Anyone know anything about slotsager? Apparently linked with the young CB probably on pre-contract Danish u21, never heard of him, we stopped tracking the young Norwegian winger I presume with Jota coming in?
1.) 28 Jan 2025 00:25:11
Saw Slotslager's name on KDS last night which was the first I'd seen it mentioned anywhere.
2.) 28 Jan 2025 08:39:07
A mate was on about it being on Sky Sports News yesterday, if that gives it any more credence. Girona also reportedly interested.
3.) 28 Jan 2025 17:22:08
I've watched quite a few videos of Slotslager and he looks very decent for his age. Tall, quick and a lanky type and at only 19yo his development will surely progress. I always take these videos with a pinch of salt because it's a highlight reel of good things but I think theirs a player there.
04 Jan 2025 10:08:47
Any truth in Leverkusen tracking Carter-Vickers Ed?
{Ed007's Note - There's loads of teams sniffing around CCV but he won't be going anywhere in this window.}
1.) 04 Jan 2025 19:15:47
He's the only proper decent centre back we have at the club and I appreciate that's not that difficult with what we have, but it's an area where we need to add rather than sell.
2.) 05 Jan 2025 08:53:20
Trusty is a decent defender and was hard done by in the final. He was left exposed by Taylor and seemed to get the blame.
16 Jun 2024 18:54:22
Ed did we not try to sign Dominik Livaković last summer but he ended up signing for Fenerbache for €6.5m?
Would seem strange that they would sell so quickly after 1 season, he's on €51k per week.
Surely just a lazy journo plucking old transfer targets out of the "never tried to buy them" vault.
{Ed007's Note - Turkey is notoriously difficult for players to settle in, I said last summer when Livakovic joined Fenerbahce that he would be looking for a move come this summer.
If he is available I don't see why Celtic wouldn't reignite their interest in him.}
13 Apr 2024 21:10:34
Ed or anyone in the know, have we got a global scouting network or was the lads from Japan mainly on the back of Ange knowing the market? Do they use scouting agents or actively scout abroad with their own staff?
The quality of hetate and kyogo makes me baffled that we haven't further invested in that market, ideguchi and yogi didn't work I know but maeda has defintely passed the mark, iwata is decent and will get better.
Matsuki FC Tokyo CM looks like he has a bright future, Assists and distance covered very encouraging so far.
{Ed002's Note - It was largely down to Ange Postecoglou and the recruitment of Mark Lawell and Joe Dudgeon from Manchester City.}
1.) 15 Apr 2024 14:37:12
Ed002, can you elaborate on what involvement Joe Dudgeon had in those transfers because the accepted narrative up here is pretty much that Ange pinpointed Kyogo, Maeda, Ideguchi, Hatate and Iwata himself. Kobayashi, not so much.
02 Jul 2023 12:30:34
Linked with 21yr old Swiss Fabian Reider, what a signing he would be!
1.) 02 Jul 2023 12:47:15
Lots of interest in him. but we've gotvthe money let's make a statement.
2.) 02 Jul 2023 13:08:48
Reider and or Jashari would be statement signings but I'm not sure we'll start to see these types unless we are definitely moving on Hatate or oriely.
3.) 02 Jul 2023 13:41:23
Fabians rieder would be signing of the season. He's been outstanding for young boys. Also the man city kid we are supposedly linked with can't remember his name has ridiculous stats for the u21 though something like 4 hatricks. Sorry minds went a blank.
4.) 02 Jul 2023 14:36:29
Is it borges?
5.) 02 Jul 2023 15:19:10
Cheers Mally that's the lad mate?.
6.) 02 Jul 2023 22:40:40
Would love to see Rieder in the hoops, seen a couple of the games he played in for young boys and he was outstanding.
7.) 03 Jul 2023 15:38:37
Reider and or Jashari look great, even though we could buy them I doubt they would come to the SPFL with the interest from clubs in real leagues. Hopefully CL participation can sway it. Plus, they know they only need to be here two seasons before they can move on. Just wish we would get them in fast, whoever they are.

I was trying to look at our profit margins this season from player sales alone, we've spent apparently
€43.4m on arrivals and recouped €56.18m!
The recouped money however doesn't include the money received for Vata, Lawall, Kobayashi, Siegrist, kelly, which would surely add another say €6m.
That's surely in this final window €12m to recruit players in before that window shuts, that's simply balancing the books on player trade due to the enormous returns we've had off CL this season that can go into the club.
We are certainly weaker for making a profit on sales, but 12m in the not so distant past has got us a
1. MAEDA €1.9
2. JOHNSTON €3.5m
3. HETATE €1.7m
4. KYOGO €5.3
Total €12.4m
The recruitment team should get their finger out, these type of players are out there, and you don't have to pay inflated prices all the time like we have recently.
1.) 01 Feb 2025 08:10:33
Frimpong
Jota
Ccv
Bernardo
Eddy
I’m sure there’s more, where is our loan to buy starlet from one of the so called big guns u21 squads . This model seen us do well, alongside data driven transfers, is it not that easy or am I missing something,
2.) 01 Feb 2025 08:25:19
My thoughts exactly, the only thing that's changed is our manager, however he talks about this model all the time as though he believes in it, so for me it's strange we haven't continued with it, time still left in the window, and my maths there was horrendous as I didn't add the final €6m from the other sales so that would make it €18m to play with, CDM, Winger, Striker, LB, we need to strengthen and buy smart once again!
I think it's a risk spending the larger amounts because it's not as if that is giving us much success, plenty players in similar leagues for cheap fees even in a winter window!
3.) 01 Feb 2025 10:54:35
With very little time remaining it would be some effort getting the players we need, but the time factor gives The Board excuses to fail.
4.) 01 Feb 2025 11:07:40
aw is that us now back to wanting to buy cheap projects. it was get the money spent now its don't spend to much on a player hese to dear.
5.) 01 Feb 2025 12:11:09
This board has no excuse whatsoever. It’s called succession planning, something they continually fail to do. Don’t know if it’s incompetence, arrogance, ignorance or just plain contempt for its paying public.
6.) 01 Feb 2025 13:35:41
Why have we such an interest in the club’s finances
As mere supporters and shareholders we don’t have the fine details of all our financial transactions. We know we are currently in a very sound financial position but we haven’t got a clear picture how we intend to finance future known and unknown projects.
After decades of continuous complaining about Board not increasing individual price of new players above 1990’s standards. Now complaint is about over spending, this comes about re players in their first 6 mths, maybe we should remember a player isn’t bought for 6 mths but on a 4/ 5 yr contract.
7.) 01 Feb 2025 20:01:05
Oh right let's have zero interest in club finances wee des, act like a real champions league team, spend millions upon millions on "proven" players, act the big un, don't qualify, crumble financially like the mob have done, and try rebuild from the bottom up! Are you for real? We should have an interest on what we as fans bring into the club to allow the club to financially compete at a level to dominate domestically to then earn the money from the CL opportunities!
I have never said we "need" to buy a higher calibre of player because we simply can't afford the inflated prices of leagues more wealthy than our own! We should however act smart, as we have done in the past, and invest as we move forward, and if that is at no detrimental financial burden to income by only sacrificing funds already gained from sales of our "best" players then I once again say we should be investing, and not on one or two, but a few, as that has more chance of progression and profit, for every inflated sale we have, we also have a few not work out, to sacrifice more on few is risky to say the least.
But again wee des I'm sure your right, let the board play their game and leave everything again to the last minute.
8.) 02 Feb 2025 00:56:16
Turner, what I tried to say is that when we talk about over paying for a player or the opposite not spending on players we have a £100m hanging and the Board won’t spend it . We are talking with very limited knowledge. We don’t know how this so called over- payment for a player is structured. We haven’t a notion about his wages . The £10m fee may only become reality if he makes x appearances over next 3 seasons, if not the fee maybe half . We simply don’t know . People are doing the maths and adding up little more than guesses for figures . As for Boards plans for this £100m burning everyone’s figures we don’t know how much they have allocated for the different projects started and of course we don’t know how much Board has allocated for projected they haven’t announced.
How should the club invest, are you thinking of stocks and shares, risky especially with Mr Trump in USA . When I was in Finance the experts told us invest in Buildings for the safest investment possible . The Financial crash destroyed buildings as an. Investment, I believe they are still below the crash level .
Everything is easy when we are not investing our own money . 75 % of retired EPL footballers wouldn’t be bankrupt or facing bankruptcy if they had been advised to invest . Without wanting to praise the Board and particularly if they get a striker and a left back, I would suggest they shouldn’t vary far from what they have done recently.
Winning doubles and trebles and this season qualifying for knock champions League playing against 3/ 4 of the top teams in Europe and only getting smashed once is not bad.
9.) 02 Feb 2025 08:41:51
5m for berni just about payed for jota then the 10m for Kyogo, there's no excuse for not siging the players the manager wants we're cash rich and if this window comes and goes without the necessary players coming in there will be questions asked.
10.) 02 Feb 2025 12:56:44
Top of the league, Champions league football AFTER XMAS, possible treble and guess what. The whingers are out and about.
16 Jan 2025 07:41:15
Eric Martel of FC Koln would be an excellent option as CDM who can also play CB and CM, capped for Germany at youth levels up to u21, contract ends summer 2026, has a €5m euro release clause, ideal player to get in and learn from our captain!
1.) 16 Jan 2025 09:48:42
Learn what from our captain?
2.) 16 Jan 2025 10:53:12
Are you actually emplying there would be nothing to learn from our captain? Please let me hear this utter nonsense your about to blurt out, I'll get the popcorn out!
3.) 16 Jan 2025 11:59:43
I never said that, I asked learn what from out captain. It's a simple question. I was confused by the way you worded you post because you made it seem like he would learn how to play as a cdm from mcgregor?
4.) 16 Jan 2025 16:46:48
Dictate play, control games, drive play forward from the back, values of playing for our club, how to prepare yourself mentally and physically for the game in scotland, you come into any club as a young player and you should take not of succesful players and what gives them longevity to perform at a level on a consistent basis, if you walk into a club young full of arrogance the pressure ends up swallowing a young lad up, you should always be learning and developing.
5.) 16 Jan 2025 17:15:41
Agree with most of it turner not on the dictate play, control games and drive play forward aspect though. I think calmac is capable domestically but struggles in europe or when a team is very aggressive with the high press etc and if we want to improve we need better players in the position we want mcgregor to play.
I have to admit I haven't seen much of Martel do you think he could develop into the type of player that could do that in europe for us mate?
6.) 16 Jan 2025 20:28:13
Mc Gregor is carrying out BR’s game plan on pitch . He dictates the pace we play at, when we pressurise high up pitch and when team take a breather by passing around the back . Celtic can certainly play without him controlling our game on occasions, but for the most part BR depends completely on Cal, he can trust Mc G and Cal has total faith in BR.
7.) 17 Jan 2025 07:51:40
Martel is highly rated in Germany, young, versatile, and for €5m euros looks an absolute bargain, certainly no finished article but a finished article costs well above our budget unless you have been lucky purchasing from a league not often pursued!
If we persuaded a talent like Engels to join then I would say it should be easier to persuade him to come.
I agree as above Mcgregor isn't a natural CDM but let's face it he has bossed it for us majority of the time, yes CL level is questionable but reality is can we afford the elite level player, absolutely not, which is why they must be bought young.
07 Jan 2025 21:16:55
Would Cameron of Dundee be worth a pre-contract signing? He's one of the standouts in the league and at that age surely worth a gamble.
1.) 07 Jan 2025 21:39:03
Heard he's going to Govan.
2.) 08 Jan 2025 15:11:44
Where would they get £500k training payment, to pay Dundee.
01 Oct 2024 21:48:01
On a serious note under the consumers rights act can we get a refund on the purchase of Trusty based on the fact he can't defend when he was sold on the basis of being classed as a defender? This may hold up in a court of law surely, it's worth a try ?.
1.) 01 Oct 2024 22:05:20
Get real, it’s his third game for us. Scales was our best player tonight so that gives a bit of context. They were way quicker than us in every department and we were very sloppy with our passing. The first two goals we could consider ourselves unfortunate, the last three were Celtic assisted. The reality is that some teams are going to be a level above us. We move on.
2.) 01 Oct 2024 22:12:56
You actually defending that? 6m he's pish.
3.) 01 Oct 2024 22:42:23
Anyone that had seen trusty play before would have known how average a player he is. He might do a job for us domestically but will get found out in europe.
{Ed007's Note - Well that's a better rating than CCV had when we signed him, people said he would struggle domestically and after 2 seasons we still haven't seen enough of him at CL level to know if he can step up.}
4.) 01 Oct 2024 22:49:32
So were most of the others hence the result!
5.) 01 Oct 2024 23:07:38
I'd say ccv was more rated than trusty by anyone that had watched them.
24 Aug 2024 09:11:01
Will we sign a LCB, LB, AMC and CF/ LW (Maeda option CF) or will we unveil a 4th strip before deadline day, white and green hoops with pound signs embroidered in the background ?? come on celtic pull your finger out, the first two positions should be in the door, my worrying feeling is they will stick with CCV, SCALES, NAWROCKI and WELSH, Nawrocki needs a season loan to get up to speed.
1.) 24 Aug 2024 11:04:59
then he shood go tae "wee pats loan shoap sarry st " wher we kin accomudate him over 5 years with 200% intrest tae am writin up the papurwurk noo waitin oan him comin doon ( hiz he goat a motur?
01 Feb 2025 20:06:28
I was being educated by a gentleman who had a son in a former celtic youth age group, same as MJ, and his son after being released never continued as leaving celtic would be a step down!
BR example of cal mac as Ed posted above is a true reflection of many young players, especially with social media and pushy parents, they think they are at a level before they earn that right!
If financially they are offered more lucrative deals its hard to argue, we all want a better paid job, but many will leave thinking the pathway is better, those that do I would say aren't as interested in our club, therefore no need to worry, let them go, keep the ones who want to earn the right to play.
12 Jan 2025 15:52:44
Brownhill is wanted by West Ham, Sunderland and Sheff Utd, not sure we would pay him near the £45k per week he's currently on.
27 Aug 2024 13:49:36
Or a near on straight swap with trusty coming the other way.
24 Aug 2024 23:15:50
A football agent gets paid to broker the best financial package available to their client in the market, a financial adviser cannot be paid commission only charge for the service provided regardless of the transaction sum, how the feck is this still allowed, the football governance is so corrupt, while trying to chill in lanzarote awaiting some upbeat news about incoming the clone of mine has just informed me fabrizio Romano will be on the new FC25 game announcing transfers! Everything is a scam!
19 Aug 2024 16:31:49
Have MK dons got a sell on fee if he goes?
01 Feb 2025 20:01:05

Gerry let's get this right, the club have allowed him to leave, while under contract, while still involved in the biggest European competition, it's as if the board have said we have met our targets he can leave let's not be too ambitious, and oh let's not worry about replacing him the gap is huge in the league.
Months apparently they new about this, years they've had plenty cash, so why isn't another striker through the door?
We have Idah and he needs to start firing, he signed to have this chance, his run of games now looks obvious as to why! We have young kenny who don't forget has done good on loan, he needs a chance also, but we need another, Jota softens the blow but he won't be anywhere near game ready and also he isn't the quickest.
Let's hope we do have another striker lined up, but I just don't think the club want to keep spending especially if Jota comes in for 8m.
24 Jan 2025 17:19:51
This is typical though, should of defintely had someone in the door it seems that it will be a make do signing probably coming in the door.
24 Jan 2025 07:27:19
CCV moving is ine inevitable and we will earn a tidy sum for him, it's same with hetate, maeda and Khun, won't keep them around forever, it's our recent purchases that are failing to live up to the hype and that's a worry from the recruitment side.
