I have been watching Ntcham and to be honest i have yet to see anything outstannding from him, I know it is very early days but i wonder if he is getting game time because BR paid so much for him.
I feel sorry for some of the young home grown players who do not get a real chance at times. Henderson Lindsey and others must get deflated when they get ignored no wonder the leave.

Not down on the boy as he looks a decent player. but with koussi (who i thought looked better in the friendlies ) already here i thought it a strange signing as ntcham kouassi and brown all play a similar role . i agree that our boys seem to be overlooked . without a chance we don't know how good they can become . i agree he doesn't look any better than Henderson.

N'tcham from what i have seen is a cross between brown and armstrong. he is strong, quick over 15 yards, quick passing and can thread a pass, although he has to work on his long range passing. he also has good feet and a fantastic enginge.

N'tcham will shine in europe, especially tight or away games. with regard to an advanced role and an attacking threat, then we will have to wait and see, but he has the attributes to be a very direct att mid as well as a dynamic cm.

reminds me of seedorf a little, build, movement and high tempo.

Don't know how you say he will shine in Europe, is better to wait for him to do it first, rather than big him up to soon, would rather get the SA thing sorted, and give Ntcham, s bit more time,

His touch and vision with a pass are something we've not seen in the hoops in a long, long time. This lad is the real deal.

Dont think he gave the ball away once against the wee huns i like the look of him.

07 Aug 2017 08:49:33
ntcham looks good and armstrong is not playing like he did last season i know its just started but he seems preoccupied and kouassie is just in the wrong place at this time if brown is out for any reason i would expect him to be tried but its possible he won't stay to much longer.

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Aug 2017 09:03:49
Have to disagree he makes things look easy he has a great 1st touch, plays the ball well and if you look at Saturdays game he was always in the space covering for Brown when needed. He's only been here a month and has settled in very well.

Agree2 Disagree1

07 Aug 2017 11:55:07
Obviously it's very early days and we haven't seen enough of him yet but my concern is if Armstrong leaves - we lose a good few goals from midfield - as apart from wee McGregor (and Rogic when he's actually fit) the others may only score an handful between them?
If any new arrival worries me it's Hayes, as I think he is no better than Forrest, not a patch on wee Paddy Roberts and definitely not a better prospect than young Christie, who could really enhance the squad we have.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2017 11:59:24
I wouldn't judge ntcham too early, last season I wasn't overly impressed with Dembele in his early games and he turned out okay.
The thing that amazes me though, is how players can be worth £4.5m when they have played none or very little first team football.
Sadly, with the Neymar transfer, fees are only going to get even more ridiculous.

{Ed007's Note - Ntcham played over 40 games for Genoa whilst on a 2-year loan there, Gerry and still had 3 seasons to run on his City contract. English clubs were being quoted £6 million and European clubs were being told Ntcham would cost 5 million Euros as long as they allowed City to have a buy-back clause or 7 million Euros to buy him outright.}

07 Aug 2017 12:13:48
Agree 100% with you Stan, he's neat and tidy and will improve as time goes on and he becomes fully settled.

Am I right in saying Jozo had not played much football before we signed him?

If we are signing 19 / 20 / 21 year olds and clubs are " Stock piling " players, looks like that is our business model people need to get a reality check IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Simunovic had played 75 games for Dinamo Zagreb mate.}

07 Aug 2017 14:14:07
Fair enough ED, I stand corrected.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's peanuts really when you see what players are going for down south - £250k for Waghorn(pen) is absolute madness!}

07 Aug 2017 14:53:18
I don't agree with that one either, he made it look easy against Hearts and strolled about like Van Dijk used to. There have been a couple of overhit long passes as he settles in, but when he does I think we will see a great player, I thought some of his attacking passes from deep were great, and it seemed like the Hearts players were just bouncing off him at times.

07 Aug 2017 16:04:54
Surprised Big Jozo had played as much as that Ed if honest knew he had came up from under 21's and then played a bit and then started picking up niggles

No wonder they are marking up there deals undisclosed @ ibrokes two of there star turns in him and McKay away for less than 800k! It's peanuts when you look at Boro are spending etc (Y)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Remember Simunovic was a league invincible in Croatia as well.}

07 aug 2017 17:48:01
Time bhoys! The lad has just arrived at the team and needs to get up to speed with the Scottish game. He is already showing signs of how good a player he is but he is still a wee bit rough round the edges. I remember a certain Mr Larsson was a wee bit rough as well for a few games! I'm more concerned that Kouassi isn't up to speed yet given the time he's been here. We need our new midfielders to gel soon as I am convinced Armstrong doesn't want to be here and will be off.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2017 18:34:31
Is that right Ed (Invincible) I never knew that

Impressive, Cannot be many in the game that has a DOUBLE Invincible on there CV never mind at the grand old age of 23? (Y)

{Ed007's Note - Lustig done it as well with Rosenborg in 2010 and obviously Kolo Toure done it with Arsenal in 2004.}

I see the Charity Shield went to penalties and they adopted the new ABBA format for taking them. Any thoughts on the system Bhoys and Ghirls? (seems a fairer one to me anyway)

The system is based on the format used in tennis tie-breaks, with the team taking the first kick in each pair of kicks alternating, so AB BA AB BA and so on instead of AB AB AB AB etc.

Agree6 Disagree0

07 Aug 2017 16:20:30
Don't understand it at all. The thinking was about all the pressure being on the second team, and this new way makes it fairer for the second team. Garbage theory and a garbage solution it solves one problem but makes another. Pointless.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2017 17:24:02
It looked stupid to be honest and killed the contest/ art of the pressure of the shoot out because one team missed twice in succession, took away the theatre of it IMO

Few stupid things in our game but no need to mess with penalty shoot out (Y)

I don't understand this talk about Armstrong. He will be away after qualifiers i've know doubt. Didn't Brendan say no first team players will leave until after qualifiers. In any case we've ample replacement s for his position. I'm not worried although it will be nice if he signed up.

Reckon he should be punted, even with short amount left on contract, the club should still run a pretty tidy profit on him. Shame as I reckon a new deal at Celtic and a couple of Euro campaigns would do his cause for a move to Europe a lot more good than the potential relegation battle/ promotion bid he could well end up with.

07 Aug 2017 00:14:39
totally agree, good player made good by BR. Let him go and learn the EPL is not all that it is made out to be. The grass is very rarely greener, get decent cash and reinvest. Bigger and better have left and we have survived.

Right
Players you thought were underrated while playing for the club.
I'll go with 2 right backs
Hinkle good solid defender and got forward
Telford nothing fancy done his job, not many goals or crosses got in fae his side. Also let naka concentrate on going forward.

While most Celtic fans loved him, I don't think Paul Lambert gets enough recognition beyond our club. He was immense for us.

06 Aug 2017 19:44:18
I always enjoyed watching Morten Weighorst and Phil O'Donnell at times they made football look so simple. Jiri Jarosik also a player I liked very inconsistent yet at times he was class. Magic Zurawski had some great moments too. One player that didn't last long at CP was Efrain Juarez he's one player I reckon would have excelled under someone like BR.

06 Aug 2017 20:11:10
Daviebhoy me and ed007 rave about Lambert all the time.
He is one of Scotland's finest midfielders of all time.
The only reason he doesn't get spoke about is because he played for us.
Stan I am sure Juarez ended up in trouble due to mental problems.

06 Aug 2017 12:23:27
As much as I want Armstrong to stay I don't think his current form warrants a start I'd stick with Ntcham and McGregor for the next 3 games v Kilmarnock Partick and Astana. We need to be at our best and as I said yesterday McGregor is looking a class act his entire game improves by the week, Ntcham was very impressive yesterday his passing and movement alongside Brown was exceptional. I hope the situation with Armstrong doesn't go on too much longer everyone can see it's affecting his game and this needs to be put to bed one way or another so we as a club can move on. If he stays great, if he goes so be it we have the players to replace him.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

06 Aug 2017 13:06:06
Well put Stan, I agree with all of that really. All I'd add is that I'd actually be looking to move him on now. I really wouldn't like this window to pass and SA has neither signed a new deal or been sold. It'll be in his interest to sign a pre-contract as he'd have more options. That is not how I'd like to see such an important attacking element leave. Whilst I think the players here can do a job. I'd want us to get some funds from SA and inject some quality in attack.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2017 13:28:25
def needs sorting out armstrong for me was player of the year, ntchiam may look like he's coming on to a game but seems a completely different player if u ask me. Armstrong is the closest we've had to petrov his energy and eye for goal when he's on form is needed particularly with the way we play against teams with 10 behind the ball.

Agree2 Disagree1

06 Aug 2017 13:45:16
It's a difficult one gents I wouldn't like the transfer window to close with him not having signed an extension it doesn't leave us with many cards in our hand other than to hope he will sign between Sept-Dec and I can't see that happening. Would be a big boost going into the Euro game if he signs up. Id be more than happy with him signing a 2 year extension. Let' hope there's progress this week.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Aug 2017 15:37:38
Ntcham will be a vital player away from home in Europe because he likes to pick a pass from deep so we can keep our shape whereas Armstrong is a runner with a great engine who's more suited to when we're the team on top.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2017 15:58:44
Good post and bang on the money. I'm a massive SA fan and would love him to stay, but it is looking increasingly unlikely. He isn't at the races at the minute and that must be down to the uncertainty about his future. He doesn't warrant a starting place. In the grand scheme if things he has given us a great 6 months in the space of 2 years. If he isn't going to sign then sell him.
