I was reading an article from a Dutch journalist talking about the Volendam centre-back Xavier Mbuyamba's potential transfer. It says in the article that if we do not go after Mbuyamba that we will look to AZ Alkmaar defender Pantelis Hatzidiakos. Thought it would be worth a mention as it was a name I hadn't heard of.

He's another good CB sosBhoy but I don't think we need another unless we move on scales, Welsh and Kobayashi. Iwata can cover there too. That's my thoughts anyway ?.

Seen a leaked image of the potential new home kit. I don't wear football tops but it looks retro AF. Like the kits of the Olden days.

Yeah, I think they are trying to hark back to the days before commercialism. I quite like it to be honest, but will depend on the Dafabet logo.

2.) 27 Apr 2023 15:18:30
I like it looks retro But I don't like the badge It looks faded and washed out.

Juranovic to Union Berlin? Seems like a weird move. It's not the step up I thought he would leave us for. Good league and decent team but not exactly inspiring.

SoSBhOy

1.) 21 Jan 2023 00:09:51
If he's leaving Celtic then we don't need to be too concerned about his future progression. If the fee is right (£7.5m + add ons) then that's not bad business for us. I had hoped he would go for much more but as Ed007 mentioned before, there may be contractual clauses that give him the upper hand in the deal. If the move happens I wish him well. HH.

2.) 21 Jan 2023 11:14:31
Good business. AJ has shown already he's more accomplished in the inverted FB Angeball role and is quicker and likes a tackle. He'll be a much more consistent player than JJ, who really only had a few excellent games for us. The rest were decent or poor.

Hi Ed, do you know if we have interest in Christopher Scott from Bayern? There were articles earlier in the year and I was wondering if there is actual interest or just media noise? Thanks.

SoSBhOy

{Ed037's Note - Celtic have been looking at Christopher Scott throughout the season. Interesting thing about Scott is he is free to leave , I believe he is a free agent now. There has been no approach at the moment from Celtic from what I can see. I don't see this happening if I'm honest SoSBhoy. But never say never. Plenty of interest from other Clubs from Spain and France

1.) 04 Jun 2022 19:36:54
Its now looking that this deal is now close. He is still under contract at Bayern as they activated an extension to his contract. Celtic are closing in on a deal worth £250,000.

2.) 04 Jun 2022 21:52:57
Saw that to Paul.

3.) 04 Jun 2022 22:01:04
Never heard of the lad, but then again I'd never heard of Larsson or Lubo before they signed for us. HH.

We are being linked with a 20 year old defender from Ajax Cape Town, South Africa. Ricardo Coetzee, boy has 16 full caps for South Africa and 90 club appearances in the top devision of SA football.

Ed do you have any idea why the club aren't speaking to Taylor about a new deal? Seems odd to be letting his contract run into the final 10 months when he has be a consistent player for years.

SoSBhOy

{Ed007's Note - I'm a big Greg Taylor fan but imo he is at a bit of a crossroads in his career this window. If as is expected we bring in a new LB to replace him would GT be happy to be a No.2, even if it's a younger player to be GT's understudy he will know that maybe next season (25/26) or 2 he will lose his place so why sign a five-year deal?
I said on the podcast I wouldn't be at all surprised if GT left Celtic this summer if the contract situation isn't even mooted . I thought this was pretty telling from GT's interview:

"I’m at an age where I want to be playing regular football, I want to be playing every week, I want to be competing for the trophies. I hope there’s a lot of growth in me yet and a lot of enjoyable times in the years to come."

1.) 24 Jul 2024 12:32:13
Totally underestimated player. Gives his all every week. He has weaknesses but has drive and determination.

{Ed007's Note -????

2.) 24 Jul 2024 12:32:36
BR did say he wanted him to stay but I am not sure he will be fist pick if we get someone new in, so if he isn't guaranteed a regular start he will be off.

He has been one of our more consitant players but against crosses and in Europe, he does struggle. I would like him to stay but would like an upgrade, which I know doesn't make sense.

{Ed007's Note - That's how I feel too ?

3.) 24 Jul 2024 12:38:40
Hope signs on again he's better than he gets credit for.

4.) 24 Jul 2024 15:06:02
Taylor gets a lot of unnessesary flak from sections of the support but he is a very solid player domestically and rarely let's us down.
Problem with taylor is his lack of aerial ability and gets beaten too easy against better opposition.
I think its probably best for every party for taylor to move on this window as we do need to bring in a better LB going forward and if we are being honest he is too good to play back up. he's a step up from ralston, hence why ralston will probably see out his days as our no2 RB.
Taylor is good enough to go play at a decent level probably for more money in the likes of the English Championship.
Hes just short on a bit of pace and better awareness at the back post from being a top LB.

5.) 24 Jul 2024 15:44:07
Nobody can question his effort belbhoy but those weaknesses you mentioned get exploited against better opposition. Plus, he's our only recognised LB so so it's definitely an area we'd be looking at anyway. He's probably too good to be a bench warmer though.

6.) 24 Jul 2024 16:16:50
As long as the plan isn’t to bring in KT on a loan as good as he is we can’t rely on him with his fitness . Unfortunately it looks like too many games, playing through injuries and getting munched every week in Scotland when he broke through has taken a toll on him.

7.) 24 Jul 2024 19:19:09
Taylor is a dependable LB probably the same as ralston in terms of domestic success can’t be faulted most games but if we want to improve then a new LB is a must. if Taylor was happy to play second fiddle get 1/ 2 hour and deputise when injury’s occurred like ralston has then I’d sign him up for another few years.

8.) 24 Jul 2024 19:43:37
I also would like an upgrade but Taylor has done an excellent job for us. I understand Taylor wants to be first choice, but when there has been competition he has played at his best. But why aren’t the club in a dialogue with his agent? Surely we can’t be letting a good 26 year old player worth £4/ 5M leave for free. It’s hardly a gamble considering he has been so consistent.

9.) 25 Jul 2024 14:18:11
How do we know that our Board have not been trying to set up talks with Taylor’s agent . They are hardly going to announce now, that they haven’t been able to set up talks with him .
Talks could be progressing without us knowing either.

Got to say I wasn't over awed by the signing of KS but with also signing Sinisalo it is some brilliant recruitment from the club. To sign such an exciting prospect of a keeper and have an old head for a year to take the pressure off and for him to learn from is some excellent recruitment.

From what I've seen from Sinsalo he looks an excellent shot stopper and sweeper keeper, like the way Hart played for us.

SoSBhOy

1.) 15 Jul 2024 22:13:53
I agree 100% mate. I wasnt overly impressed with the signing of KS as no1 but if we are bringing the young Villa keeper in to challenge KS while he's here then fair play to the club. Having KS with his experience to take the pressure off the younger GK is a great idea. If we bring both in id expect KS to be No1 for the season with sinisalo to become long term no1. Send tobi out on loan again with bain 3rd choice.
If that's what the clubs aim is im all for it, gread business if it comes off.

I just read an interview with Luis Palma in Honduras. He comes across humble, grateful and honest. Speaking about his down turn in form and his determination to succeed at our club. No talk of further ambitions just succeeding at Celtic. With Palma's talent and virtues he will succeed at our club.

SoSBhOy

1.) 03 Jul 2024 10:24:50
I thought Palma was really good the first third of last season, it seemed to be when the cold weather arrived his form went off a cliff.

2.) 03 Jul 2024 11:15:00
I like palma and although was poor at times last season i don't think he gets used properly. Other than oriley he contributed to more goals than anyone else.
He is not a winger and should be used centrally behind the striker.
He obviously has a lot to still work on but if he keeps his head down he will be a big player for us.

3.) 03 Jul 2024 13:31:19
Royac73, a bit like all of us in this country irrespective of age - lived here all our life and still don't know how to handle it.

4.) 03 Jul 2024 13:34:25
Palma has played a total of 36 games for Celtic and has an impressive 20 goals/ assists.
( 10 goals and also 10 assists )

Palma has only played the full 90 minutes on 4 occasions for Celtic and he scored a total of 6 goals in those matches.
( scoring in every game )

5.) 03 Jul 2024 14:35:44
He can be a massive player for us. I’d say he is a left winger but needs to split hits runs more going down the outside. With good coaching his decision making will improve.

10 Jun 2024 15:05:00
Ed do you have any information on was the situation is with Odin Holm? Has he had a long term injury? The boy has bags of potential and thought we would have seen more of him.

SoSBhOy

{Ed007's Note - It's a bit of a mystery what's went on or is going on with Holm, he's not been injured, he's not been playing for the B Team and I didn't notice him at the league or cup celebrations (did anyone else?) so the last I heard of him he was driving about Monte Carlo in a big snazzy car at the beginning of April.
Someone suggested to me the other week that I was over reacting and that the plan all along was that he would just be in about the squad/training this season and he will go out on loan next season and become part of the first team squad the following year, I'm not so sure about that myself.}

1.) 10 Jun 2024 20:11:43
I thought at one time that BR had told him he was free to go where ever he wanted . I saw him playing an under age game against Ireland and he seemed very disinterested. But he was in a Celtic club suit at one of the celebrations at the end of the season, so he must still have some link .
His time at Celtic got off to a very bad start, within a couple of mins of starting in Europe he was red carded.

2.) 10 Jun 2024 20:55:31
Attitude and discipline issues I'm sure I read somewhere.

3.) 11 Jun 2024 08:03:41
Holme, lagerbielke and Marowski all looked like guys with great potential but none of them have got near the first team as regulars. Surely it cannot be all about attitude.

Holme should have been in first team squad based on ability alone, so something isn't working in training or in the dressing room.

We cannot continue to bring in players with real potential and not improve them, is that not what BR has built his reputation on.

4.) 11 Jun 2024 11:09:48
Although I was very relieved and delighted we won the double, it still rankled with me that we did it with literally half a squad.
During the recent football famine, I've been watching highlights from many of our games over the past two years and how many players were involved and have since been frozen-out. Seems we obviously need to offload plenty before we look to spend on transfers and more wages.

5.) 11 Jun 2024 14:14:21
Thanks for the reply. Hopefully he will settle down and we can get him on a loan deal to build up his playing time. I’d love for more of our young players to get a full season of playing in the SPL.

{Ed007's Note - It's a strange one, personally I'll be surprised if Holm has any future at Celtic.}

6.) 12 Jun 2024 00:04:14
BR has a reputatIon of coaching and developing young players and bringing them onto be at least good club players . Brut just like the stable hand can bring a horse to water, he cannot make horse drink . Brendan can bring young players to his coaching sessions but he can’t improve them if they don’t want to learn . Maybe that’s the case with Lagerbeilke, Nawrocki and Holm we probably won’t have any of them next season, unless they have convinced BR that they really want to learn from him& become better players.

02 Feb 2024 20:22:38
Thinking forward to the summer transfer window and the approach the club will take.

We will sell Matt O'rielly for £25-£30m and will invest that amount in to the squad. £6m of that will be spent on Bernardo. In the January window we sold £3m worth of players and spent about the same on Kuhn

With player sales and wages saved the club will be £10m up minimum. Shrewd business but risk averse.

SoSBhOy

1.) 02 Feb 2024 21:08:52
I don’t understand how Celtic supporters seem to be hunting MO’R out of Celtic in summer, it’s bad enough vultures from rich leagues will come for him, but despite its likely that he leaves we should say nothing to encourage him, in fact as we win another SPL we should be encouraging him all we can to stay for Europe . We can ask Board to increase his wage and hope he might just stay .
If Matt decides to go he should show our gratitude for his time with us and the high skill level and work rate he brought to our team.

2.) 03 Feb 2024 00:13:53
I haven't seen anybody hunting him out, Chris. Just folk, including myself, acknowledging that clubs in better leagues will come for him and that MO'R has ambitions beyond us.

Seems like this has legs. I agree with pedro on this one. But I doubt KS would be signing not to be the number 1. Would be extremely disappointed by the lack of fore sight and planning.

If the club has a recruitment model of signing and developing players, why neglect doing the same with the GK position? I understand having experience but this would be short term and cheap.

lol I think that was another post praising Lawwel for the deal!

SoSBhOy

{Ed007's Note - Well if he's still running the show he's doing a great job just now, even better than he done when he was CEO. It's still a worry how Pedro will get into the SPFL board meetings to tell Nicholson what to say/do but I'm sure the Controller Emeritus of the Unseen Fenian Hand will have a cunning plan.}

Oh is an unusual one. He has never really had a chance or a run of games but in spite of this he has scored a goal every 109 minutes on average. Considering he has only started 7 games it’s not the worst reading. I hope he goes on to have an excellent career.

SoSBhOy

{Ed007's Note - He'll end up a £20m player in 2 years - I hope Daddy Lawell has included a sell-on clause ??

For our club to be continually growing we need to be speculating to accumulate. With an improved scouting network/ recruitment system the club will have more success within the player trading model.

Clubs like Brighton, sporting Lisbon, Benfica, Porto make massive amounts of money through the same model. With the right network in place the success rate of selling players on in the future for greater fees increases.

If the player trading model is ran successfully it would A) increase our annual profit.
B) we would make more money long term than the interest the money in the bank is making.

The part that concerns me is that there is a big meeting about transfer targets on the 24th of July. Surely these should be decided upon before the window opens. Unless many of our original targets are unavailable or Supprised options become available. The good thing about what BR has said is that he approves of who we are going after.
