Is it looking as good as they expected it too look?

Love seeing new stadiums and more importantly would love to see Celtic Park getting the main stand upgraded.

used to love going 'down the lane' when i lived in London, my favourite ground there. Always had a great atmosphere and was a proper ground. Also in my opinion the best fans in London, and Palace as well, for accepting a Tim in a Celtic shirt in those days.

You'll be glad to get home to Free Derry TTTS.

This is what I've been told is the Team tomorrow:

Gordon

Lustig
Ajer
Simunovic
McGregor

Forrest
Ntcham
Brown
Rogic
Hayes

Edouard

Few surprises in there, obviously need to wait to see if it's correct.
Off on Holiday tomorrow so going to miss a few games but I'm sure The Bhoys will manage without me for a couple of weeks!
Hope everyone enjoys the game tomorrow.
COYBIG 🍀🍀🍀.

I would play Griffiths to get him up to speed for the mid week games.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 20:45:56
Kev - I think Griffiths needs to be gradually brought in, can’t be rushing him to start games in case he has another recurrence of his injury

I kinda want Edouard to get us much game time and goals as possible in the hope we take 3 or 4 if Aek at home.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 22:24:17
Surely Griff could play top while Odsonne takes up the left. Not to begrudge Hayes a run out--but it is the first game of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 23:41:49
Been training since before the last Rosenberg game. Needs some game time get him bench ready for European games. Also Edouard is our only fit striker so I'd wrap him in cotton wool till mid week.

Hayes in because Sinclair still struggling and I’m surprised Gamboa is out. Lustig has lost a couple of yards and his passing deteriorated last season. Although one woeful pass led to McGreggors goal in the final.

I love the guy but he ain’t the future.

Will give you that one ED. As long as we get a high score 1st leg, you know if dembele or boyata will be back for AEK?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Boyata should be but Dembele will miss both legs.}

03 Aug 2018 18:21:57
Starting line up morra?

Gordon

Gamboa
Hendry
Ajer
Miller

Brown
Ntcham

I Know they are Ed, even beating galatasary's fringe/ 2nd team shows they have some firepower, BUT also an iffy Defence.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We lost 1-0 to Bohemians Prague 4 weeks ago, what does that tell you about us?}

03 Aug 2018 21:36:58
We need to take a win over to Greece. Know what you said about them Ed but they are a step up from what we have faced so far.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - What did I say about them, because I expect us to go through, don't you? Against a team playing their first competitive game under a new manager, with a new CB pairing that have never played together and a team that have lost their star player and top goalscorer, why shouldn't I be confident?
No matter if we had spent £50 million on 2 new CBs, £10 million on a new RB and signed Ronaldo just for a laugh, posters like you would still be on whinging and dragging every thread down with constant negativity.}

03 Aug 2018 22:30:47
😂😂😂 nae pulling your punches there eh ed007?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Johnny can handle it lol It's just the constant and repetitive negativity - some of it's verging on trolling - really drags the site down and it scunners me reading it.}

03 Aug 2018 17:01:08
Hi ED, i see AEK Athens beat galatasary 3-2 2 days ago, how do you think we'll do 1st leg? and what's everyones thoughts?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Friendlies are meaningless Brendan. I'll settle for a repeat of the last round's result, 3-1 at home and 0-0 will do me but I'm going for 2-1 at home and 1-0 win over there.}

04 Aug 2018 06:49:09
When the draw was done I thought that was the tricky one but after hearing their problems and seeing Hibs dump out Asteras I'm quietly hopeful we should sneak through.

So on the eve of the new season starting our manager has no new faces in his squad to push us on further.
No new faces as he tackles the task of getting us into Europe for the 3rd straight year.
Yet fans on here slaughter each other from some of them daring to have a go at the club for not being active in the window.

BR has won every trophy he has competed for in Scotland and lead us to 2 years in the CL. surely he has the right to have asked for a bit more backing.
Yes we will bring some in but we're the preparation work.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

03 Aug 2018 15:09:50
It’s all part of a cunning plan to dupe the opposition into believing we don’t care about getting better. Think of the hotel, new pitch and light show.

That’s the future.

03 Aug 2018 15:25:09
Haha magic is fishing for retaliation comments.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 16:25:15
Do people seriously believe the club heirarchy do not want to get better player so in the squad?
Do people not want the hotel, investment, improve pitch and floodlights?
I do
I also want Players who will make us better and who the manager wants.

Better quality will come when we have CL football
Options will increase when the overinflated EPL transfer window shuts.

The core of our double treble winning squad Is largely the same, Paddy never did much last season, the hair is a loss granted, but given the choice I’d have French eddy.

I take the point that you have to speculate to accumulate but this years signings will be of real benefit to next years qualifying, our squad should be enough to qualify this year, then with the prospect of CL football, sign quality and build.

Magicpole I take onboard many of your points and i appreciate you are a pragmatist, but they way I read your posts, you come across as doom and gloom 24/ 7. It’s your opinion (as you constantly inform us all the time) , but Munns opinion is that some people can be positive without being blinkered as you put it.

Help the faith brothers the quality will come.

I will go to the docs for happy pills. No players for the CL and start of the season plays havoc with my endorphins production. I am getting drunk now. Be laughing any time soon. You can rely on good gin to deliver.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Aug 2018 17:24:07
Island celt, not too sure our squad is strong enough to qualify for CL. We msy do it, largely depends who we get if we beat Athens? Losing Dembele is a blow. If he was fit then him and Edouard are a handful for any team and i would be much more confident we could do it. However take him out and i worry we where the support for Eddy comes from. Brown has an injury. He didn't look 100% this week. that's maybe where we need a McGinn to partner N'tcham. Without Brown we don't have that drive. I absolutely love Brown. Sinclair not firing. Still a bit weak at the back. Hendry is not the solution at CL level. Go buy McGinn now. The Aussie is coming and he may be, who knows a replacement for Paddy. However we need them in now. AEK will be difficult. The next round even more so. Rogic is back and hopefully Boyata and Lustig as well so we will get better but apart from our strongest starting 11, i think we are light.

Good points IC. however if the gd quality players are coming in when we reach the CL who do you think will come if we don't make it.
We are constantly told we have this super scouting network. who are they scouting if we can only get gd players when we are in the CL.
On here last season post were saying about the new back 4 of AR, JH, CA, KT. now they want lustig nd boyata back asap.
BR has been left blowing in the wind.
If we don't make the CL the people slating magicpole will be the first ones shouting there mouths of about the lack of signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2018 12:39:15
Haven't we learned previous lessons of just signing players for the sake of it? You end up with a squad size of 30 full of the Temmu Pukki's, Amido Balde's and Nadir Ciftci's of this world.

Spot on Island Celt if we can offer Champions League football the better quality of player we can attract.

We smashed our transfer record so to say the board is not backing the manager is nonsense!

03 Aug 2018 13:27:04
Ed you seen it's being reported that when the bhoy fae Man city signs there will be a clause for us to sign him permanently?
So Man city are now signing players loaning them straight out and selling them without ever doing any work with them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - They done it with Aaron Mooy as well.}

03 Aug 2018 13:47:49
That's a joke eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Chelsea do it as well, they had 38 players out on loan last season. Did Lukaku make any Chelsea appearances?}

03 Aug 2018 13:52:06
What's the point in them doing that?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They make money out of the deals Mooy was signed on a free and the set price was £8 million rising to £10 and they put buyback clauses (and probably a sell on clause too) in the deal. I think it's set at £20 million for Mooy, so if they sign him back they're basically getting a good Pub League player for £10 million and if someone else signs him City will get a decent cut of it.}

03 Aug 2018 13:59:26
Sure he played about a dozen times did he not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it seems he did play 15 games -12 in his first season and at the start of his second. I'm surprised by that but I'm a at a bad age and my memory isn't what it was lol.}

03 Aug 2018 15:06:04
I still watched it at that time and I can mind them saying he was the natural replacement for drogba
Is that guy mooy the same one that broke a bone in his back playing for st mirren or st Johnstone?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's him, he was at St Mirren for a couple of seasons.}

03 Aug 2018 15:46:39
That's all I remember about him. Had a bit of a round about career eh.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 17:03:36
Aye Kev, Mooy scores a goal in the premiership so he’s now worth 45 million - if only he was English they could say 65 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 17:34:22
Kev its frightening that Mooney went for £8mill. Look at Armstrong. £7mill and he will not be out of place in EPL. Mc Ginn £4mill. Its nothing for these clubs. Armstrong could go sell on for double his fee after 1 season in EPL. Look at Robertson with Liverpool. Went for hee haw and now talking about £35mill to take him out of Liverpool. We have at least 9 players who could get a game in 13 or 14 EPL teams. But we would only get half the transfer fee, if that.
Tierney, Ajar, N'tcham, Brown, Forrest, eddy, Dembele, McGregor, Rogic could all hold their own in all but maybe top 6 EPL clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 18:23:12
38 players on loan? Seriosly? That is just so fu (k£d up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's crazy isn't it? Tore Andre Flo works for Chelsea and his job is solely to look after the players out on loan. Here's a list of them all:

https://goo.gl/iB8Z7g

03 Aug 2018 18:42:57
I'm sort of speechless, Ed. My god!

So at the moment UEFA have narrowed the CL down to a dozen or a half dozen plausible victors such teams are enabled to commandeer the bulk of available playing talent on every continent globally. Nice. Hard to avoid the conclusion that the jig is up. Isn't there a monopolies commission or something? Be interesting to hear what the likes PL think about this.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's all geared towards the bigger clubs. I remember Ed002 telling me recently that there was a feeling growing throughout football that only a handful of teams can afford the top, TOP talent and that it's only going to get worse.}

03 Aug 2018 18:45:04
Also makes me think Paddy was a bit naive if not delusional at least the first time round when he determined to go back and fight for a role there. The system just isn't set up like that.

Sorry I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. Wow.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Paddy was always going to struggle to have any long-term future at City and Guardiola coming in wasn't going to help with that.}

03 Aug 2018 21:41:15
I think Paddy will struggle in EPL. He will end up at a good championship club.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 22:40:27
Maybe Chelsea should host a competition in the Dubai every year where the 4 different teams of loanees battle it out to have a 1 in 4 chance of a sub spot in cup ties the following season. Everyone's a winner.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2018 12:23:48
signing up any half decent players removes any chance of your opposition getting them.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 10:35:10
We will destroy sevco again this season they are doing the same old stuff signing anyone they can get their hands on. No real quality been brought in.

The sheep put up a good fight last night and I expect them and wee Lennys lads to finish above the sevies.

With Rodgers saying once the English window slams shut does anyone have any idea who he might have in mind from down south?

Hail hail.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 11:17:46
I don’t think he necessarily means we’ll be going for players from England but there may be a chance of getting certain players that we just couldn’t afford if we got into a bidding war with English clubs.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 12:15:41
Good point Kev.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 17:39:50
When the EPL window shuts, there will be players surplus to requirements that we may get on loan or some may be fringe players who the manager won't care about moving on but surly our market is overseas players from European clubs where the transfer fees are less. I really can't see why we have not moved for them now if that was the case. I think from England it will be loan deals only.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 22:47:44
I'm glad to say that Celtic's stock is rising under this regime. I think lots of young players would give it a second thought this summer that 2-3 years ago just wouldn't. I hardly need to run through the roster: Tierney, Ajer, Ntcham, McGregor, Forrest, Odsonne, Dembele. That's surely just exactly where you want to be as a young world beater. Hail f (n) Hail.
