Haksabanovic offski for €3m officially.
Well done to the CEO etc for getting anything for him at all!

Hopefully this will be the start of getting the players that are not part of Brendan Rodgers plans, it was mentioned on these pages a while ago that there were about 18 players who Celtic could move on, but it is not always a easy thing to do if the player is getting a good wage, without contributing anything as a player to the 1st team squad.

2.) 26 Jun 2024 18:46:50
First of many out the door that’s needed, still a long way to go though there’s about another 10 on the books that could be classed as deadwood.

3.) 27 Jun 2024 16:17:27
I agree the clear-out was very important to reduce the squad, get rid of players who are not in the managers plans and raising extra funds. The real test for the Board will be to bring in better quality than we have and improve the team for Europe and domestic dominance.

14 Jun 2024 19:09:18
Lad Mccowan meant to be coming in from Dundee. Have to say he impressed a lot last season!

Sort of signing we should be making. Certainly a player that improves the squad depth when we have so many games.

Different era but I remember Barry Robson and PAul Hartley doing great job not so long ago and both late 20s.

2.) 15 Jun 2024 14:09:50
Squad player at best. Would rather we went for watson baron or miller.

3.) 15 Jun 2024 14:23:35
Family are big Celtic fans. I went to Seville with his dad Paul. his 2 uncles n his Granda. If he has any choices, he'll pick Celtic all day long.

4.) 15 Jun 2024 17:45:38
DC, a squad player that was arguably the best outside of Celtic last season. If he improves the squad that’s all that matters.

5.) 15 Jun 2024 18:48:26
Agree to disagree kev. The 3 I mentioned were better imo.

6.) 16 Jun 2024 06:57:16
I would rather we got an effin move on. No players yet. I wonder if Lawell is involved, holding up a transfer over the price of a pint. It’s falling into the same pattern as always under his guidance. Nothing happening and wait for the son story of how no one wanted to come for a bag of shrapnel. I wonder what kind of bonus he gets if we don’t spend at all? Wouldn’t put anything past him. Dithering and dragging it out helps no one., .

7.) 16 Jun 2024 07:33:34
Magic, give it time, the window has just opened. Even Keevins is claiming we have a few agreed already but he hasn't been able to find out who.

Let's stop the PL nonsense already, Ed has explained many times his job title, it has nothing to do with the football side, that is Nicholson.

8.) 16 Jun 2024 09:00:36
Barron has been kicking about for about 5 years and he's never progressed.

9.) 16 Jun 2024 10:17:44
Malley Barron is only 21,remember him in the semi final? best player on the park, we'd be far better getting him than Mcgowan.

10.) 16 Jun 2024 11:01:43
Well he's been about the Aberdeen first team for a few years and never made the jump. you'd have thought the English would have been all over him if he was thecreal deal. good luck to the boy.

11.) 16 Jun 2024 11:13:46
He broke into their team 2 and a half year ago and only really became a 1st team regular this season. The potential is huge.

12.) 16 Jun 2024 11:49:51
Malley a couple of English clubs are in for him along with Italian clubs, probably his 15k wages putting us off.

13.) 16 Jun 2024 12:39:57
Do you not think there’s a reason we aren’t in for Barron? He’s not good enough simple.

14.) 16 Jun 2024 13:16:02
Far better player than McCowan ken.

15.) 16 Jun 2024 14:10:45
We should be aiming higher but I would prefer mccowan from whatI've seen this season from all the midfielders just my opinion.

16.) 16 Jun 2024 14:23:20
He might be like John McGinn, just not good enough for us.

17.) 17 Jun 2024 08:20:52
Maedin, Lawell haunts me. I hear what you’re saying though. I will believe it when I see it. I’ve been waiting since Seville for us to take Europe seriously. Confidence in Rogers signing record, especially at us, which was pretty awful too, isn’t high. His one signing Philips, was by far the worst of a bad bunch. I will get back on the glue for a few weeks to calm me.

21 May 2024 11:37:49
Note we are linked with Casteels the Belgium keeper. What a signing that would be, we should be all over him!

KenLikeEh

1.) 22 May 2024 11:24:51
Coming to Scotland? I doubt that very much. Every goalie who has anything about them will be quoted as a target. Buckle up lads, the insanity is about to begin.

2.) 22 May 2024 18:32:51
If we offered him 40k a year n a decent signing bonus why not?!

3.) 23 May 2024 07:46:36
Listen I hope he does, but, on the balance of how good he obviously is, the offers he will have, the money he will be offered (40k is chickenfeed) the league we are in and how it is perceived, makes me think he may go elsewhere. Our ace is the CL, but, there are another 35 teams in there, in better leagues who may want him. I can’t see it, but, who knows.

4.) 23 May 2024 12:15:46
£40k pw might be chicken feed in today's market but not if you're picking up a juicy signing-on bonus like Ken suggested. £2M up front and £40k pw over a 3 year deal takes you to around £52k pw. If the rumours about £7-8M for Cakir are accurate then you're saving yourself a good few million while still getting a very reputable player. If the Saudis or somebody else comes in with £80k pw then so be it, at least we put our best foot forward.

5.) 23 May 2024 19:32:36
That’s the main thing Kev! Asking the question we are far too late in making offers it seems.

{Ed007's Note - I said last week about Ndidi, offer him £40k a week and a £6 million signing on fee paid over a 4-year period takes him up to about £70k a week, we'd immediately improve the midfield quality wise and tactically with a proper CDM.}

6.) 26 May 2024 08:50:50
Well nobody thought we’d have ever been able to lure someone of the stature of Joe Hart and look what happened there -a top bloke and keeper he’ll be missed.
Celtic are still a big name in Europe and that is a lure for any player.

18 May 2024 10:24:24
Rumours of Jake Clarke-Slater gathering pace. Looks like we are in for him!

ED this one seems to be a solid link. Do you know much about him and are we interested?

One for buzz. Have we ever had a double-barrel named centre back pairing? lol.

KenLikeEh

{Ed007's Note - Clarke-Slater was considered a bit of a wonderkid but injuries held him back although he seems to have got over that. Celtic are one of the teams that have scouted him and he seems to be a bit of hot property with teams going up to the Pub League and teams at the bottom who have managed to stay up so it's obvious that he's seen as a player ready to step up a level.}

1.) 18 May 2024 20:28:10
I don’t think we have Ken.

07 May 2024 11:06:23
Daniel Kelly rejected our contract offer. He's one we should be keeping tabs on and not let slip away.

Again he will be another player who is smart and knows the club has no foresight. Is this a tell tale sign that nothing is changing?

KenLikeEh

1.) 07 May 2024 12:33:52
Some times far away fields are not always green . There have been quite a lot of Daniel’s age have sought pastures new . Most of these have yet to show any visible football benefits . Some seem to have grabbed a beauty to keep them warm . Our fans complain about players not getting training with first team and playing time . Not the case with Daniel .
Any player, either a novice starting off or an experienced player should always leave if he thinks he is too good for club.

2.) 07 May 2024 13:02:48
Apart from doak, Robertson how many have left our reserve / young sides and have gone on to anything special. Very few which shows:
a : they are not as good as they think they are or being told they are by their reps
B : our youth set up is not very good as we rarely produce players good enough for our first team for a consistent period, we regularly get beaten off most of the European teams in tournaments.
If he wants to go then so be it, but as a caveat I would have liked us to get the best possible coaches for the youth set up as well as prominent positions in the club . No disrepecrt but if Darren o dea and Steven McManus are the best two youth coaches around I’d be surprised. This promoting from with needs to change if we are to progress.
The new chief scout/ director of football will probably be from within as well.

3.) 07 May 2024 14:08:35
You can only bring horse to water, you can’t make him drink .
I think we have always a crop of good 15/ 16 year old who have been eager to learn and want to do better . As they get older they believe the hype about them and listen to people who question the ability of their coaches . Suddenly they know best and with their fawning parents especially father, a continental coach knows best, and before we know Celtic have lost another young starlet and in a couple years time he probably not be a professional football . If only Celtic had employed some super continental coach, the young starlet may never have made a pro - footballer but he would his mammy would have kept him in clean socks and fed him daily.

4.) 08 May 2024 10:46:19
Guys the report I read said the boy and his agent were still keen on signing new contract and were still negotiating.

5.) 08 May 2024 11:32:07
Tells you the club are being tight again Tim. That’s the problem.

6.) 08 May 2024 14:35:12
KenLikeEh
It is easy to discount your statement . We have over 40 Professionals on our books and the reason that from about 12-15 of them are on our books is that we are paying them too much money and so nobody will buy them or even take them for nothing . If we pay a lump of their wages, we might get them moved out on loan .
It’s the curse of overpaying that causes us the biggest Problem every window .
An example young Vata and his father has toured the European hotspots, but he can’t get a deal which is an improvement on Celtic.

7.) 08 May 2024 17:36:31
Kelly looks the best prospect we’ve had in years. Letting him go for nothing would be a mistake.

8.) 08 May 2024 17:48:08
Young Dembele had a good season. Doak being mentioned as one of Steve Clarkes 2 wilcards for Euros. THe lads at Bayern have had decent loans but those are players that we could and should have kept.
If Kelly and Vata leave then I dispair. What on earth is going on with our youths. There are good youngsters in our squad and I would hope to see 1 or 2 after we beat sevco on Sat.
Celtic are not a development club for our first team. The youth teams seem more to save face these days as they contribute nothing due to the fans insistence on winning team.
The fan in me but I loved seeing youngsters making the 1st 11. From McLaughlin to Donnelly. Jack Aitcheson to Tierney. Bring back those days and pathways for the young bhoys. Sooner we re enter a reserve league the better. Sorry for the rant.

9.) 08 May 2024 18:17:30
Nailed it Kieran!

There’s no excuses for retaining our talented players. The fact is our set up is abysmal and gives the players no direct route to the first team.

10.) 10 May 2024 00:49:29
Maybe the Board should consider putting something into manager contact that he must give some game time to our youth players .
Martin O’Neil blamed us fans, I think he was unfair, when he said he couldn’t play youngsters because fans demanded wins every week .

11.) 15 May 2024 10:43:27
You only should ever get a game if you’re good enough. The truth is, none of those who have come through for years have been anywhere near good enough. Squad players at best, most move away and are never heard of again.

Although if I have missed any that left us and went on to great things in the last ten years, I am all eyes.

Age isn’t the problem, ability, or lack of, is. KT is the last to make a position his own. That is a deplorable stat.

I'd take a chance on that Decordova Reid boy for Fulham. 31 years old but a good player. 2 year contract. Would be an improvement on what we have and free!

Im waiting for the international transfer window to open on 1st of July before we see any movement into the club. I imagine a lot of players are on holiday right now and won't be spending much time thinking about their future. I know I wouldn't be thinking much about my job when i've grafted all year and finally got a break ?.

Same fans complaining about no signings are complaining about the players we are linked with. I believe the club have locked down transfer talk again and all is guessing games from the MSM.

Am I being optimistic or a realist here?

KenLikeEh

1.) 26 Jun 2024 13:04:56
Your right about it being too early to be worried because the other window doesn’t open until July 1st.

2.) 26 Jun 2024 13:07:20
There seems to be no leaks nowadays from the inside.

3.) 26 Jun 2024 13:47:48
That's probably because our board have not identified anyone yet. ?.

4.) 26 Jun 2024 14:12:10
That’s the bit I’m nervous about but I’m going to be positive for once!

5.) 26 Jun 2024 14:16:45
Weejoe, surely it isn’t our Board’s responsibility to identify anyone .
I am sure Celtic have learned their lesson, and if they ever relied on the Board to identify players they have long since stopped dong so .
At this stage, pre window opening Board and Recruitment team and BR are probably checking over the players targeted and listing them in order of priority, both priority of positions on team and priorities within that particular position.
The real work begins when Board checks the availability within Celtic’s price range and how deal can be made.

6.) 26 Jun 2024 15:22:03
KenLikeEh,

thank you for being one of the very few, if not the only post, in recent times, that isn't regurgitating the clickbait guesswork aka 'Celtic have been linked with' rubbish. ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

7.) 26 Jun 2024 19:30:21
In recent years I’ve tried to keep on track with who we are linked with etc but realised there’s 5-10 players per position every single window. It’s not good for sanities sake to spend that much time looking into these things!

13 Jun 2024 18:51:47
Well done Lawwell & Co If they got £4m for Oh. Profit and an average player off the books!
Watch him go score 20 in Belgium!

KenLikeEh

1.) 13 Jun 2024 21:02:03
Personal terms agreed tidy profit.

2.) 13 Jun 2024 21:35:32
Good luck to the bhoy.

3.) 13 Jun 2024 21:52:24
I think there is a player in there but no point keeping him if the manager does not fancy him.

4.) 13 Jun 2024 22:24:57
It’s only a good bit of business if the money is spent to bring in someone much better…. Over to BR and the Board tomorrow ?.

5.) 13 Jun 2024 22:51:59
Hi All hope you are well.

Sad to see Oh go. Think we could have loaned him out to get a good run of games. Think there is a player in there.

Hopefully proper deadwood on their way.

6.) 14 Jun 2024 07:51:54
Sign me. I'd be a great 63 year old 'project'. ???.

7.) 14 Jun 2024 08:53:51
Shouldn't we be saying "Well done to Nicolson and Co"
I don't know what Lawwell would have to do with it.

8.) 14 Jun 2024 12:39:42
Think you’ve missed the Joke Jon.

Every single fan believes Lawwell holds the biscuit tin!

When we sign a player for £7m it’s well done Nicholson!

When we sign a player for £2m it’s Feck sake Lawwell!

So who is really behind these deals?

9.) 14 Jun 2024 13:44:32
It looks like good money for a player who hasn't cut it at the club - 'the jersey doesn't shrink'.

Hopefully the likes of Haksabanovic, Kobiyashi, Mikey Johnston, Welsh, McCarthy, Siegrist as well as a few others, join him.

We need to cut the squad size and then bring in some quality players that will get the fans of their seats.

☘️ ? ☘️.

10.) 15 Jun 2024 21:03:47
I often think that the Celtic jersey does shrink to fit individual Celtic players from Stein’s time wee Jimmy and Lennox, until now James Forrest and so many more.

05 Jun 2024 18:55:07
I've a feeling we will start the season something like this.

Kelleher
Johnston, CCV, McKenna, Taylor
McGregor
Hatate, Bernardo
Kuhn, Eddy, Maeda.

KenLikeEh

1.) 05 Jun 2024 19:27:07
Id hope not ken.

2.) 05 Jun 2024 19:43:34
Hope not.

3.) 05 Jun 2024 20:55:24
It’s good that we have 3/ 4 weeks from the start of the season before window closes to get a few in and those carrying knocks back fit . M O’R hopefully has got over his pre-season knock and is back in top form in midfield as is Scales and it’s good to have Mc Kenna as back -up. Kyogo available to replace Eddy around the hour mark and a top class winger, not yet fully fit to start on either wing when fully fit.

4.) 05 Jun 2024 22:29:02
That team is worse than this season's team.

5.) 06 Jun 2024 06:17:52
Kellehor is a non starter unless we are willing to break our transfer record for a signing.

6.) 06 Jun 2024 09:29:19
“I’ve a feeling” we won’t sign any of them never mind being a part of our staring 11.

7.) 06 Jun 2024 09:37:37
McKenna ?… please no!

8.) 08 Jun 2024 13:02:20
I am even more confused than ever . I know many Celtic fans blame our Board for being skin flints and always going for the cheap option .
However Celtic + very many other clubs have snubbed the cheaper option of McKenna, it appears no one has been interested in him for nothing, but up steps many Celtic fans in January and in June thinking Celtic would be daft not signing McKenna on a free.
Just maybe when the Celtic Board maybe are agreeing with Celtic fan bases over many transfer windows, that when u pay pea - nuts u get monkeys, the fans seem back to the biscuit tin mindset.

14 May 2024 10:36:32
I wonder if we would take a chance on Donny Van De Beek. I think he could be a great signing for us, lost his way a bit but sometimes players can come good again in a different setting. Man United are great at destroying players and we are good at reviving them, Scott Sinclair for example.

KenLikeEh

1.) 14 May 2024 13:07:33
Good example of a loan with option buy deal.

2.) 14 May 2024 13:38:00
He’s been off it for some time but would be an absolute steal if he got back to his old form ?.

3.) 14 May 2024 14:33:46
Not just de beek but there are many players who make big moves then lose form / confidence can't settle or get lost in massive squads or fall victim to manager changes etc .

4.) 14 May 2024 21:01:18
I am sorry, I don’t see Celtic gambling big time to sign a player like him on a loan or transfer. His wages are probably away above anything Celtic are paying and I think Board and B R would prefer not to gamble and bring in a player who has done. nothing for a season or more.
We won’t build success with wild gambles.
