Guys I have to disagree with people writing that no one will challenge us. Fact. teams have adopted a certain style this season ( i know only 5 games in ) to combat our attacking style, but if we are being totally honest this has been ongoing since last season where performances either weren't good enough or we lacked creativity to put teams away considering we have the majority of possession in 99% of games domestically.

ED has highlighted this a lot of the time when we were all bumping our gums about the defence, the hard facts were that we did not score as many goals compared to season before and by a fair bit. Our main challenge just now is putting teams away by putting the ball in the net and until we start doing that then teams will continue to do what they are doing and getting results like Friday night's. Personally the 3-4-2-1 doesn't work for me as we end up with Brown and Ntcham taking the ball 5 yards from 3 centre halfs which is limiting the number of players in advanced positions to hurt teams.

Add to that Forrest and Tierney also responsible for defensive work as wing backs for me results in a system that's no suiting us. Hopefully we can find a solution very soon. griff and French eddy up top for starters would help.

I have said many many times in here when people have a go at the defence that's not our main issue.
Our main issue is our attacking play, we do not vary it enough and now we have no physical presence either.
We have forrest on 1 side while playing well crossing is not a strong point.
We have lost our partnership of KT/ Sinclair on other side.
Eddy is clearly not a penalty box striker but like Samaras likes grass to run into.

When teams pack it like St. Mirren do we struggle to find a way at times.

BR said on International weeks he likes to reflect and think, well I not on his level obv but our set pieces are poor why not try some new things.

Why not try another way of breaking teams down, if it means long ball so be it (not all the time obv) .

Why do we need 16 passes to cross the half way line?

When a team attacks us let's turn it over quickly and counter attack, also why not LET teams attack us sometimes as we can be lethal on the break and team in the SPFL can't cope with us when we have space to run into (see sevco game) .

When teams have set piece against us (yes ok defend properly) but why not set up to have players in counter attack positions.

Look at Liverpool they are always ready to pounce, why can't we?

We would rather make 20 passes before we do and by then opposition team is all behind the ball its not rocket science that's its more difficult to score cos of this.

2.) 16 Sep 2018 16:11:19
Agreed. definitely need 2 up front with the way teams are sitting in against us.

3.) 16 Sep 2018 17:14:00
Going to be difficult to play 2 up front over an extended period as we only have 2 strikers.

4.) 16 Sep 2018 17:49:38
Why don’t they try and sign an experienced centre forward who is a free agent, might be good support to eddy and Griffiths, sure their must be at least one or two out there.

5.) 16 Sep 2018 20:59:00
I would like to see a 4-3-3, with Sinclair getting a run as a left wing forward, and agree I'd like a good penalty box striker, who can header the ball, maybe not Rodgers style (and although I'm not comparing us to Barcelona, but it's sometimes a bit pass pass pass like they were at times) , a ball into a big man could give us something different. Not sure what free agents would be about and don't want another Carlton Cole, but a big rough em up type guy would often help. Is John Hartson not up for a return?

6.) 16 Sep 2018 21:01:00
If we take long shots from the likes of Rogic and Ntcham players like Griffiths and Forrest should be on the keeper immediately I'm case he spills it. That pressure would surely pay off.

7.) 17 Sep 2018 15:19:58
I hope B R brings in Rayman99 and Henrik's Tongue to work with the first team squad, the day before every match . Celtic might win as many SPL titles as Liverpool have won EPL titles.

8.) 17 Sep 2018 18:12:24
Surely we can offer contracts to Sako and Traore until the end of the season. Something different to what we have and freshen things up a bit. Traore being the target man option as he's 6ft 8" and may be what we need for set pieces. Sako offering height width and pace. Both would have a field day in our league. Agree with DesH as much as it would be ideal to play 2 up front we are an injury away from a crisis which would make more sense to sign up a free agent CF as cover until the end of the season while we decide on who to go for.

9.) 17 Sep 2018 18:48:41
Your right chris we could help with coaching lol while u could coach them on how the refs are all biased against us.
I wonder which one the players would appreciate more.
Get back in your DeLorean car mate.

10.) 17 Sep 2018 22:08:12
Look at Liverpool? Why?

Finalists in Champions League and then went on to spend £168m.

And you wonder why we can't counterattack like they can.

A grip needs to be gotten.

we will win the league - I have no doubts - we have a far better squad than everyone. True they are chaning their style to combat ot stregnths - but Hearts will get beat by St Mirren, Hibs got beast by Livi., Aberdeen will get beat by everyone - and ragers had their worst start in how many years.

we aren't invincible - but we are far better than the rest of the pile - frustrated by lack of transfer activity - especially in defence - yes defence. But we still are better than all before us.

Depresssed we didn't see the warning signs and stregnthen to ensure continued run in the cl but that's life. don't expect much this year in EL - but Im hoping Lawwell will see what not spending does to the bottom line and invest for success,

Rayman, you know as little about me, as you know about Celtic .
It doesn't seem to hinder you posting about either .
For future reference I don't want to be associated with you as mate.

All I can say is. thank God we have wee Griff. At least he's getting in the positions to put the ball away. From what i saw of the game we were better than previous weeks gone by. but we were very wasteful. Hopefully we can kick on now. Id start Morgan next game give him a confidence boost and see what he can do. HH.

Today was a complete shambles. 3 million for kouassi. anyone who thinks he is gd enuff is kidding themselves on or are deluded.
Time to get the finger out. The board need to back the manager ASAP or he will get fed up and be off.
We made changes today and were shown up that the replacements are no gd enuff end of. Time for new blood to freshen the team/ squad up. We r weaker than last season and that's no gd enuff.

He was replacing Ntcham today and that’s not really his play style.

I think he needs an Ntcham type player beside him and especially with hearts pressing so high it was difficult for him.

Give him a chance I’m sure he’ll come good.

2.) 11 Aug 2018 18:06:31
Kouassi and hendry? Never celtic quality . Am I the only one who sees what's going on as similar to the o'neil situation? . Ppl who are slating dd? It was him how changed things after the semi n got us Brendan. Can't see him sitting back and allowing us to self destruct from within . A think a sit down is needed and a back him or lose him scenario will play out . Only our board can prevent 8, 9 or 10! Let's hope they don't!

3.) 11 Aug 2018 18:21:34
Kouassi is never going to make the grade at our club imo. I’ve yet to see him have a good game. Passing and decision making are awful. Doesn’t offer anything positive if you ask me. Slightly worrying that BR said he would be Browns long term replacement.

4.) 11 Aug 2018 18:47:14
Kouasse is real deal but like most others needs games. When played in his favoured position he stands out. He just doesn't get a proper chance imo as Brown always plays.

5.) 12 Aug 2018 23:25:38
Rodgers signed eboue! Should play strongest 11 every game, it was the managers fault we lost today👍.

First time writing on here so take it easy on me!

Noticed a few people giving McGinn stick for not signing. in my opinion celtic left it too late and i agree with tesla that villa showing proper interest swayed his decision as he was made to feel wanted and they never messed about getting him thru the doors. We need reinforcements soon. complacency has never stood us in gd stead in the past and a going by a few comments on here it seems the success of previous campaigns has allowed tht to creep into some fans' thinking. Not bringing in quality will only make us stop progressing and we need a freshness to the squad. Hopefully we get a result next week over there.

Cheers.

Class username mate.

2.) 10 Aug 2018 23:32:18
Don’t think u’ll find many people giving mcginn stick mate. the majority on here know exactly where the blame is! Mcginn looked after himself and nobody can blame the boy for that. we messed about far to long and when we finally realised there was a chance of missing him it was to late! But to be honest this isn’t just about young mcginn, who IMO would have been a great player for us for many a year! This has been going on for years at the club and Brendan couldn’t have been more clear over the past few days about it! We continually fail to strengthen and always try and do just enough to get by. there's 3 weeks of the window left and it will prove exactly how much they want to keep hold of Brendan by what they do in those 3 weeks. judging by today and bringing Izaguirre back, I feel I already know the answer to that!

3.) 11 Aug 2018 05:32:54
We put in 3 bids which were knocked back, so it is hardly messing about. 2 million was a great offer considering he was going into the last year of his contract. We had also agreed personal terms with mcginn, according to ed007.

Personally speaking I would not have paid more than we offered.

4.) 11 Aug 2018 05:53:45
I was of the impression that Celtic offered 2 million plus Allan
They also offered Christie on loan
However hibs wanted 4 million
Hibs then accepted a bid of 2.8from villa which Celtic then matched.

5.) 11 Aug 2018 07:46:12
I honestly don't understand why so many fans are getting their knickers in a twist over the McGinn saga.

At the end of the day he would have been a squad player and I would much rather spend that money on someone who will be a first team player.

6.) 11 Aug 2018 10:38:22
Raw it's not the players capability that's the issue. it's the failure to back the managers wishes.

7.) 11 Aug 2018 12:20:10
I'm sure Rodgers had a meeting with the board about it and Rodgers would have said he was a player he would like at Celtic.

After that the board went and tried to get him using the valuation they deemed to be suitable for a player of that ability and was into last year of contract.

So I really don't see it as the board not backing the manager on this one as they put in a more than reasonable offer. The only issue may be that Rodgers thought he was worth more than the board were prepared to pay.

At the end of the day signing players is like a game of poker and like poker you don't win every hand but if you have a sound strategy and you stick to it, then you will win more than you lose.

8.) 11 Aug 2018 12:23:10
I disagree about McGinns ability, I think he would have been great. That wasn’t the issue, it was how we fecked it up is the problem. How we go about things. That’s what caused the furore. Not whether he would be a first team starter. That’s a smokescreen. It’s all about our preparation for signing players in time when they are needed, not after the main battles are over.

9.) 12 Aug 2018 22:42:41
Who is to blame LH6? Hibs rejected our bids claiming to want £4m but accept £2.75 from Villa! I think Peter Lawell was spot on not to waste the clubs money on keeping some wee diddy clubs afloat. McGinn is never worth £4m and will never be anywhere near the quality to make our starting 11! Rodgers has already wasted enough of the clubs money on dross like Hendry, Commper, Eboue and Hayes. To be allowed to waste £4m on a player who would only make the bench would have been serious financial mismanagement from the board and manager!

No chance. Regardless of what boyata did in the summer or how well he's been playing he was well in the wrong. U cani go berating the ref over and over in the manner he was and get away with it. Bad example for young kids at the game or watching it and i think he went too far. Let himself and the team dwn now he will miss the semi final. Dafty.
