To be quite honest I still think Congerton and Rodgers have a lot to prove when it comes to the transfer market and signing players.

There's no doubt there's been major success with the likes of Dembele, Ntcham and Sinclair.

But look how De Vries, Gamboa, Compper, Hayes, Eboue and so on have turned out.

I'm also suprised at the lack of activity. Rodgers always suggested he wanted to be fully prepared for the qualifiers and get business done early but it looks like we are going into these games without Boyata, Lustig, Rogic and haven't replaced Armstrong or Paddy. I have no doubts Rodgers will get us past the Armenians and Rosenberg with the current team but we need to get new boys in for the last 2 rounds.

It’s always seemed very odd to me.

This window was always going to be horrendous with the World Cup bang in the middle and the timing of these nuisance qualifiers - that are always going to be inconvenient and tricky in relation to our season.
However, I agree that the club were well aware of this and hopefully have been doing some serious inquiries and negotiations right now.
There's no point cashing in on previous years CL money and resting on our laurels counting the coins. BR will have reminded the board what and who is required and contemplating failure to qualify is at stake.

3.) 03 Jul 2018 16:12:40
To be prepared for the qualifiers properly we really need to get players in January, it's ok buying in the summer but who says they're going to slot in seamlessly for such important games, and I wouldn't write rosenborg off, their season is in full flow. I do think we'll get past them but I don't think it'll be easy.

4.) 03 Jul 2018 16:27:10
I agree Stephboy. Rodgers said January was a significant window in terms of preparing for the qualifiers and we signed a CB who played 1 game in the second half of a season, a rookie CB and a back up goalie.

Really hope I'm proved wrong and we go and bring some quality players in before the window shuts but I know what Celtic are like!

What's everyone's take on our current squad?

With qualifiers round the corner, Armstrong and Roberts away and uncertainty over Boyata, Dembele Compper and Simunovic.

I appreciate we do not need a massive overhaul, far from it, but we certainly need to Bring in players to improve our performances and play with more attacking flair. And the obvious strengthening that's required in defence.

I'd like to see us bring in McGinn to replace Armstrong and then a two footed winger, RB and a 1/ 2 CBs.

Lewis Morgan is a two footed winger apparently.

2.) 23 Jun 2018 13:35:30
Boyata will be away and id like to think Dembele will be here for the qualifying atleast but ad be hoping for RB and a Center half we still need a Rm and here’s hoping John McGinn signs not asking for much but BR will know what he needs and who he wants.

3.) 23 Jun 2018 14:42:17
IBWT, I'm pretty much on the same page as you to a T in terms of what I would want. I'd like a keeper as well but we'll see.

A rb, a first pick cb, lb for cover for kt, mcginn, no 1 gk, and a winger with a belter of a left foot (or right or both)

Slightly disappointed that we didn't bring anyone with proven quality in after CL qualification however in comparison to where we were last season, we are much stronger on the pitch and in the dugout.

Brendan Rodgers, Chris Davies, Glen Driscoll

De Vries/ Gordon/ Fasab
Lustig/ Gamboa/ Ralston
Simunovic/ Sviatchenko/ Toure/ O'Connel/ McCart
Tierney/ Izzaguire
Brown/ Bitton/ McGregor/ Armstrong/ Rogic
Sinclair/ Forrest/ Roberts/ GMS
Griffiths/ Dembele/ Ciftci

Should walk the league and win at least one of the cups.

We will struggle in Europe, but getting there was the main challenge and hopefully we can use the money made to add more quality in Jan and keep building.

With Gamboa now on board, will be officially announced later today, I think BR will turn his full attention to bringing in a creative CM.

One name being mentioned is Lucas Leiva who wokred with BR at Lpool. I think he would be a great addition and realistic. McCarthy not going to happen.

Has anyone heard of any other targets?

I never thought of Lucas as a creative midfielder at Liverpool and thought he did a lot of the unfancied graft?

2.) 30 Aug 2016 10:10:32
According to the Mail, Sources inside Parkhead rubbished Lucas interest.

3.) 30 Aug 2016 10:11:29
Isn't lucas a defensive mid?

4.) 30 Aug 2016 10:18:15
Lucas ain't a creative midfielder! He's a ball winner and beaks up attacks! Which is exactly what I think we need! But BR seems to be wanting an attacking midfielder. kind of makes makes me think that rogic won't play if this happens! Really like the big man to! Guess we'll all just need to wait and see who BR pulls out the hat!

5.) 30 Aug 2016 10:18:53
We are being linked with a lot of defensive midfielders but with Brown, Bitton, McGregor, Henderson and Ajar already there I don't see the point. Armstrong has also said he would prefer to play there.

6.) 30 Aug 2016 10:32:15
Wiss81 how do you know the manager wants an attacking midfielder?

7.) 30 Aug 2016 11:53:22
There were rumours of wiltshere coming in on a season long loan.

8.) 30 Aug 2016 11:55:00
brown, mcgregor and henderson aren't DM niall, ajer and bitton are the only 2 natural DM at the club atm.

9.) 30 Aug 2016 12:02:40
Wiss i really think we need cover for rogic as he looks dead on his feet at times in the latter stages of 90 mins.

10.) 30 Aug 2016 12:12:41
Yeh that's a good point yayo, he does seem to tire pretty
Easily! No doubting his ability but your spot on with the fitness thing! Just going by what he said the other day kev83.said he wants a creative player in, and I'm assuming that's midfielder mate. just guessing to be honest lads! Lol.

11.) 30 Aug 2016 12:20:08
If he does bring in another AM I guess that means we will play with 1 up or a back 3.

12.) 30 Aug 2016 12:30:04
Don't think we have a real defensive mid at the club just now.
Most of them cannot or will not tackle, chase back or win the ball and keep possession. Brown is the closest, but he is more of a box-to-box (although he has played in a holding role many times) .
Armstrong, Rogic, Bitton, McGregor and Henderson don't have a tackle between them and neither do the wide men for that matter.
We are short of ball-winners and muscle in the middle of the park.

13.) 30 Aug 2016 14:39:40
Depressing to see that even one person on here reads the Mail.
