All a will say is if eddie howe has to be persuaded to come it won't take a lot to persuade him to leave in a year or so. Let's look elsewhere he isn't for us we need a long term plan.

Gar1888

1.) 08 Apr 2021 07:23:41
good point.
Not in any hurry to get in and assess what he has and what he needs.
There is still a Scottish Cup to play for and what a start it would be if he got that.
Not my first choice but.

2.) 08 Apr 2021 09:08:55
Did Neil Lennon not take a week to consider the offer after Lawwell approached him in the showers? Some amount of jumping to conclusions here, he's not even in the door and you've got him back out again.

02 Apr 2021 19:43:19
Howe meant to be at celtic Park could it be announced tonight?

Gar1888

1.) 02 Apr 2021 22:26:33
No. HH.

2.) 02 Apr 2021 23:01:42
The best way to check if these rumours have any substance is to check the odds.
Bookies have people who's job it is to keep them as informed as is possible (for obvious reasons) and they will find out well b4 we hear of any rumour.
With them still accepting bets at odds bigger then when Benitez was 1/9 (now 66-1) then I'd take it with a pinch of salt.
1/4 for me is just rumour.

3.) 03 Apr 2021 10:10:07
Check the stock exchange as it has to be announced there first as him coming would boost share prices.

4.) 03 Apr 2021 11:19:12
Pod the bookies will pay out on Kennedy if he manages 10 games that’s why the odds aren’t much shorter on Howe.
John Kennedy at 4/ 1 is the value bet as all he has to do is get through this round of the cup and see out the season.

5.) 03 Apr 2021 12:50:29
Vin the odds are for next permanent manager and with Kennedy being caretaker manager I doubt they would pay out with the scenario you're saying.
If the unthinkable happens and Kennedy gets the job full-time I don't think me betting him at 4-1 would make me feel much sense of happiness so I'll not be investing.

6.) 03 Apr 2021 22:01:55
Mate go onto any betting site go into the odds and they’ll tell u any manager for 10 games will be deemed permanent.

7.) 04 Apr 2021 10:10:08
Vin, I stand corrected mate!
I've just checked and it is exactly as you say.
"Caretaker and interim managers completing at least 10 competitive games will be deemed the permanent manager'
That'll explain why Kennedy is so short in the betting.

8.) 06 Apr 2021 11:51:13
No probs ma man he’s as low as evens now.

31 Mar 2021 19:13:08
Nick hammond resigned? Moves must be happening.

Gar1888

1.) 31 Mar 2021 19:20:39
Not sure if he was 100% responsible for the latest signings but his contribution has been poor.

2.) 31 Mar 2021 19:43:20
The plot thickens.

3.) 31 Mar 2021 19:46:30
I don’t think C.V. has helped new players settle.

4.) 31 Mar 2021 20:34:59
Yeah hammed away its offical.

5.) 31 Mar 2021 20:41:05
The sevco players seemed to settle no bad.

6.) 31 Mar 2021 21:02:29
Must be close to announcing a DoF.

28 Mar 2021 16:43:56
Just seen roy Keane in Glasgow its happening 😳.

Gar1888

1.) 28 Mar 2021 16:54:20
That's weird I'm sitting looking at hime on Itv at the England game.

2.) 28 Mar 2021 17:15:35
😄 🤣 😂.

3.) 28 Mar 2021 17:29:27
🎣🎣🎣 lol. On a serious note looks like he got clean shaven for his interview through the week lol.

25 Mar 2021 16:02:47
Roy keane is 100% celtic manager will be announced very soon. No sure am too happy about this but will give him a chance.

Gar1888

1.) 25 Mar 2021 16:16:40
Can see it after all the bad comments about him, not a season ticket seller in my opinion.

2.) 25 Mar 2021 16:33:00
If it's true I would like to see him MON and Damian Duff form a management team as there would be a god mix of everything required.

3.) 25 Mar 2021 16:33:18
Let's be honest you think a few bad comments going to put Keane off? Season tickets will still sell IMO. If the correct backroom staff with him it could work.

4.) 25 Mar 2021 16:45:34
I know it's not the first man to have betting suspended on but the fact Ed007 said this is what he heard weeks even months ago would suggest it's happening 😅. I'm not convinced by RK it really would depend on those around him like OAB says.

5.) 25 Mar 2021 16:51:56
Duff would be a good fit if it's Keane but am still of the opinion it's bull.

6.) 25 Mar 2021 16:53:40
If true I am absolutely devastated and feel totally let down by Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board.

7.) 25 Mar 2021 17:10:53
I think it will be Keane but I think that's an awful appointment. I think football has passed him by and he's a dinosaur. Made a living after football for being a grumpy bore! He's also been out of the game for years - hardly a superstar appointment. What happened to setting your sights high? From Eddie Howe or benitez to a moany ex player (granted an excellent player but not an excellent manager! ) .

He'll moan and moan and then resign moaning about the modern day players and the board not giving him 100 million to sign the worlds best.

8.) 25 Mar 2021 17:23:18
Harkin - DOF
Keane - HC
Duff - AHC

Yes Please.

9.) 25 Mar 2021 17:31:58
I don’t get the duff hype, he must be a ok coach but some people think he’s outstanding which I don’t get.

10.) 25 Mar 2021 17:34:06
I'm set to lift 1800 if he signs.

11.) 25 Mar 2021 17:37:09
A really don't see the big fascination with Eddie howe id take Keane over him any day.

12.) 25 Mar 2021 17:58:25
Gar 1888, do you have info or going by the bookies?

13.) 25 Mar 2021 18:25:47
Nothing concrete but I've had folk that know folk inside the club saying Desmond wants Keane and he's going to back him well. These folk been saying this for months. But they are saying its happening for sure. I'll wait and see am sceptical myself. But when folk are so sure you have to listen lol.

14.) 25 Mar 2021 19:00:04
I'm sure the £1.5m a year will deaden the blow of some negative posts.

15.) 25 Mar 2021 19:11:30
Don't want Keane but if it's him fair enough. Scottish football will be blockbuster next season on Sky with 2 big EPL heavyweights in the main job's.
Always bemused when people say it won't sell season books. It's Celtic we support. Managers, player's, CEO and Owners come and go. Supporting Celtic is unconditional. HH.

16.) 25 Mar 2021 20:17:36
If or when Keane signs I won't be buying anything celtic I want my money to go on a young upcoming coach with progressive thoughts and exciting football not a dinosaur.

17.) 25 Mar 2021 20:36:00
I'm the same Marco, they can get tae. if they appoint Keane.

18.) 25 Mar 2021 21:44:43
Like said it all depends who's in the backroom coaching.

They went out and got that guy Beale to help Slippy.

By all accounts it's Beale who sets the tactics.

So as long as we don't fill the backroom team with crap it could work with Keane.

Although I'd rather it wasn't.

19.) 25 Mar 2021 22:24:05
Well said Greentree. Its not a one man band.

20.) 26 Mar 2021 06:40:31
I'm unsure why we'd even be considering Keane other than the Irish connection to DD, if that's true? There has to be a load of other, better suited managers/ coaches out there.

I would also say that getting the structure correct with a very good D. O F coming in and running the footballing side of the club is more important than the manager.

Playing 😈 advocate, if Slippy G can win the league then there's no reason why Keane can't do the same, but he wouldn't be my choice.

21.) 26 Mar 2021 13:00:57
@Gar1888 I'd take Howe over Keane in a heartbeat. He's got a proven track record of building and progressing a team. I know he spent big money but keeping a club like Bournemouth in the PL for 4 or 5 years is a great achievement. Would Howe have won the Treble Treble when Rodgers left and then delivered the 9 last season? I think he would have. Would Lennon or Keane have won the Championship and led Bournemouth to a top half PL finish? Not a chance. So I'd see Howe as an improvement on both. The question mark is over his mentality and whether he could handle the pressures of Glasgow but he ticks the rest of the boxes for me.

DOF should be helping pick manager not other way around. Howe can't be demanding his own man for DOF roll.

Gar1888

1.) 06 Apr 2021 13:42:56
Why not if he is the new manager he will want his own men and rightly so.

2.) 06 Apr 2021 15:01:32
So if/ when Howe leaves we are back to square 1 and need a new manager and DoF? Instead of just keeping the DoF and looking for a new manager.

04 Apr 2021 16:13:15
Would we want howe in straight away or end of season? There is plus points and negatives to both. If you get him in now gives him time to assess squad and players should raise their game to impress new manager. But on a negative side results could be patchy till he gets his methods implemented.

Gar1888

1.) 04 Apr 2021 16:27:21
As soon as any new manager is to be announced the players will kick on if he's hear or not cause they know he's coming in video analysis on the team will be worked on meeting players on zoom will be done a visit to the ground etc will take place so it won't matter if n now or working behind the scenes in my opinion.

2.) 04 Apr 2021 16:40:32
Gotta get Howe in straight away, gives him a couple of months to judge players, see who needs to go, who needs to stay and see how big our club is and how big the size of job he has. Rodgers did the same. (Rightly or wrongly) it gives you insight and breathing space for the new season. Give Howe two games against sevco at the crumble dome to familiarise himself to enemy territory, before they uncage the orcs. In Howe I trust. HH and happy Easter bhoys and ghirls.

3.) 04 Apr 2021 18:09:30
I'm sure he will be watching every game to make assessments if he's coming in for next season.

4.) 04 Apr 2021 18:37:59
Covjim. best post for ages! Totally agree. HH!

5.) 04 Apr 2021 18:46:16
The new manager needs to start immediately.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think that's going to happen, LAW. No matter who it is I don't think they will officially take over until the end of the season, that's not to say he won't be working behind the scenes preparing etc.}

6.) 04 Apr 2021 19:08:51
Did the board not say that jk was in charge "till the end of season"

7.) 04 Apr 2021 21:32:45
I don't think it would be a terrible idea to allow Kennedy to end the season in charge and allow the new man to prepare for next season behind the scenes and assessing the current squad giving them a brief on his style of play formations systems and expectations so we hit the ground running would also allow him to get to know the director of football and form a working relationship and give details of the players he'd like or types of players needed would also give him a chance to really understand size of our club.

8.) 04 Apr 2021 21:59:28
Jaw 1888, sorry but I don’t agree mate. Kennedy’ or Lennedy as he’s known on here. This is the man who still plays Lennys players, plays lennys tactics and still goes by lennys subs times (60mins) apart from yesterday. Turnbull is 1st off after 60mins. Brown in front of soro even tho he’s now a SS in waiting. We should be building for next season. I like laxalt to an extent, but surely having Turnbull off 1st, soro getting 15mins and Taylor not getting a lookin is going to turn these players against Lennedy (if he stays) and at worse makes these players 2nd guess if paradise is the place to be to build their future?

9.) 04 Apr 2021 23:39:35
I get what your saying Jim but I just believe it would give the new guy some valuable time to assess the whole club he could still have an input with the team but I just think it would give him a great footing to kick off next season fully prepared just my opinion though.

03 Apr 2021 19:12:37
Fancy griff for 3 tonight.

Gar1888

1.) 03 Apr 2021 19:24:47
Gar, if LG doesn't score 3 tonight he should chuck it and the SS can help him with his child support 😉.

2.) 03 Apr 2021 20:22:39
This is embarrassing. We are the mighty Glasgow Celtic and we are struggling to break down a League One side.
This why Kennedy and Strachan have to go.
Hail Hail. 🍀🍀🍀.

3.) 04 Apr 2021 01:22:46
A fully fit Griffiths would have had at least a hat trick tonight.

01 Apr 2021 18:29:20
Am all for eddie howe will get my full backing. A just hope he realises the size of our club this ain't Bournemouth the media coverage and scrutiny is unreal. His last job had no pressure this is a big pressure job.

Gar1888

I think new manager needs bare minimum of 20m to spend we will be needing 5-6 real quality players plus maybe a few free's here and there. But in the market we will be shopping in these players will cost between 2-6 million. 20 million will be the very least a manager will need maybe more.

Good post LAW commons is a clown. No one knows how howe will do if he is our manager. But for me he has enough experience to be a success. My only concern is not having managed a big club ( but got to start somewhere when it comes to that) and his signings at Bournemouth weren't really the best but not sure how much control he had over that side of things.

Am not saying that Rayman what a was more or less meaning is training is always to prepare for your next game. Can't prioritize one over another. But I get what your saying too we do need to work on a style of football that will serve us well in Europe.

Thats nonsense rayman am sorry but you do have to work on tactics for league games when teams put 10 men behind the ball its no straight forward to just go out and beat them. And its being disrespectful to the rest of the league. Being complacent is what got us in this mess. Your biggest game is always your next one. Can't take europe anymore serous as you take anyone in the league.

I am pretty much the same i have doubts but at same time their is enough there for me to think he can be big success. If he is manger we are all 100% behind him. What am more looking forward to is the fact its a full regime change so new fresh ideas.
