Just read that Gary parker won't be our new assistant and john Kennedy is likely to remain in the role.

Reading between the lines, this would suggest that the board liked the methods introduced by Rodgers and want to keep the continuity vie john Kennedy.

I must say this has alleviated some of my concerns over lennon.

The board are never going to let things like the sports science department and other areas developed under rodgers to go backwards. I don't think Lennon will have much say over that. He will do coaching, pick teams and between him and scouts will identify players. We will either get a dof or lawwell will take the cheap option and do that him self.

2.) 31 May 2019 14:46:22
I hope you are correct Cory but they have let the club go backwards with the appointment of Lenny so there's a chance they will let the club go backwards in other areas also Sorry still angry with the boards decision about the appointment of the manager pure laziness IMO.

3.) 31 May 2019 15:46:53
Surely giving players days off to go drinking would go against the sports science?
Who would set training routine or intensity Lennon or Sports science? We might have a sports science department but it comes down to the manager if he uses it.

With regards new signings my take is that our board will be waiting to see if we secure European football so they know how much funds will be available.

So if we progress tonight, I would expect us to make a signing soon after as we would have at least secured Europa.

Then we will spend more after the last qualifier assuming we progress that far. The amount we spend will depend on whether we are in Europa or CL.

LennonAtWork

1.) 13 Aug 2019 19:35:57
LAW, I’d think it’s more a matter of whether the players we’re looking at will want to come is dependent on CL qualification.

2.) 13 Aug 2019 20:28:16
That will also be a factor JFP.

09 Aug 2019 10:33:33
Think our priority positions are first team players for LB and target man. I would also like to see another RB for cover and midfield powerhouse.

Hope we go back in for cifuentes as he is supposed to be a cracking player according to Tim Vickery who knows that market well.

LennonAtWork

1.) 09 Aug 2019 11:08:29
Seems his agent is demanding millions for himself in any deal. Heard that's why man city ain't going for him now.

{Ed007's Note - Cifuentes and his agent are due a percentage of his transfer fee as per the player's contract.}

2.) 09 Aug 2019 11:22:50
Is this due to player rights or just contract ED? Also do you think we will move for Cifuentes or is that just another “link”.

{Ed007's Note - It's just part of his contract with his club and is quite common in South America. I was told the other week that we have spoken to both Cifuente's club & agent so there is definite interest there.}

3.) 09 Aug 2019 12:02:06
I can see how that would cause some teams to baulk at the fee being asked as I assume the selling club will ask for a higher fee in order to offset the losses to the player and his agent.

{Ed007's Note - Maybe not all of it but they'll certainly look to pass on some of it to any buying club.}

4.) 09 Aug 2019 12:31:53
Crazy to think of. Maybe that’s why Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo commanded those gigantic fees when transferring to Real Madrid.

5.) 09 Aug 2019 12:50:48
It is normal in todays' market that agents get a fee when a club buys a player they are managing.

{Ed007's Note - Very normal mate. The latest figures released in April showed that Pub League clubs spent £211 million (£257 million overall in England) in agent fees over both windows last season. Celtic were obviously the highest payers in Scotland paying out £1.7 million compared to Liverpool who spent the most in England with £26.8 million.}

Got a few points I wanted to put out there.

1. Why did the board come out and announce Lennon's appointment on Saturday after the match? To me this took some of the shine off doing the treble treble. Surely they should have let the fans have a massive party and have them all talking about the treble treble, rather than have the fans split on the manager issue.

2. While Lennon was not my preferred choice, I can see why the board went for him. Hopefully the board back him in the transfer window and also make sure that we bring in progressive coaches to work under him, especially in the areas that are not Neil's forte.

3. It seems that our fans are split on whether or not our sqaud needs major surgery. I am off the opinion that we need to strengthen a few areas of the team but we don't need a massive clearout as some are suggesting.

LennonAtWork

1.) 27 May 2019 16:11:52
Simple, they knew a lot of fans didn't want Lennon to get it so chose Saturday cos they knew we were out celebrating and on a high. It was very sneaky and I really hope and pray they want 10 in a row as much as we do.

Not surprised with the referee appointment for Sunday's game.

Clancy is both bias and shockingly bad, in equal measure. Both factors indicate that he should not be allowed anywhere near this derby.

When is our club going to stand up to the SFA and highlight publicly that Rangers' fans should not be allowed to referee a match involving their team due to the phenomenon known as "ingroup bias".

LennonAtWork

1.) 11 May 2019 12:11:42
It's got to the point where there are easily five or six 'referees' that have an obvious allegiance to Sevco (past and present) and you can bet your bahookie on either of them having these games.
Celtic have never raised the issue for some reason or another and it will only get worse and more blatant as we continue to seek the 10.
Only in Scotland is this deliberate attempt to influence football matches condoned and encouraged by the parent football association.

2.) 11 May 2019 12:23:13
2 games left and still Collum hasn't refereed a rangers game. The powers that be are not fit for purpose.

3.) 11 May 2019 13:10:57
I'm sure his old man was my primary school headteacher.

4.) 11 May 2019 18:25:25
It will be a disgrace if Collum is not the referee in killie v sevco game next week because it will only put more pressure on collum for next season, with him not officiating a sevco match since last November.
Since the first glasgow derby this season the 4th official has refereed the next game.
Beaton was 4th official in first game then refereed the next game, followed by madden and now clancy. Which would mean Thompson will referee the first derby next season.

5.) 11 May 2019 18:58:24
Thompson won’t be refereeing the first derby next season as is retiring at the end of this one. oldkilly.

Great to see the Bhoys finally get over the line.

We have not been at our most scintillating for large parts of the season, probably due to the sheer number of injuries we have had to contend with.

However, we have always looked like we had higher levels to move to and did so when required on the most part and won the vast majority of the important matches.

So 8 down and 2 to go.

Congratulations to our players, management and staff at Glasgow Celtic. Another wonderful achievement, and fantastic finish to what has been a sad and emotional week. These players keep producing and now have the opportunity to re-write the history books with winning the Scottish cup in three weeks time. What an achievement that would be. Regardless who gets the managers job in the summer, let's get behind him and I'm sure we'll get to nine. Hail hail all.

2.) 04 May 2019 15:59:45
Would be great to be going for the quintuple treble the season we do 10 in a row.

3.) 04 May 2019 16:09:12
Big, big congratulations to all our backroom staff. Without them, our success would not be possible.
Well done Celtic!

4.) 05 May 2019 12:35:10
I think this has been the greatest achievement in recent years - apart from the Invincible's - due to the many distractions, problems and hurdles to overcome since way-back to last summer's 'discontent', all the way through an injury minefield, the desertion of a manager at such a crucial time and the sheer guts, determination and bottle to go unbeaten - so far - under NL to secure the title at one of the toughest venues in Scotland. Well Done Glasgow Celtic, Champions!

I'm assuming we either want to give Forrest a rest or he is a slight injury concern and don't want to risk him before the cup final.

LennonAtWork

{Ed007's Note - Forrest didn't train on Friday so I'm assuming he's injured.}

What some of the people on this thread are forgetting is that the 30 million we had in the bank was not all for spending.

At the time our last accounts were posted we were half way through season, so a decent amount of that would have been to pay for our overheads for the remaining 6 months of the season.

We only have 2 strikers and Lennon has stated both last season and this season that he wants to play with a target man.
