Been told Sinclair may be freed if he fails to find new club before deadline passes to try to get him off wage bill. KB a loan deal from LaLiga possibly Getafe due to them only willing to pay half his salary and he is not happy, don't know why he didn't just take wage cut to make deal happen anyway expect to see him exit shortly especially now boy from Southampton has been loaned to us.

1.) 31 Aug 2019 00:58:40
If the club wanted shot of him they shouldn't have activated his extension. He could have left a free agent at the start of the summer and got an English club to pay him a wedge. Why should he take a pay cut?

2.) 31 Aug 2019 01:54:54
We would need to pay substantial compensation to Sinclair to let him go. I don't see him walking away from a healthy contract for nothing.

3.) 31 Aug 2019 02:43:45
There's no way that will happen. We'd have to pay his remaining salary if we released him. Scott's not going to walk away from that money, and why should he? He's being treated terribly and I wouldn't expect him to do us any favours.

4.) 31 Aug 2019 06:35:33
I still don't understand the Sinclair situation. No-one seems to want to explain why he's being treated like shyt. One thing's for sure, when he does go he won't be leaving with pleasant memories of how his time here has come to an end. Shameful stuff Lenny and Celtic or whoever is responsible for this scenario. HH.

5.) 31 Aug 2019 07:35:35
I don't get all this treated terrible thing. He has been in decline, we have all been shouting for youth to be given a chance, he is still being paid and if he was performing better than others he would be in the team. I like him, I think he offers much more than Morgan, so would have him on the bench, but I don't see him in training every day, neither do any of you,

6.) 31 Aug 2019 08:09:56
This can't be right he'll we took long enough to pay compper off.

7.) 31 Aug 2019 10:05:09
Bob, the only thing I can think of is that Lennon told Lawwell he wasn't in his plans but Lawwell assumed there was still a fee to be had by extending his contract. The fee wasn't forthcoming and now he can't get near the team because Lennon made it clear he didn't want him. I've completely made that scenario up of course but it's the only sort explanation that makes sense go me as I can't see Lennon insisting on an extension for one of our top earners to have him sitting behind Johnston and Morgan.

8.) 31 Aug 2019 08:18:21
Folk are guessing it’s all down to Lennon and the club I will play devils advocate. maybe it could be a problem with Sinclair? Even before the rat left he wasn’t figuring that much? Me personally I feel he is a great player has been superb the stats he has returned be it goals and assists! Just a mystery to us all? Mon the hoops on Sunday get intake this shower if rubbish! 🙂🍀🏆🏆🏆.

9.) 31 Aug 2019 08:32:21
He should tell them to take a feck to themselves and sit and take every penny he is due.

10.) 31 Aug 2019 10:25:45
Ed, do u know the ins and outs of the Sinclair situation? Did Celtic think they would get some money for him over the summer and now taken the huff because he never went?

{Ed007's Note - I'm not entirely sure what happened, even the reported contract extension doesn't make sense or tie in with what the Club itself reported here when Sinclair signed for us.
During the English window there was plenty of interest from the Championship and some definite offers did come in from there but nothing happened for whatever reasons, there was also an offer for Sinclair to move to the MLS.
His agent will spend the weekend trying to find him a club on the continent and I will be really surprised if Sinclair is still a Celtic player when the window closes.}

11.) 31 Aug 2019 11:52:09
@Dander, yes his form may have dipped a little but the man's stats over the last few seasons speak for themselves. If a guy with his stats and ability can't even make our bench ahead of untried and inconsistent youngsters then something stinks, in my opinion. He's not out the team because he isn't good enough. There's more too this.

07 Aug 2019 22:28:52
Sinclair available for £3m expected to be sold tomorrow.

1.) 08 Aug 2019 02:03:48
Did Sinclair get left in Glasgow or did he travel with the squad?

2.) 08 Aug 2019 04:05:20
Bad move getting rid of someone who chips in over 15 goals a season.

3.) 08 Aug 2019 06:30:54
With KT looking at going for £25 million, good chance Sinclair will be away for £3 million, Lille apparently sniffing around jozo and always a possibility of something happening with ntcham. That £28 million along with £20 million for dembele, £7 million for VVD move to Liverpool, Armstrong £7 million move last year, that’s serious money been brought into the club over two summer windows. Yes we bought edouard, bought shved, bought Jullien, Bolingoli and Elhamed but you’d like to think there’s a huge amount of cash now there for Lennon to really go and strengthen this team. We’ve just released 3 strip sales, sold out season tickets again, not to mention a possibility of champions league football. Yes I know we’ve invested in the disco lights, the pitch etc but this window wether people think it had to happen or not, we’ve lost lustig, boyata, KT and looking like Sinclair, all first team players.

4.) 08 Aug 2019 07:57:13
I can't believe we haven't bought in decent reinforcements when lennon knew the positions, we left our £7mill man on the bench, boli his name must of come out of a lucky bag. Now with kt and Scotty possibly leaving it leaves us up rubbish creak without a paddle. I know we have till the 2nd of September but we could be out of the champions league by then and it's to late. We must show serious intent in getting top class players in. HH.

5.) 08 Aug 2019 08:44:56
Jesus for months people on here skating Sinky, no he’s maybe leaving he’s a free scoring Messi! Make up your minds.

6.) 08 Aug 2019 08:58:57
No one said he's a free scoring Messi but no one in this squad are going to score the amount of goals he does from left wing.

7.) 08 Aug 2019 09:02:57
With kt away and Sinclair probably going, we are definitely weaker than last season, slightly worrying times for me. I think Lennie needs his head checking if he really expects to be given all the kt transfer money off peter.
If we get past Cluj, after last night I can’t see us getting past Prague with that squad. They will tear us apart at the back, the other day it was a 7 million pound player to replace kt. Now he’s leaving it will probably be Taylor from Lille for a million.
As long as peter gets his bonus, that’s the main thing.

8.) 08 Aug 2019 09:10:39
Morgan, Hayes, MJ and Shved combined will be lucky to match Sinclairs goals/ assists over a season. Like him or loathe him - he scored goals.

9.) 08 Aug 2019 09:33:35
Unfortunately the predictable downsizing is in full swing from Rodgers to the players that have left ie Dembele, Armstrong, Tierney the list goes on the Celtic board have decided to sell or move on the Crown Jewels and replace them with far cheaper inferior replacements. It’s the typical Celtic cycle of pushing the boat out for a while and then majorly downsizing. Celtic so we are told are a progressive club looking to improve every year but I think it only seems to be the fans that feel that way.

10.) 08 Aug 2019 09:39:47
Franny they were calling it down sizing when we signed Dembele and Armstrong.

11.) 08 Aug 2019 09:59:09
Is it maybe the case that Sinclair has asked for a move and that's why he's not been playing?

12.) 08 Aug 2019 10:13:13
Not completely true Franny, from the days of having Armstrong in the team I think mcgregor and Christie are actually better players.

However, the signings we have made I still stick by have been progressive. Boli is an improvement on izzy of recent, more pace, more influence going forward. Boli needs more positional and tactical sense.

Big jullien has full key assets. From what I've seen which unfortunately isn't a lot. Seems like he's going to be a decent signing. I think is likely going to be an upgrade in that position (but not vvd) but better than boyata.

Elhamed, I thoughts been decent so far. Quick enough to create attacks, calm on the ball. Probably not the greatest defender, but quick enough to get back and make it difficult for attackers to get past him and progress on goal without the harassment.

We definitely need a proper left back. We ain't going to sign the quality of KT, that's why the bhoy is 25million. But someone half decent, if not CL quality definitely a Europa league level player.

I'd also want another player that can change games. Even if that's a loan, someone in the paddy Roberts mould. I think we'll need that for this season. I thought yesterday's game, we were to wide open, and lacked that spark, Forrest tried but another one of those types of players on the other wing makes our attacks less predictable and more influential.

We need the checkbook to be opened for the next 3 weeks to make sure we have a good a chance for the CL groups and try retain our trebles.

13.) 08 Aug 2019 16:04:19
KT missed almost half our games last season so how anyone can say we can't do without him or are downsizing is beyond me. He's young and he's ambitious and there is nothing wrong with that. He'll come to realise in time that he misses Celtic more than we miss him. Good luck to him whatever happens.

01 Jul 2019 09:51:41
Tabloids claiming McNair deal is dead. Quite happy with that if true, nothing to do with his Rangers allegiance but just because I don't think he's better than players we currently have at the club.

1.) 01 Jul 2019 13:46:38
Thank f*ck I was talking to a mate who has a season ticket at Boro and he said McNair is rid rotten so I hope we don’t sign him .

2.) 02 Jul 2019 08:02:45
And he hates Celtic. Paper talk as per.

24 Jun 2019 21:25:03
Apparently Arsenal back with £17.5m bid for KT. With initial bid being £15m and is apparently wanting £25 you would expect £20m to be the magic number now it's went up to £17.5m I'm starting to believe he might actually be sold.
I'm surprised Brendan isn't matching that tbf.

1.) 24 Jun 2019 22:26:23
There should be no negotiation. He’s got 4 years left on his deal and he’s the best talent to come through our academy since McStay. We should set a price and not accept a penny less.

2.) 24 Jun 2019 22:52:31
Especially when Palace knocked back £35m for BiSakko. Is he worth double KT? No chance.

3.) 24 Jun 2019 23:57:27
Heard from a very good source KT wants the Arsenal move to happen, .

4.) 25 Jun 2019 07:51:41
Wether KT wants the arsenal move or not is kind of irrelevant, he’s on a long term contract and while no one wants this to become nasty or a pantomime, absolutely no way should we sell ourselves short. This apparent £25 million bracket ( which I still find cheap) should not be negotiated. If that is the figure lawwell has set it must not be diluted for no one. And reading these reports about certain fees with possible arsenal players coming our way, like others have said, firstly are these arsenal players willing to come to Scotland? Secondly are they any good? And thirdly what wage bracket are these guys in? For me if tierney does go he goes for the full asking price paid in one lump sum, no player swaps no instalments one big pay day end of.

5.) 25 Jun 2019 07:52:03
If the boy from palace is worth 50 mill then arsenal should be told the same fed up with the arrogant English thinking we'll accept peanuts it happened with virg and Viktor.

6.) 25 Jun 2019 08:08:38
No you didn’t.

7.) 25 Jun 2019 09:33:25
greengenie, I have no insider knowledge but I do have a feeling you're right. There's nothing wrong with the lad wanting to move to a higher standard of football. He has been a magnificent servant to Celtic and you can see in every game that he plays with his heart. He'll always be a Celtic fan no matter where he goes and if he does leave I'll wish him well.
It's up to the club to make sure we get the right fee for him. HH.

8.) 25 Jun 2019 10:41:23
If he didn’t want it to happen then Arsenal wouldn’t be wasting their time bidding for him. The biggest obstacle to this deal has always been whether arsenal will meet his asking price.

9.) 25 Jun 2019 14:09:15
Lenny and the Hibs players are not our concern and its all rumours and most of it will be nonsense.

In relation to Burke he did play because he wasnt very good! Missing vital open goals v livi and the deceased!

The boy is very raw all about pace he will be playing for a lower division one clubs v soon.

10.) 25 Jun 2019 15:38:16
Each player has a price No point in quoting loyalty We are in a league that is a stepping stone at best If the price is right and the player finds it interesting then we have to go along with that KT is a great player but I wouldn't blame him if he left for a big team in England he IS a Celtic man through and through but he needs at some point to try his own ability If that time is now then he would go with my thanks and blessing. We would not attract any decent player to our club if we just rejected good bids from England or any other top league sadly that is the position we are in because of the league we are in.

17 Jun 2019 18:29:34
Media suggesting we have made contact with Aribos representatives to try and land him after it had been reported he had signed for that mob.
There may be some truth in it as we were interested in him earlier and he was supposed to be announced for Rangers today.
For a nominal cross border fee and to disrupt their plans for a young strong athletic player it wouldn't be the worst piece of business especially with Ntcham likely to exit.

1.) 17 Jun 2019 18:53:35
Are we really interested in him or is it just the usual media crap so they can come out with "He chose Rangers over Celtic because of Gerrard"
Every player they sign, the media states that we were interested so it makes the gullible feel good and they think they got one over on us.

2.) 17 Jun 2019 18:58:43
Don’t fall for it GGGG! They know fine well he’s going there and are making out we’re now in for him so it looks like they beat us to him! Pile of crap and it’s typical gutter press nonsense!

3.) 17 Jun 2019 19:29:32
If he was that good and if there was genuinely EPL teams looking at him, he would not be signing for sevco. He would be on more at EPL or even championship sides as money is no issue.

4.) 17 Jun 2019 20:55:18
Are we never mind that lot actually going to do something or is it wait for the bring and buy sales. Lennon knew what had to be done and with more leaks coming out of Celtic than Wales.

5.) 18 Jun 2019 07:46:12
Perhaps it’s nothing to do with money or Gerrard. I think it’s the player himself. If you were that age you want to play. Would he get straight into the Celtic team? I don’t know as I haven’t seen him but I do know it’s easier to get into the Rangers team than the Celtic one. Perhaps he’s just thinking of playing up here for a year or two and then get a move into the EPL or championship. Doesn’t want to be sitting in the reserves for a year first though?

Lennon publicly stated we might need to offer players wage cuts in coming weeks. Should be ok until end of April but with £5m monthly wage bill with no income it's seriously eating into our cash reserves.
With games not played due to be refunded by the club we really need to be able to get this season finished ASAP.

1.) 30 Mar 2020 22:17:39
Football players should not be immune to what everyone else is going through. They make enough in their careers to take the hit.

2.) 30 Mar 2020 23:24:28
Lay all the players off, let them get the governments 80% deal up to £2500 a month,

3.) 31 Mar 2020 12:09:19
If it's being considered at the biggest, richest club in Scotland, then the rest must be in a very desperate financial crisis.
With no end in sight to the current restrictions and the 2019/ 20 season in limbo, there will be many clubs facing meltdown and ruin.
Football is only the tip of the iceberg as every household will have someone in work who are on reduced pay or have even been laid-off?
The repercussions and lasting effects of this pandemic will take a very long time to recover from mentally, physically and financially.

31 Jan 2020 18:14:02
Ki Seung Yeung has been released from Newcastle contract by mutual consent.
Can now be signed after window closes, wouldn't be surprised to see him reunited with Lenny and The Bhoys.

03 Aug 2019 07:37:24
Maguire being sold to Man U is bad news for us. Benkovic returning on loan is looking less likely and now the Judas has plenty of cash to try and get CalMac off us.
I think he is our most important player and we must resist ANY bid for his services. If our board sell KT and CalMac next week it will be a major blow. Can't help worrying that if Leicester offer £25m that he will be gone.
Can't wait till next Friday tbh to their window shuts.

1.) 03 Aug 2019 09:08:27
If Leicester offer £25m he will be gone👍.

2.) 03 Aug 2019 09:30:56
I don't think he will.

3.) 03 Aug 2019 09:38:45
If Jozo goes, we are in danger of the defence being weaker than last season. With potentially 5 defenders leaving. We are hoping our 3 new defenders are good enough to fill the gap but although its early doors, the jury is still out.
Jullian is still not up to speed and my first impressions are he will need to be sharper and faster to justify his transfer fee. Boli looks okay and I think he will only get better, once he gets settled in. I am looking forward to seeing Elhamad, I was a bit critical of the transfer but I believe he will be a good strong defender. I don't see him bombing down the wing like KT or Boli on the left, which is okay as long as he can defend. Lawwell and Lenny need to get this right.

4.) 03 Aug 2019 11:41:09
Calm down lenny saying neither jozo or ajer will be sold feck we'll have nobody left if you believe the hype.

5.) 03 Aug 2019 12:27:09
If Jozo left then he would just buy this Pavlovic with the money. Lenny wants him anyway if we qualify for the CL.

6.) 03 Aug 2019 13:43:36
They just bought teilemans for 40 mill, why would he need calmac?

23 May 2019 08:35:18
Celtic have drawn up 3 man shortlist for Managerial position that consists of Lennon, Moyes and Micheal O Neill.
Benitez is likely to conclude extension to Newcastle contract in next couple of days and his wage demands are too high.
AVB was only touted as he was over here doing coaching badges.
Pardew is interested but the board don't consider him to be on the shortlist.
Personally I favour Lennon he has a good track record domestically and in the Champions League with a good transfer record as well, gives us best chance of success as appointing someone else is more of a gamble with Euro qualifiers coming thick and fast.

{Ed007's Note - What coaching badges was AVB over here doing and when was this? As far as I'm aware AVB has had all his coaching badges for years, if he didn't then he wouldn't have been allowed to coach in the EPL.}

1.) 23 May 2019 12:28:33
Pass me that pinch a salt Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Choosing between Moyes, O'Neill or Lennon is like choosing to get kicked on your left bollock, right bollock or both - they're all just as painful as the others.}

2.) 23 May 2019 12:47:58
Ed, who do you realistically think is going to get the job? HH.

{Ed007's Note - Neil Lennon.}

3.) 23 May 2019 12:50:28
This thread is pork pies. Michael oneil is nowhere near running for job.

4.) 23 May 2019 13:49:41
I'm confident Neil Lennon won't even get a look in and I reckon new manager has been identified a while back.

Peter Lawwell is a money man and as much as we have our moan about him, he is good at what he does. He is not going to take any chances on potentially messing up the huge revenue potential from getting 10iar when we are so close. Every man and their dog will want to buy the celtic top, dvds, tickets for games, special memorabilia and be a part of 10iar. That's not going to happen with Lennon in charge.

Added to that he has ruffled a few feathers since stepping in as interm.

5.) 23 May 2019 13:53:44
I don't see 10iar as being any kind of money spinner in any way. It's a pride thing with bragging rights attached and a kick in the bollox for the Sevvies, nothing more than that. HH.

6.) 23 May 2019 14:29:39
I disagree and I'm sure a lot of our fans will feel the same. It will be a money spinner setting a new record, getting one over that mob and the feeling we will all have will be epic. The club will cash in on that because a happy fan= money.

7.) 23 May 2019 15:09:38
It is a money maker. It’s exactly like the big anniversary’s for the Lisbon lions. Massive profit seasons with more sales than usual. It would be the same for us. We need to win the treble this season and we need to win the 10. We are so close and there’s no reason why we should slip up. After that the club loses the stress and we can move on.

8.) 23 May 2019 16:09:47
O'Neill? Right he's done a good job For Northern Ireland (sorry JFP for using that term) but scrap that because it's a different game to managing a club. So essentially we're looking at a Brechin amd Shamrock Rovers Manager turning 50? Doubt it. Lump on Lenny bhoys, 5/ 1.

9.) 23 May 2019 16:16:09
I think the Board is correct in making no statement about our permanent Manager before the Scottish Cup final on Saturday . I can see no possible benefit in naming manager before our very important final game . Neil Lennon and all the players need to concentrate fully on getting proper result on Sat .
Similarly there is no point on us fans blathering away pure nonsense about new manager. Some of us are building expectations in the clouds and others are more realistic but none can benefit anyone involved with Celtic, let us beat Hearts on Saturday and then rant and rave about be manager until we find out officially.

10.) 23 May 2019 17:16:21
Hi Eds when next week comes and everybody has got over their hangovers win or loose the cup do you recon that Lennon will be announced as new manager? It would not surprise me that he would be and that PL will be saying that after due diligence looking at other candidates we feel NL has done the job asked of him and now we a prepared to give the job full time and back over theses next two years.

11.) 23 May 2019 17:32:36
Philtim88 Michael Oneil has been spoken to twice by Celtic about the managers position. Would be a horrendous appointment if it were to ever happen.

12.) 23 May 2019 17:39:17
😂😂 Rich how many times do you want to ask who the Ed think will be the new manager.

13.) 23 May 2019 19:13:12
Rich T lol campsie bhoy how do you know that?

14.) 23 May 2019 21:37:22
If we get 9 or 10 I wonder if there will be a special kit released for it as most supporters will jump all over it. Huge money spinner that'll be.

16 May 2019 22:39:02
Benitez agrees new 2 year contract with Newcastle after meeting with Mike Ashley in a London today.

1.) 16 May 2019 23:16:34
considering he is not meeting Ashley until next week that sems a little premature.

2.) 17 May 2019 00:10:08
At least we can put that crazy story to bed.

3.) 17 May 2019 00:14:28
He didn’t meet with Ashley. His meeting was with a director. Ashley did not attend.

I’d take £8-9m and buy Wanyama good business all round.

{Ed007's Note - You'd spend £8-9 million on a player who's managed 114 mins of football this season and whose knee makes Simunovic's look like Ironman built it? There's a reason Spurs are struggling to get rid of him so why should Celtic take the gamble?}

Fully agree preferred the other boy From Slovenia Bratislava who’s going to Portugal for £5m, he has been banging them in and would expect him to hit the ground running.
The Polish boy I expect will be better next season, if I’m honest If prefer Glen Murray or even Shankland to help out Edouard at least Murray was capable one BPL of finding net with side who don’t score many goals and Shankland is low risk with great goal record albeit in second tier, he’s a natural Goalscorer and would get plenty of chances.

Got to be Bauer far too big a risk throwing Frimpong in against Kent IMO. If Frimpong comes off 2nd best in that duel it may set him back a bit confidence wise.
I’d rather have him on bench and go with experience.
Good player to bring on aswell if we need a pace injection or change of shape.

I’m not so sure it’s been a great start we lost in Champions league before the last qualifying round and are level on points and GD in league which we weren’t at this stage under Rodgers.
Highlights were Ibrox win and last nights victory but still need to go away for next 2 matches.
I’d say 7/ 10 so far but a place in final of league cup, a point in Rome and win at Pittodrie would make it an 8/ 10.

Stitched him right up. Celtic were 5/ 4 and Rangers 11/ 2 even them to get a draw was far less likely than a Celtic win at 100/ 30. So he’s basically lost a £50 bet when a draw was harder to get than a Celtic win😂
I got £340 for 4x£5 doubles on 2-1 (15/ 2) and 2-0 Celtic with 2-1 Porto and 1-1 (7/ 1)
Stuck the £40 on 4x£10 doubles this time with Sheep 1 Celtic 2 (7/ 1) and Sheep 1 Celtic 3 (10/ 1) with Rangers 2 Motherwell 1 (13/ 2) and Rangers 2 Motherwell 0 (5/ 1)

Totally agree I think Ajer is good in most domestic games as we are usually on front foot and he uses his physique well but in against any half decent side who attack us he makes so many bad choices, dives in or gets caught wrong side.

I’m just glad transfer window is still open so we can improve the squad further.
I agree that we are favourites to win league but not certs at this stage. We have won easily against 2 midtable sides so far who were both in bottom half of league, they scraped win V Killy and had comfortable win V Hibs but only after they went down to 10 men so it’s hard to gauge how much (if at all) they have improved yet.
Once we play each other and everyone else once then we will see if there’s any sign of an actual challenge this season.
My biggest fear is if we lose at Ibrokes and the fans start to get on Lennys back putting him and the squad under further pressure then if we dropped anymore points as a result. The 1 thing we never have done is had to chase them, we have always been out in front or had games in hand.
Just go to Ibrokes do the business and see how they react which history will tell you will be a crumble job like their stadium!
