I want us to go get David De Gea. Think it could be another sort Joe Hart deal. A good solid 2/ 3 years of service. Also helps the club I feel with the so called big name player.

I'd like us to go for the Georgia keeper. No idea who he is but he looks a bit mad.

2.) 23 Jun 2024 11:43:19
Would cost around 25milllion henrik so think we can rule that one out.

3.) 23 Jun 2024 13:49:55
One thing I like in my goalkeeper, is ability to make simple saves . David De Gea hasn’t learned that and I don’t want him coming to Celtic at his current age without having mastered that.

For me this is a no brainer …… if we could bring in Édouard over Idah it’s simple as that. Massive step up and better chance in Europe.

If we can punt kyogo for 3m, Oh for 2m, then go for both. 7m each.

2.) 29 May 2024 20:19:59
Why would we punt Kyogo and for less than we paid for him? ?, he’s not had his best season but still got 19 goals, he’s the most natural goalscorer at the club .

3.) 29 May 2024 21:41:06
He also signed a new 4 year deal which will take him up to July '27 but yes, let's sell him for a lot less than he is worth!

4.) 29 May 2024 21:57:21
If Brendan stays,
I would try and sell Kyogo.

Kyogo was available for all 50 Celtic games this season and in the vast majority of those games he was non existent, due to the role he was playing under Brendan.

I would hate to watch that again next season.

5.) 29 May 2024 22:06:22
Punt kyogo for 3 mill - you must be on drugs ??‍♂️.
Heard we're in for Daniel Amartey - ghana / besiktas.

6.) 30 May 2024 18:48:18
So exactly how much do you all think he's worth? How much have we raked in from selling our other 29 y/o top players?

7.) 30 May 2024 19:38:28
3 mil to low, 15 mil too high. I'd be happy with around 8 mil. It just depends if BR wants to keep him at the club or if he wants to go with a different type of striker next season.

8.) 30 May 2024 20:37:40
Yknow that scouts do watch players? Kyogo has been good but he ain't no leigh Griffiths. LG on his day was 10x the finisher. We ain't getting 8m.

{Ed007's Note - I've been saying the same thing for months mate, LG, Hooper, Scott McDonald, JVoH, Dembele & Edouard were all far better strikers than Kyogo is.
In saying that, if Arsene Wegner's changes to the offside rule - where there must be "daylight" between the attacker and defender for an offside offence to occur. If any part of the attacker's body, from which they can score, is in line with the last defender then this is considered onside - Kyogo could be unplayable and Maeda could really flourish as well.
But for me Kyogo doesn't have that striker's instinct to go sniffing out half chances and he misses far too many sitters where it is easier to score than miss.}

9.) 30 May 2024 21:32:03
8-10 mill for kyogo.

{Ed007's Note - Yeah in Yen! If it's a move back to Japan as is being muted anything over circa £5m would be the 2nd most expensive transfer in Japanese history since the Brazilian Jo a few years back.
For a guy that doesn't get a sniff at international level? No chance.}

10.) 01 Jun 2024 00:03:45
Even taking into account Ed007 rating of Kyogo, I think we would be stupid to let him go, unless he really forced our hands .
Kyogo can be completely outplayed for the complete ist half of game, when out of nothing he can grab a goal . Some. games that striker’s instinct is missing but no matter how bad he is playing, the opponents worry about him and have to pay an awful lot of attention to him as he can find an open space in penalty area even with teams playing with 6 or more defending deep .
If he is allowed to go and Idah can’t be got, I think we would be have a serious difficulty fielding a decent strike force at the start of next season.

A hammering incoming……

Calum McGregor I know he set up the goal….

Is he really the level we require to run the engine room to go well/ far in Europe.

Watching him at Europe or international level… I just feel he out his depth. Just does not seem to impact the games at such level.

I am ready…. I think… hit me.

1.) 19 Jun 2024 23:10:44
Celtic are a long way from doing well or going far in the CL.

Celtic have dominated domestically but we’re miles behind a CL standard.
Especially with Brendan Rodgers as our manager.

I felt more confident with Lenny as our manager in European matches than I do with Brendan.
I just think Celtic are too easy to play against when Brendan is in charge at a higher level.

But no one can argue with Brendan’s domestic record and his Derby head to head record.

2.) 19 Jun 2024 23:29:04
Ill be in the minority as well but i agree we need better players than callum to progress at european level. that's not a knock on callum, just an honest opinion. To be fair probably only oriley is CL quality. IMO that's how far off we are with competing at that level.

3.) 19 Jun 2024 23:42:43
Hexwas as good as any Scottish player tonight including the ones from the best league in the world.

4.) 20 Jun 2024 07:00:51
I thought McGinn was invisible last night, so no one can say CM or whatever his name is. ? was worst on the park.

Feel sorry for AR, he struggled against the pace of their winger and his pass back for their goal is something he won't forget in a long time.

Bet their pages are blaming Celtic players for Scotlands position but it was a fighting performance, with no no real quality on show from Scotland tbh.

5.) 20 Jun 2024 07:49:55
Last night was the type of performance Celtic must give when we are playing obviously better teams in Europe . Scotland fought for every ball and made it difficult for the Swiss to use ball when they had it . The left side of our defence always helped teammates out and took up position. The RHS hadn’t any system and it was everyman for himself . Tony Ralston did well to settle down after that pass
There isn’t much of a goal scoring threat in this Scottish team and that means he can’t give away soft goals . A little bit of pride restored.

6.) 20 Jun 2024 09:02:44
The reality with their goal was that Grant Hanley gave him a pass he shouldn't have, when there was an easier one down the middle for Gilmour.

That happened a lot last night with Hendry and Handtey putting AR into a corner on several occasions with no ball out.

7.) 20 Jun 2024 10:12:24
Celtic had been trying to find a replacement for Scott Brown for years, when he was coming to the end of his career and constantly failed.

That replacement ended up being Calmac and now history is repeating itself because no new signings have been as good as Broony or Calmac, since Wanyama left 11 years ago.

It’s easier said than done that we need to upgrade Callum McGregor.

8.) 20 Jun 2024 10:52:44
Callum McGregor had a 95% passing accuracy last night and he committed Zero fouls.
He also had an assist.

9.) 20 Jun 2024 11:29:44
Buzz, Its only "easier said than done" because of our very poor recruitment in recent years and board unwilling to target ready made players. Instead they targeted unknowns like holm, iwata and kwon never mind arguably our worst signing this century in mccarthy.
It would have been easier replacing brown if the board showed some ambition.

10.) 20 Jun 2024 13:01:54
Giving an alternative striker a position on team isn’t necessarily going to improve goal threat. Did Adams get a half decent opportunity to get a strike on goal in either of the two matches.

Instead of joining with well known Celtic haters and pointing out A Ralston areas that he could improve, I have been particularly pleased that a Celtic reserve who has only played in a handful of matches all season could do us all so proud.

A Ralston has had to put up with plenty of rubbish during his short spells on Celtic First team has often come up with important assists and goals. The least any Celtic supporter can do is shut down criticism from Rangers EBT recipients and SMSM bigots. Are own should always come first.

11.) 20 Jun 2024 15:22:45
Stuck. Agreed.

12.) 20 Jun 2024 16:19:30
“ Callum McGregor had a 95% passing accuracy last night and he committed Zero fouls.
He also had an assist” Calum was awful. 95% of that 95% was passed straight back to who he received it from. Both McGinn and him were nowhere the whole game. All I seen him do was point. He never turned and ran at them once. My cat could have made the passes he made. He needs to turn up on Sunday because the two games so far he has been awful.

Tony is out of his depth too. He shouldn’t start on Sunday.

13.) 20 Jun 2024 19:30:05
Who would you play then at rb mccrorie please no.

14 Jun 2024 08:52:26
So the transfer window is open?

Still no head of recruitment in? A club of our size. just can't help feel it's not very organised or areas prioritised correctly.

Surely this should have been 1st on the list, good structure in any business, yields best results in performance.

stucol86

1.) 14 Jun 2024 09:34:50
You’ve got a point,
However our best players currently at the club, were signed by Ange when Celtic were in between head of recruitment appointments.

2.) 14 Jun 2024 09:46:42
Celtic never had a head of recruitment when these players were signed -

Kyogo, Starfelt, Abada, Juranovic, Giakoumakis, O’Riley, Hatate, Hart, Scales, Jota (loan) , CCV (loan) , Maeda, Scales, Ideguchi, Liam Shaw, Johnny Kenny and McCarthy on a free.

3.) 14 Jun 2024 09:05:11
Thought we had hired an overseas one recently.

4.) 14 Jun 2024 11:52:14
Maybe best based on that evidence we skip head of recruitment lol.

5.) 14 Jun 2024 12:07:52
When we never had a head of recruitment we apparently used an old 'magic 8 ball'.

6.) 14 Jun 2024 12:22:41
I get what you are saying Buzz but tge Celtic board got lucky when they stumbled upon Ange ad from tge outside looking in it would appear to me anyway that he kind of assumed the role due to the type of manager he is, before Ange came in we were all saying the same thing the club needs to modernise the football department and here we are 3 years down the line and we still haven't done it.

What does that tell me? Well that tells me that things are going to stay pretty much the same as they have always been.
If nothing changes then nothing changes it's as simple as that, I don't care what anyone else says but the day the transfer window opens we should be announcing our new keeper for the next 4 or 5 years to the world and yet Nada! Plumbs!

{Ed007's Note - It's only the domestic window that's open, we can only finalise deals with other Scottish teams/players. The international window doesn't open until July 1st.}

7.) 14 Jun 2024 12:39:10
That's Ed saying calm the f**k down Bhoys, it's early doors ?

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - ??

8.) 14 Jun 2024 14:03:56
It’s not the Head of recruitment that is important, it is the players that our scouting team point out to Board who are good choices for Michael N to do deal with their club and bring players to our club . Head of recruitment might only sort them out in preference, surely if PL, had a few free hours he could help the club out or else some of the recruitment team could take on job in an interim basis . The worse thing we could have done is spend the last few months concentrating on Head of Recruitment, especially when BR has demanded final say on players coming in.

9.) 14 Jun 2024 15:12:38
Wee des what is important is modernisation of the football department at Celtic with a director of football who takes care of all the football matters at the club and liase with the board for budgets and the likes, for a club the size of Celtic to operate the way it does is just plain crazy.

10.) 14 Jun 2024 14:41:50
I’ve set off fireworks early here. Sorry Ed I’ll go back in my box till the 1st lol.

{Ed007's Note - ??

11.) 14 Jun 2024 17:41:10
Rojac . Do you think we should have both Head of Recruitment and Director of Footballer . Surely Celtic are quite a big club operating in a small league . I realise that we need back - up and also supervision for our Football Manager but I don’t think we need to have as many Managers and Directors as teams in the EPL who have massive TV payments etc and it is obvious that Celtic can’t match these clubs or other top clubs in the other top 4 leagues . Celtic have to keep as much money as possible for players and not wasted on excess pen pushers.

12.) 14 Jun 2024 21:24:10
Des we make enough money to have both jobs within our club definitely

So how can a Head of recruitment deal with all football matters from youth teams to coaching to fitness and sports science and have time to do his recruitment job?

A club the size of Celtic should have a director of football and by the way Celtic are a rich club just not as rich as the richest teams in the richest league. For the first time we are into the top 20 clubs in the world for merchandise above Inter Milan and a couple of other clubs bringing in £34m last year.
If my memory serves me correctly we have a turnover similar to the likes of Benfica I'm sure. In my opinion the reason we underperforming is back of a fag packet way we run ourselves, we are a multimillion pound organisation where money men should deal with money and football people deal with football and a director of football who has a knowledge of both acts as the go between the both.

13.) 15 Jun 2024 09:21:57
Rojac, We need better players with the best possible facilities to help them to be ftt as possible and to improve the football structure of our team . Of course we need Director of football and Head of Recruitment and every other football club position but unless we want to have a better football influence in Europe .
Manchester Utd when Ferguson was king, didn’t have Directors and Heads of everything, they have now and celebrate Cup victory and no league titles for years 11 yrs . We need to keep winning and worry about building different Football position as we go . Too many Directors and Head of various roles within club can cause dissension within club where agreement and consent is vital.

Long time reader……. 1st time posting. Excellent site been a joy to read over the years.

Would anyone think going for Martial from Man Utd is a possibility? Free agent and needs to kickstart his career? Could come up here and get his self back on the football map

Cheers.

stucol86

{Ed007's Note - Welcome aboard mate, always nice to see new posters but Martial even if we could afford him would be a massive no for me, his attitude stinks and he would have been a top player if he had screwed the nut when he was younger.}

Welcome aboard but it's a no from me as well total waster.

3.) 28 May 2024 11:32:14
Many players who go to clubs like Manchester United and fail to play anywhere near standard required are as Mallythetally describes total wasters. They have got their big money move with far too much money in wages, and they will usually regard any subsequent move as a step down.

4.) 27 May 2024 23:39:17
Reckon oriley could be one for man u Ed? Appreciate they are a club in upheaval but you could see them building something around a player like matt.

{Ed007's Note - Matt O’Riley (CM/AM) Celtic player being watched by Manchester United and Bournemouth. Prior interest of Leeds and Fulham will go nowhere. Borussia Dortmund sent scouts but have identified a preferred option. Atletico Madrid may return with an offer to buy the player in the summer and should not be discounted.
Now that the season has ended I expect there will be more teams beefing up their interest in MOR and if he catches the eye at the Euros that could drive the interest and hopefully his price up.}
