if he's the marquee signing they'll be a riot, nae offence to the boy but he's no the calibre of player I was thinking more alone the lines of a yaya toure, nasri folk like that well out our price range but man city maybe pay most of there wages just to get them away nearer deadline day. just using man city as an example.

Why would there be a riot? I don't think we've actually been promised a marquee signing. Sinclair, Toure and Dembele are all massive improvements on our recent signings. If we add another one or two signings of that level then it will have been a fantastic window.

It's been mention everywhere that there's going to be one and if there was and it was wisdom would you be happy? could end up without one but I'm also happy with how things are going so far and another couple at that level would be me as well but the boy mentioned wisdom as the marquee signing.

What is a marquee signing though? Someone we pay 50k a week? Someone who costs 8mil? Someone who is a huge name but getting on a bit? As long as they improve the team I couldn't care less if they are a 'marquee' signing or not.

Don't get this 'marquee' thing. There is a wage structure within the club and gone are the days of spending £6m+ on a player - even though we have a large bank balance thanks to CL qualification.
Prices are very over-inflated - especially in England and the bottom line must be to simply find better players than we have at present, by replacing players who have left or are too old.
The club have managed to find very good players in the past in various parts of the world (like Nakamura, Moravcik, Larsson, VVD, Wanyama and Ledley etc, etc, etc) that entertain the fans bring success, can also earn the club money and don't cost a fortune.

As for the potential signing of Wisdom, I think its pretty clear that one of our right backs is good defensively but doesn't have the legs to get forward any more, while the other has the legs to get forward but doesn't seem to have much else! Wisdom should provide a balance of both. People will look at his recent loans but look at Sinclair. Similar CV but he looks a cracking signing so far. Wisdom could be the same.

The harsh reality is with money in for out going players we have spent about 1.5 million we are screaming out for an experienced midfielder that can set the tempo of a game and dominate and BR must see this? Bitton slows us down it would amaze me if we are not looking for someone in that department of our team.

First time poster long time viewer of the page, just want to say that from what I've seen of Wisdom he's always looked the part to me, think he could turn out to be a good addition to the squad if he's brought in, far better player than Paterson from the Hearts.

People asking for an experienced midfielder who can set the pace of the game, it's simple we have him, rogic! Minus the experience but he's done well for us every game so far, still reckon a full back and a centre forward required imo.

As far as I know the only person that mentioned a marquee signing was Skinnybhoy.

We don't need to spend £6-8 Million if we can get another player who can turn out to be a Lubo/ Henrik signing for £1-2 Million

And by that I mean not a lot of us had heard of Henrik and no one had heard of Lubo when they signed.

Think we need a cdm but all in all the signings so far are good and a vast improvement in the last 3 or 4 years imo.

I think janko deserves a chance in the team. Yes he wasnt great against hbs but was any other player?
Hes a kid and forrest didn't exactly help him out in the defensive side.

Way to soon to launch another kid on the scrapheap based on that game imo.

Agree with you there Tick67. He had one bad game but so did the rest of the team. I personally think the tactics were wrong for the game and we should have started with the 5. Easy to say in hindsight though.

As for wisdom, the boy has come through liverpools academy and a few Liverpool fans I know rate him highly. He is definitely better than anything in the SPL. He hasn't even signed for us yet and he's getting written of. How about letting him play for us first then judging him. Doesn't really matter if a players been shite elsewhere does it. He'll probably benefit playing in a team that dominate most games.

I still think there will be another signing or two so quit your crying.

Wisdom might not be cafu but he's definitely an upgrade on what we have, as for the marquee signing. I don't think anyone from the club came out and said there would be this type signing. Going mental on forums because we aren't spending loads of money on a marquee signing. wtf, get a grip, br will build the squad over a few transfer windows. Does spending big on a player guarantee he is going to win us trophies? Every year towards the end of the window we start this marquee nonsense. Give over. i'd be happy with wisdom and maybe 1 more. Reign it in bhoys. Trust in the management.

But why buy from EPL how come we do not plunder Eastern and western and Central Europe for players spend £10 million on five or more players not young players 24 to 29 year olds that kick with both feet can pass and hold the ball and best of all battle-hardened £3 or 4.000 a week wages, and some of them you could sell on, there are plenty players out there that would jump at the chance and give 110% in every game.

That way we could could ditch the dead wood that is still there.

Have to agree with you Beardybhoy on Wisdom

To many people on here right off players before they even sign or kick a ball.
Kolo and Sinclair were declared as duds or past it and personally I think they have both been a revelation. Dembele is also getting criticized but still needs to settle in.

I personally don't care how a players has performed at his previous club, if the board or managers thought that way we would never have signed the likes of Sutton or Hartson.

Look at O'connell, forrest and rogic they have all turned the corner after looking dodgy but giving them a run of games has built there confidence and there looking good.

He could turn out pish mate but he could also turn out like Tierney.
