Good young team starting to be realised by posters here. We will get rid of those guys who are on the gravy train and replace with youth it takes a while as CONFIDENCE takes longer than fitness to build up. Defence is shaping up with options, including fisher and midfield will be the place to watch, again with options. Only shortfall Is front man who can help/ replace Griff when required and this won't be easy to do nowadays (remember Larsson at £400K! ) Pity ex Celts, who get paid by SMSM seem to think its good to Slag the team and manager. Notice Hughes recognised speed of team on break or after mistakes. support the team!

Let's just see how long the board keep their nerves when the big money clubs start flashing some cash.
We have the makings of a decent defence/ midfield if we can keep them together. Still need to replace CG though.

Nobody's denying we have talented, young players at the club Norway1. What most of us aren't happy about is the way the manager refuses to utilise them to suit the situation and the fact he shows blind loyalty and favouritism to the ones who are drastically underperforming.

It's great how everything in the garden is rosy when you turn on the style for 30minutes against a team from Inverness. Credit the team for 30min but the other 60 was the problem with ronnys starters. If we start the usual suspects in July expect euro defeat again as we won't face teams as bad as Inverness and they will exploit our deficiencies which Inverness failed to do.

Any news on Janko? Think if we bed him in before the seasons end that's Janko, Fisher and Lustig to choose from. Cole should be punted as he is surplus now we have CK-R who looks to hold the ball up better and have pace. What about returning strikers Stokes and Scepovic? Hopefully we move on a lot of the dead wood and sign a powerful CDM a versatile winger and a striker not too much to ask really.

The stats will show we won our last two league games without conceding at home - and of course the six points were very important.
In total honesty, we only played well in short spells in both games and on Saturday, were lucky not to be behind at half time.
I can understand why RD will not risk wholesale changes, while the league race is tight and we only have one cup left to play for, but he has persevered with out of form or ineffective players all season while there are plenty of options and permutations, that he must see in training every day.
Competition, is healthy and keeps players on their toes, so that guys who are not doing it on the park - and there are a few - have a hungry replacement waiting in the wings [no pun intended].
If he didn't think they were good enough, then why sign them?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2016 21:41:00
Evening Ed I've heard a rumour that SLY want to show our cup tie with Morton and it will be played on a Monday night . Have you any gen on it or is it as I say just a rumour.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything mate but the hold up in announcing when the games will be played is obviously until TV decides what games they want and when so I wouldn't be surprised.}

21 Feb 2016 22:03:50
Seemingly Tom Boyd mentioned it on his commentary for Celtic TV on Saturday . It would be hard enough trying to attract a crowd for a Saturday game so a Monday night could be a disaster hence Celtic being happy to take the TV money and to hell with the fans as per usual.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - No surprise there is there?}

21 Feb 2016 23:40:17
If this game is on a Monday and on tv then Celtic have to sort the ticket prices. And I don't mean put the game on the season book because that won't entice any more to turn up than is currently turning up on a sat. I think they should have it at £5 for adults and £2 for kids. Get people in who can't normally afford it. i think it would be nice if the club done something like that but I won't hold my breath.

Dear oh dear oh dear not football related but just watching this buffoon Boris Johnson gaffe, blabb, rattle, fumble through a press conference

How on earth can people "perm" him with being a future Prime Minister? he nothing but a circus act surely?

Then you turn to America and it looks as though it will come down to a fight between Clinton and Trump!

Frightening stuff/ times ahead folks!

Jamie, I think nowadays a lot of the public vote for personalities rather than issues.
I wonder how many people really know what Boris Johnson stands for, I bet a lot of them haven't a clue, they just find him entertaining when he's in front of the cameras.
It's the same with Trump, imagine this clown with his finger on the nuclear button, yet an awful lot of Americans seem to be taken in with his "I'll make America great again", mantra.
I hope people in Britain and America make their decisions by studying the pros and cons of an issue, and don't just back somebody because they find them entertaining.
Just because more normal politicians may be boring, doesn't mean that they can't be right on a lot of things.

Just caught up with all the posts from yesterday and just wanted to say a big well done to Welshbhoy on his £940+ win with his footie bets.
yesterday my usual Spanish bet on Barcelona rewarded me with BTTS, over 2.5 goals even though Messi failed to score. A bet I started about a month ago came up today in the Rayo Vallecano game BTTS and over 3.5 goals (they are an attacking side that score goals but lose lots also)
My other bets today in Spain is my usual one for Real Madrid, Ronaldo, BTTS and over 2.5 goals.
Here at home in the Sevco game I have taken BTTS, over 2.5 goals and a penalty (wonder who will take it now Waghorn injured)

Tim man city are 4/ 1 today do you know why? Also I noticed something yesterday that I am going to try for a while. Barcelona to win and btts with real to win and both teams to score. If you do it for their next two games as a fourfold. So I've done it for their next league and champ league games it pays between 60 and 70/ 1. You only need that once a season to cover you if you put on a tenner a week on it. And as you keep saying its a regular outcome to their games. You can even perm it to 4 trebles and one fourfold.

Garybhoy City are playing weakenend team 9 changes hence the 4/ 1. Well researched Gary I might try your bets. Today in Real game got my Ronaldo scorer bet up, waiting on BTTS and over 2.5 goals. Kicking myself as me, who keeps banging on about MISSED penalties in Real and Barcelona games NEVER had it on DOH.

Cheers Tim. I took safe option and layed bet with it all hanging on Ayr game had £100 on Forfar @5/ 1 and £100 on draw at 10/ 3 so healthy profit for a £10 acc. Had same this afternoon had £20 acc on West Ham fiorentina Dortmund and schalke pays £499 but again I have layed £70 on draw 7/ 2 and £30 on Stuttgart 17/ 2 at half time while schalke winning. Just over 20mins go but still nice profit regardless of final score.

yesterday was one of those games where the result was more important than how we played to put the pressure back on Aberdeen as with our goal difference they need Celtic to lose 3 games to overtake us.
Now to the game itself, in the end a decent win especially when Christie and Allan came on to liven the pace up a bit, both looked half decent, at least they got almost 30 minutes while poor Roberts only got about 8 minutes to impress.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

21 Feb 2016 13:58:45
Timalloy you always have a negative agenda against Deila. So what if "poor Roberts" only got 8minutes! Clearly you are not aware this was only his 2nd first team appearance this season including 1 at Man City. How dare Deila gently introduce a young player into first team this way! Just you concentrate on running your second profile "wee pat" and let Deila concentrate on first team.

I know we are very well off for midfield players, but I really hope we don't lose sight of Liam Henderson for next season.
He excelled whenever he was given an opportunity and has been a stand-out during his two loan spells and has loads of ability.
I still think we should have kept him and loaned out McGregor, but there you go.
If we off-load a few like Forrest, Mulgrew, Bitton and McGregor, we will still have plenty of options and the makings of a good side.

Bailey, Janko, tierney, simunovic, sheivechenko, ajer, Armstrong, Roberts, Allan, Christie and griffiths just for arguments sake but if not Nesbitt

Subs gms, megregor, Henderson, fisher, O'Connell, rogic, fasan, ckr

Versus

Gordon, Lustig, izzaguirre, Boyata, ambrose, brown, Biton, commons, Forrest, johansson, griffiths (again)

Subs stokes, mulgrew, Cole etc.

In the stand cifti, boeriggter, scepovic

What would the score be?

Just a bit of sunday fun!

If griffiths is allowed in team 1 then I know which one I think?

I think the second more experienced team would win.
I think if you are talking a year or 18 months down the line it may well be different.
I was very impressed with the youngsters in the second half yesterday, for the first time in a while there looked to be a bit more promise for the future, my concern though is how much benefit Celtic will get from these players, I hope Lawwell wasn't sitting in the directors box with the pound signs in front of his eyes.
I think though as well as they played yesterday, the match was already won when they came on, Inverness had pretty well gone by then, I'm not sure they would have had the same impact in the first half when Inverness were very strong and organized, they might have been out muscled.
That's why I think that our more experienced team would win the day, I think a bit of experience is still needed to guide the youngsters through.

21 Feb 2016 13:02:09
Great points there gerry. Over the course of a season the likes of Brown, Bitton and Johansen are still some of our better players. That's why my XI going forward is a bit of a mix of the two. Which is why I have no major qualms with the team selections so far. Bar not seeing Bailly given a run.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2016 13:56:45
I really don't see why people think scott brown is one of our better players. He does nothing for me. He never looks to pass forward always happy to pass to a defender or the player next to him. We play better with him out the team.

21 Feb 2016 08:45:33
Just seeing where Ronnie has said he will be slimming the squad down. I'm sure this time he means numbers and not weight! His comment about players who don't work hard will not get the jersey might explain why some players seem automatic picks - they work hard. The fact they are playing cripcrap is not relevent lol. Seriously, I hope this is now Ronnie showing some proverbials and stating his requirements. I've never been a Ronnie lover but not a hater either but as Celtic Manager, I would love him to succeed.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 Feb 2016 10:18:14
I agree with that mate, - Johansen has been better the last 2 games! GMS has been better also - it's quite simple, you call it as you see it, we all want Ronny to succeed but the team is still poor, and haven't improved! He has to learn to be more ruthless then at least if he fails he can say he stuck by his beliefs! It was good to see Forrest, Ambrose and Izzy not even make the bench, they haven't merited it! Sentiment can never come into it, the great managers are Ruthless! I just wish a Chinese club would come in for a few! In my opinion though it's time for the guys I mentioned plus Commons, Cole etc to move on!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2016 10:24:32
Also for me Biton has been awful this season - like Craig Gordon he has hardly had a good game all season/ since he signed his contract! None of these guys should be automatic picks! I like the look of Sviatchenko though and think he could even cover left back and defensive midfield.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Feb 2016 10:42:53
Think that is Ronnies biggest fault, he is much too loyal to players that are not playing well, his philosophy, seems to be, it is better to keep an underperforming player in the team, so that he can get his confidence back and his performances to improve, it is totally ludicrous, Ronnie needs to buy himself 'How to be ruthless for Dummies'.

I have been thinking of my wish list for next season.
New managerment team

Ins
Goalkeeper ( Someone who can catch crosses ) as well as shots)
Right Back ( If Fisher isn't good enough)
2 Centre Backs (Height, Strenth and Pace)
Left Back (Back up to Tieney if Issy is not up to it)
Ball Winning Midfielder
2 goal scorring Forwards

Outs
RD, JC and JK
GG ( Not good enough )
Bailly ( can't kick or cut out crosses)
Amborse and Boyata ( Enough said )
Blackett and O'Connell
Decide what is our best attacking midfield and stick with them add a couple of youngsters and clear all others out.
Keep Griffiths and Nesbitt and get shot of all the others including CC and CKR
I would clear 18 to 20 players from the squad including those on loan.

21 Feb 2016 09:26:32
So you want 2 more centre halfs in as well as having Sviatchencko and simonovic. To satisfy your needs I would probably suggest playing football manager but even at that you would struggle to complete your vision as it's quite a good simulation of the real thing but the only trouble is you would get sacked if you attempted that.

As I have said all season players like Armstrong, GMS, Johansen, Boyata, Gordon, Brown simply aren't good enough to be first team starters. They are holding us back big time and playing ahead of much better players on the bench and even in the stands.

For me, a team of.

-------------Bailly-------------

--Lustig--Erik S--Simunovic--Tierney

---------Bitton---Rogic--------

--Roberts---Commons----Allan----

------------Griffiths-----------

Would do fine for the rest of the season, don't care what anyone says Ambrose is a better CB than Boyata and he would play ahead of Boyata for me and the jury is very much out on Simunovic who hasn't been convincing either.

Bench:
Gordon
Colin Kazim Richards
Christie
Janko
Ambrose
Izaguirre
Forrest
Nesbitt

Looking at the team and squad going forward we'd need a new striker capable of getting vital goals in Europe who could be trusted (Maybe CKR is the answer who knows) , a new CB and a new GK. Also Izzy should be getting rotated with Tierney more often.

Punt:
Blackett
Brown
Boyata
Armstrong
GMS
Ciftci
Scepovic
Boeriggter
Mulgrew
Stokes
McGregor
Johansen
Cole
Duffy

Think of the wages we would be saving shedding this lot?

Unsure on:
Henderson
Fisher
O'Connell

That would see us shaping up nicely going forward, but our buffoon of a manager will never catch on, be better with Stevie Wonder in charge.

Believable1 Unbelievable9

21 Feb 2016 02:38:07
this loses all credibility when you suggest brown should be punted. We should also keep Mulgrew. RD has signed three centre halfs this year and none of them look as though they will be good enough. Erik was shown up a couple of times today for lack of pace.

Agree1 Disagree2

21 Feb 2016 08:33:44
Rogic as a holding midfielder is a nonsense, with him and bitton there we'd have no midfielders with any presence. Bitton is good on the ball but surely you noticed how poor he was without brown next to him. Last season johansen had a few bad games when brown was out too and has been the same this year. Even if brown plays poorly he drives players around him on.

As you've said grout I agree about mulgrew, he had a great season as a centre back, so someone decided he was no longer a centre back and played him in any other position!

Think the abuse stefan johansen has recieved this season from some fans has been pathetic. Fair enough he has been a shadow of the player he was last year, still no justification for the level of abuse. Some fans even starting to go the same way with nir bitton. Yes they do deserve to be criticised to some extent for some of their performances but these players are key to us looking to go anywhere in europe and should not be hounded out of the club. Some suggests that neither player wants to play for the club but i see no evidence of this. We should get behind these players and not be constantly putting them down.

He deserves every last bit of it, no one likes a teachers pet and he is certainly one of them who can do no wrong. I call players like him an 'enemy from within' and we have quite a few of them at Celtic Park and maybe even the manager as well, Gordon another.

Players who are so bad they make us a shocking team and at risk of dropping points on a weekly basis. If Ronny is no going to root them out soon enough then he MUST leave asap.

@thepoeticpatient

Players who are constantly going to cost us points every week time and time again and get us knocked out of Europe and cups through their own poor footballing abilities and there are plenty at the club Armstrong, Johansen, GMS, Boyata, Gordon and there are many others are the very definition of the 'enemy from within'. If a player makes Celtic football club worse every week on the park and therefore is going to cost us points and games then that is exactly what they are.
