Rumours that Norwich will be looking for £5m for Idah in the summer. That's a no brainer, he's streets ahead of Oh. He's played probably as often as Kyogo and been more effective since he came in. That's not a dig at Kyogo, just pointing out that the "2nd choice" narrative doesn't really ring true now that Ange is gone.

Kevbhoy

1.) 02 May 2024 13:58:11
I think Idah would be a good signing but feel £5m is way over what’s required. I’d offer £2m n Mikey J to test the waters.

2.) 02 May 2024 14:36:28
5 mil in today's market is peanuts. get him snapped up.

3.) 02 May 2024 14:40:23
Don’t feel we will bite …. Certainly not at the price.

4.) 02 May 2024 15:15:30
Respect everybody's opinions but £5m isn't a stretch for me at all. Not for a striker who has shown that he can score goals and offer a different dynamic to Kyogo. He's only just turned 23 so has got a lot of development in him too.

{Ed007's Note - I think there are better players out there than Miovski for £5m but I would take him every day over Kvistgaarden who would cost more and isn't up to much at all imo.}

5.) 02 May 2024 16:03:45
I agree Ed IF there was a choice I would take Miovski No slate on Idah he is a decent player and I would not complain if he was here on a permanent contract But Miovski I think would offer us more for around about I guess the same money.

{Ed007's Note - We need to bring in more than one striker this summer, maybe even 3 if Kyogo leaves and I wouldn't mind Idah being part of that mix
Is Miovski good enough to lead the line at a Club the size of Celtic, is he capable of playing and competing at CL level?}

6.) 02 May 2024 16:05:10
Kvistgaarden is a weird one Ed. He doesn't have a great scoring record but if the media is anything to go by, you get the impression we're desperate to bring him in. Seems quite Kyogo-ish. Small, fast, good runner.

{Ed007's Note - I think he was a Baby Lawwell target for Ange so hopefully their exits has put a stop to any interest we did have.}

7.) 02 May 2024 21:03:13
A think Miovski scored a few in Europe for a poor Aberdeen team this yr Edd. I agree Miovdki snd Idah for me.

{Ed007's Note - Yeah but at what level in Europe? We've seen from TRIFC's recent excursions in Europe the past few years that there is a massive gulf in class between the CL and the EL, they went from beaten EL finalists to the worst ever team in CL history in less than 6 months.
Striker for me is where the Club should and could show their intent, why not break the bank for a new striker, look at the £10 million player market and pay him £50/60k a week to find the team's new talisman.
With the money we have just now and will have if we win the league there is no reason for Celtic not to push the boat out and sign a quality striker, is Miovski the best we can get? Not for me, TC.
We need a new main striker imo, sell Kyogo back to Japan get in THE best our money can get us, bring in Idah as back up (I don't think Miovski would be happy with that role) and then look at someone like a Jamie Vardy - an older striker that would be happy with any game time,being in the CL and a chance of winning some silverware etc to be 3rd choice if/when needed.}

8.) 02 May 2024 22:02:20
Spend £10m on transfer n then ure figs of £50k/ w over 3 years = circa approx £18m, who's that player in your opinion that'll take us to next level?

9.) 02 May 2024 22:29:08
I think Miovski could do the job no problem, he leads the line for his country at international level he has lead the line for Aberdeen in the Conference league this season and done quite well.

I just think Miovski is one of those guy's who will score goals wherever he plays, the way he plays for Aberdeen against us is perfect for the us playing in Europe. Being able to hold the ball up and take it in or bring others into the play, ok he isn't the quickest out there but he works hard, puts himself about a bit and scores plenty goals. What more do you want in a No. 9?

10.) 04 May 2024 00:04:32
I think we need to look at our own record in the Europa league and see what a striker like Miovski might have done for us, although I think the priority for us is to get a European class goalkeeper l, if we had one of those the last few seasons it would have made a big difference to our European results.

11.) 07 May 2024 12:52:23
I hope we wouldn’t finish up paying £10m or more and pay £50k a week for what turns out to be a £5 m striker . Who is to know beforehand that he is worth £10m, surely it depends on where he is on his contract cycle .
If we spend £10 m and pay £50k a week and he plays ok scores high teens amount of goals domestically and 5/ 6 in Champions league, is he a £10m / £50k a week player or a good £5m £30k a week player .
I suppose it will give us fans something new to debate and argue about . Just one last thing is it is known a striker is earning £50k per week, how do our other better players like £25- £30 k per week, does club have to pay approximately 20 players an additional £10 k week equalling another £10m per yr on wage bill.

09 May 2023 12:01:22
We've been credited with an interest in Tasos Douvikas. He plays as a striker for Utrecht and reports are that Barkas could be used as a bargaining chip in the deal. Seems a bit lazy to me but he's the Eredivisie top scorer and that's worked out well for us recently!

Kevbhoy

1.) 09 May 2023 13:02:17
Lazy? That's insane. Work smarter, not harder.

Get rid of Barking and get a top quality striker from a good European league? Shocking business that.

2.) 09 May 2023 17:02:22
I didn't say it was lazy from Celtic, I meant lazy from the Dutch media.

3.) 09 May 2023 18:10:33
That would be amazing buisness if it happens!

4.) 09 May 2023 22:16:58
Kyoto, Oh and Douvikas as our strikers. I would be well happy with that.

06 Dec 2022 13:05:10
It's being reported that Cho Gue Sung is close to finalising a transfer to a new club. I'd describe the links with us as woolly at best, so does anyone think this could be a goer?

He's been dubbed the World Cup's sexiest player so if he's a flop we could at least punt a few calendars!

Kevbhoy

1.) 07 Dec 2022 09:32:39
Nope, will be surprised if it’s us. His profile has risen so coming to Scotland I just can’t see happening. We will get someone not one has ever heard of.

2.) 07 Dec 2022 10:31:54
Agree with you there MP. Scouting unknowns has worked out very well for us recently so long may that continue.

30 May 2022 20:44:11
There's a midfielder from Gent who's been linked with us on KDS; Elisha Owusu, Ghanaian International. I'm not sure there's anything in it tbh but he's definitely the profile of a No. 6 I'd like us to go for. Good timing in the tackle, quick, strong and athletic but also very good technically - not just a bruiser. Also, good to have you back Ed.

Kevbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, Kev. Elisha Owusu of Gent and Aliou Dieng who plays for Al Ahly have both supposedly been scouted for that role.}

1.) 30 May 2022 21:56:45
Yeah I've seen both names mentioned Ed. Like a good few of Ange's signings I'm sure it'll end up being a signing out of nowhere but, like I said, if he fits the profile I'll be happy.

{Ed007's Note - We need to look at the Mark Lawwell factor as well when it comes to potential signings.}

Rubin Kazan, Bordeaux, Everton, Crystal Palace all getting in on the bidding war for Eddy now. While it'll make a lot of fans wring their hands it makes me sad. For me, he's the best striker we've had since Hooper - edging out Dembele purely for longevity - and it's become all-too-common for fans of my generation to only be able to enjoy a player for a brief period of time and wonder what could have been if we kept the gang together. He's not been the Eddy we know he can be lately so it's definitely the right time for him to move on so he goes with my best wishes. I'd love to see a good chunk of the money invested in a big brute of a CB.

Kevbhoy

1.) 27 Aug 2021 22:18:48
Agree that time for him to go. Not sure if better than Moussa, for me he was total footballer-almost like a third centre half with corners and so composed on the ball, also able to bring others in in way Edouard doesn’t. . Ed has that beautiful composure in the box or on a run towards. I just can’t stand the attitude and I also think that he might stifle Kyogo. I do 100% agree though that I would love us to bring in a proper centre half, preferably someone seasoned with bit of experience.

2.) 27 Aug 2021 23:28:31
On his day an unbelievable talent. Different player to Moussa so hard to compare but both supreme talents. Pity both saw us a stepping stone as both could have been legends.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 00:36:11
Different strengths Chinks you're right but in terms of pure footballing skill and ability, I'd go for Eddy. Dembele was a powerhouse.

4.) 28 Aug 2021 13:44:02
He stared to shine when mousa left imo. I don't think he's as gd as mousa different but not as tough as mousa which Eduard lacks.

5.) 28 Aug 2021 21:52:14
If he starts the two of them tomorrow eddy has to be on the left and kyogo through the middle.

Breel Embolo and Andreas Skov Olsen. That's 2 guys at the Euros who perfectly fit the profile of what I'd like to see coming in. Skov Olsen in particular. Easily £25m and £100k in wages though. Would we have the stomach for it? We should in my opinion. Worst case scenario you cut down on spending for a couple of windows.

Kevbhoy

1.) 02 Jul 2024 11:42:33
Embolo only scored 13 in past two seasons.

2.) 02 Jul 2024 11:56:36
Celtic refuse to pay £10M on a transfer and £40k a week in wages.

3.) 02 Jul 2024 11:58:16
Embolo got an ACL injury then after recovering got another injury, think that justifies his 13 goals.

4.) 02 Jul 2024 12:58:36
£25M would be a ridiculous sum of money for us to spend on a player and the wages are a definite no go.
With good scouting we should be recruiting players that will develop into £25M worth in 1-2 years. Orielly being the current example. I love that we look to sign players that will develop in a year or 2. The issue was we also needed 4 first team quality signings to allow these players to develop in the back ground or out on loan for a year.

5.) 02 Jul 2024 13:18:11
I meant £25m for the pair SoSBhOy.

14 Jun 2024 23:02:56
Hopefully we can put the Angus Gunn chat to bed now. The guy's honking.

Kevbhoy

1.) 15 Jun 2024 03:11:56
I bloody hope so.

2.) 15 Jun 2024 06:24:49
He better not be our new keeper as he was pish.

3.) 15 Jun 2024 09:18:35
A fancied him guilty as charged. not now that was a poor performance but the whole team were shambolic.

4.) 15 Jun 2024 09:26:20
Think he should have saved two of the goals, but Scotland missed Dykes as a target man, and Hickey was a big miss as a wingback.

5.) 15 Jun 2024 10:54:35
I have been advocating his signature for a while but I have to say after last night's performance if that is what we would have to look forward then we should stay well clear, he was garbage.

6.) 15 Jun 2024 11:29:37
Everybody can have a bad day at the office and in fairness to him, the whole team were rank rotten but I just don't fancy him at all.

7.) 15 Jun 2024 12:48:33
Kevbhoy you’re correct the whole were rank rotten but mr Souness only slaughtered Callum McGregor no criticism of the players who play in the allegedly best league in the world who were found seriously wanting.

8.) 15 Jun 2024 14:33:00
Shows the p Rick is still hurting badly, that’ll do me.

9.) 15 Jun 2024 17:53:54
Gunn was very poor last night . We don’t need him.

10.) 15 Jun 2024 20:58:16
Anyone who picked out any individual player certainly had an agenda, I didn’t see Cal McG letting his midfield partner (s) down . I didn’t see star players like Robertson or McGinn contributing anything for team . I don’t see how any strikers could achieve anything, only ball we got into their penalty area was from a set piece, we tried to hit penalty area from any place . I have little admiration for McKenna but he was the only man to attack a ball in area and he got a lucky ricochet to get goal.

25 May 2024 19:18:22
Well that's not one I'll be watching back but they all count. Brilliant way to end the season and nice to give Joe Hart a great send off. Idah the man for the big moment yet again plus a special shout-out to Bernardo.

Get some rest Ed because it's time for 2 months of random names you've never even heard of ?.

Kevbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Cometh the hour cometh the man, Kev mate and after a very drunken phone call off a poster after the game, apparently I am THE man ??

1.) 25 May 2024 20:47:08
A drunken mind speaks a sober heart. You're certainly the man on this forum.

{Ed007's Note - ????

2.) 26 May 2024 00:36:10
Did I phone you? dude. Woah. Not cool.

{Ed007's Note - No mate, you just serenaded me with a rendition of Without You in a WhatsApp message - which will be getting played on tonight's podcast ??

17 May 2024 12:13:01
What's everybody's thoughts for tomorrow? Do we go strong and keep momentum going or try and keep some guys fresh for the final? I'd probably go:

Hart (sub on Bain near the end)
Ralston Nawrocki Scales Taylor
Iwata McGregor
Forrest O'Riley Kuhn
Idah.

Kevbhoy

1.) 17 May 2024 12:54:12
I'd start strong and get callum hatate mor maeda and ccv off at ht or 60 min mark.

2.) 17 May 2024 13:04:59
Sometimes it breaks the momentum if a lot of changes are made, but there were a couple of worrying moments in the Killie game with Joe Hart and CCV needing treatment plus that bad tackle on Hatate.
So maybe a couple of precautionary changes might be an option.
The manager has got it spot-on for most of the games and I'm sure he will make the right decisions and use plenty of subs on the day.

3.) 17 May 2024 13:17:38
It’s a hard call Kev and I’m not sure myself.
I’m sure Nawrocki and Welsh will get game time tomorrow.

Maybe it depends who has recovered the best from celebrating ?.

4.) 17 May 2024 13:38:58
Forgot about Welsh, Buzz. Aye, I'm not so sure big Cam will be feeling his best haha.

5.) 17 May 2024 13:51:29
Kev,
I’ve always been a big fan of Welsh.
He always has over 90% successful passes.

Welsh is still young and I’m sure he will continue to improve, which Centre Backs usually do with experience.

I’m not biased because he was brought up 5 minutes along the road. ?.

6.) 17 May 2024 15:03:49
Play our best team, as usual and make changes in 2nd half .
Trying to avoid injuries doesn’t always work out, as a player can get injured at home playing with children.

7.) 17 May 2024 15:15:33
Don't relax, treat the cup final as the end of the season, go at St Mirren the same way as Killie.

8.) 17 May 2024 16:26:20
I would give the youngsters and squad players a run out and keep the first steamers fresh for the final.

16 May 2024 10:33:24
What a way to seal the deal! Great performance all round and a special mention to big Idah. He's been pivotal in this title charge after and it's great to see after the negativity when he came in. Not towards him personally but the fact the move screamed of a last minute panic buy.

Kevbhoy

1.) 16 May 2024 17:13:41
I'd definitely try to sign him permanently Kev, but not as our main striker. He's got a bit more about him than a lot of folk thought. I knew he could play a bit for a big lad but I didn't think he would have the impact he has. The fact he is in and running makes it as safe as a transfer can be. That's why a loan with the option to buy is a good route. I can see Kyogo away and I still think we could command a half decent fee to put towards another man.

2.) 16 May 2024 18:57:59
Norwich had stalled a loan to an Italian side because Italians were negotiating a loan with a right to buy . Celtic only got loan agreed because there was no right to buy added on.

3.) 16 May 2024 19:27:51
I thought we had an option to buy for some reason, Des. My bad ?.

If history is anything to go by, the people running the club will be terrified of missing out on the O'Riley payday. £25m + sell-on probably gets him. Although the higher the fee, the less chance of benefiting from any future sell-on.

All just rumours at this point but if true, it's a dangerous game to play. The higher the asking price goes, the more likely clubs are to look elsewhere to ensure best value for money. There's a real possibility you price clubs out of a move and end up stuck with a player you'd rather move on.
