What's this chat about gerrard? Is there any truth in it? I would 100% take him.

hope not just in case he slips and rangers pip us to the title lol.

2.) 08 Nov 2016 17:06:34
I would 100% not take him, vastly overated hasbeen.

3.) 08 Nov 2016 18:54:22
I'd have him ahead of Bitton or McGregor any day of the week.

4.) 08 Nov 2016 20:59:00
His best days are well behind him. Why do we want another 35 year old no matter how good he was several years ago. Remember when we signed Freddie Ljunberg? Like Gerrard, in his day he was a great player. By the time we got him he was done. This won't be any different. I think it's too big a risk for us. We don't need him to win the league and in a European arena where we do need some class he is not up to it any more. Just my thoughts!

5.) 08 Nov 2016 21:19:08
I wouldn't call Gerrard overrated. He was some player in his day, but, his day has passed. He has one slipper in retirement and would be a complete waste of money.

What is the point anyway? Why do we need a player who will give us 10 games maximum before he hangs up his boots for good. We are all but done for in Europe bar a miracle. We are so far ahead of anyone else domestically it is embarrassing so what would he bring to the table? It is obviously the media taking a flyer because of the Rodgers link. Roy Keane written all over it.

6.) 08 Nov 2016 23:01:05
Gerrard in his prime was one of the best midfielders in the world, but his prime is long gone I'm afraid! He's not even close to what we need right now and I'd be stunned if BR was interested in bringing him in! We need somebody in the middle of the park to help brown but Gerrards not the answer!

7.) 09 Nov 2016 10:51:04
I'm sure if he does come to Celtic they could be looking to add him to the coaching staff when he does hang his boots up.

8.) 09 Nov 2016 19:50:46
I just hope if this happens it doesn't stop us replacing bitton with a better centre mid.

9.) 10 Nov 2016 12:18:39
Would be a good signing a big one fans could appreciate a couple of years to late though.

10.) 10 Nov 2016 16:13:08
He is very much past it, if he was playing well in the USA, there would be no question of him leaving there.
Bringing him back and giving him some sort of coaching role, is admission that the club thinks he doesn't merit a player's contract .
Giving him, some sort of a coaching role would be a big gamble as he, has no experience coaching, and may or maynot fit in with existing coaches in what ever group he is coaching and this friction could cause disharmony and upset coaches and their players . If we need a coach for some particular group far better to recruit one by going through normal recruiting procedures than impose someone into group.

Hopefully with that result last night will be the last time we see ambrose in a Celtic shirt, brown with the captains armband ( never a Celtic captain) biton I don't what's happened to him! He's far to slow on the ball! Christie is never Celtic class! Only reason I think Roberts never played last night is because of the pitch, trying to protect him of an injury!

Paulinho

1.) 13 Jul 2016 13:05:23
Browns a disgrace, I hope your right about Roberts otherwise it's really hard to understand what the hell was going on last.

2.) 13 Jul 2016 14:04:10
I can't believe what I witnessed last night. Janko was awful, Ambrose let's just not bother. Biton, god knows where he has went. Brown the magician of passing sideways, Griffiths on the right was confusingand then choosing to bring on Forrest over Roberts awful. I get the conditions may have been difficult e. g. heat and a plastic pitch. But we play on plastic pitches here. This is a team of 'professionals' losing to people who have daytime jobs. Unbelievable. Us as fans have invested in what PL and DD have done with BR. Time for them to invest in our club.

3.) 13 Jul 2016 14:04:14
Agree with all that!

4.) 13 Jul 2016 15:07:54
Clicked disagree by mistake but also agree which was meant.

5.) 13 Jul 2016 23:39:13
folks this is about

attitude
hunger
winning mentality
being unprepared to lose
fight
spirit
caring
as in really actually caring

we have lots of players who talk a good game …they probably think they are good players …. but they rarely get to an acceptable standard

the standard in scotland is very poor…we are the best of a very poor lot …i think we will get better but turning the seasoned pros in our team around in to "winners" with the right mentality will be very very difficult

this isn't a form thing …. or a set-up thing…i thinks e all agree that there is a hard core crop who seem to get picked regularly who (simply put) aren't very clever on the ball…off the ball…IE simply not very good.

Right now that the window has shut! Is there any free agents out there that would be worth a punt?

Caceres!

I see Jason Denayer been told to look for a new club. Would bring him back before we went in for Paddy McNair, don't really rate the guy tbh.

I would take JD back anyday.

2.) 09 Aug 2016 10:34:25
would he come back tho? and could we afford him?

3.) 09 Aug 2016 11:15:38
Don't think he would want to come back.

4.) 09 Aug 2016 11:56:16
I heard Southampton were looking at him.

5.) 09 Aug 2016 12:10:28
Due to my boss being a Man Utd fan i had to endure watching them quite a bit on my last few Projects abroad. I just do not rate McNair at all. Every game i saw him in he was rotten.

6.) 09 Aug 2016 15:24:42
Do people forget that JD didn't say nice things about the club when he left? Also he is no where close to the player he was when here, he has gotten worse and his ego has grown a lot. He thought he was the best after new contract at city and has gone backwards.

7.) 09 Aug 2016 16:20:33
Agree Footy.

He tested himself in Turkey and only played around 20 games. He played around 50 for us so when he looks back he has to think it was more beneficial playing for us. It would be more beneficial than him sitting on the bench at City as they have just signed John Stones for nearly 50 million.

Serious question but would he walk into our team with Sviachenko, Toure and O'Connell all impressing? Do we need him? Was he only good because he had one of the best centre halves I have ever seen in the hoops beside him in VVD?

8.) 09 Aug 2016 16:42:00
never said anything derogatory about the club, same as VVD, it was the league.

We know that every year our season starts in mid July, yet year after year we are never prepared for it.
Most fans know where the weak areas are in our team, I can't understand why supposedly intelligent managers seem to take so long in figuring it out. When you have opposition fans singing "there's only one Efe Ambrose", and cheering when they hear his name read out at the start of a match, then it's not rocket science to know that he can't be very good.
The people running the club have to realise that we play a lot of our biggest games of the season in July, we have to try and get a lot of our business done by then, there are plenty of teams in Scotland and England who have done a lot more business than we have even though their seasons don't start for another month, how are they able to do it yet we can't? .
I know we should still qualify, but that doesn't take away the fact that last night these players made us a laughing stock, some of them should never pull on a Celtic jersey again. But I am equally annoyed at the management in allowing these players to start this season after some of the awful performances they turned in last season, leopards don't change their spots.
I don't care what the competition is, performances like that one last night should never be tolerated, it's time the powers that be got their fingers out and ensure we never see a repeat.
