Anyone else hearing Stuart Armstrong is at cp?

Wulie10

1.) 15 Jul 2019 16:19:21
Only if he left some kit there and is collecting it.

2.) 15 Jul 2019 16:56:42
Hope so love him as a player.

3.) 15 Jul 2019 17:27:51
Wouldn't want Armstrong back. Would ether stick with Christie in there.

4.) 15 Jul 2019 17:34:16
Need more than one Marco. Armstrong is someone we've never replaced properly but can't see this being true.

5.) 15 Jul 2019 17:44:27
Hope it’s true we’ve missed him. Your right Kev, never replaced him properly.

6.) 15 Jul 2019 17:54:14
I would spend the money we got for Stuart Armstrong on Stuart Armstrong.

7.) 15 Jul 2019 18:14:57
He was great coming in from left.

8.) 15 Jul 2019 18:39:22
Gedcelt that was feckin brilliant. Spending the Armstrong money on Armstrong. :)

Nearly choked on my gin you fecker. :)

9.) 15 Jul 2019 19:04:40
I likes Armstrong as a player, however we have Christie. would that impact on him or even more so on Rogic?

10.) 15 Jul 2019 19:28:13
Wouldn't want him anywhere near celtic park, good stamina and a half decent strike but was lazy, cared more about his hair and thought he was too good to be in the team.
We got about a good 6 months out him in the space of 2 and a half years in 2016/ 17 so I think lawwell deserves a medal for negotiationg a 7m deal.
Christie looks a far better player and there's probably far better players out there than Armstrong so we would be going backwards if he ever came here again.

11.) 15 Jul 2019 19:53:12
I'm the same as you greenclover. He had some good games for us but I can't remember him having a few good games in a row!

12.) 15 Jul 2019 21:07:41
Didn't he say he'd never come back to play in Scotland as he found it boring playing the same teams all the time? Sure he said even that he wasn't featuring for Saints he still would never come back to Scotland.

13.) 15 Jul 2019 22:02:02
Guys, get a feckin grip. Armstrong? He left because he didn't want to be at Celtic or any other Scottish team. Just because some nonsense story appears in the media why do so many of you fall for it time after time and start talking shyte about it? HH.

14.) 15 Jul 2019 23:19:45
he was good but not that good plus why take him back when he was desperate to leave.

11 Jul 2019 00:06:18
Tommy smith off to hull.

Wulie10

1.) 11 Jul 2019 04:57:29
Read it was stoke.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 06:21:15
I was happy the club started doing there business early but the non signing of a right back, when we released a couple and Lennie doesn’t obviously fancy Ralston is starting to look amateurish . We can’t keep getting away with playing Ajer there, especially in important games like the qualifiers . Generally mistakes in that competition, even at an early stage like we are in are punished. We all know for the last year or so we needed a new dynamic right back even if mika was to stay but still nothing has been done. After such a long wait for a right back I would want a really good one brought in, Tommy Smith hardly stood out for me anyway, when he wasn’t starting for a relegation favourite he can’t have been all that good . We have waited this long, I’d love a really good one to come in. But we can’t keep waiting as it could cost us the champions league and the riches it brings for us.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 07:35:42
Couldn’t agree more Quinn. I really hope we have a few signings left up our sleeve especially at RB. I didn’t really see much change in how we played on Tuesday night so really need a few bodies to freshen things up.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 09:44:47
Agree Quinn 100%, right back was the priority area and there really should have been a deal done before Lustig and Gamboa left.

It's not a new problem.

Signing up O'Donnell from Kilmarnock looking more likely by the day as paper talk targets keep joining other clubs. Given the relatively small outlay maybe he should be signed and when a first team starter is available from abroad (probably someone we've not heard of) then there's cover/ competition.

I'm liking the French connections at the moment - maybe there's a wee diamond in Ligue 1 that will complement big Jullien well.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 11:14:38
Maybe a bit unfair on the club. The fact that our first 2 choices, Justin and Stacey, both went to the Premiership. Smith looks like going elsewhere also. We are definitely trying hard to get a RB in. Of all the names linked my choice would have been Ankerson but I'm not sure that'll happen either.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 11:47:19
Think that's the problem now though. We aren't going to get our preferred target now. Whoever we fancy for right back now, just go in, offer what the club is asking and stop faffing about. Same with Sawyers, pay the asking price for christs sake. Or is the chance to be history makers not enough for these players? We might not be the pull that we all think our club is to these good but hardly box office potential signings.

7.) 11 Jul 2019 12:42:26
It's now been reported that he hasn't left Austria at all and has been photographed with his teammates at their hotel. What a carry on. I really hope we get a quality RB in soon as this is frustrating.

8.) 11 Jul 2019 14:25:33
I think we all know how obvious it is we need a new right back and we are quite right to question if the work is getting done but just because there hasn't been a signing yet doesn't mean the club aren't trying.
I'm pretty sure Lennon and whoever else is recruiting can see how blatantly obvious it is we need to strengthen but it's not always as straight forward as it seems to get deals done.
We've been linked with 2 guys down south who I'm guessing prefer to stay down there (Stacey and smith) so we have been trying.
Look at this way, the past few years we've barely made any attempt to sign players until the last couple of weeks when it's a risk but we spend 10m in the space of a week before the first qualifier was made so work is getting done.
These games are the hardest I totally agree but we have more than enough quality in the current team to get past the likes of teams in the first 2 rounds.
If we get to the 3rd and play off rounds and still haven't signed a decent right back then Its time to slam the club, until then have faith in Lennon.

9.) 11 Jul 2019 15:39:53
There is absolutey loads of RB's out there who are more than capable if we start looking beyond England.

Just a few players who would be well within our reach at different ages and a few out of contract.

Someone at Celtic park is at it trying to get a RB IMO.

Peter Ankersen (28) - Kobenhavn
Sergey Petrov (28) - Krasnador
Joel Veltman (27) - Ajax
Matthias Zimmermann (27) - Dusseldorf
Petar Stojanovic (23) - Dinamo Zagreb
Joakim Maehle (22) - Genk
Robert Gumny (21) - Lech Poznan
Karol Fila (21) - Lechia Gdansk
Cristian Manea (21) - Apollon Limassol
Mehdi Zeffane (27) - No Club
Gregory van der Wiel (31) - No Club.

10.) 11 Jul 2019 18:24:22
Kinghenrik I think it's plainly obvious that we are looking beyond England for signings seeing as 2 out 3 of our signings have came from beyond England.

11.) 11 Jul 2019 20:24:06
@Kev83 my post is about looking beyond England for a RB.

Justin James
Jake Stacey
George Baldock
Tommy Smith.

12.) 11 Jul 2019 20:59:21
We've also been linked with

Hatem Abd Elhamed
Peter Ankersen
Stephen O'Donnell
Robert Gumny
None of which play in England.

13.) 11 Jul 2019 22:22:25
let’s not argue, right backs are coming, it’s just a matter of time.

28 Jun 2019 14:08:27
Club have rejected a second bid for kt from arsenal. 17.5 with 2.5 in add ons.

Wulie10

1.) 28 Jun 2019 14:42:33
Up to £7.5m on add ons but among them was winning League and another CL - apparently!

2.) 28 Jun 2019 15:44:35
Apparently they had to win the champions league and the prem before we got our 7.5 million 😂.

3.) 28 Jun 2019 16:07:50
Good Lord. We should try that old chest nut ourselves.

4.) 28 Jun 2019 16:22:42
Get them cairted arrogant English do ma nut in.

5.) 28 Jun 2019 18:01:42
It should be our fee or nothing. It's not outrageous to expect top whack for quality. It feels like Arsenal are pinny pinching. They should step aside and allow the big clubs to show their hand.

6.) 28 Jun 2019 18:14:42
Good shout Phil if he's leaving it should be to a better club than them and for top dollar.

7.) 28 Jun 2019 18:19:36
It's infuriating the contempt these EPL teams show us, but when our highest ever export was Dembele last season for £20m (and that was from a top European side) , it's par for the course that they will edge-up the bidding - expecting us to cave, instead of going all-out.

8.) 29 Jun 2019 07:48:41
I can't see KT going to Arsenal, they clearly don't have the money to pay what he's worth, if Leicester sell Chilwell, KT will end up at there.

25 May 2019 12:28:00
See that a bookie has suspended betting on Rafa.

Wulie10

20 May 2019 19:37:06
Some very strong rumors going around now that moyes is the new manager.

Wulie10

1.) 20 May 2019 21:15:13
please please NO NO NO NO NO.

2.) 20 May 2019 23:13:30
Can't be Moyes, He took over n Utd team that was in the running for league title but left them as a sad case.

3.) 21 May 2019 00:00:28
Out of 912 games he's won just over 300 of them. 42% win rate or something he has, not good enough. Moyes will be known as the man who blew the ten.

4.) 21 May 2019 10:41:41
Not saying he's my choice but his record is prob better than van jaal and Jose and wee solkjaer.

5.) 21 May 2019 11:01:39
He’s managed in a very competitive league and probably over produced most of the time.
As for his win rate probably better than most managers who have left Celtic and went on to manage down south.

Think he’d be safe pair of hands but not particularly exciting.

6.) 21 May 2019 15:08:11
Wulie10, I think he'll be the man that blew 9 never mind 10.

7.) 21 May 2019 15:35:53
Moyes was thrown under a bus at Man U. If Lennon is given the job the we won't make it 9.

8.) 21 May 2019 17:11:46
Behave bhoys anyone here could lead us to ten. It’s someone whose going to make us better that we should be looking for but we won’t blow ten.

9.) 21 May 2019 22:46:11
Ronny Deila has better win ratio than Moyes.

10.) 21 May 2019 23:09:58
Not defending Moyes at all and he wouldn't be my choice but to judge on his time at Man Utd would be harsh IMO! It was an impossible task taking over rite after Ferguson and he was given very little time to do the job! Van gall Jose and Solskjaer have proven how difficult a job that is! My main gripe with Moyes is whenever he’s asked about taking over as Celtic manager it’s as if he would be doing us a favour by gracing us with his presence and he mite fancy it if nothing better comes along! He’s won absolutely bugger all and was known at Everton for making his teams hard to beat! Hardly inspiring given the way we want to play! Just something in me tells me he ain’t the right fit to manage our club! Would rather we stuck with Lenny if Moyes coming in is our other option!

11.) 22 May 2019 06:49:11
1st time poster guys, just passing on what I was told.

Tommy Burns' daughter (gaffer in my work) told us that Paul Lawell said Benitez has agreed terms on wages and budget. He's speaking with Newcastle and if he doesn't get what he wants, this week, he will be announced after cup final.

12.) 22 May 2019 11:10:09
Have you not been watching the latest news Andy? Benitez has agreed to stay at Newcastle. HH.

13.) 22 May 2019 12:22:46
Rafa has not said he is staying at Newcastle, talks are still ongoing over transfer budgets and other things.

14.) 22 May 2019 12:56:04
@BobTheCat - I've not seen anything from a reliable source, that indicates or confirms Benitez is staying at Newcastle. He may well do, just passing on the info that I was given.

TB's daughter was openly telling all the lads in work about this and confirmed where she had gotten the info.

Time will tell if it is true I suppose.
HH.

15.) 22 May 2019 21:39:20
Benitez is pie in the sky. Couldn’t think of a less likely candidate other than Klopp or Guardiola. Obviously he’s nowhere near that calibre or manager but would never come as the only way he would be available is if Newcastle board or Ashley more like don’t agree to him being able to spend a certain amount and it been players over a certain age.
Our boards model is very similar but spend even less. He wouldn’t be paid £3m a year either and it would be a disaster if somehow a deal could be struck.
What does he know about buying really cheap players or the Scottish league?
Has to be Lenny nobody else fills me with any optimism Lennon at least knows how to win in Europe and has good transfer record albeit recent performances have been a bit stale.

Does anyone know if Turnbull traveled with the squad today?

Wulie10

1.) 24 Jun 2019 14:33:55
Has he even signed?

19 May 2019 02:12:50
Rafa's family is very settled in the north east I'm hearing and his preference is to stay at Newcastle, but if that doesn't work out it will be Celtic, don't think his family would have to move up here neither. I think Rafa is the man they want but its up to him at the end of the day, plus you can say what you want about Rodgers but the guy was top drawer and the things he did behind the scenes here brought the club forward into the modern era, board won't want to go back to having mediocre old fashioned ways around this club, I'm expecting a top appointment to be made and anything less, well I'm afraid people should be asking serious questions of the people who run the club.

Wulie10

{Ed001's Note - you are talking nonsense. Montse and the kids are in the Liverpool area, nowhere near the north east. She won't move from there no matter where he goes, but that has been the case ever since he was Liverpool manager. Since then he has been to Italy and Spain managing, so it won't stop him moving for the right job. Rafa's preference is to stay in the Prem though.}

1.) 19 May 2019 05:21:09
So what your saying ED001 Rafa won’t be the next Celtic manager then.

{Ed001's Note - not unless Ashley takes the piss in contract negotiations.}

2.) 19 May 2019 06:14:58
I didn’t think but more a wee hope that Celtic could get someone of that pedigree in. Oh well back the way we will go with the usual suspects Moyes Lennon and maybe a couple of foreign names to chuck in if not Lennon can u Ed001 see any other different names to the usual list?

{Ed001's Note - it seems likely to be Lennon now Clarke is not getting it. At least he seems to think he is the frontrunner, but I would assume he has a reason to think so.}

3.) 19 May 2019 07:18:20
Oh well it does look like it’s Lennon so there will be no surprises come end of the season and we will be linked with Lennon old players let’s see?

4.) 19 May 2019 09:49:45
Rodgers domestic success sometimes gets overplayed.

His first season was amazing
Second season there was a huge dip in performance
Third season was the same as his second.

So one great season and two average ones.

However people just say "bbbut we won treble the second year too"

Yes but it was clear to see things had went backwards.

Some of it down to Rodgers not being as great as his reputation. Others down to the board not acquiring the right targets.

5.) 19 May 2019 10:12:17
Tesla did you ever watch the football under Lennon?

No doubt the football wasn’t as good second or third season under Rodgers but we still won everything domestically. The football under Lennon was awful to watch at times but we can’t justify that by saying we still won everything, because we didn’t.

I don’t think Rodgers was perfect either but he was far more successful than Lennon despite Lennon having a free run at everything in Scotland.

6.) 19 May 2019 10:48:18
Take an honest look over the last eight seasons and you will agree that the performances over entire program have had much more highs than lows - especially in the BIG games that counted.
Even The Lions couldn't sustain sparkling football week-in week-out under our greatest ever Boss and we have had four management periods to consider during this run, including the tenure of RD and Collins, which was blotted with some player controversy, an apparent dressing room disruption and a media witch-hunt.

The Invincible season will always stand-out when I would say most of the team hit a very consistent peak of performance; however there have been many 'purple patches' since 2012 where we strung together convincing runs of results to break the back of any of our rivals challenges and assert our domination.
There have obviously been some average and poor games to watch, but the players have to be thanked and applauded for all their efforts - especially this season with all the distractions, hurdles and injuries to overcome and still come out on top!

7.) 19 May 2019 11:01:20
There's no such thing as the perfect manager. Even Big Jock lost games and cup finals. Brendan didn't with Celtic.

8.) 19 May 2019 15:38:49
Have to disagree once a bhoy. For me our only big games is Europe and we have been awful since deila was in charge.

And Inconsistent before that.

Our leagues success is mainly down to having no competition.

Isn't our fault as a club but it makes eras like Rodgers look greater than they were.

Nothing to do with Lennon Andy who also had an easy time domestically for this same reason.

13 May 2019 21:40:41
Chris Houghton been sacked, does anyone think he would be a good choice, I wouldn't mind him and I think you would get him.

Wulie10

1.) 13 May 2019 21:57:56
Think he has a great track record with lower teams in thd pub league.

2.) 13 May 2019 23:28:57
He's not exactly known for attacking football.

3.) 14 May 2019 09:04:37
Why do we have to be attacking?

4.) 14 May 2019 09:25:43
The fact you've asked that question shows how much rubbish you talk.

5.) 14 May 2019 12:08:28
Strachan was more defensive and got to last 16 twice.

Walter Smith for rangers was defensive and got to uefa cup final.

I'm asking what is up with defensive football?

Can u answer that naw?

6.) 14 May 2019 12:48:09
No you asked why we can't play defensive football and if you don't know why Celtic should not play defensive football then you've really no clue about our club.

Strachen was more defensive? With 2 strikers, naka and mcgeady in his teams? Really?

What strachen did was defend when needed but over all his team attacked.

Walter Smith has nothing to do with Celtic so no point even mentioning him.

7.) 14 May 2019 12:52:18
It's boring to watch.

8.) 14 May 2019 13:09:59
At least aindoh is honest in his answer. Basically it's the "Celtic way" patter

Cos we won playing amazing football in 1967.

Aye preferably I'd want to win playing open football.

However it's very changed days for us since 60s and 70s.

Sometimes you need to be realistic like Strachan was and Smith deserves a mention as he overachieved with a Scottish team in Europe also.

Sometimes playing attacking has done us and other side of Glasgow more harm than good in Europe these days.

Le guen, mowbray, caixinha, Rodgers . all humiliated in Europe in more recent times than the 60s/ 70s.

9.) 14 May 2019 14:00:24
Think the point is that Houghton doesn't play offensive football, he plays defensive football, he sets his team up to defend, with the emphasis on defence, not like Jock Steins, the best form of defence is attack.

10.) 14 May 2019 15:21:19
What’s the point of having a defensive team in the Scottish premier, we are always on the attack against most teams ( although not at Ibrox anymore apparently🤢) . Defensively astute when we take part in Europe but def more offensive for the league.

11.) 14 May 2019 16:05:28
Maybe the fact that Chris Houghton was more defence minded is he knew if he went full out attack in that league against better sides who have better players they would be ripped apart like we were under rogers when he tried it in Europe. Who ever comes in will be in charge of the best side in Scotland with the best players so this alone will surley make them more attacking minded you hope. I would definitely like Houghton as a option.

28 Apr 2019 23:54:33
Just a thought. If you offered Aberdeen a point now would they take it? Plus do yous think it will be a good game on Saturday with both teams going for it?, sometimes these games can be a bit poor if both teams settle for the draw,

Wulie10

1.) 29 Apr 2019 07:32:05
Would take a poor game and a draw right now.

2.) 29 Apr 2019 08:06:23
Why would they settle for a draw and we can't play for a draw or we'll get beat.

3.) 29 Apr 2019 19:04:31
I just cannot understand how any Celtic fan thinking that Celtic won't win on Saturday . Aberdeen have a whole lot of injuries and a suspension . They are missing nearly half as many as we are and know before they start that statistically they are likely to lose . I expect Celtic to win and if we happen to lose I will not only be disappointed but also surprised
I think some of our negatives will be delighted if we lose, as they would love to be proven right.

15 Apr 2019 15:38:30
Not Celtic related but I wonder how they will sort out who gets the standing section at cp in the rugby final. I imagine both clubs would want it.

Wulie10

1.) 15 Apr 2019 17:06:02
I know zero about rugby if it's not approved by their association it probably won't be in use. I'm just pissed off its on the same day as the final so we can't party at paradise.

2.) 15 Apr 2019 17:24:19
Wouldn't of thought there would b any segregation, therefor both sets of fans or neutrals could buy them.

3.) 15 Apr 2019 17:47:31
Won't they just fix them in the seated position?

4.) 15 Apr 2019 18:46:12
That’s what tie wraps are for 😎.

24 shots at goal the day, 14 on target. Only thing I would say young timo isn't a 9, oli looks the part through, against better teams timo more of impact player just now.

Wulie10
