading with him not to spend anymore money.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 18:38:20

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 21:42:16
It was commitment and showing no intention of giving up that seemed to get us Sinclair We have until 16/ 08/ 2016 to get a wild card in . I would rather it took most of that time to get a Rodgers' specific player in, rather than a nt middling player for that position.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 22:36:57
What a lot of garbage Old Bhoy, if people in other jobs were taking 6 weeks to seal deals they would be out on their arses sacked for incompetence. A club of our size should have people competent and experienced enough to negotiate deals efficently and as quickly as possible instead of scrambling about for last minute wildcards.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2016 06:39:32
Can't believe the cheek of Robbie neilson, he gets a penalty first half for a blatant dive then complains he should've got one in the second half, when toure made the challenge the boy takes another step or 2 then goes down way to easy but because they get 1 on the first half he assumes they should automatically get that in the second? Then he moans how Celtic got Sinclair registered in such a short space of time and he shouldn't have been playing, didn't hear him complaining about the over handed tackles flying in left right and centre which accumulated in his team getting 7/ 8 bookings, which makes me laugh when I seen his after match interview in which he believes brown should've been sent off. With the amount of bookings his team received I'm surprised it wasn't his team that was reduced in numbers. Guys a real yin!

Believable10 Unbelievable2

08 Aug 2016 07:22:09
Think neilson made himself look rather foolish yesterday, and not for the first time! Utter garbage he spouted! They us panicking and that's why we're bringin 4 million pound players on, and we were booting the balling out the park because how well they played! What a fud! Didn't even know that u can register players on a Saturday! Talking about getting a penalty in the 2nd half when they've just had one in the first half for a clear dive! And we'll see if there player gets banned for that! Listened to this guy a few times and he doesn't half talk pish!

08 Aug 2016 00:33:03
We played ok today! A lot have been moaning about brown but Iv always been an admirer of him but he's re invigerated! Young KT has got to be one of the best LBs in Britain phenomenal! Know he's not played much but would like Kolo to drive the ball 5/ 10 yards forward in possession would help playing out from the back. I complained when EC went out on loan last year because he looked a good prospect the boy oozes quality! I don't see why Rodgers is sticking with mcgregor? Rogic will thrive with the pace we have In front of him driving defenders back extra second or 2 to find passes! Last but least our new front 4 we are going to be frightening once we get out of second gear shame Roberts is only here for the year!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2016 13:54:23
I think and I could very well be wrong that Rodgers picks Mc Gregor ahead of Rogic as he regards Mc Gregor as a better harasser than Rogic . Our midfield / attacking players are reguired by B R to keep the opponent defenders under pressure.

what a load of pish we all know Forrest and commons downed tools last season and Scott brown admitted he was playing with an injury won't be long before Forrest pulls a hamstring again and will be out drinking and eating fish suppers on the weekend instead of playing.

I agree to some extent big d. Till these 2 or promised three come in I have no problem with ANY of the current squad raising their game. We need it so there's no f***in point giving pelters when we are going in the right direction. I get what your saying but i'm putting it on the back burner for now. If we don't make any decent moves for players by the time the window shuts because "we have enough' attitude then I'd be with you 100%
I'll add I had the fear of death pass over my soul when kt was waving at the bench today with his good arm. I honesty thought he had dislocated his shoulder. My only post match thought's were they must of sent a signal to pop it back in by himself! The wee guy is granite. It would of taken a fair bit of pain for him to wave to be subbed, he managed it and played on when other players wouldn't of stood back up. I can't express in words how grateful I am to have him in the team. He is a standout every time we walk out. Thought LG was a bit greedy as well till his cracking run and assist. Nothing is as it seems the now but it feels better so far.

Players will sometimes behave like school kids, especially if they sense weakness or leniency, with laziness, lack of discipline and dropping of standards becomes a very bad habit.
There was a real lack of respect and professionalism from some of this squad last season or two and personally, I would root them out.

Well fellow tims. I watched the game yesterday like all of yas. I don't know if you will agree but I have been having real excitement coming accross me watching our bhoys, something which has been missing for a long long time. My heart still goes in my mouth when crosses come in, hopefully that will ease. I didn't hear any of the post match comments but after reading one of the posts, i expected that of neilson, he never talks sense. The penalty reminded me of the penalty which the manky mob was awarded against us, in which whitikar was involved in. Shambolic decision. Imo hearts players kicked at anything above grass height. Brown, toure, kt and o'connell were my standouts today. It was like the old broonie. Toure is bringing loads of experience and organisation, which as been sadly lacking at the back. Forrest did well but I am still not convinced he is the answer. I think o'connell will save us loads of money. Which is music to pl ears lol. Still prefer Armstrong in the middle of midfield. In saying all that. Hearts will beat the real darkside.

MRgreen big d has pointed out brown wasn't 1 of the 3 that was commons Forrest n mulgrew. Brown played while injured n not fit, as for Forrest Rd had him fitter than he had been n injury free n he had various good games in the last 2 seasons, he mentioned that in his interview after the game, but he has never managed 2 find a consistent run of good form. I hope br can get him to that as I only want the best 4 Celtic whoever plays. Commons will be punted, he doesn't fit the style of play br wants, high press and quick passing and movement, so regardless of off field issues he needs moved on.
As for Johansen, he was only back from injury last week so it might take a few games b4 he starts more regularly, as I can c McGregor dropping 2 the bench, he's s good player n has some good touches, passes n can score just don't know if he's in the game enough at times.
Scott brown also played well under Rd, he just had persistent injuries, specially the hip, that at times hindered him, was only latter part of last season his form dropped.

U were born in 56. I agree that there were some last season who showed a lack of respect and professionalism . I think they should have been sent packing over the last year or two. It isn't up to u or me to personally get rid of them .
I think B R should have had his cards marked for him re them and I think he has inherited the squad and it's his responsibility to keep those he wants and to move on those he doesn't want.
