A bit under the radar signing but Celtic have now signed 17yr West Ham defender Justin Osagie. Fighting off interest from championship clubs aswel Justin can etheir play for England or Nigeria and has represented England at youth level. This is a big signing for our youth academy and comes highly recommended down south.

1.) 25 Jul 2022 15:43:43
At last a bit of class in the Academy, will make a lovely change. We might even see him play for the team. If he’s got it that shouldn’t be long, if he hasn’t it will he the same as most, a couple of sub appearances then never seen again. It’s the way we roll.

2.) 25 Jul 2022 18:57:32
Magicpole, I agree and disagree with what you say.
If our past is anything to go by then the lad will breeze in and probably breeze out again because that's what has happened with a lot of our young talent.
I do think however that Ange is beginning to put a lot more emphasis on our B team with the appointment of Stan as coach. Many may see it as a demotion for him but in many ways it can be viewed as a promotion as it means he'll be in a position to make a very positive difference in an area where we have been lacking for so long. HH.

3.) 25 Jul 2022 19:35:59
Time will tell, let's Hope he makes it, make a change.

4.) 26 Jul 2022 11:33:21
Bestbhoy the Academy needs a drastic shake up. One player who holds down a position every ten years is a effin joke. I watched the B team highlights and have to be honest and say they not two looked to have a chance and even then they won’t make it, not with us anyway. We produce eff all. Right now only McGreggor is an automatic first team pick. Our Academy is a monumental underperforming farce and has been for 30 years. Ange needs to read the riot act.

5.) 26 Jul 2022 13:21:55
Welsh, Forrest, Mcgregor and Ralston all first team players or at least in the squad, as well as MJ, sold Tierney for a scottish record. Not sure how that can be seen as a farce.

6.) 27 Jul 2022 09:06:53
That’s five players in over a decade. If you don’t think that’s a farce crack on. Do you work at the Academy?

{Ed007's Note - Or about 1 every 2 years. There's clubs out there spend a tonne more money than us on youth development don't have that number of players in their squad.
I agree it's not ideal but you have to look at the bigger picture, Lennon had no interest in the youth players and KT and McGregor would have been sold or even just let go if he had stayed. Ronny came in and he did like to plan a future where youths would be given a chance but his name wasn't fancy enough and he was forced out and then The Messiah arrived.
Brendan Rodgers was, is and always will be a chequebook manager with no interest in youth development and "Brendaned" more than one youngster's career at Liverpool and when he scuttled out the back door we went full circle and arrived back at Lennon.
In the past 10 years until Ange we only had one manager who had any real inclination to promote youth players. We've recently lost youngsters to Liverpool and Bayern Munich so it's not as if the talent and quality isn't there, politics, egoes etc all come into play and under many of our managers there is no clear pathway or route to the first team. If Ronny had been here longer I have no doubt there would have been more success in youth development and I fully expect that to be the case under Ange over the next couple of seasons.
Everything needs to align with different departments working together for youth development to work and probably a wee bit of luck helps.
Look at Stephen Welsh, he's deemed by clubs to be good enough to play in England, France and Italy but we've got Celtic fans writing him off, where's Andy Robertson and young Hickey now?
The academy is and will get an overhaul but you can't blame the Academy as such, like so many mistakes over the last decade or so has to be laid at the door of Peter Law well and the biggest mistake he made was not appointing a DOF or someone to oversee the entire footballing department and ensure everything was running smoothly and in tandem.}

7.) 27 Jul 2022 11:13:20
How many players have our direct rivals produced from their academy in that time magicpole?

{Ed007's Note - Probably more than us, BB but that comes down to necessity rather than choice imo. We've always got money to spend and a lot of fans demand that. Look at the reaction to Welsh or the suggestion that Kenny - a player the same age as Abada when he joined - could be our 3rd choice striker, maybe even 4th behind Maeda.
Fans in general simply don't give young players a chance, we've had posts writing off Bosun Lawal after him playing minutes in a preseason friendly.
Imagine the reaction to Henrik's first couple of games if the internet had been as easily accessible back then? ?

Was looking at transfer news in Portugal. This loan deal for Jota looks like it is done or will be done soon. A years loan and medical will be done in Portugal to speed up transfer.

Cork paul

1.) 28 Aug 2021 17:18:06
Paul, would he need to quarantine as well?

2.) 28 Aug 2021 17:21:11
Is there a option to buy within this deal? Don't mind loans as long as we have the option to buy after helping a player improve.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 17:48:13
Nothing to stop us making a bid.

4.) 28 Aug 2021 18:47:14
I would be very happy with this deal, the boy is a very good player and will tear it up here.

5.) 28 Aug 2021 19:39:28
Looks like he oozes confidence. Hopefully his decision making and end product kicks in with us.

6.) 28 Aug 2021 21:52:57
I would say he would have to quarantine alright. At the moment I've only read about a loan deal. But you never know what is going on in negotiations. There a few teams in spain and Italy interested aswel.

16 Aug 2021 13:27:33
Celtic have beaten Southampton to the signature of Liam Scales. A 600k offer has been accepted by Shamrock Rovers and Liam Scales is due for talks with Celtic. This is what I'm hearing.

Cork paul

1.) 16 Aug 2021 14:35:36
Read that earlier paul, is he a left cb who can play lb paul, and is he any good.

{Ed007's Note - Don't you listen to the podcasts? 😁

2.) 16 Aug 2021 15:19:37
Excellent piece of business Celtic; well done.

3.) 16 Aug 2021 15:20:40
Why has he got to wait till the end of the month to join?

4.) 16 Aug 2021 15:37:17
Because Celtic have agreed to let him stay with Shamrock Rovers to help them qualify for group stage of Conference league. He is mostly a left wing back, who can play CB and LB Mally.

5.) 16 Aug 2021 16:02:57
Don't know how Ed HH.

{Ed007's Note - 👍

6.) 16 Aug 2021 16:05:22
Thanks Paul. av listened mate a might have missed that piece tho 🤣👍.

{Ed007's Note - 😁😋

7.) 16 Aug 2021 20:31:02
So if we sign this boy what do yous think will happen with Montgomery? Will he be loaned out or ordrop to the youth setup? The boy is talented and needs game time. Maybe a loan to his if Doig leaves?

8.) 17 Aug 2021 00:04:48
He should be loaned out to a spl club at the least.

03 Aug 2021 21:03:12
An unnamed Premier league team scouted Liam Scales tonight for shamrock Rovers tonight in Champions league game. After their scouts saw him a bid by the Premier league club has being submitted. This is the calibre of the player Celtic could get. And if we have to use DD to get this player then DD get this deal ASAP as other clubs are now on the case.

Cork paul

1.) 03 Aug 2021 21:20:00
Is he a good player Paul?

2.) 03 Aug 2021 21:32:01
Yes Ken, this lad is the hotest talent in the league of Ireland at the moment. His rise to the player hasn't being unnoticed as I said ina previous post Championship teams and Premier teams have been Scouting him for some time. For Celtic to get him now would be a great addition to the squad. But we need to act now as from what I'm hearing in Ireland is there are as many of 5 Premier league teams interested in him.

3.) 03 Aug 2021 21:32:07
He is very highly rated kev and a stand out in the league. The fact a Premier league team have made a bid tells the story.

4.) 03 Aug 2021 21:32:09
Must have came over in their Delorean cause the Shamrock Rovers game is Thursday and it’s a conference league qualifier.

5.) 03 Aug 2021 21:47:26
Nobody scouted Liam Scales tonight. Shamrock Rovers don’t play until Thursday.

6.) 03 Aug 2021 21:50:04
It was last week so TB he was watched my apologies if I got the match day wrong but the bid was made today and I thought match was on today when I was reading up about it.

7.) 03 Aug 2021 22:00:09
Bhoys, I wouldn't be worrying too much about any other side coming in for Liam Scales as DD owns 25% of Shamrock Rovers.

8.) 03 Aug 2021 22:05:36
Got my dates wrong about the match guys, he was actually watched on last Friday against St Patrick's Alectic. And bid came in today. Unfortunately I only follow Cork City and we are league one at the moment. I rang a friend of mine who is big fan of league of Ireland and he said yes Celtic have made a bid but another bid from unnamed Premier league club came in today for. Any more details I get I will post it.

9.) 03 Aug 2021 22:16:51
That's what I'm saying Pedro if DD has to do the deal then do it. But some folks saying then that it's DD signing the player and not Ange. If DD has to do the deal it's good enough for me. I really don't mind who is doing deals at the moment once we get players. I'm hearing it's Ange, DOM with help from DD.

10.) 03 Aug 2021 23:31:06
That makes sense Paul, I doubt Ange or Dom will know players from the Emerald Isle as well as DD.

If the lad is good let's get him signed. I read they're talking about 500K, so the money is not an issue.

11.) 03 Aug 2021 23:54:24
Agree Pedro 100%.

12.) 04 Aug 2021 09:28:08
Would this guy get in our first team.

06 Apr 2021 21:48:39
I wouldn't put my money on Howe yet lads. Keane stories are hotting up here in Ireland. He did supposenly have a meeting with DD and is very interested in the job. So I wouldn't hold our breathes just yet on Howe.

Cork paul

1.) 06 Apr 2021 21:50:50
No chance, we will be getting Kennedy. : (.

2.) 06 Apr 2021 22:14:21
Keane story just isn't going away LAW. AT this stage it wouldn't surprise me.

3.) 06 Apr 2021 22:34:30
We'll see. Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.
What's more important is that we don't get hyped up by the media. None of them know anything, and that's GUARANTEED. How do I know that? Well it's common sense guys because if any of them did know anything for sure they'd be shouting it from the rooftops and claiming to own the story.
Everything we're seeing is opinions and unnamed sources and stupid bollox being quoted by individuals who want to use the story to draw attention to themselves.
Do not be fooled by their rubbish. HH.

4.) 06 Apr 2021 22:41:26
Very true bestybhoy.

5.) 06 Apr 2021 23:59:10
Oh aye Paul ate u on the whined up lol.

6.) 07 Apr 2021 00:30:06
Guys have some consideration for our my mental health and blood pressure. :P.

7.) 07 Apr 2021 00:56:26
Do you think Paul it is the DOF or someone for that type of role is holding up this. Lots of talk howe wants Hughes of Bournemouth to come. Harkins was seemingly near done if reports were to be believed. Or is there more to it.

8.) 07 Apr 2021 08:59:34
Guys, I’m new year, always reading messages on here and wished I could reply but didn’t have an account. We need to back the club regardless of Manager, DOF etc. We have had 10 favourites, the bookies have made £10000s off us just on manager bets. If I placed £100 on Micky Mouse he would be in the running. My own thoughts for months is Keane DOF and the Manager as Howe but this is only an opinion.

9.) 07 Apr 2021 09:12:12
The longer the negotiations go on, the more fake news and mischief making speculation there will be. However, it would all go away if and when the club have something to report.

10.) 07 Apr 2021 12:38:56
Very true OAB2 👍.

11.) 07 Apr 2021 21:40:35
I'm getting fed up with will he be joining or not, the board will make the decision and announce it when they are good and ready to do so.

Buzz here's one for you. Celtic have been on top of the league since match day 1 this season and have remained there all season. It looks likely they will be top aswel at the end. Has this ever been done in football before.

Cork paul

1.) 18 Apr 2023 21:53:58
Paul,
I don’t think Celtic have ever managed it.

Celtic have now been top for 47 league games in a row, since we beat Sevco 3-0 last February.

I also don’t think Celtic have won every home match in the league either, not since there was a decent amount of clubs in the league.
We probably done it about 120 years ago, when we only played about 10 league matches at home.

They are brilliant records In hopefully a remarkable season ?.

2.) 18 Apr 2023 23:03:53
Another milestone set by this Celtic team and Ange Buzz. That's some record been on of the league since match day 1. It's really true that Glasgow is Green and white.

23 May 2022 16:41:50
Well done to Anthony Ralston for being called up to the Scotland squad for the national games. World Cup play-Off against Ukraine and the Nations league games. No other Scottish deserves it more than Ralston.

Cork paul

1.) 23 May 2022 19:48:40
When we gave him a contact extension it was more out of need than ability. He was only RB at club, since then the boy has turned his whole career around. From not holding down a place at Dundee Utd to Scotland cap. Superb Anthony ????.

Tony's hard work, determination and desire have paid off.

08 Mar 2022 12:55:34
Question for you all, with Scott Brown considering his future at Aberdeen because his coaching role is being limited since Jim Goodwin arrived. Should Celtic consider him as a player coach as a back up player to first team and let him concentrate more on a coaching role under Ange guidance.

Cork paul

1.) 08 Mar 2022 13:33:09
Coaching role for me, he's not an Ange forward thinking player. Amazing player and captain for us but his playing days for us are past. Goodwin clearly sees no role for him in coaching at the sheep so come home and look ahead to managing the club you love a few years down the line.

2.) 08 Mar 2022 13:33:42
If he was to come back Paul it can only be in a coaching role. We have enough players available in that position.

{Ed007's Note - It's a massive no for me, Ter - what would Brown bring to the coaching staff and if he was brought in would that be Ange's choice or are we going back to jobs for the boys?}

3.) 08 Mar 2022 14:20:02
I agree Ed.
Need to et head rule heart sometimes.
Broony has been a great servant to Celtic.
He has also been well paid and achieved a lot of things with us and is rightly considered as a legend by many here.
Maybe further up the road he could return.

4.) 08 Mar 2022 14:57:33
Maybe Aberdeen are cost cutting.

5.) 08 Mar 2022 15:20:10
I believe he'll come back some day but now isn't the time. He still has too big an effect on most of the current players to be employed in a minor role and he doesn't have the coaching experience yet to make the required impact on the first team.
We're not doing too badly with the set up we have so there would be no benefit for anyone just now. Let him go to a 2nd or 3rd tier club and see what he can do, and if he impresses then he'll come back on merit and not sentimentality. HH.

6.) 08 Mar 2022 16:42:55
The only coaching role at Celtic, that should be available to Brown is one of the youth teams. Similar to what McManus, O'Dea and Maloney have done in the past. Not gd enough to play or coach the first team.

7.) 08 Mar 2022 17:02:31
No.

☘️ ☘️ ☘️.

8.) 08 Mar 2022 17:52:23
He could still give the foreign experience a go. Wanyama is still over in us I think. Not for me for us.

9.) 08 Mar 2022 18:50:24
I seen it suggested that he could perhaps go to Cyprus with Lennon as a player/ coach. I think that could be a good move for him to gain experience. I'd love to see him back one day, but as mentioned already, it would have to be on merit and when the time is right.

10.) 08 Mar 2022 23:06:41
If he is wise he will give Lenny a wide berth. He can only learn bad habits there. Far better to go and work with his old mentor, wee Gordon at Dundee . and then, maybe . depending on wether or not he can get the Lennyisms out of his system as well as finding a bit of Ange style humility, he can maybe find a role at Celtic.
?.

He was on a podcast called The United stand not so long telling United supporterDarwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiros will be signing for Manchester United. 1 week later he signed for Liverpool, I stopped following him months ago because he is an attention seeker to get onto podcast down south and is trigger happy about rumours on twitter. I certainly don't believe it. One he never mentioned any club and said.

Is Tobi good enough? . Played at every level with England youth system. Spurs were gutted that young Tobi left at the age of 16. A great young talented modern goalkeeper. Excellent distribution with his feet, handling and shot stopping is Excellent. A raw talent when Celtic snapped him up and his stats now at the age of 19 are vastly improving every year. Last season Ange said Tobi has being brought up to first team squad to learn from Hart and Steve Woods. Hart said Tobi is the best young keeper he seen ina long time. Ange said Tobi is going to be a top keeper. So we have a top young keeper who I believe will be our no1 in time but what will happen to Tobi if we sign Seagrist. I know he will be playing for Colts but his development with the first squad might be jeopardise if he won't be ard the squad to train with Hart and woods. Many clubs in championship and premier league are watching him. Spurs still feel hurt by his departure have watched last season and hope his old brother Joshua who's their U-21s keeper might persuade him back to the club. Tobi recently called up to England u19s and U21 squad aswel will be in the shop window for clubs down south . I really hope Ange and Celtic have a plan for Tobi and have already sat him down and explained why we are signing Seagrist because if we lose him and I stand by this comment . He will be the biggest Youngster to leave Celtic because of our failure to promote him up the ranks. And don't give me this crap he might not be good enough. He is better than barkas, Bain and Hazzard. In a another year or two better than Hart and Seagrist. That's how highly I rate him. I've been watching his development since he joined us and I was a goalkeeper myself for years.

Ken, Mark is going to be another cracking young player to come through the the Brighton youth system Following in the footsteps of young Ferguson. Signed from a Local Cork team Careigaline FC. I'm still very surprised that Celtic don't do much scouting in Ireland anymore because they are cracking young players here been picked up premier league teams in England. You got to hand it to Brighton they have one of the best scouts system in England.
