It's about time Celtic told SLY to take a feck to themselves.
Season opener KO for the champions should be first on the card and should never be second fiddle to an earlier KO for Sevco.
There is too much manipulation and influencing of fixtures by SLY.

Sevco can’t be scheduled to play on the Sunday because they have a midweek European match.
But
It was the same last season.
Celtic played 1st at 12.30pm and the Sevco lost at Killie with a 5.30pm Saturday kick off time.

If Sevco are playing in the Europa league this season coming,
They will be playing plenty of Sunday league matches at Ibrox if and when it’s available.

Doncaster saying "These things happen"When? Where? I don't recall any teams stadium being not fit for purpose due to buying cheap materials from Asia.

3.) 27 Jun 2024 16:50:43
Last season, Sevco toiled in Europe on Thursday, yet throughout the season Celtic played more SPFL games after Rangers2012 even though we were in Champions League.

Just seen MOR has been left out of the Denmark squad for the Euros. Personally, I don't care for International football, but I know many players see it as recognition and reward, so maybe the Danish manager like others like him, doesn't rate the SPL?
Will this influence MOR's future?

Onceabhoy4

1.) 30 May 2024 16:57:43
I don’t think it affects MOR’s decision. He has clearly grew exponentially this year, and in doing so he has outgrown the league we play in.

IMO it is a pipe dream of any Celtic fan that thinks he will be playing in the hoops next year. Such a talent needs to be challenged more on a week to week basis to continue to grow. CL football won’t be enough to keep him as many top clubs are interested in him.

2.) 30 May 2024 17:26:58
Their manager has recently slated our league.

3.) 30 May 2024 17:26:58
Their manager has recently slated our league.

4.) 30 May 2024 19:14:08
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I see MO’R here next season as he is still young and with a very good Manager BR, he is just as likely to further his career with us, playing a minimum of 8 Champions League matches for a team he is almost guaranteed a starting place, instead of proving himself at a so called bigger club . The bigger club who buy him the harder he may find to play every game.

5.) 30 May 2024 19:35:02
You can guarantee if he goes to a “bigger” club he will not have as good a season as he has this year for us but he will be a regular for Denmark. I genuinely question the danish managers ability with some of the players he has selected in front of him.

6.) 30 May 2024 20:10:46
It would be extremely unrealistic to think he could have a season like this year in a top 5 league like the premier league. MOR would be worth well over 100M in that case.

In a higher quality squad and playing against the best in the world week in and out he may be able to produce impressive stats in a few years.

If I was a gambling man I would bet my house on MO not being here next year. The only way it doesn’t happen is injury.

7.) 30 May 2024 20:55:08
Personally I think he was rubbish for 1/ 3 of the season, and for me needs to prove to big guns he’s real deal, teams with money ( prem) panic and will want him regardless but if he wants to progress he should prove he has it for full season and cl,

I love the guy, he’s naturally gifted but I see so much improvement in him that’s needed and if happens then who knows wat he could achieve.

8.) 30 May 2024 23:26:00
Being overlooked by denmark will have no bearing on his future whatsoever. He knows, brendan knows and the board knows bids will be incoming regardless. Oriley will want to move on to test himself and more money. Its only natural.
The only negative for getting overlooked is it might not get us a few extra quid for a good tournament.

9.) 30 May 2024 23:49:16
Surely anyone who has any interest in and knowledge of European football would ridicule our league . The fact that Scottish Football Authorities put more effort into getting Rangers2012 Champions of SPL, than they try to get better TV deal and much improved Sponsorship reflects badly in the quality and entertainment of our SPL.

26 May 2024 11:55:37
Years ago I remember watching a Celtic video where Big Billy lamented that there is a fairy tale about our club and so it continues.
The final SPL push certainly took it's toll on our stamina and energy for much of the second half and to be honest, they stifled and nullified us up to a point, and our domination never created as much as previous games against Sevco; but even though we were not at our sparkling best, they rarely threatened our goal.
The substitutions were timely and decisive in the end and although it wasn't a showpiece, it showed the will to win and determination that makes us the best in the land.
In all honesty, I had doubts earlier in the season but I'm delighted to stand corrected and salute the achievements of BR and the players. I only hope our Board also realize how difficult they made things for the manager and even though we prevailed in the end, they must totally back the manager to the hilt so we can improve and progress at home and on the European stage. H H.

A brilliant post OAB. ?.

2.) 26 May 2024 12:34:28
The board had better sort out the recruitment and back Rodgers or the reprieve they gave earned from the fans will be short lived.

Although we have cash to burn, I am not expecting us to go crazy but I am expecting them to push the boat out a little. They need to get Brendan the players he wants and we need to address the deficiencies in the team.

Getting a goal keeper in early is the number one priority, closely followed by a striker and CB. We should also be looking at a MOR replacement and backup and a LB who will provide a challenge to Taylor. A top class right winger would also be high on my shopping list.

3.) 26 May 2024 12:51:37
Hopefully the Board have got the message as yesterday’s victory was tough for team coming after good performances and exciting SPL victory . Not many of us expected at any time of the season to win a double . If it was tough for players it was definitely tough for fans, I kept telling my self SPL was won and that was all that mattered. No such thing 2nd half was virtually unwatchable.
We all expect more incoming activity in transfer coming up but I hope we are not buying players with a shatter gun approach, find an available player who seems good value for money and buy him, rather than scout carefully and find the type of player BR wants for specific position. We have the bones of a quality team that will work hard for victory, let us make sure we fill the position BR wants with type of player he wants, and even if we have to pay a wee bit extra don’t let price or wages be deciding factor.

4.) 26 May 2024 17:44:06
What we must realise is any signing is a gamble because playing in the SPL isn't for everyone, some need time to adapt, some would sign miovski this season but I don't think you would've really wanted him last season? Some players brought in need to go out on loan and get to grips with the Scottish game, others are defintely not good enough, but when the likes of MJ can go into the championship and light it up, and let's get it right there's big clubs in that division and decent players we would have in a heartbeat, then what is the actual bar we are setting for a player to come in? Even in that league they would probably be too costly to ourselves.
Southampton gained promotion today and 9 of their team earn more than cal mac, this identifying players shouldn't be based on money, oreilly is the prime example.

I know we are on the verge of another title and have a cup to play for, but I agree with fellow posters who say we 'got away with one' this season. Because although results against Sevco in particular have made the difference, there were too many games where we were far from convincing or entertaining although admittedly we gave ourselves a huge handicap with poor recruitment leading to limited options and almost a whole team left on the sidelines picking up wages for bench warming and less.

There have been few games that I can honestly say I enjoyed the way we played - out-with the results and even when everything clicked, we rarely carried it forward to the next game or two. Why was that?

I appreciate folk will say we are on the verge of another title, so shut up and enjoy it, and given the injury problems and the lack of quality in the squad I get that.
However, we can all see the areas that need vast improvement and the recruitment repair job that lies ahead including a new goalkeeper and there's also a chance we will lose star players as well?

We need major investment in the squad to progress and improve domestically, never mind being able to attempt a European campaign.

Celtic have badly lacked a goal threat at set pieces for years.
Both in the air and at dead ball free kicks and penalties.

I don’t think Celtic have scored directly from a free kick all season.

Last season Jota scored a direct free kick in the CL and Turnbull scored an indirect free kick in the last minute away to St. Johnstone.

A poor return for 2 seasons of football.

2.) 12 May 2024 12:47:28
Completely agree Once a bhoy, my view is clearer . If the board don’t want to alter the mindset regarding fees for players then get out of the way, and let the club modernise.
Whilst being successful recently we could have pushed on further, especially in Europe, our spending model needs to change. I’d say without doubt now we will spend circa 20-25 million in the close season, and then sell o Riley to negate it.

3.) 13 May 2024 01:10:26
Surely, we didn’t get away with anything this season . Sevco have been breathing down our necks because of the illegal assistance from referees and VAR Not only has Sevco benefited from their decisions but we have dropped points directly because of decisions given against us .
It isn’t fair on Manager and players to ignore the role of Refs and VAR .
Also remember for no other reason than put our team under pressure we were forced to play far too many matches after Rangers2012, thus making it harder.

This wouldn't be a Stuart Armstrong plus cash for MOR rumour, is it?

I agree the clear-out was very important to reduce the squad, get rid of players who are not in the managers plans and raising extra funds. The real test for the Board will be to bring in better quality than we have and improve the team for Europe and domestic dominance.

Our support have not forgotten last season's shambolic summer window and I would hope our first signing sets down a quality marker that shows the intent and ambition of the club to progress and improve.
Anyone who comes in before then, that is no better than what we have will sow seeds of doubt about our Board's idea of what is required.

I agree our location and standard of the SPL will always hamper any bargaining strength at Celtic, especially while guys like Kyogo and O'Riley are snubbed by their International team selectors.
I also blame our Board for the way we have deteriorated in stature across Europe thanks to the downsizing and repeated sale of our top players, especially when there has been plenty cash in the bank.

Just heard that and it would be good business, although I'm disappointed he never quite made it at Celtic as the potential was there as I've seen watching various highlights.
Think the impact Idah made pushed him down the order and out of the managers favour - like a few others that may well depart soon.

English teams (like Southampton) know we are a great source of 'cheap' talent that they can profit on in the long run.
Our location, utter domination of the SPL and very poor European standing doesn't help us get proper valuations.
In recent years, two of our most big money sales were both over £25m for KT and Jota, so we should be looking at that for a marker.

It will be the most important decision and signing of the season, so we have to get it spot-on. What big Joe lacked in agility, he more than made up for in presence, influence and experience and he was instrumental in our play from the back with good passing and awareness. Hopefully we get someone of similar ilk ASAP.

We are being linked with so many players and I reckon much of it is a mixture of speculation and mischief making.
When the 'window' opens I - like the rest of us - hope our Board has learned lessons from past mistakes and listen to what the manager needs to improve the squad in the vital areas required.
The club 'got out of jail free' after some shocking recruitment and contractual awards and must not perceive this as satisfactory.

SLY have far too much influence on KO times and usually have us following them as much as possible, because they're bottlers.

I've always said never go back, but It looked like BR relied on James Forrest and Maeda before Khun, Yang and Palma and Abada is away, so there's room for improvement in the wide areas.
