Really enjoying this season, the team is playing really well, everyone looks motivated and hungry. What's really pleasing is that BR reacts to the match and makes changes, and when players aren't up to it, Armstrong speeds our play up so much better than bitton for our system. I'm just thinking if we can build on this next season, we really will be a handful!

Prior to BR appointment a lot of posts seemed to say that BR doesn't have the tactical awareness to change a system, I didn't know enough about BR to have an opinion on this, but it seems to be part of his style up here.
So far he seems to be quite positive in respect to substitutions.

Most things seem to be coming right for Celtic just now . One of the reasons is that Brendan has surrounded himself with players he likes and players who like him . This means I M O players are going and giving the extra bit in training and this shows in matches . Last night the players were out on their feet, two high paced hard working games 3 days apart but the team didn't give up from start to end .
I think Brendan may be going to have a problem, last season with his 40 goals L Griffiths was the golden eye bhoy . Leigh started this season well but an injury put him out of the first game against a Govan side and Dembele has been brilliant . B R doesn't want to alter the team's formation and is worried about playing 2 strikers, something has to happen or we will have a blip in the squad.

Griffiths has still been playing most matches, although he has been coming on as a sub.
It is just hard luck for him because you can't drop Dembele now. So Griffiths will just have to be happy with his cameo appearances and patiently wait for an opportunity.

I think the team will be enhanced with Dembelle and Griffiths playing together, just don't think of it as playing two strikers.

I daresay that you could play Griffiths and Dembele in the same team but Rodgers has his system and unfortunately for Griffiths he only wants to play one striker at the start of each match. It is hard to argue against Rodgers system as it is bringing success and entertainment.

Aindoh, I have no problem with B R should he want to play four strikers, as long as he is successful at Celtic and playing attractive football, he deserves the right to play whatever formation he thinks is best .
B R has frequently said it is nothing to do with playing 2 strikers, it's more the need to play the other nine outfield players doing the job he wants them to do.

I'm amazed that some of us are using the heat and pitch as an excuse for losing in a gutless pathetic performance against a part time team. I couldn't care if it was played on sand, it's not acceptable! It's genuinely worrying, i remember BR playing Danny Ings wide left to accommodate others, I hope this isn't the future with griffiths out wide. Let's see the lineup Wednesday, if bitton n brown are in the team then i fear it's going to be a long season.

Just catching up reading through the fall out there, (by the way it is embarrassing) and these two points seem to be the recurring themes.
The pitch helped with their goal. No denying that. Their forward reacted better to what is an unnatural bounce - probably through experience - and Efe to be fair, was a bit helpless in that instance, and I am not an Efe fan. That said, we should have won the game, and at least registered a goal ourselves. Again though, it was just a clueless and for some effortless performance in a key game.
As for the whole LG on the right thing. Again, we still should have won! I get the idea, just not the timing perhaps. The key factor in the equation though is Roberts. Of the players we have now, our best front 3 would be Dembele LWF, Griff ST, Roberts RWF imo. I can only assume either Roberts hasn't been 100% or BR would rather build something with our 'own' players. Roberts was used sparingly in the friendlies and obviously didn't even get a chance in Gib. Take him out the equation, and I can't say I disagree with Dembele more in the middle and Griff more on the right, but that's mid-term, it's always going to be a gamble experimenting during qualifiers.
A point I'll add. And persist with - Johansen. He was missed.

Said before jim haven't seen dembele at Fulham . can he play there or is it another shoehorn job. as with that 3 imo it removes rogic from the the team and is this boy good enough for that . all I know he had a half decent season and those where his first senior goals . I said when we signed him I'd rather ease him into team bringing him on when we are in a controlled lead.

It's a bit of a shoe horn DRB. And just a short term idea. But with a front 3 and our squad right now it's going to be, I mean, who are the natural wingers? Forrest? Mid-long term Dembele can be a great striker in the middle for us, in fact we should be looking at him replacing Griffiths entirely, further down the line. But he needs to be playing, he's comfortable in the wide area and I just think if BR is insistant on MD and LG in a front 3, for the qualifiers at least, and until we get another winger in, we should line up like I said above. Or just drop either MD or LG. We needed an extra wide man anyway, there's even more of that emphasis now. We've already heard we'll see different shapes. And Rogic for me does not fir in a 433. Rogic was playing CM on tuesday, which he isn't, he's a CAM. Either behind a front two or in the middle of an attacking 3 behind one striker. Again, either do that or don't play him at all. I have my reservations a wee bit though, if Rogic is THAT good to build a team around.

I'm not being flippant, but we should have been able to beat this team with Craig Gordon playing at Centre forward.
It's just a recurring theme with this squad that whenever we play any kind of important match whatever the level of opposition, too many of this squad go missing. It's okay to look good against Motherwell on the last day of the season when there is no pressure, but we have to get players in that don't mentally fall to pieces whenever a match means something.
Rodgers will need to get his finger out and fast.

I kinda agree he might not be tge player to build the team around . but he was among the few who done well last season. I've also said if we had bought dembele from the 4th bottom second div french team would he even be in the squad or is it the fact spurs offered what they did getting him overhyped?

The team I would play has Rogic in it. If we had good wingers for both sides I'd bleed Dembele into the side as second choice striker, for now, absolutely - half an hour at the end of a game, playing weaker sides at home to give LG a breather etc. But we don't, and he's a tidy footballer, who shouldn't look like a martian playing around the final third. The clubs he had seriously interested in him speaks volumes really. If we had a France youth International scoring goals being chased by Juve, Spurs, Chelsea etc I'd even sign him from the Scottish second division! A lot of it is just promise though, but it should be nurtured.

First time poster, very happy about this Tyler Blackett move, just hope we can sign him permanently if he has a good season. Is there anything else in the pipeline ed?

Im not happy, why bring in and give other teams player games getting them game time and expierence only for them to go at end of season. We don't get payed/transfer fee so wheres the logic? Weve went backwards big time defo over past 2 seasons.

iv no idea what went on there, why were loaning out youth who should be playing for us doesn't make sense. If there not ready fine, I'd have Henderson over brown every day of the week. Far better footballer! I'm not sayin Allan is great but definetly deserves a chance like Christie, Nesbit etc. Sorry bit of a rant, I'm just sick of us neglecting our youth when it should be a conveyor belt of good young players. Like Ajax, feyenoord and Psv.

No one likes losing but we're playing against the best team in the world, who can spend £75mil on one player! There's been a lot of positives n I think we'l reap the benefits next season. I know izzy was at fault but look who he's up against! I still enjoyed the game, I thought brown was immense, I thought he was done, but he's been fantastic!

Lasse shone is his name, I think he's a good player too, he's not a guaranteed starter at Ajax either. Everytime Iv seen him I thought he played well. Flamini would be good too if his wages aren't too much.

Must be a loan of true, he'd probably take a huge cut in wages, but because he loves Celtic he'l do it, and he gets champions league. I'd be shocked if he did come, loads of teams down south like him.
