Overall pretty a underwhelming window in terms of strengthening but at least we got some players out the door that wasn't contributing to the team. Let's hope the new look recruitment team can work some wonders in the summer as they'll be busy. A CB or two, ST, LB, winger maybe even a CDM needed with CL qualifiers looming early into the season. Always seems to be square pegs and round holes when they come around as we haven't planned ahead with recruitment and players end up injured. God forbid Idah or KT gets injured in pre season.

DontLookBackInAnge

{Ed007's Note - He's not even in the door and people are worrying about Hob Nob Hips getting injured ?? Can anyone tell me why it's a good deal again?

1.) 04 Feb 2025 00:12:02
There's no chance he's going to be injury free for an entire season so the pessimist in me says it'll be during the qualifiers. I've just been on X to see if there's any stories about Kvistgaarden and seen your GIF at someone's joke about "I never promised you a Kvistgaarden" ??.

{Ed007's Note - That's was Henke from the discord that posted that ??

2.) 04 Feb 2025 01:17:31
???.

3.) 04 Feb 2025 09:34:46
I think we have cover at LB with Taylor, Scales, Reo and Schlupp, but unless Kenny is given minutes we will never know if he can step up to be our 2nd striker, never mind our 3rd. We all love Daizen’s energy but his finishing it not great. So we are playing a dangerous game with our front 3. We know Daizen, Khun and Jota will chip in with a few but a couple of injuries or suspensions could cost us a cup and the treble.

09 Jan 2025 18:34:29
Apparently Palma is off to Rayo Vallecano on loan with option to buy. Bit strange if this one is imminent as we're short on wingers as it is. Doesn't seem to be any concrete interest in a winger currently either.

DontLookBackInAnge

1.) 09 Jan 2025 19:51:16
The Belgian boy was doingbthe rounds a few days ago.

2.) 10 Jan 2025 11:17:52
We were also linked with a winger from Hammarby.

3.) 10 Jan 2025 12:04:53
Reports they want 9m for him.

14 Aug 2024 16:51:33
Acoording to Nicolo Shhira MoR has already agreed terms with Atalanta. All that's to be agreed is the fee for him. With them agreeing a deal with Juve for Koopmeiners for €50m I can see this being sorted out by the weekend. All ties in with us being linked to Arne Engles out of no where, likely MoR replacement.

DontLookBackInAnge

1.) 14 Aug 2024 18:39:37
I remember reading about 10 days ago that he had supposedly agreed terms with Atalanta so nothing has changed really. I'm 100% certain he will be gone before the window closes and as long as the club receive the figure that they are looking for then we move on. It's then all about who we will get to replace him.

2.) 14 Aug 2024 21:13:51
Where can I read the article on Engles?

3.) 14 Aug 2024 22:00:50
Ando, it was a daily record article. If the price is met and O’Riley wants it then it’ll happen, it’s very unlikely we’ll get a ready made replacement but these things happen at Celtic, someone will emerge or we’ll be shopping (and getting frustrated) in the difficult January window.

4.) 14 Aug 2024 22:05:18
Celts are here done an article on him Ando.

09 Aug 2024 17:59:41
Apparently we've enquired about Shlupp from Crystal Palace. Versatile player who can play LB. In to his final year of his contract too.

DontLookBackInAnge

1.) 09 Aug 2024 23:06:23
Enquired?? We all know how that will end.

2.) 10 Aug 2024 13:54:00
Exactly.

14 May 2024 00:22:02
Hi Ed, not sure if someone's already posted it or you've discussed it on the podcast but is there any truth Celtic are in talks with two top 6 pub league teams about selling O'Riley before the Euros? I expect him to move on in the summer and maybe they're trying to cash in early to fund a rebuild on the first team?

DontLookBackInAnge

{Ed007's Note - Matt O’Riley is being watched by Manchester United and Bournemouth. Prior interest of Leeds and Fulham will go nowhere. Borussia Dortmund sent scouts but have identified a preferred option. Atletico Madrid may return with an offer to buy the player in the summer and should not be discounted.

1.) 14 May 2024 23:19:30
If that's his options at present n age he is, surely got to discount Bournemouth n Fulham regardless of EPL status, tiny clubs compared to us, no history, non comparable fan base. Leeds/ Norwich having a laugh. AM maybe, different lifestyle, big club, .
MUtd, possibly but right club, wrong time with everything going on there.
He seems an intelligent lad who may not be swayed by first big wage offer, wouldn't b surprised to see him foranother 6-12 months then go.

Happy transfer deadline day Ed. Not been as stressful for you this window I bet.

DontLookBackInAnge

{Ed007's Note - Whiny ass bitches only have about 30 days to be whiny ass bitches and work themselves into a petted lip frenzy. ?

1.) 03 Feb 2025 13:01:54
Quoted like Shakespeare ?.

{Ed007's Note - ???

2.) 03 Feb 2025 13:05:52
The squads in good shape. A little light in some areas but there's still cover within the squad for now as the leagues nearly wrapped up. That won't please everyone though. It's the summer that will do your box in ?.

{Ed007's Note - I think Kyogo leaving has put a spanner in the works and to be fair with the money we have sitting in the bank, the CL money and the £ from player sales fans have a right to be upset that things take so long and will be well within their right to be fuming if the window closes and we have a weaker squad - which we have right at this moment imo - or it's a couple of last gasp desperate loans.
If Taylor has told the Club he is leaving come the summer and even with Hob Nob Hips coming in we'll still need a back-up LB, why not identify him and try and get him in during the window, let him get settled in and some game time? But that's far too sensible for Celtic guess!}

3.) 03 Feb 2025 14:19:55
As much as I'd like to, I can't disagree with you Ed ? even given your latest dig at my bhoy KT ? ? ?

The board are sitting on a fortune, numbers that Carol Vorderman would struggle with.

LB, Winger, CB (x2) and Striker will need to be addressed / signed in the summer, IMO.

☘️ ? ☘️.

4.) 03 Feb 2025 14:51:56
Spot on pedro even the fact u mentioned Carol Vorderman ?.

5.) 03 Feb 2025 15:28:40
Ed, we've been saying that for the last few transfer windows. The way I see it is that there are two "Celtic means" of operating in transfer windows.

1/ Development squad: Identify young players for development and upgrade the current squad.

2/ Wait until the final minutes and see what we can do through our and the selling clubs' despeartion.

We know what's needed - the Board presumably know what's needed but they are pig-headed and reluctant to spend unless they absolutely have to.

6.) 03 Feb 2025 17:05:09
The fact that there seems to be very little transfer business before today in England for example, I think club should concentrate on two positions that have weakened in the window . To try to widen the search to cover various positions on team winger and 2 cbs is going over the top and shopping in a limited market Why not shop for the less urgent position in the vast open summer market when many players are traded in most leagues.

7.) 03 Feb 2025 17:58:57
ED mentioned a back up LB but I think we already had him in the building in Valle.
I'm still stunned we let the boy go.

8.) 03 Feb 2025 21:54:06
That's too much forward planning Ed. Planning and the board don't go in the same sentence. We are baring the fruits of those months of hard work we was told they was doing since the summer window closed. Kvistgaarden has been liked for years, Tierney and Jota are former players and Schlupp previously worked under Rodgers, again we was linked with him a window or two ago. As you call him Dr Football or whatever it is doesn't seem to have done anything. If we have the money in the bank why wait until the summer for another LB when they could've came in now and settled in. The ST situation looks like a non goer at the minute too. The squad has enough to get over the line in the league but a treble would top it off. Would have thought Pleat may have had a few players he could've recommended when coming in.

{Ed007's Note - Schlupp left Leicester for Crystal Palace in January 2017, 18 months before Rodgers took over there but I get your points and totally agree ????

01 Oct 2024 22:04:37
Absolutely embarrassing. Constantly gave the ball away in criminal areas pure schoolboy defending. We must concede more goals than anyone in Europe with deflections or getting a toe in that tees them up for easy finishes. We never defend the 2nd ball well. Dortmund didn't look great at the back themselves and we should've punished them with a few more goals. Our midfield was anonymous most of the game and barely put in a tackle. I get we're a front foot team and only know one way of playing but we shouldn't be conceding sixes and sevens, we need to be better organised and tougher to beat.

DontLookBackInAnge

1.) 01 Oct 2024 23:03:31
As bad as tonight was a bit of perspective required. We are playing teams worth hundreds of millions who play high calibre teams on a weekly basis. Our campaign is based on reaching the last 16 and anyone who thinks differently should give up watching as they don’t understand football.

The manager needs to be more defensive in the remaining away games and arguably also at home v Leipzig. The other games we play the same style that battered Slovan. I still think we will qualify however lessons must be learned.

Some players have proven they are out their depth such as Taylor and as unpopular as it will be on here Scales.

They need upgraded and Valle should now be given a run.

2.) 01 Oct 2024 23:07:42
Tonight was only our 2nd defeat since December last year but what a terrible performance all over the pitch.

Hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Sunday before another International break.

3.) 01 Oct 2024 23:46:48
His organisation is very poor at that level, another embarrassing performance in Europe.

4.) 01 Oct 2024 23:53:07
Lessons are not being learned though are they? It happens all the time under Rodgers and same when he was with Liverpool, He does not know how to play in Europe.

5.) 02 Oct 2024 07:07:18
You cannot go toe to toe with these teams in Europe. You have to play more defensively or else last night will happen more often than not.

We can play offensively in SPL because we are better than the other teams but not in Europe

It was a bad night all round, no one got pass marks including BR.

We moved in and hopefully learn.

We really need defensive upgrades. I have said it before, spend good money here we need it, in defence.

6.) 02 Oct 2024 07:14:24
Our race is not determined against the likes of Dortmund, or other elite teams. Our race is to move up a level and possibly qualify. Those teams have got their eye on winning it, we simply cannot. But in sayin that we have to compete better. We are exactly where we would have wanted 3 points after 2 games. Onto the next one.

7.) 02 Oct 2024 08:43:45
Yes and another pasting v Atalanta! Does anyone think otherwise?

8.) 02 Oct 2024 14:41:25
Unless we change tactics, it I'll be another pasting. We cannot play 3 up front against better teams. Even some of their players said they couldn't believe how we set up.

Happy transfer deadline day Ed. Only 13 more hours to endure before you can get your sanity back ?.

{Ed007's Note - I seriously can NOT wait!

1.) 30 Aug 2024 12:09:00
Is there a Pod for deadline day Ed?

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate, just trying to decide whether to start at 7 or the usual 6:30....

2.) 30 Aug 2024 12:22:30
Think 7 might be a shout since you’re more likely to get deals in later in the evening. I’m hoping for a quad signing reveal tonight ?.

3.) 30 Aug 2024 12:26:54
Ed be like the club, leave it to the last minute 7pm and blow the participants heads. ?.

{Ed007's Note - ??

4.) 30 Aug 2024 12:35:43
I sit refreshing every 5 minutes hoping for a surprise update but usually it ends in disappointment ? Surely we've outdone ourselves this window and it's got to be up there as one of your more frustrating windows on this forum? ?.

{Ed007's Note - It's up there with the Eddie Howe one but all of them seriously pi$$ me off, I used to look forward to it ssooo much too - ya shower of bassas! ?

5.) 30 Aug 2024 12:49:22
I used to take every transfer deadline day off of work as I used to live the last min signings but as I have got older now I can't be bothered eating a holiday now. I just wait till work is really busy and stuck my hols in lol.

{Ed007's Note - I couldn't tell you the last time I even put SSN on never mind sitting there watching it all day on transfer deadline day.}

6.) 30 Aug 2024 16:11:00
You will be glad the board got people in as the forum would have been full of rage otherwise
?.

{Ed007's Note - ??

7.) 30 Aug 2024 16:39:18
Sky Sports deadline day has wrongly mentioned at the bottom of their page, that both England and Scotland transfer windows close at 11pm.

Scottish doesn’t close until 11.30pm.
It was previously one hour after the English but now it’s only 30 minutes later.

26 Aug 2024 10:30:37
Big week ahead for us Bhoys. Woke up and read all the rumours ahead of Friday's deadline day. CL draw Thursday and a beautiful Sunday to look forward too. My biggest concern, along with the rest of us is that it's took so long for movement to happen. I'd have liked a few of these in and settled by now ready for Sundays game. Especially after losing our most influential player. Big chance to open up a 5 point gap hopefully some of the signings can contribute to a bunskelping.

DontLookBackInAnge

1.) 26 Aug 2024 12:11:02
Av been frustrated like most of fans with the pace our board are moving towards signings, but a think if the nee signings evn came in a few wks ago a think BR will start with his tried and trusted from start and Evn Idah a think will b on bench.

17 Aug 2024 12:00:43
In terms of our squad and current rumours floating about would people be happy if the window closed and we managed to move on Largerbielke, Kobayashi and got in O'Shea. Got in Wijndal/ Beck. Kept MoR and signed McCowan and Mejbri on loan with Iwata and Holm going out on loan. Sold MJ and loaned out Yang and got in Skov? All are likely not going to happen in 13 days but if the rumoured players was to sign that would be a great window for us. Isn't exactly asking the board to push the boat out and the outgoings would pay for the incoming players. 2 fees, a free transfer and 2 loans.

DontLookBackInAnge

1.) 17 Aug 2024 12:29:13
I would be happy with that but Rodgers is saying 1-2 more.

2.) 17 Aug 2024 12:51:58
I'd like Skov in on a free. Can cover the wing and Hatates position. Brings goals, assists and can take good free kicks/ penalties. We definitely need LCB and LB. Mejbri/ McCowan aren't really a priority.

3.) 17 Aug 2024 13:01:44
If nobody buys mctominay a cheeky loan bid last day of the window.

4.) 17 Aug 2024 13:28:43
I still think the Board will get the offer for MOR, they are holding out for and if he agrees to move, there's no reason that most of the above permutations could work - time and agreement permitting - as the cash is there. This is a great opportunity for our Board to back BR with the quality he wanted to progress the team forward and as well as cementing domestic dominance, we can improve in Europe.

5.) 17 Aug 2024 13:44:16
A would rather have that dream than me n megan fox stranded on a dessert island ??‍♂️.

6.) 17 Aug 2024 13:52:20
Not McGowan or Medjri neither good enough. McGowan stands out in a poor team and Medjri would be a risk. Engel or Tessman are better player imo.

7.) 17 Aug 2024 14:15:42
Squad isn't a million miles away. LB, LCB and maybe an established player or 2 on loan and we are in good shape for the season.

8.) 17 Aug 2024 14:48:02
Don't think we've a chance in hell of getting oshea he's much sought after.

9.) 17 Aug 2024 17:20:48
Who else out of interested teams can offer him CL. Also he doesn't need to go to any of them to get a shot at bigger club, we are a huge club with huge window for him to show off his talents.

{Ed007's Note - Atalanta are in this years CL, MIP.}

Not for me. He wanted to leave and give himself a chance to force his way into Japan's world cup squad apparently. That's since failed miserably so he won't be welcomed back with open arms. He's the wrong side of 30 too. There are better options out there that will benefit the club in the long term.

I would rather have Maeda as back up until the summer than Iheanacho. Just goes to show Jan is a hard window to do business in. Obviously being priced out of a move for Kvistgaarden if the £13.5m rumours are true. So much for all the restructuring of tue scouting department. We had one striker who has been linked for years, the board won't pay his fee so Brendan has probably suggested Iheanacho similar to the Hart/ Kasper situation.

Brendan hit the nail on the head today after the match. Some people wanting an easy game. Now that the league has been virtually wrapped up since Christmas a lot of games have been flat and lacking the tempo and urgency they had at the beginning of the season. Not the professionalism needed at a big club.

Every squad needs refreshing to stay competitive and we didn't get that desired freshness in during the January window. I'd give Idah another season to rediscover some form. I'd add Kuhn to that list though as he's been bang average since apparently wanting away after half a good season. Move on the loan boys too.

They won't have sh*t loads of money to throw at anything that's not how it works. As I believe you was allowed to spend around 85% of income on players, wages and agent fees that now goes down to 70% as of next season. Using their last accounts as a rough guide their wage bill wasnt far off that 70% so they'll need to make cuts, get more lucrative sponsorships and sell their dross for decent money to be able to throw any decent money at players.

That is just the nature of our business model. Each player will have their own cycle before being moved on to the benefit of the club and some or most of that reinvested back into the squad.
