ive been hearing Lucas of Liverpool name been mentioned he's out of contract at the end of the season truth in that ED?

{Ed007's Note - He's out of contract but I've not heard anything about us signing him. It's just another rumour started by a hit-whoring site.}

Would think we would have enough defensive minded midfielders in the squad, it's attacking midfielder I'd like to see brought in.

@LH86:Surely given the spread of goals among this team that's not a real issue domestically? We do need a bit if tweaking in some areas, but between the players mentioned and the younger squad i think BR will look for a passer.

I thought passing was Lucas' main strength. I don't think he's all that defensively anyway. But I agree I'd sooner see a quality CAM.

Cannot stand the player (Lucas) total liability ever time he comes on the park.

15 May 2017 13:38:33
Lucas has been for the most part an average player in a run of the mill mid EPL table team.

Totally agree with JimTim, quality CAM mid would be nice, Ante Coric Is one that springs to mind but no idea if we'd be able to get him.

It is madness to think about selling Dembelle until it becomes a necessity, when he makes his full french debut, his value will skyrocket, it is also madness to talk about downgrading Griffith's in the pecking order for someone who is very much unproven as is the case of Solanke, probably won't come north of the border but if he does, hope it isn't another case of what happened with Guidetti.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

14 May 2017 17:33:17
It's not madness, the whole point is developing the squad. Rodgers isn't a massive fan on Griffiths so he has to work for his place. I agree he's a very important player for us but if a better striker comes in it's only correct to replace him. I'm sure it would be the same case for solanke.

Unless we get an offer in excess of £30m (which I can't see) then I would think the board would look at the bigger picture with what we could earn for CL qualification. I TOTALLY get the 'what if he get's a bad injury' argument. tricky one.

I agree with your first point Aindoh. If Dembele is willing to stay, and I honestly think he is, then we would be silly to sell him this season. I think he will want to play CL football for us, knowing he will participate in every game and gain further experience. He appears to be a very patient and mature kid who is astute enough to know that time is on his side.

I partly agree with your second point. I think LG would and should be rightly pissed off if he was to get pushed down the pecking order. However, I will qualify that by saying that he's at a big club and big club's are fluid in their development. The playing staff will constantly change and hopefully improve. It is up to him to secure his place in the starting line up.

As for Solanke, who knows if he will come and who knows if he will be a success. The point is, if it isn't him coming to challenge our current strikers then it will be someone else. We should be embracing that sort of investment and improvement instead of fearing it, and so should the players.

In brendan we trust a would bet we'll come out the summer transfer window stronger HH.

Don't really post much but on the subject of Griffiths I feel I had to. Anyway I don't see what goes on behind the scenes but on the field you can hardly fault Griffiths for his contribution. If he hadn't picked up that injury I would have expected him to score 20+ even with his limited game time.

To even consider him being third choice is insane imo, if dembele was to leave or get injured long term I'm sure he would easily pick up where he left off. I hope Rodgers issue isn't down to his ego especially with what he said when he first arrived or down to him trying to stamp his authority although I do believe Griffiths should be doing as he is asked.

Hopefully we can get to a point where we have 3 top class forwards (demblele, Griffiths+1) as we did with Larsson and co. Neither are in the same league mind you 😉.

Sutton, Larsson and Hartson, the hunskelpers.

We won't get an offer of over £25-£30 million for Dembele as our Board will make it clear to any club who show an interest that a bid isn't welcome . Interest will be snubbed at outset .

Of course its no surprise that we have no idea who may be coming in, Celtic have always been good at keeping their cards close to their hearts and Brendan is keeping this tradition.

Ed - do you know if there is any truth in the Demebele being sold rumours? They seem to be coming from quite a few sources. Thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's a Sunday, the day the papers have all their rumours and gossip round ups so they need to think up some headline grabbers and trawl the 'net for rumours, didn't this latest story about Dembele start on that HITC which is just kids paid to make up stories?.
The Club have said Dembele is not for sale and the player himself has said he wants to stay and as far as I know nothing has changed.}

14 May 2017 13:42:12
Thanks mate - that's reassuring. It was even worse to read that he was rated at £20 million - not sure what he could have done wrong for his value to have halved!
Thanks again.

dembele has a gentlemans agreement with rodgers to play for another season here then rodgers will let him move on.

Supposedly we're interested in Dani Gomez. He's 18 and a striker. Player for Real Madrid B. He's played for spains under 19's aswell. Potentially to replace Dembele if he leaves? Or a third option up front?

The more I read BBC Gossip the more I think Dembele is off. It's important to take these things with a pinch of salt though as often the red top rags are just propoganda.

As much as I love Dembele, it's important to remember talk of big-money offers from England for Boruc, Bitton, Kayal and Lee Naylor not too long ago. The club resisted and ended up with little to show for it.

If Dembele's form takes a dip and the new guy scores a barrel-load, we'll end up with a fraction of the £20m+.

It's a tough one. Let's see what concrete interest there is first.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 May 2017 12:25:22
Dembele himself hasn't made any noises about wanting to leave and BR has spoken about wanting to keep squad together and not needing to sell. Reckon pinch of salt is right on this one. Win win situation for us really as long as we get a meaty sell on clause out on. Might be tin hat time but for all his magic, Dembele has also been pretty inconsistent at times and is still pretty rough about the edges, 25-40 mill player potentially but investing that in him just now is a gamble for any club.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2017 12:35:04
To be fair? Even if his for dips and he stays? Which I doubt . He only cost £450,000 so anything we get above that is good business. Think of the money we lost on bangoura, cifti, pukki to say the least 😂😂😂.

14 May 2017 16:49:19
@Honest_Mistake, I'd take 4 seasons of Dembele up front ahead of £30M all day long. We focus too much on how much money we can get for players instead of enjoying the players while they're here.

14 May 2017 17:35:19
Exactly, not a single first team player will be sold this window I reckon.

14 May 2017 19:02:16
Ken, that's exactly what I'm hoping for. That and the chance of either signing PR or making him the first loaner to get a testimonial! Will leave it to BR regarding who comes in but we've already got best team in over a decade imo.

14 May 2017 20:09:20
Exactly kevbhoy. 4 seasons of hun scalping for £450,000? We know what we have. A bit like larsson. Forget cashing in . Just enjoy the memories.

Larsson was 26-27 by the time Celtic knew what they had on their hands and football money, mad as it still was, wasn't the craziness that it is today. Would love if we did hold onto MD for next few years, even if we only got a fraction of the magic we got with Henky but reckon the board will have an offer too good to refuse sooner or later.

Honest mistakes, surely the biggest and most stupid mistake is to believe one word on the BBC Gossip column .
Surely you are experienced enough to understand the criteria for reporting by media re Scottish Football is : if it annoys Celtic FC or Celtic fans it is true and should be reported with a wee bit added on .
