Ed did we not try to sign Dominik Livaković last summer but he ended up signing for Fenerbache for €6.5m?

Would seem strange that they would sell so quickly after 1 season, he's on €51k per week.

Surely just a lazy journo plucking old transfer targets out of the "never tried to buy them" vault.

Turner1984

{Ed007's Note - Turkey is notoriously difficult for players to settle in, I said last summer when Livakovic joined Fenerbahce that he would be looking for a move come this summer.
If he is available I don't see why Celtic wouldn't reignite their interest in him.}

Ed or anyone in the know, have we got a global scouting network or was the lads from Japan mainly on the back of Ange knowing the market? Do they use scouting agents or actively scout abroad with their own staff?
The quality of hetate and kyogo makes me baffled that we haven't further invested in that market, ideguchi and yogi didn't work I know but maeda has defintely passed the mark, iwata is decent and will get better.
Matsuki FC Tokyo CM looks like he has a bright future, Assists and distance covered very encouraging so far.

Turner1984

{Ed002's Note - It was largely down to Ange Postecoglou and the recruitment of Mark Lawell and Joe Dudgeon from Manchester City.}

1.) 15 Apr 2024 14:37:12
Ed002, can you elaborate on what involvement Joe Dudgeon had in those transfers because the accepted narrative up here is pretty much that Ange pinpointed Kyogo, Maeda, Ideguchi, Hatate and Iwata himself. Kobayashi, not so much.

Linked with 21yr old Swiss Fabian Reider, what a signing he would be!

Turner1984

1.) 02 Jul 2023 12:47:15
Lots of interest in him. but we've gotvthe money let's make a statement.

2.) 02 Jul 2023 13:08:48
Reider and or Jashari would be statement signings but I'm not sure we'll start to see these types unless we are definitely moving on Hatate or oriely.

3.) 02 Jul 2023 13:41:23
Fabians rieder would be signing of the season. He's been outstanding for young boys. Also the man city kid we are supposedly linked with can't remember his name has ridiculous stats for the u21 though something like 4 hatricks. Sorry minds went a blank.

4.) 02 Jul 2023 14:36:29
Is it borges?

5.) 02 Jul 2023 15:19:10
Cheers Mally that's the lad mate?.

6.) 02 Jul 2023 22:40:40
Would love to see Rieder in the hoops, seen a couple of the games he played in for young boys and he was outstanding.

7.) 03 Jul 2023 15:38:37
Reider and or Jashari look great, even though we could buy them I doubt they would come to the SPFL with the interest from clubs in real leagues. Hopefully CL participation can sway it. Plus, they know they only need to be here two seasons before they can move on. Just wish we would get them in fast, whoever they are.

Does anyone else find themselves very rarely checking to see if celtic are linked with potential signings? I've not seen our squad so strong for ages.

Players will leave, the door will always revolve, but our recruitment has been sensational.

Josip, Reo and Matt were signed for a combined £6.33m, these 3 I believe will be sold for good money in the future, that could quite easily be £40m profit minimum from these 3 alone.

To think the mob across the water may lose their two most valuable assets they have in the past 5 years for free is mental, as much as I love the players we have, sustaining the clubs future is paramount and profit from sales is vital.

The debt ridden clubs of Europe can palm us cash till the cows come, how they can operate when some are even 1billion in debt is mental, this Financial Fair play makes no sense in realistic terms.

Turner1984

1.) 07 Nov 2022 22:46:53
Celtic are in a healthy and wealthy position because the majority of our squad are on lengthy contracts.

2.) 08 Nov 2022 08:24:42
For the first time in a good few seasons I'm very content with the current squad and just hope we can keep them together long enough to enjoy their full potential. Obviously, with Ange at the helm.

21 Jun 2022 21:53:59
Seen a rumour linking Fabricio Diaz of Liverpool Montevideo to Celtic.

18 year old and Captains the Uruguay u21 National team, had been called up to the senior National team but not yet capped.

Interesting one, he looks the part on YouTube, and definitely a player we could enhance and make money on, them Uruguayans are grafters on the pitch!

Wonder why we are getting linked with South Americans lately, I thought work permits were harder to obtain, you know anything about this Ed?

Turner1984

{Ed007's Note - It's easier to get work permits for South Americans with the new system post Brexit mate.

Few players in the correct age group who had productive seasons our scouts should be keeping tabs on

GK Veljko Ilic FK TSC €3M
RB Peter Kovacik Podbrezova €1.2m
CB Adamo Ngalo Nordsjælland €7m
AMC Toni Fruk HNK Rijeka €5m
RW Marin Petkov Levski Sofia €2m
ST Matheus Saldanha Partizan €8m.

Turner1984

1.) 27 Jun 2024 20:32:44
Matt Anderson lb our own . Mitchell frame lw our own daniel Kelly cm our own . bosun lawal our own . Rocco vata rw 2nd striker our own to name but 5.

2.) 27 Jun 2024 22:07:41
Football manager mate?

{Ed007's Note - I'll be looking them up then lol}

3.) 28 Jun 2024 06:38:16
No mate, just actually look up players with top assists or goals or clean sheets in all european leagues, don't be like the actual celtic staff not doing their homework, lad at right back had about 14 assists.

4.) 28 Jun 2024 09:49:31
The lad nagalo is very highly sought after. I think he might cost more than 7m but id be all over him if he's available.

5.) 28 Jun 2024 19:22:35
Why does it matter to a supporter if Natalie costs £7 m, or £9m or even £10m,
I don’t understand or see what difference it makes to me, it makes a difference to the Board as it may affect their dividends .
Surely a supporter who is working a 40+ hour wk as most of us do or have done, should think he has done exceptionally well identifying a player without narrowing it down to price.

Any standout players from this seasons league campaign worth monitoring further or bidding for?

Turner1984

1.) 03 Jun 2024 21:49:49
The boy mgowan was a standout for Dundee . but could he step up . probably not.

2.) 03 Jun 2024 22:39:38
Miovski.

3.) 04 Jun 2024 01:19:36
I'd monitor Lennon Miller more for sure. Although not setting the league alight as such, for his age he looks incredibly mature, composed and unphased.

4.) 04 Jun 2024 07:55:07
I Always thought Dhanda from Ross county was player anytime I saw him, but he’s gone to Hearts.

5.) 04 Jun 2024 08:55:42
Butland ?.

6.) 04 Jun 2024 13:10:35
Mally why not we need a couple of keepers.

15 May 2024 22:20:45
The joy on the players faces after the game seeing that support cheer them on must be electrifying.

Oreilly you've just added another 5m onto your value well done son!

So chuffed for Scales that lad has been amazing this season and deserves his contract.

Hart has also been amazing cracking keeper great to see him retire with a winners medal!

Finally BR with performances like that your making a believer out of me that was amazing to watch!

Enjoy everyone ?HH.

Big Joe was right into it at the end. Your part of the Celtic family Big man. HH YNWA.

2.) 16 May 2024 02:25:55
Big Joe is going to be a huge miss next season.

3.) 16 May 2024 06:39:18
I'm wondering if he will be tempted for another season?

4.) 16 May 2024 10:25:47
I hope not, Joe. He wasn't great for the first half of the season but has been outstanding since he announced his retirement. A SC win would be the perfect send-off.

A game of two half's, first half Celtic playing to their full potential miles ahead of their opponent, the second a naive lacklustre performance, silly fouls, poor closing down, typical of a Celtic side this season!

Thats 2 pts dropped as ww should never give away a 2 goal lead, never domestically with the quality of the opposition.

The pace in the centre of the pitch is a huge worry at times, technically great but slow to defend.

Suppose it leaves a title race on, ours to lose, see what this team is made of!

Couldn't get a sniff of a ticket last season for me and the kids but the stadium tour was a great consolation prize, took my father and the kids they loved it, would recommend to anyone that has never done the tour.

Kyogo is going to be a big player next season simple as that.

To get someone of kyogos quality would cost significantly more than what we would recoup for him even if we got 10m for him he is only 29 and is easily one of the best finishers we've had at the club. He is the only established striker at the club so we simply can't risk losing him.

And if I'm being totally honest 10m isn't enough to sell kyogo when he is on form he's almost unplayable, if I were BR I would be ignoring those sort of bids.

I hope we are still in the Jleague market there are some crackers in that league, Kuryu Matsuki, riku yamane, Mao hosoya (just as quick as maeda)

If they offered £30m and he wanted to go then I don't see how we could stop that, it's as simple as that, we are far bigger than Girona however if Man City get hit with FFP hard you can see players going on loan to Girona for CL football instead of playing in the championship, which might seem attractive to MOR.

We want to take teams best players in January and others will want ours, just hope it's an inflated market as usual so we get the most money for him.
However I would like to see him finishing this season with us, player of the season so far, and get a move to an inter milan, that sort of team, good advertisement for players to come to us with that move!

Barcelona give a platform to their youth players, we as fans would panic at the gamble but if they have the potential give them a chance or lose them, but surely these lads should be fast tracked on loans to other spl clubs not playing celtic b team football.

You can play the one touch side to side up and down back and forward, and again side to side, and be like the majority of teams nowadays trying to emulate pep guardiola and his total possession football, which is a great tactic when you have the greatest footballing technicians on the planet, which will end up biting you in the arse which is does with many teams, bore the pants off the supporters, and the commentary team.

What needs to happen is give players a platform to be confident and attack, take the game to the opposition, have the 12th man behind you excited by the efforts you put in.

Scotland are absolutely not the only negative team at this tournament, the fear of failure stops the opportunity for success.

I'm not a fan of chess, allow players to be chess pieces and it simply makes for dull viewing.

We play/ played/ watch/ listen to football to hear the excitement of attacking play, crosses, shots on goal, not passes backward and sidewards.

Grassroots football haven't got it wrong, everyone trying to emulate pep and his tactics have made the game an absolute bore.

If Mark Cooper can unravel talent such as valverde then exciting players might be coming from south America, need a head of recruitment in the door and a global scouting network set up with experts from each continent.

This is a key component to the way we stay ahead of the game for years to come.

If they don't get things right the fans will be the first to let the board know, I'm sure BR wants us all unified as we move into next season so surely the board will invest in the right areas.

Yes we did have a nail biting title ride season gone but the transition has begun and let's hope this is where we advance forward and leave the mob in our shadow!

People need to stop getting bogged down with the cost of a transfer!

That absolute pathetic striker the deluded bunch had on loan cost wolves €40m, they are happy to sell for €20m, he's is as good as OH at best, so what we may spend on a player has no relevance, we just need to buy the right players, if we invest in recruitment and scouting with the money we have we could be getting players from around the globe that are quality and don't have to cost much.
As long as the club stays financially sound we have the means to stay well ahead of the mob across the water, winning the CL or even the latter stages in this day and age is a pipe dream for an SPL club, we are a platform club for the mega wages of top leagues, we should be capitalising on it, just like top teams from lower rank nations do, the only benefit we have to be slightly more greedy is the land beneath inflates all buying and selling, our target selling should be there!
