I think we currently have another super Swede in the Celtic team that is massively underrated, always gives his all for the cause and most importantly loves the club every bit as much as another famous Swede did. I'd have given him player of the year just for putting the beach ball on his head when running past Joey Barton in the 5-1 game! ☘️.

Here's just a thought on Paddy Roberts if we do go for him I think that KT could have an influence in PR coming back they seem to be great mates maybe a wee word from KT could do the trick?

Just saw on Twitter that the Paradise pitch has started getting ripped up. If this fancy new surface really does help us play more fluently then we're in for an absolute treat!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - The hybrid installation takes 12 weeks, Kev and we don't have that time so it's been done between now and next years close season. This summer we're upgrading all the undersoil heating and drainage system and putting in the foundations for the new hybrid pitch being installed next summer.}

29 May 2017 16:22:29
Cheers Ed. So this season should still be an improvement on the muddy patches we saw this season. I heard a guy on the radio explaining the hybrid pitch and he said it's just natural grass but with wee fibres added to the roots or something so won't look like a dog's dinner i. e. Hamilton or Killie.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Yeah it definitely should be an improvement on this season. Have a wee watch at this

29 May 2017 16:41:54
Just a quick question Ed, if we don't have 12 weeks this summer, how are we going to have 12 weeks next summer? In fact when do we ever have 12 weeks?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - It's been done over two close seasons, Boab, this summer and next.}

Any idea of they have just ripped the pitch up or if you can purchase a bit of it? It would be a good money spinner.

{Ed007's Note - They could have done that and donated it to charity but as time is so tight they probably didn't have time to cut it up into small squares.}

A wee post for our older supporters who had the joy of the lions in their prime.
Hats off to all you gents for the insights and banter, you've followed Celtic through the majestical stein era, the quality street era, the 'new firm' 80's, the brutal 90s, the joyous MON Seville days, the cost cutting that followed and now history being made under Brendan's tenure. Unbridled history from our team, management and fans. Much respect to you all, you been there and done it and bought the strip!

And did I mention you have seen the demise of the club formally know as Glasgow Rangers.

Hail Hail.

@Island celt yes all the good times (Lisbon, Seville, Brendan) sure make up for all the bad years, and there were plenty and where I lived in a hun infested area to be a Tim could be quite intimidating with all their "superiority" and "" complex.
But Karma as they say comes to them all, the day after Lisbon is the one I remember best, all us young schoolboy Tims appeared on the street, must have been 30 of us, all in our CELTIC STRIPS, blue Kinning Park was GREEN AND WHITE THAT DAY.

Remember all those periods in our illustrious history - including the memorable Centenery season in '88.
I started a post yesterday about the unique achievements and history of our club and the stories our fathers and grandfathers passed on about Tully, Gallagher, Fernie, Evans and all - plus the one-off highlights like the Empire Exhibition and Coronation cups and I was reminded of an old video I used to own where Big Billy stated that there has always been a 'fairy tale' factor about Celtic FC with their unparalleled achievements, vast array of talent and almost legendary roots and foundations.
Fortunately every generation of supporter has some special memory - some more than others; however the Magic of Celtic appeals to and embraces all ages, creeds, colour and gender. HH.

I started following Celtic in the late 80s
Totally heartbroken throughout the 90s

29 May 2017 22:29:18
The 90s was painful being a young lad and having to see them win 9 in a row, as painful as it was there was nothing like going through the turnstile of the jungle and rushing through to get a glimpse of the players on the park warming up. Always remember the players warming up and the song Sunshine on a rainy day - Zoe would always be playing on the tannoy, sitting on the railing looking around the ground. looking up to see the rope around the framework above, Concept Group written on the roof of the Celtic End, the orange seats in the South Stand, chants of "oh Mikey Mikey. Mikey Mikey Mikey Mikey Galloway. Remember a peach he scored against Dundee Utd from about 30 yeards. I think that same day Mark McNally scored a header from the edge of the box and we beat them 4-0 or 4-1. Considering they were on their way to 9 every game at Celtic park was special I still miss the old ground. Then onto the new Stadium, being on the pitch after the St Johnstone game, dancing to Roll with it before every game, the buzz that we were back and we were strong on and off the park. Will always be grateful to Fergus I hope it isn't too long before there is a statue of the man outside Paradise, How fitting it would be for his statue to be fan funded. I'm sure people that boo'ed on flag day now see what the man did for us, he laid the bricks for where we are now. We may have taken our eye of the ball and I have been very vocal about this Board but they have turned it around we are starting to act like a big club and its now time to invest and really push on and get us back to where we belong. Maybe the best Era is about to come. It is always a great time to be a Tim but it's even better when you know the other lot are a complete embarrassment so c'mon Celtic stick your foot on their throat and don't ever let them get back up again.

What is the general consensus concerning the "challenge" by Stockley? First off, I wasn't too sure if it was deliberate, but the fact that he made no attempt whatsoever to check on Tierney afterwards and that he has apparently been sent off three times this season for the same thing makes me think this must have been deliberate.
Ed - is there any chance of him getting a ban retrospectively for this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It was no accident, Andy. You're spot on too, if it was an accident any decent professional would have been over apologising and checking KT was alright. Watch it again and looking at the force he has turned round with shows that he meant to hurt KT.
As for a retrospective punishment I'd like to think the SFA will do the right thing and punish him, he's got previous for this too, but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully KT gave Bobo Stockley's address lol.}

29 May 2017 12:46:42
Ha ha - I like that. Crikey, Bobo would eat him!
They have to punish this sort of thing - Tierney's game was ended, his jaw apparently broken and some teeth ended up in the roof of his mouth. And not the slightest sign of concern or remorse - he even claimed on social media that it was an accident but couldn't even bring himself to wish KT better. Animal. Earlier this season he could easily have had his leg broken by the thug from Motherwell and nothing was done then either. That's absolutely disgraceful.
Has KT been withdrawn from the England match?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's been nothing official but I'm hoping he does withdraw. He's probably not sobered up enough to feel how sore it really is lol

29 May 2017 12:53:40
I hope he plays - getting one over England would just be an orgasmic climax to the season (and yes, I meant it to sound like a double "whammy"! )

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I couldn't care less about the Scotland v England match. Unless we do a live chat for it I probably won't even watch it.}

29 May 2017 13:09:14
I support any team against England and gone to quite a few extreme measures to prove it.
When it's Scotland v England, it means even more and add in that there's no-one from "them" in the Scotland squad and such a huge presence of our bhoys, it takes to a whole new level for me.

Gents also immediately before that incident Griffiths gets a push in the back by Reynolds that nearly puts him off the pitch and Aberdeen are awarded a throw in! Madden would have been on the phone to the bank changing his pin number after watching Trainspotting.

{Ed007's Note - That's a belter too and they don't even realise that Irvine Welsh is ripping them a new one in it:

29 May 2017 14:34:38
I'm not joking Ed there was posts by zombies on a scottish football page about how funny the scene was that takes the p out of the catholics. They really ain't the brightest are they.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I know mate, it just show that they're legendary lack of self awareness is just as strong as it ever was. They sing that no one likes them and they don't care but we all know that's a lie. It hurts them so deep inside that Celtic are flying and have friends from all walks of life and from all over the world who are more than happy to celebrate with us and all they can do is crank up their vileness to try and counteract it. They should maybe ask why no one likes them and take on board the answers. I fully expect the Trainspotting song to be ringing round football stadiums to go along with their horrendous and illegal Tiffany rip off.}

29 May 2017 15:00:19
Would not be surprised they are filth. Meant to post this yesterday but the Hearts game got me thinking about the cost of the flags the GB use throughout the season, Would it not be fantastic if they put together a live CD and sold it so that everyone could help with costs.

{Ed007's Note - I'd buy that.}

Hi Ed, With the season now over and with the season we've just had there is the expected rumours of half the team being wanted by other clubs. Dembele wanted by Chelsea, Arsenal Spurs and Milan, I find it strange how he was declared fit yet didn't get a run out. I remember you saying there was a fee agreed with Chelsea? Simunovic was apparently watched in the cup final by Swansea, Burnley, Palace, West Brom with Newcastle,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I was really surprised Dembele never got on the way the game was panning out unless Rodgers was thinking if we were a couple of goals up and cruising Dembele would have came on for a run out but with it being so tight AND a hard physical game for the whole 90 mins he didn't want to risk him.
I just can't see Simunovic going to a team at that level. If he wants a move - I've heard Simunovic is very happy here and it's Sviatchenko that's got itchy feet again - then he will probably look at moving to Italy or maybe Germany.
Have a look at that EPL next season - Burnley, Watford, Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton, Stoke, West Brom, Swansea - then either Huddersfield or Reading! Best league in the world my ar$e!}

29 May 2017 12:51:32
Abso-bloody-lutely! It's the most hyped piece of crap since bloody Beckham! One of the most overrated footballers I've ever seen. All the time they are so hell-bent on making one of their players out to be a superstar for doing virtually bugger all!
Their desperation to look and sound better than they actually are is nauseating.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Hahaha nonsense!!! Beckham and Scholes were the last truly world class players England have produced.}

29 May 2017 13:10:04
Beckham class? Class A twat, not footballer!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - His trophy haul and personal awards says otherwise.}

29 May 2017 13:26:17
Maybe, but Terry Hurlock could claim to have winners medal (albeit through cheating. )

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah and that compares to 10 league titles in 4 different countries or a CL winners medal, runner up in the Balon d'Or or the other 20 odd trophies and the numerous awards from the EPL, FA and UEFA.
You can dislike the man and the way he's built his (and hers) public persona but to say that he wasn't a top class player is a bit myopic imo. So you wouldn't have liked to see him in the Hoops?}

29 May 2017 13:24:39
I accidently sent this too early the rest of it is in another post. When you put it like that Ed and you get all the ballbags down here saying we would be relegated put of league 2 it is ridiculous. If those teams are in the prem surely we are good enough to be there as well. It is so overrated. I find English football boring apart from Chelsea, Spurs and the odd City game the rest is like watching paint dry United in the Europa league final as a good example. I hope we keep Moussa another season and he has a injury free season and really bangs them in and add more value to his price tag. If Erik goes as will Kolo I'm assuming then I would hope we sign one experienced CB and one with potential. Giovanni Troupee was rumoured that would be a smart move.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Troupee's a RB so I don't see that happening, Rodgers is more than happy with Lustig and Gamboa with young Ralston ready to push Gamboa for the back up slot in there.
I'm hoping we keep Dembele and that he gets called up for France for next summers World Cup, if he performs well in that the price could go through the roof.
The only EPL games I watch are the Man Utd games and games between the top sides. I'm not going to sit and watch Liverpool v Burnley so I'm sure as hell not going to watch Bournemouth v Swansea. Utd have been dire all season and I don't see that changing next season with Jose still in charge no matter how much they spend on new players. Mourinho needs to change his playing style asap or Utd will continue to struggle competing for the top trophies.}

29 May 2017 14:15:17
I did put a longer reply together, but it got wiped before I could post it. But no, I wouldn't have wanted him at Celtic. Nor Terry or Rooney, as has been rumoured. And my only point was that I'm pretty sure we could all find players with a haul of medals that we don't particularly rate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - OK but I'll side with guys like Ferguson and Zidane on Beckham.}

29 May 2017 15:33:52
I find it strange that a lot of folk don't seem to rate Beckham. Maybe all the celebrity stuff has made people forget but he wasn't just a poor relation to guys like Scholes and Giggs, he was a major factor in the Class of 92's success. He also proved his class for England and on the continent for some of the world's biggest clubs.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 May 2017 10:38:36
Ed do you think we will get our business done quickly this summer in time for the qualifiers? Do you know of interest in any players at this time? You mentioned Federico Venancio a couple of weeks ago, anything happening there?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I do think there will be one or two early signings and that perhaps we'll need CL football to get other targets to sign. I've not heard anything new about Venancio.}

29 May 2017 13:16:52
Hi ED read today in the DR that Celtic are wanting Johny Hayes an truth in this?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think some people have put 2+2 together and came up with a million because Rodgers has known Hayes for years from his Reading days.

www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/celtic/brendan-rodgers-i-convinced-jonny-hayes-not-to-join-celtic-1-4442534

29 May 2017 20:29:02
Cheers Ed!

Makes sense to try and get the very best players we can, even if it means waiting til we secure CL football. Current squad is more than good enough to get through the qualifiers.

Any idea what teams may await us? Mainly in the play-off round.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - In the Play-Off Round and assuming all the seeded teams go through their rounds it will be BATE Borisov, Legia Warsaw, APOEL, Maribor or Qarabag. The Polish league isn't decided yet and if Legia don't win that then Malmo would move up to the play-off round.
The 3rd round could be a bit trickier with - again if all the seeds progress - Malmo, Astana, Partizan, Rijeka, Rosenborg, Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Slavia Prague, Viitorul Constanța, Zilina and FH from Iceland whose real name I'm not even going to try and write lol.}

29 May 2017 21:48:33
Wouldn't fear anyone there. Apoel maybe the toughest, no doubt a fair few brazilians in their ranks. Rijeka must be decent to have ended Zagrebs dominance.

Some of us are old and handsome enough to know we have been here before. On the verge of moving to a new level but in the past we folded and took the route backwards.

I hope that this time we twist. I like the twist.

It's been a long time since we have felt this way. We know we can't spend big, but two £6m quality additions should be within our grasp. The board need to back Rogers. The economics of getting into the CL makes investment money well spent.

Over to the board, they did brilliantly securing the gaffa, he has shown he can improve us. Let him improve us some more.

Great point, Jozo's timing was spot on, I love a challenge that takes man and ball (cleanly) but hard and no nonsense. The look on miller she face when he realised there was no foul coming was cracking. He went from a comatose prostrate figure to full of disbelief jumping about and shouting the odds. Get it right up ye.
For me miller has always been one of those players who works hard and people praise but is ultimately shite.
