Why wouldn't we dip into the J league market again, Anderson Lopez, top scorer, Brazilian? Would be affordable? Offer of European football?
1.) 06 May 2025 20:44:01
At the very least we should have a full time Asian football expert keeping tabs on players for us, thing is I think players that done well for us where ange specific picks and obv a few never worked that perhaps where scouted, thing is also the cats out the bag with Japanese players littered across top leagues, Shame if we don’t continue with trying to find more maedas, as we’ve proven or the current players have proven Celtic to be a good destination for them.
2.) 08 May 2025 17:26:37
I agree 100% Jaa11 .
Is it Just me but I think Japanese players in particular especially more attacking players have a very good attitude to the game and are very respectful towards our fans, manager and team - mates .
I will never understand what turned Kyogo’s mind, as his depart mid - season and whilst we still were very much involved in Europe .
To talk about trying to further his Japanese career by playing in a stronger league, didn’t make sense to me, because I think continuing to play for Celtic in Europe would give him better publicity and he would be playing for a team of players that knew him and his playing strengths.

Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson, 20, wants to leave Brighton in January because of a lack of game time.
Interesting 'rumour' this morning. we could do worse than making a loan move? HH.
1.) 23 Nov 2024 10:52:10
Ferguson caught my eye when he scored a Premiership hat trick for Brighton.
He’s a big and powerful lad but I think he will be looking for more game time than Celtic could guarantee him.
2.) 23 Nov 2024 11:49:28
He's a celtic man and we could have signed him. but he's had injury issues but I like him and would definitely take a punt but maybe too rich unless he's nearing end of contract.
31 Dec 2023 08:09:21
After the Euphoria of yesterday its now about the next game and a massive transfer window.
Given our performances of late that was a huge result for us all.
Anyone hear any genuine rumours yday?
Abada and Hetate are like 2 new players (albeit likely to lose Hetate to Asian cup) .
Losing Oh, Yang, Kyogo, Maeda and Hetate leaves some big gaps in our squad (which we should have been planning for) .
Does anyone think Palma might be worth a run as striker!?
Wishing you all a HHappy New Year!
1.) 31 Dec 2023 09:20:03
Hope yesterday doesn't disguise the fact we need quality signings. we are watching.
2.) 31 Dec 2023 10:42:29
I'd sign that big Arbroath ladin the traditional keeper/ striker dual role, good for the Scottish quota too.
3.) 31 Dec 2023 13:15:00
ItsaBhoysThing
I think we have more than a genuine interest in signing Scott McKenna and Shankland.
?.
4.) 31 Dec 2023 18:00:06
I would not mind seeing Mckenna and Shankland brought in and perhaps the boy from Estoril.
21 Feb 2023 09:36:56
Must be a Derby week and a final. Australian 'snout' says Ange gone in the Summer to the PL. Wish as a club we would put this to bed once and for all HH.
1.) 21 Feb 2023 10:03:56
Yes the fact no one has said he's not going anywhere makes you wonder ?.
2.) 21 Feb 2023 10:11:30
Would be a great week to come out and announce ange on a new contract, boost the whole club and shut these rotten rags up for a bit.
3.) 21 Feb 2023 10:27:11
Totally agree. Would he bring so many players over on 5 year deals. then leave? Seems strange.
{Ed007's Note - Ange will have very little, if any, input on contracts. That's up to Nicholson and Chief Financial Officer, Christopher McKay.}
4.) 21 Feb 2023 11:38:22
This Aussie 'snout' obviously not done his homework correctly when making up his story about Ange going to Leeds at end of season, using Harry Kewells link to Leeds as a former player to strengthen the case. Has nobody told him that there is a deep rooted hatred of Harry Kewell amongst Leeds fans after he signed for Galatasaray .
{Ed007's Note - And Leeds are due to announce Javi Gracia as manager.}
5.) 21 Feb 2023 13:03:57
You don’t respond to every Sevco planted bull or you would spend every day doing it. It makes me wonder why anybody thinks we should.
6.) 21 Feb 2023 16:00:18
Is there a Glasgow Derby game on this weekend or something. So many tributes to the tributes by former tributees. Im suprised they haven't said we are in crisis 9 points clear in first final of season, record amount of goals being scored. Yet Mealie Mouths record of 13 or whatever gets mentioned continually. I can't wait for us to truly put them into the ground at the weekend. Really really really want us to pump them again, but I mean 5 or 6 would be just perfect.
7.) 24 Feb 2023 13:51:38
All this media nonsense and the Mooch and former the Rangers players must be making him think what he’s in amongst but hopefully not affecting him enough for that, I think he likes working for Celtic ?.
8.) 25 Feb 2023 16:55:58
As an Aussie - (and I had to create a new account) . and one of the first to say Ange would be a success over here. Andy Maher is a very credible journalist over here. As much as I hate to admit it - no smoke without fire.
9.) 25 Feb 2023 18:50:40
I doubt he will go in the summer this year, he may do next year. Unless a big big club comes in for him. Think he would like another crack at the CL and try show some progression. He'll get better offers if we have a good Euro campaign.
10.) 26 Feb 2023 10:46:38
I'm not buying any of it, it has come from the mouths of people who really don't have the inside track, or connections, it's just clickbait and wishful thinking from those who support the dead, as they know mealie mouth is no match for Ange. Let's just concentrate and pumping the dead today, winning the treble and Ange leading us in CL.
23 Dec 2022 22:12:45
Makoto Mitsuta and Cho Gue Sung incoming? HH.
1.) 24 Dec 2022 17:54:11
Been reported its Tomoko Iwata and he also looks a player.
2.) 25 Dec 2022 13:14:31
That the boy av read about.
3.) 25 Dec 2022 13:16:23
Apparently he's versatile but his best position is cb.
4.) 26 Dec 2022 12:29:36
Yeah pretty much all media outlets in Japan have confirmed Iwata will join on loan in January then move permanently in the summer for just under 1m.
Best position is a defensive mid, that’s where he mostly plays according to that American journalist guy who’s based there, (Dan orlowitz I think) but Iwata can also play centre back and as a full back.
Could be another steal if I’m honest and a very shrewd buy by ange, he’s fine tuning the squad and loading it with quality over quantity, ideguchi will most likely leave in January and abildgaard hasn’t really kicked a ball yet so can’t see him signing permanently if ange isn’t that keen on him. McCarthy will also probably leave next month or in the summer so it’s extra cover for mcgregor and mooy in that anchor position going forward.

My final points on yday
That bench minus Idah and maybe Yang (and some might include Idah) , is like something from a Hibs / Aberdeen bench tbh - how did that happen ?
Yet again GB being mistreated and our form drops, it's no coincidence and board stays silent
Yet again Brendy doesn't adapt tactics to meet or beat their physicality and press (why not Atlanta style tactics? ) arrogance or what is it?
And final point. not replacing Kyogo v them having a hammerhead who can score was the difference. who's to blame for that one
We won't have the personnel to change v them at Ibrokes but the summer must be on adding depth, quality and some bloody physicality to the squad as watching light players getting pushed off in a derby is NEVER accepted HH.
1.) 17 Mar 2025 10:17:42
Selling Kyogo and not replacing him did play a role yesterday, as did loaning Holm and not replacing him. This played a part in having an under strength bench yesterday. We all knew about the striker but not many saw the need to replace Holm as he had not featured. Personally speaking I think you should have at a minimum of 2 players for every position but we did not have that in midfield when Holm left. We get 2 injuries and that led to us not having a replacement. I am sure our midfield would have been freshened yesterday if we had an experienced player on the bench.
However, the centre backs was just unlucky as we got 2 CBs out at the same time, which meant the first choice and back up were injured. Hence the reason for Nawrocki playing and Murray being on the bench.
2.) 17 Mar 2025 11:24:55
Yesterday’s bench was as it was because of the absence of Scales, Trusty, Forrest, McGregor and Bernardo from the squad… little to do with anything else.
3.) 17 Mar 2025 15:37:39
You are always going to have injuries and that is why you need a minimum of 2 players for each position.
I agree that Murray and Nawrocki came into the picture because Trusty and Scales were injured.
However, if we had signed a striker, Kenny would not have been on the bench and we would have likely had either the new striker or Idah on the bench and Jota and Yang on the bench for wingers, with Maeda starting out wide.
Also Bonnar or Turley would not have been on the bench if we had signed someone to replace Holm and we would have likely rotated our midfield during the game as we would have had an extra body. Loaning Holm out meant that we only had 5 midfielders, so did not have 2 for each position.
4.) 17 Mar 2025 16:16:51
The kids will never get a chance. right? We can't have it both ways. Either a strong bench worth millions or throw a kid in at the deep end. Would any of those kids make us worse yesterday? NO.
5.) 17 Mar 2025 17:47:54
I don’t think u can blame Board for our bench as BR has taken full responsibility for final say on transfers . . We don’t always have 2 very good centre midfielders and two very good centre backs out injured at same time
Many of those who seem to regard themselves as a very good judge are first to shout for players not on first team, to be sent out on loan . Although we have by far the best coach of young players in Scotland, we take our best young players and scatter them around UK and Europe. . About 1% ever play for Celtic .
Our bench wasn’t great, but haven’t said that Ralston Taylor, Yang and Idah have all played very well for us at some time this season.
6.) 17 Mar 2025 22:29:41
I would have Kenny on the bench in front of Idah, I think he is a more natural striker.
7.) 18 Mar 2025 12:52:56
Aindoh, Kenny may have shown that he is a natural scorer in the green and white Hoops of Shamrock Rovers but it is a bit early to claim that when he is in the green and white hoops of Celtic he is a more natural striker than Idah .
I would wait until he has at least scored a goal before making that claim.
16 Mar 2025 18:09:19
So a major case of deja vu against the noisey neighbours!
Poor start yet again, midfield battle lost while their press for some reason forced us into really poor decision making. Maeda and Rocki got pass marks for me, Engels and Hetate tried but as poor a game as I've seen from the others. Idah definitely gave us the vocal point we needed.
So. are we overhyped, underhyped, too complacent, running out of steam from season, heads being turned for summer?
When you look at the 2 benches today and what we would have had even with Ange in terms of impact, there's clear strengthening needed, especially when 1 or 2 injuries causes a dip like today.
HH.
10 Jan 2025 22:24:02
Schmeichel
AJ
CCV
Trusty
Taylor
Calmac
Bernardo Engels
Kyogo Idah McCowan
My team tomorrow HH.
1.) 10 Jan 2025 22:47:14
Put Cummings in, instead of Idah, if he is available.
02 Jan 2025 20:34:13
No excuses today, the hungrier team won, seemed more than an off day when you see so many off it? Attitude, prep, tactics wrong? Almost looked like we thought let's not lose as opposed to let's try and win.
For me the target today was their makeshift defence and GK, so why not go with Idah and Kyogo off him? A more solid midfield of 3 then and the 2 wide men? Without a Scott Brown type, then we should have adapted to go longer ball as they were always going to press us aggressively higher up the pitch, and yet we passed into that area so much and our wingers turned into their press so many times.
25 odd million sitting on bench from summer?
We need a new Brown type player
We need a new Rogic type to unlock defences and play in the pocket.
We need a new LB
Kvitsgarden?
KT?
Trusty was flying in Europe. comes back into the team.
Boot up the ass as complacency and taking foot off the gas isn't on at our club, we can lose games, but not in that manner.
Back at it Sunday HH.
23 Dec 2024 09:32:46
Very unlikely to happen given our typical transfer strategy (and cost) but I do feel that within our model should be consideration for a decent more experienced player I. e. Schmeichel type!
KT could be the exception, the other very ambitious one is Callum Wilson. For me the exact type of striker we need. free transfer in Summer, a Ledley type deal in terms of decent sign on and fit into wage structure?
1.) 23 Dec 2024 11:40:37
Was thinking that myself this morning but like KT big wages and unlucky with injuries. mb Buzz could answer this 1 Miovski (ano ?) doesn’t seem to b evn naking the bench with Girona and has only scored 2 in 12 is he injured or just dropped mate.
2.) 23 Dec 2024 13:37:50
Miovski has an ankle injury.
He did seem to get his game with Girona by playing mostly about 70 minutes per match.
He’s only scored in one league match but got a double and he also scored a double in the Spanish Cup.
I noticed he missed a penalty in a CL match which is unlike him because he had a great record with. Aberdeen.
3.) 23 Dec 2024 14:25:46
Thanks mate a was hoping for a wee cheeky loan bid in January if he wasnt getting game time.

Abada?

Both too hopeful?
Get them both.
The left back
Van der Beek
Hopeful I know!
Would keep me Happy until Summer. HH.
{Ed007's Note - Kvistgaarden is honking! He's scored 7 league goals in 46 appearances in the Danish league, we're talking another Rasmussen level type of signing here imo and if the reported fee of €6 - €8.5 million is correct Celtic should give this idea a serious wide berth. I'd take Shankland over him any day and every day.}
21 Feb 2023 10:27:11
Totally agree. Would he bring so many players over on 5 year deals. then leave? Seems strange.
{Ed007's Note - Ange will have very little, if any, input on contracts. That's up to Nicholson and Chief Financial Officer, Christopher McKay.}
29 Dec 2022 20:44:50
Going by who we are linked to and if any truth in the stories you'd think that the club is future planning for bids for; Jura, GG, O Reilly? With departures of Gucci and Mc Carthy looking certain too.

02 Jan 2025 20:23:41
And he was right that they should have been targeted as with their Gk. would it have been so bad to go 2 up top and more direct?!
18 Feb 2024 05:28:48
Respect your opinion ed, few points to qualify.
Most leagues aren't won now i agree, Scotland however is a 2 horse race, one of which is winning consistently. We have more difficult games to come than a well organised Killie at home. If players are 'nervous ' as being quoted, how do we fare at a full Ibrox? Finally,13 games to go and we are still waiting on our World class manager to get a tune from us for a run of games, yes signings been poor, lawell out etc but the difference this season will be the 2 managers. One inherited a mess and has found a solution, the other hasn't (consistently) . I hope you're right Ed and will keep the faith. HH.

Going by those figures it looks like only 16million owed then? Pending court cases of course but that would be classified manageable debt I'd have thought? Let's see if they can cope with living within their means now UeFa tightening their grip.
