Hello ed

Do Celtic still have any interest in James McCarthy or is the interest long gone?

BigBhoy

{Ed007's Note - Celtic and McCarthy are still hopeful a deal can be done with Everton.}

1.) 17 Jun 2017 12:09:40
Great to hear. Would be some signing.

{Ed007's Note - I think so too.}

2.) 17 Jun 2017 13:42:08
Duverne, Roberts, McCarthy, Onyekuru.

We'd win the CL haha.

3.) 17 Jun 2017 14:02:40
Any idea how much they want for mccarthy?

{Ed007's Note - No.}

4.) 17 Jun 2017 14:04:15
How does that work ed, are both Scottish and English teams not governed by the same home office rules regarding work permits?

{Ed007's Note - He's a much better chance of using the exceptional talent rules to gain a work permit for a Scottish team than in the English game. We've used it for Wanyama and more recently for Eboue Kouassi.}

5.) 17 Jun 2017 14:19:25
Never seen the bhoy but hope he's a good yin quite a big fee for a youngster but hopefully worth it.

6.) 17 Jun 2017 14:25:24
Cheers ed.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

7.) 17 Jun 2017 16:23:53
Signing Onekuru could bring problems for us in the longer term . If he didn't improve his % of international appearances we may have a player who doesn't qualify for a work permit in England and hence resale value may not be great.

8.) 17 Jun 2017 16:16:25
Ed007 . Thank you far clarification that a work permit for a footballer can be easier to obtain in Scotland than in England .
I think it was two years ago when I tried to make that point but I was laughed at and sneered at .
Long runs the fox but in the end he is caught.

Celtic supposedly interested in Ovidiu Popescu who plays as a midfielder for Steaua Bucharest.

They are looking for 8m though so this transfer would be highly unlikely.

BigBhoy

1.) 05 Apr 2017 18:35:43
I already had a post on this on the others page . A statement from his chairman said he has just had a wage rise but expects to loose him soon for around 3 million mark . The club won't stand in his way . My thoughts are where does he fit in? Why another centre mid after buying eboue?

2.) 05 Apr 2017 19:20:36
small change to us bb lol.

3.) 06 Apr 2017 15:37:33
Is he a CAM? Because his stats aren't too clever if he is.

18 Feb 2017 11:53:24
I heard Celtic are interested in Benoit Costil who plays as a goalkeeper for Rennes. He out of contract in the summer so can pick him up on a free.

You heard anything about this ed or is it just bs paper talk?

BigBhoy

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be surprised at all if we're interested in him but Fiorentina who thought they had a deal done in the summer will probably make another move along with Nice which the player would prefer as it means he stays in France.}

17 Feb 2017 17:19:17
Just seen on the Chelsea page that we are interested in Dominic Solanke.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and can play up front, on either wing and even attacking midfield.

BigBhoy

1.) 17 Feb 2017 18:08:16
Nice shout but he is looking for £50K a week for a new contract
from Chelsea and apparently Arsenal and Liverpool are looking at him.

2.) 17 Feb 2017 18:56:42
He would be a fantastic player, but not a chance he will arrive in the summer, if he does then BR will make him better.

3.) 17 Feb 2017 23:02:33
Having had my FM cap on, looking at who I would like, who is a free etc., this would be the ideal signing up top for me. Good pedigree, a bit versatile, and maybe somebody that could come in not expecting to be nailed on, but willing to make an impact. Chelsea pay their youngsters top dollar, but the overall package would be worth it imo.

4.) 18 Feb 2017 00:52:44
No way, obscene money, for an average player, there are kids starving all over the place, so some people want to pay these guys more money, so they can put another few Ferraris in there garage, changed days from the red clydeside.

5.) 18 Feb 2017 01:48:06
Apparently he turned us down in favour of Liverpool.

{Ed007's Note - That's not true, he's not been given permission to talk to anyone but he didn't need permission to talk to Celtic -different FAs and the 6 month rule. Ed002 explained it on Liverpool or Chelsea earlier. I'll try and catch up with her tomorrow to ask a couple of obvious questions like why even meet Celtic if Chelsea don't think he's worth the money he's asking.

6.) 18 Feb 2017 01:44:17
Aindoh, whilst I can totally appreciate money may be better spent in a football sense, by a club. Don't go using the 'there are kids starving line' dude. It's too blase really. All over the globe and throughout society money could be better spent. You might as well say somebody's season book money could be 'better spent'.

7.) 18 Feb 2017 11:38:14
There could be legs in this. Same circumstances as MD come up here for no fee play a couple of seasons in Champions League make a name for himself whilst winning trophies with the best team in Scotland then leave for a large transfer fee. It's a win win for everyone.

8.) 18 Feb 2017 11:41:03
Think there's a chance of getting him ed? Can't see us paying the boy 50k a week tho.

{Ed007's Note - I never thought we would have ever signed Dembele so there's always a chance. I'm still waiting to ask Ed002 about it all.}

According to Twitter Celtic are interested in signing Rickie Lambert from West Brom.

Anyone else heard this?

I reckon he would make a decent back up.

BigBhoy

1.) 30 Aug 2016 15:14:57
I really hope that's not true.

2.) 30 Aug 2016 15:15:16
Simunovic having medical at Torino.

3.) 30 Aug 2016 15:16:57
If he wants to come up n play second fiddle to Leigh Bhoy n Moussa I'll accept that.

4.) 30 Aug 2016 15:27:39
Ad have him over ciftci any day.

5.) 30 Aug 2016 15:29:36

What would your ideal team (realistically) be for the champions league group stages?

Mines would be:

Ward

Lustig Simunovic Skrtel Tierney

Brown Ntcham

Roberts Rogic Sinclair

Dembele.

BigBhoy

1.) 28 Aug 2017 20:34:27
Damn yes to the new goalie.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 21:10:27
I'd have Ward for sure. I'd also take a punt on Karius. Surely something could give there.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 22:10:51
Switch Dembele for Griff.

4.) 28 Aug 2017 22:31:19
At the moment think I would still give Armstrong the nod over Ntcham. Just feel that he offers more going forward and changes the way we attack as a team.

5.) 29 Aug 2017 18:05:29
Agree on armstrong. I think ntcham should rotate with brown for league games as i feel he is browns replacement. Only play them both together in champions league.

Does anyone know what's happening with O'Connell and Ajer?

Haven't seen them anywhere near the first team in weeks.

BigBhoy

1.) 01 Oct 2016 12:05:02
Ajer played for the development squad against Manchester city I am sure.

2.) 01 Oct 2016 12:12:28
O'Connell was only playing at start of season because we were struggling for CBs, which is why we also saw Ajer at CB.

I reckon Rodgers sees Ajer as one for the future and we will probably only see him in the first team if we have injuries and even then will probably be on bench.

3.) 01 Oct 2016 12:53:17
Would jus like to put a shout out to the dundee boxer mike towell who sadly passed away after his fight with dale Evans the other night. Great warrior n take my hat off to any man who steps inside a ring to fight. Mike your kid will be rightfully proud u were his dad. Rest in peace brother. HH.

4.) 01 Oct 2016 13:00:15
They are trying to find a loan club for ajer to give him first team experience. So I heard anyway - source? Can't remember.

5.) 01 Oct 2016 13:23:00
Loan move is a good shout. Would loan Ajer to one of Rangers rivals such as Kilmarnock or Thistle.

6.) 01 Oct 2016 15:29:38
Quite right sparky takes a lot of guts to climb through the ropes. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

7.) 01 Oct 2016 16:31:22
I hope they don't loan Ajer out, as that usually means the beginning of the end a youngster career with us . I like Ajer and hoped he would make it with us in a season or two.

8.) 02 Oct 2016 16:53:17
Well said sparky-1888. terrible that mike towell lost the biggest fight of his life after leaving the ring. he's a true warrior. You don't play boxing. God bless him and his family.

A lot more than 25 there.

{Ed007's Note - There's an A List and a B list.

List A:- A maximum of 25 players, two of whom must be goalkeepers. There are a minimum of eight places reserved exclusively for 'locally trained players'. If a club have fewer than eight locally trained players in their squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly.

What's a 'locally trained player'?

There are two categories:
1. Club-trained players – players who were on a club's books for three years between the ages of 15 and 21;
2. Association-trained players – players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight nominees on List A.

List B:- A player may be registered on List B if he is born on, or after, 1 January 1995 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday (players aged 16 may be registered if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years). Clubs are entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season, but the list must be submitted by no later than 24:00CET the day before a match.

2.) 03 Sep 2016 00:15:23
Bailey will be fit by mid group, youth keeper to tick boxes. But 24? (cough)
Ajer is still technically youth. Ambrose is ambrose. Looks like someone is picking up a wage and nothing else.

3.) 03 Sep 2016 09:13:19
Surely with internationals and experience players the European Team will pick itself.
Gordon
Gamboa lustig kolo Tierney (izzy scviatcenko simunovic)
Brown Bitton (rogic mcgregor)
Sinclair forrest Roberts (rogic Armstrong gms)
Griffiths (Dembele cifti)
Then you gave the inexperience youth ajar o Connel Henderson atchison untested at the level but very capable of a great break through on the big stage.
Personally I think rogic could be key as his flexibility across midfield. Hopefully br can sort Bitton out, personally think he is far capable of better that he shows. Sometimes it feels as he's a teenager being asked to put the bins out. the bins go out (just about) but they don't do it any enthusiasm and speed that you feel like pushing them out of the way and doing it your----sorry about the analogy hope it makes sense. He really does frustrate me sometimes.

4.) 03 Sep 2016 09:47:28
You think Sinclair, Forrest and Roberts will all start? No chance. Not even in the so called easiest group match at home to the Germans.

5.) 03 Sep 2016 09:50:16
Rogic has to play before forrest or roberts.

29 Jul 2016 23:42:16
Hello ed

What positions do you expect Celtic to strengthen by the end of the transfer window?

BigBhoy

{Ed007's Note - I think it will depend on who leaves, not just financially but the size of the squad is simply ridiculous. For two years RD spoke about needing to trim the squad and they still brought even more players in. For an example, there's no point going out and buying another CB, when they're all fit we'll have Sviatchenko, Simunovic, Toure, Boyata, Ambrose and now young O'Connell and possibly Ajer all vying for 2 maybe 3 starting spots. People are saying we need a RB while we have Lustig, Janko and Fisher, there's no way we'll buy a RB without at the very least one of them moving on. Where do Allan, Commons and Rogic fit into Rodgers' high pressing game? Is Ciftci even good enough to be a 3rd choice striker, what if LG or Dembele get injured?
I was talking to a mate on the phone earlier and his opinion is none of them want to leave because of bonuses for qualifying for the CL, once that's sorted and they're paid up we'll see players move on and free up squad places.
In saying all that I will be surprised if there isn't at least another 2 or 3 new faces just to allow Rodgers to put his own stamp on the squad.
For me personally I'd like to see a GK, a quality creative MF/CAM and another striker brought in.}

1.) 30 Jul 2016 08:44:56
Agree with Ed, if Celtic are to sign only one more player let it be a creative midfield player. We have been crying out for this for years. We really do need to move on some players as the squad is too big and bereft of the required quality!

2.) 30 Jul 2016 10:14:14
Like Ed, Ilot of talk about centre halves, forwards for me we are crying out for a midfield player who can dictate games with his passing. For the purpose of banter, a Paul mcstay type! Lots of banter about Allan, I have not seen enough to comment. Like all players I want him to be a success but worrying that Rodgers doesn't seem to rate him!

3.) 30 Jul 2016 21:27:12
Agree with you ed, dafa and angel, those 3 positions r key for me, said that in another post. If we don't bring another keeper in, which wouldn't surprise me unfortunately, then I'd rather go with tweak than Gordon. Never rated him at hearts n don't rate him at Celtic either.
Ed I heard a bit back ago vincent Jansen getting mentioned, although this was more so posters on here, have we ever been interested or had him watched?
Also with the Scott Sinclair signing, if it happens, do you think we definitely won't b going for elynoussi anymore? pity as I thought he would be a great addition, fast and with an eye for goal.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not aware of us ever being interested in Jansen mate, he's a cracking player right enough. Elyounoussi joined Basel earlier this month.for a 3 million Euros fee.}

4.) 30 Jul 2016 22:07:12
Cheers for the info Ed mate, never saw that, he looked a right good player as well and at 3 million euros and 21 I believe? would have fit the young, relatively cheap up and coming prospect. Add to that decent experience in Europe for that age and yet were going for Sinclair who's older than that and also has been hit and miss for how many seasons now. Pistol Pete and parks signing policy now, if there is one, makes no sense to me and if they're still doing it, which I'd assume somehow they're still involved? reason I say that as was reading an interview with dembelle who said we were after him in January, so looks to me like they are still involved in the signings as br clearly wasn't here, just like Rd wasn't here when Gordon was signed.
Jansen was mentioned on here before, although I assume it was nothing more than that but would be a good signing too and young as well.

Don't think signing a striker who is 23 and hasn't even scored 20 career goals is the way to go. If we need a sh*t striker who can't score goals then we may as well just keep ciftci.

Personally I would just promote one of the youth players to 3rd choice striker.

BigBhoy

{Ed007's Note - There's no point whining about it, it is what it is. No matter what the draw was there was always going to be the usual negativity from some quarters. You know the type, their first thought after we qualified the other night was to moan about the board gambling and not spending money or Bitton and how we'd get a doing in the group stages if the board don't buy CBs.
If we had drew Barca they'd have moaned about it being Barca again and even if we had got what was seen as an easier group they'd moan about it not being glamorous enough.}

This is the same defence we had last season and they conceded 23 goals in the champions league.

It doesn't matter how many centre backs we currently have its about how good they are and right now they aren't good enough. So we definitely do need another CB if we want to progress from last season.
