Just read that Taylor will go at end of season to croatia, what a mess! . Im thinking of how difficult it was to fill this position wgen Tierney left. don't even remember all the names - Bolingoli, Labalt and although Greg wasnt liked by everyone on here and had no competition I think he gas served us well. Now Tierney returns and im hapoy but wgen ge breajs down what do we do, aaaaah!

I enjoyed reading the discussion on the thoughts of bringing back Tierney and Jota and I thought about the excitement of the Rangers when Aaron Ramsey signed on loan and how he was going to win them everything and I will remember him as costing the Rangers the Eurooa League with a penaltg miss. Tierney could be a complete disaster but I prefer to reserve judgment as he could be a fantastic signing and I admire the thought of him taking a big paycut to play for us.
Jota on the other hand is not a gamble. He made us a lot of money and i think we can allow him a chance to restart his career at a place where he was happy and lkke Tierney it could go well or bad. Either way it doesn't really cost us.
If I remember right Bertie Auld was sold by Celtic only to come back and be an integral part of the Lisbon Lions.
I understand peoples misgivi gs about bringing people back but I think Rogers has won us over and i for one was horrified at the thought of him coming back after the way he left. Wee Bertie was a great comeback and maybe Tierney and Jota can be also and if not we sell them.

Jota and Tierney are two cracking signings mate and will kick us on. People just have different views on it but will come round to it in time I think.
2.) 25 Jan 2025 08:05:59
Get what your saying mate, Jota yes did make us a lot of money but would it have been wiser spending on some1 else?♂️Tierney a don’t get very injury prone and very suspect in europe (mb learned) and as edd has mentioned was ago who else has came in for him mb that why he taking big wage cut and believe you me he still will be our highest earner or close. A hope both and striker ?are massive hits.
3.) 25 Jan 2025 08:41:26
Troy is Tierney is that bad why are Arsenal fans crying out for him to get games and there in a title race in the biggest league in the world.
4.) 25 Jan 2025 10:04:30
If he was that good why isn’t Arteta not playing him and no way am saying he’s bad am saying he got caught out a lot in Europe which is a fact and hope he has learned and becomes a massive hit with us.
5.) 25 Jan 2025 11:58:31
Hese no Arteta type of player it happens managers have there preferences. The Arsenal fans love him.
6.) 25 Jan 2025 15:38:37
Maybe the fact that Arteta was/ is a h. n affects his judgement and he can’t bring himself to play an ex - Celt .
I don’t think he has played any other ex Celts for full games.

I suppose like everyone else that was a hard watch. The only consolation for me is that they beat us today and not on december 15 and its doubtful that we will have to play them again on a thursday. Still hopeful for a treble in 2025 just a pity it won't be invincible.
1.) 02 Jan 2025 21:16:10
Sevco are due to beat us now and again because it feels like Celtic are always playing them.
Celtic already being Champions and Celtic being 14 points ahead when it happens definitely softens the blow.
2.) 03 Jan 2025 01:48:47
Buzz that was dog rubbish today. Aye we're so many point etc but that's basically a super cally for me. Aweful.

"He who laughs last, laughs longest" springs to mind. Not too long ago the Clement revolution had turned over a big deficit to Celtic and won the league (or was it the champions league) with a 3-3 draw at Ibrox. And today they finished off further behind that they were when Clement took over. Reality is a bitch. Looking forward to next week. What a year, an emotional merry-go-round but the Bhoys did us proud in the end.
The one real piece of sadness for me in the midst of the celebration is that Big Joe is not hanging around for #55. How do we replace him? can we replace him? Even though he has only been here for a short while I don't remember another player having that effect on me. I know he is only retiring but the effect on me is more like when King Billy or one of the lions died than when a great player has left. I wish him all the best for his future. Hail Hail.
1.) 18 May 2024 20:32:33
This one killed them. ?.
2.) 18 May 2024 23:02:43
The Clement revolution " steadied the ship" which the gullibles now view as a successful season lol.

Yesterday we booked our place in the cup final and yet almost everything I have read here has been negative. Celtic have been bad all season and are not going into the split 3 points clear of rangers because we have turned a corner and have suddenly gelled and become better but because rangers are, as we all know, perpetual bottlers. I do believe we have a fantastic oppertunity to do the double and not because we are a better team than the rest but because unlike the rangers they are not bottlers in the face of adversity. Yesterdays win was not beautiful and when i saw Hart line uo for a penalty my heart was in my mouth and when he missed i thought well there's still the league. And somehow we won. This season has not been plain sailing but a rollercoaster of emotions. I now hope that negative criticism of individuals does not have a negative psychological effect on them.
Now for todays match and i'm thinking, even though it verges on blasphemy, I might prefer the rangers to Hearts on the 25th of May as they haven't managed to beat us this season whilst Hearts have.
1.) 21 Apr 2024 10:25:04
The hard facts are we were rotten yesterday and the punters are telling the truth. what's wrong with honesty they get praised when they play well. you can't ignore what you see.
2.) 21 Apr 2024 11:57:01
Was more worried when Palma stepped up, to be honest. Would have no problem with Hart going again in the final as he threatens. Pick a corner, hit it as hard as you can.
3.) 21 Apr 2024 12:56:44
We are far from consistent that is what gives me the fear going into the last 6 games ( cup final included) We have the best players in the league. But this season we have been far off the pace in some games terrible decision making has cost a few points. just when I think we haveturned a corner we put in a display like yesterday.
4.) 21 Apr 2024 13:42:22
I think we'll win the league but we'll also drop points. But they'll drop points as well. If we win the league we've got out of jail big time coz we're poor. For the time being, let's give the team 100% backing even if we're struggling in particular games. HH.
5.) 21 Apr 2024 13:49:37
Why is it only the negative that fans talk about. We scored 3 and made many more chances. We were the better team and most importantly we are in the CUP FINAL!
6.) 21 Apr 2024 17:53:10
Mallythetally 67, the punters you refer to, our mainly our supporters, I think that as season isn’t over we should try to lift each other and maybe create a positive atmosphere. Negativity won’t help us, positivity might do something.

Have to say that whist it's true that rangers can't afford miller now only buckie but when they sell Tavernier it will be Miller time and they will be able to afford a case, so there you have it ;-P.

Reading Mojo's comment I had to doublecheck I was on the right site:-) I know it can be frustrating when it seems like the team is not be strengthened and although i have no proof i am sure a lot on here and those from the darkside were spouting about the boards biscuit tin when we bought an unknown from mk dons for 1.5m instead of spending 20m on someone.
For me the board aren't perfect ( thank God as i find perfect people to be a pain in the a**) but i would rather the club is run by our board than that across the city.
07 Aug 2024 22:05:32
I agree with the fact that the squad needs strengthened etc but I find the continual cry of "basement mentality" tedious. You don't need to spend big to get a good player. Matt O'Reilly 1.5M, Maida 1.6M, Hatate 1.4M, Wanyama 900K, Frimpong 350K and many others would not even have been considered as all 6 of these players together cost less than 6M and we should only consider spending that money on one player not 6. You could also add Liam Scale at 500K.
Spending big does not guarantee success and neither does accumulating money in the bank so I think I will just trust the board and manager etc to do the right thing. I know most here have it in for the board but I would like to know how they got their positions on the board as I am ignorant: were they nominated and if so by whom or perhaps elected and if so by whom?

@Timalloy
I try to respect everyones opinion and over the years many on here have spoken negatively about John Kennedy and i have never understood why. I was wondering could you explain why you don't rate him because against this opinion there is the fact that Rodgers (an extremely successful manager for us) tries to take him to Leicester and now Ange (another extremely successful manager) wants to take him.

Must say I was half expecting Anne Robinson to make a post on this thread. If I think back, as someone else has said, anyone of our players could at some stage or other been considered the weakest link. It is true that at the moment the backline is weakest but ceertainly since Jow Hart came in that has been changing. In the game against hearts Celtic had 74% possession with 19 shots but only 7 were on target resulting in 1 goal for Anthony Ralston. Perhaps the forwards are the weakest links because if they scored with their shots the fact that hearts got two goals wouldn't have mattered as we would have scored more. Interesting that our goal came from a defender that until his recent performances most would have considered not good enough for Celtic.

Whilst I agree with everything that has been said, my take on it is that the team is doing what it has to do. Do they switch off a little in second half, possibly and yet no one has managed to put the ball in our net. Possibly when we are so far ahead of the competition it is easy to switch off. I would hope that against better opposition this will be less of a problem.
In Europe I just feel that we shouldn't go toe to toe against the big clubs and at times we need to realize that sometimes it is better to do what Scottish clubs do against us and defend, hoping for something on the break. I suppose we can play beautiful like we did against Madrid and lose 3-0 or be more pragmatic like Neil Lennons team that got to to the last 16 in 2012.
29 Aug 2024 18:27:44
Would have preferred Dortmund and Atalanta at home but definitely think we can do well in 4 home games but the away games will be tough.

Can Steve Davis get out of this snooker?

I feel tonight just like the Lazio fans did four years ago when Nitcham got the winner in Rome in the 95th minute. I watched the game tonight with some friends who support Lazio as I live in Rome. Before I had a chance to say anything they admitted that they had stolen the game as Celtic were by far the better team. The Lazio team we beat home and away just four years ago was far superior to this team. It's true they are not some Cypriot mob but they aren't far of it. Unfortunately in football the better team doesn't always win.

Just saw Ed's post that Timalloy is having difficulties with his health and I was sorry to hear it and want to assure him of my prayers for him, Mrs T and the ghirls. In my recent reflections I came to the conclusion that silence is more important than the word. The word is founded on silence as it comes first. In the deep silence God spoke "Let there be light". Without silence words don't exist as there is silence, even if just a fraction of a second, between one word and another or it would just be a continual noise which makes no sense. In times like this there are no words just silence and in that silence we find meaning for everything. Get well soon.
