Look on the bright side. The last time we played Sudova, we ended up playing in a European final. It's an omen. Granted a rubbish one and the Europa league final is in Baku this year.

Show racism the red card have been quick to jump to Shae Logan's defence for an apparent offence. I don't recall any comments from them on any of the occasions when Scott Sinclair actually was abused.

Viking tim

1.) 09 Jul 2018 20:02:37
They’ve called for Logan’s claims of racial abuse to be fully investigated - which of course they should be - and a quick Google search would show you that SRtRC have commented on the treatment of Sinclair (including comments where they actually called out the governing bodies over their silence) . You also say Sinclair “actually was abused”, are you suggesting that Logan wasn’t? And if so do you have evidence to back it up? Tbh this has been a bee in my bonnet for a while now, the fans try and say he gets stick because he’s a wind up merchant and general @rse, which he is, but that’s a cop out because he didn’t have any notable altercations with our support before the Tonev incident. Nobody even knew who he was and he certainly wasn’t booed before or during that game but then all of a sudden he’s being booed the next game? His antics more recently have given credence to the wind up claim but if we’re honest it started straight after the Tonev incident and his antics are a reaction to the stick he gets. I may well get a lot of stick for this but that’s my honest view and I’ve seen plenty of folk shouting that he’s a liar etc. and I think it’s extremely poor from a support who so often love to take the moral high ground over similar issues.

{Ed007's Note - I backed Logan against Tonev for the simple reason he was found guilty and we weren't privy to the evidence the SFA seen but this time I'm calling him out as a liar, I would bet my last dime that it never happened and Celtic should take legal action against Logan and the newspaper that manipulated the story, don't forget that not one single Aberdeen player or official has ever brought this up including during Logan's appeal hearing for his antics at Celtic Park for which he received a 3 match ban.

James Forrest rips the story apart here: https://goo.gl/XUxdNX

2.) 09 Jul 2018 20:41:55
i can honestly say the only time i've ever heard racist comments at celtic park was many years ago against mark walters which was a disgrace , but all the games i've been to involving logan including thd match in question i've never heard any shouts that are remotley racist towards him hr gets abuse there's no arguing the fact but celtic fans racist i don't think so.

3.) 09 Jul 2018 21:00:34
I agree with all of that Ed but as an anti-racism organisation SRtRC have to back an investigation into any claims of this nature and then hopefully if it goes ahead he’s found to be lying in this instance. The misrepresentation of BR’s comments are scandalous and it’s giving ammunition to some of the scummiest, bitter folk going.

{Ed007's Note - SRtRC should either speak up against all forms or racism including the rampant anti-Irish racism especially shown towards Neil Lennon or shut their mealy mouths. They're not fit for purpose and I wouldn't trust a bunch of morons like that to investigate an itchy ar$e.}

4.) 09 Jul 2018 21:12:41
Celtic had black players playing that day, I'm sure that some of them would have spoken out had Logan really been racially abused.
Logan seems to act before he thinks. He made a complete fool of himself after the final whistle against us, for what reason I haven't a clue. His team had just had a great result, he should just have celebrated with his teammates and enjoyed it.
If players start to use the race card when there hasn't been any abuse aimed at them, then they risk the whole fight against racism going backwards as people will start not believing genuine cases, that is no use to anyone.
Logan would be better trying to improve his game and make sure he doesn't get any daft suspensions. Somebody at Aberdeen should have a word in his ear.

5.) 09 Jul 2018 21:21:52
Yes I'm one hundred percent suggesting Shae Logan wasn't racially abused. Not even a peep was made at the time either from him or anyone else and seeing as he's the one slandering us, the onus is on him to provide proof. He's at it.

{Ed007's Note - That's why I think it's garbage too, there was never any mention of it even at his appeal hearing. The way he says he expects now means that it's happened before as well and not just at May's game, total and complete bollocks.}

6.) 09 Jul 2018 21:27:39
It’s too convenient for the Lennon abuse to be labelled as “sectarianism” and not racism so they don’t need to get heir hands dirty with that. Anyway, I have no time for Shay Logan but it does bug me that many of our fans are adamant he lied about Tonev purely, it seems, because he was playing for Celtic. If it was one of our players who made the claim our fans would fully back them and it just doesn’t sit right with me and I struggle to hold my tongue on the issue.

{Ed007's Note - The Tonev incident wasn't handled well by a lot of fans.}

7.) 09 Jul 2018 21:41:58
He's a wee rat with a chip on his shoulder because we always pump them simples.

8.) 09 Jul 2018 21:36:51
Logan is a nobody trying desperately to be a somebody! I didn’t believe it when he accused Tonev and I certainly don’t believe it now! U think a big mouthed clown like that could have kept his mouth shut since the end of last season if this actually happened? Don’t make me laugh! Not a word from him, his mananager or his club! A journeyman bang average at best player who loves nothing better than drawing attention to himself! And he knows he can’t do it in a football sense so this is how he gets in the limelight! I hope they open up an inquiry immediately and this wee bam gets shown up for the liar that he is!

9.) 09 Jul 2018 21:54:14
If it happened it’s horrible. And it’s a pretty grim claim to make if untrue.

However you can tell by the words he used that it’s nonsense. I’d bet Logan didn’t even know he was going to say that until it came out his mouth.

1. There were thousands of fans there booing him etc and he managed to hear racist slurs from a small minority? Or is he suggesting there were many? Either way seems unlikely.

2. That would be a pretty traumatic experience. Yet instead of reporting it to his employer. He reveals it after being prompted in an interview nearly 2 months later. Hmm.

I think Logan would have agreed to just about anything the reporter asked him that day. He hates us with a passion. And he’s as thick as mince.

10.) 09 Jul 2018 21:57:22
@VikingTim - Apologies, I thought you meant the Tonev incident which he did speak up about straight away.

11.) 09 Jul 2018 22:16:11
Kevbhoy I enjoy and respect your posts. A lot of them I agree with some of them I don’t but I always respect someone’s opionion. In this case I do disagree. I really can’t stand the boy Logan but that has nothing to do with the colour of his skin it’s to do with the way he conducts himself on the park towards our players and our fans. He really doesn’t impact the game when we play them so instead tries to antagonise our players and fans. That’s just my opinion. I only speak for myself. 👍🏻.

12.) 09 Jul 2018 22:30:45
Ice Man he definitely is a knob and does all he can to get a rise out of our players and fans but I just can’t accept that the stick he gets is nothing to do with the Tonev thing at all because it started immediately after that when he had only played against us a couple of times and without incident. In no way am I saying the stick he gets is racially motivated either, just Celtic fans being defensive about the club.

13.) 09 Jul 2018 22:52:21
You could very well be right Kev. I did all seem to stem from the Tonev incident and both sides have very much kept it going. I’m happy for him to keep to his petulant ways and have little footballing impact.

14.) 10 Jul 2018 06:46:02
Here’s a fact about Logan
He’s rank

Sectarianism and racism should be treated with equal contempt - both are unacceptable
this weeks papers are filled with orange order
What a state our country is in.
Shows racism the red card
What about the deep rooted bigotry?

Gutted for Lustig.

04 Jun 2018 20:04:35
I just wanted to congratulate big Boyata for making a mega talented Belgian squad for the World Cup. got to believe his form over the last month got him the nod. Asides from KT and probably Moussa, would we have any players in that squad?

Viking tim

1.) 04 Jun 2018 20:26:40
Absolutely good call VT, it wasn’t ago his head was called for here, but seems to improve by the day. Hope the lad gets a good run and prove himself worthy to be representing Celtic.

2.) 04 Jun 2018 20:36:18
His problem is concentration. When he's on it he's as good as we will get. Big mobile and fast, a real modern CB. if he keeps it together!

{Ed007's Note - When Boyata just follows his instinct and doesn't think too much he's a solid enough defender. I noticed a few times (I think it was the cup final) he was just hitting the ball out for a throw-in rather than pass it back to the 'keeper or trying and take on the attacker. If he keeps his concentration and keeps it simple he plays well.}

3.) 04 Jun 2018 20:47:10
Boyata was a rock the last 5 games of the season. Hope he signs a new deal.

4.) 04 Jun 2018 22:44:53
I agree with Ed. If the bug fellow would just be the new Bobo crunch head and howff it out hed be sound. Its when he tries to be to silky, which is to much for me, that ge gives me the fear.

5.) 04 Jun 2018 23:06:03
I should proof read more when drinking Ed. Big fat thumbs and all that.

6.) 05 Jun 2018 00:35:11
I have always liked big Boyata, he may have lacked some confidence from time to time , but we shouldn't blame him, too many fans treated him like Ambrose.

7.) 05 Jun 2018 02:34:07
He has made the same mistakes as Efe from time to time, but as yous have said if he concentrates and clears his lines he is a decent cb .

8.) 05 Jun 2018 08:37:57
Well done to him. I've defended him as much as anybody on here and would like him to stay to at least be part of the squad. But, if rumours are true about him wanting to move elsewhere then this could be a good shop window for us. With Kompany and Vermaelen made of glass, and Belgium playing a back 3. Boyata could find himself playing.

9.) 05 Jun 2018 10:10:51
The frustrating thing about Boyata is that he does have what it takes. He sadly also has had a tendency to make major balls ups at crucial times in big games.

I agree with the consensus that if he sorts out taking stupid and suicidal risks then he moved up another level. The question is do we take the risk? We need another really good CB and that in itself will put pressure on him to sort out his scary tendencies.

I hope he plays in the WC and does great. Even if he doesn’t recsign that alone will get us a good return if he chooses pastures new, if he stays the confidence gained will help us. Conversely. If he has a nightmare then having adequate cover is vital.

A RB is also a must for me. Our main weakness is in defence and needs addressed as a matter of urgency.

{Ed007's Note - But it isn't really the defence that's worrying. We conceded the same amount of goals in the league as last year and the defence was good enough to win another treble while only conceding 2 goals in both the cup competitions.
The problem was we scored 33 less goals in the league than we did previously and we drew blanks at home against teams like St Johnstone, Killie and Motherwell, if our defence was as shoddy as some people think we'd have lost some of the 10 draws we had.
There is absolutely nothing to back up this notion that our defence is our weakness.}

10.) 05 Jun 2018 10:38:49
The CL is the level we attain to. We lost the most goals of all teams in it. That tells me that this is an area that needs addressed. If we are happy with SPFL stats then you’re right, we shouldn’t be though. I’m not saying we are covered in other areas, im saying last season in thevCL we were humiliated more than once. We would have had a great chance to beat Bayern had it not been for one suicidal mistake from Boyata and failing to meet the cross for their second.

The defence isn’t good enough. Lustig has lost two yards. We don’t have acreplacemt of adequate cover for him. Hendry doesn’t look good enough for the SPFL never mind the CL.

Our rabbits in the headlights approaches to big games there for me was contributed to through fear of losing the ball and leaving it to a defence no one should feel confident in.

We have been saying for years our defence isn’t good enough and European level football confirms this every season. We can’t go another year with hope and talking up players who might be good enough. We need players who are. A RB and s CB who go straight in are a must.

{Ed007's Note - We need to sort out our AM department domestically before we even think about anything in Europe. In Europe our problems are more about tactics than personnel, if Rodgers played a midfield 3 (4-3-2-1) with 2 CDMs instead of 2 (4-2-3-1) with one CDM in there it would make all the difference.}

11.) 05 Jun 2018 11:00:03
I would agree better tactics will help, better players will make those improved tactics even more effective. Let’s be bold and do both.

{Ed007's Note - I'll be surprised if a RB is brought in if I'm being honest.}

12.) 05 Jun 2018 11:48:11
Then that will be a mistake. Lustig, as much as I love him is on the downward curve. Ralston isn’t good enough imo and to leave that position to them both will be a decision that relies on hope.

I actually think we will this time, but I thought we would last time so you’re probably right.

{Ed007's Note - Lustig's been carrying an ankle knock most of the season so that hasn't helped and I don't think going to the WC will do him any good in the longer term. For years Lustig has spoke about how he will eventually move to play at CB because of his ongoing hip problems and at 31 this might be the ideal time to do that.}

13.) 05 Jun 2018 12:37:32
He certainly could provide cover so maybe that’s an option for him. Pace is still a factor though and age slows everyone down.

14.) 05 Jun 2018 22:54:52
Ed007 . It seems that it is very easy for some fans to slag defenders . They see a bit of a slip or a bit of lack of control and they go mad with their criticism . Every defender in the World can have some degree of error in their game at some stage. Fans who have played the game understand .
The creative midfielder is more difficult to assess, he relies a lot on quality and timing of getting ball and movement of players around him . Because fans don't fully understand the intricities involved they tend to ignore these players and blame the defence who concede a goal every two games. , as giving them nightmares, even if the defence may not be at fault for half goals conceded.

So Charlie Nicholas was impressed with the way Gerrard spoke yesterday? From one guy who can barely string a sentence together to the the other. What a fud!

Viking tim

1.) 05 May 2018 16:48:56
Thought the same thing myself VT but I wouldn’t read too much into a thick fuds thoughts on a egotistical fud.

2.) 05 May 2018 17:22:40
I wholeheartedly agree JP.

3.) 05 May 2018 17:26:02
Nicholas is a clown, plain and simple! Had to laugh at his this has got me worried line! Cannot stand the man and this he’s a big celtic man is one load of rubbish! He mite used to have been a big celtic man, but those days were a long long time ago! First class person!

4.) 05 May 2018 17:33:14
He's a sky man.

5.) 05 May 2018 18:00:21
Oh he's defiantly a big Celtic man Lh86 and that's what makes the fact he's sold his soul for 30 pieces of silver even worse.

6.) 05 May 2018 18:40:58
He is like a good few ex-Celts who 'bend the knee' to SLY and adopt the party-line in all things anti-Celtic.
It's such a stomach churner to hear clowns like Nicholas, Walker, Provan and others who wore the Hoops, took the wages, adulation and medals, but are quick to try and criticize or belittle our club and it's achievements.
Bertie Auld and Chris Sutton could teach them all lesson.

7.) 05 May 2018 18:55:04
First class person, seriously ED! Why don’t u put up what I really called him! As I said kev he used to be a big celtic man! And that was long ago! Guys a parasite and no better than the English clowns he panders to! In fact he’s worse!

{Ed007's Note - It's a filter that blocks out certain words, it was that or posts with the words wouldn't even reach editing.}

for the last god knows how long it’s been obvious that we need a keeper, a right back and a right good centre half. That’s just to attempt to sort the defence. We also need a number 10 that turns up more than half a dozen times a season when it suits &a genuine quality wife player. Oh and a scouting department that actually has a fecking clue what they’re doing. Or is it the board or the manager?
