Idah has been poor recently and now is not the time to drop Kyogo as he has a great record against Sevvies, poor as he has been recently. Given the choice of Miovski or Idah it's Miovski all day long. Idah is a good squad player, slight upgrade on Oh but never a 1st team starter. He may become one in time but not for me at moment.

29 Apr 2024 17:53:08
I agree… handy sub but rather than have Kyogo…. Current form considered.

29 Apr 2024 18:58:38
Idah been poor recently? When?

29 Apr 2024 19:08:47
I like Idah and would say he's done well since he came into the team but he isn't anywhere near Kyogo or Miovski level .

If we could sign Miovski in the summer I think he could net 30+ goals a season, if he got enough minutes, but I can't see the sheep wanting him anywhere near the East End of Glasgow.

☘️ 🍀 ☘️.

29 Apr 2024 19:33:26
Idah over Miovski for me. In the League Miovski has a goal every 212 minutes, Idah every 69. Niiice. Granted, Idah plays for the better side but quantitatively, that's a big difference. If both were given a good run in a Celtic side in parallel universes, I'd back Idah to score more. He has more about his game for me. A strength and turn of pace that Miovski doesn't have. Miovski has played some good games against us but in others, hasn't looked anywhere near as challenging. I reckon Idah will be bullying our centre backs every day.

30 Apr 2024 13:30:51
Idah is playing against packed defences when he comes on for Celtic . I wonder would he be better at working defenders than, Kyogo if he was to play the first hour, and would Kyogo have more chances against a tiring defence in closing 30 minutes.
It’s very difficult to know how Miovski would fare playing for us . Does he need to play opening hour, or would he shine in closing 30 minutes . That’s the type of thing that our recruitment team should know before we decide whether to bid for him .

30 Apr 2024 15:42:02
des, recruitment team?

😄 🤣 😂

Idah is a menace to opposition defenders, he has great movement, pace and physical presence. He may be a bit raw but he's on a different level to Oh and his stats indicate that given equal minutes on the pitch he would outscore Kyogo, I also think miovski would as well. I would definitely be looking to replace Kyogo as starting striker next season.

29 Apr 2024 14:22:19
I'd start idah against the wee buns they're quite physical and the big man has it.

29 Apr 2024 14:53:21
Yes Mally, we need some muscle as well as skill. Dundee bossed us up front and in the middle physically. Idah was not pushed around and stood his ground well.
Iwata is stronger than CalMac at the moment - but who else can we add for skill and strength?

29 Apr 2024 15:05:03
Agreed, Kyogo has not been doing it lately so give Idah a wee run.

29 Apr 2024 15:18:27
Up until recently,
Kyogo had scored 9 games in a row against Hearts and he also has a great scoring record against Sevco.

I mentioned last week, I wanted Idah to start against Dundee because Kyogo hasn’t scored a league goal away from home in the last 6 months.

But I wanted Kyogo back against his favourite clubs especially at Celtic Park.
I don’t know now.

Brendan now has a big decision to make, after such a poor Dens Park performance by Kyogo.

29 Apr 2024 16:38:39
The problem is how can Kyogo be expected to score when we don't play the ball in to space for him to run on to. I've never seen a celtic striker get so little service it's apauling. Our play under Rodgers is a pretty tough watch.

29 Apr 2024 17:08:14
Although we have a small playing pool available BR has a choice to make every week and he usually gets it right and so he should as he sees his players at training every week . With the use of 5 substitutes per match, the use of substitutes is very important this season and sometimes BR may be holding back a player as he hopes he can do a good job during last 30 mins.

29 Apr 2024 19:03:51
4 games left to retain the title and we need our best and most experienced players playing.

Given his record, that's Kyogo every day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

29 Apr 2024 23:56:30
Referees and VAR has removed tackling from our armour . We have to try to make opponents run into trouble, while they have no fears about tackling
BR wants us finishing with 11 men against opponents 13.

29 Apr 2024 14:21:18
Tavpen nominated for poy must be due to the pens because its not his defending. mor also nominated but butland will get it.

29 Apr 2024 14:36:46
They can win all the POTY awards for all I care. Most of ours don't deserve it anyway. Winning the league is all that matters.

29 Apr 2024 15:19:26
I think Shankland is favourite for POTY.

29 Apr 2024 17:03:43
I agree we do not have a worthy candidate as even MOR has faded badly and several players have had injury interrupted campaigns. Sure there have been some steady performers for part of the season including the much maligned Scales, but as long as the team wins the title it won't bother me who gets individual plaudits.

29 Apr 2024 17:11:16
Sure Shankland has done nothing against Rangers2012 and shouldn’t win award . Tav and Butland are nominated but neither have contributed any more than a small fraction of baby Dallas on VAR and Beaton with whistle.

29 Apr 2024 13:50:39
A huge credit to James forrest for his contribution recently and ill be the 1st to admit i would have been happy for him to move on next year.
I haven't changed my mind on that as i feel we need better than james to progress, and that's not a knock on james, at his age that's just the reality now.
He has been a tremendous servant and although i've never been his biggest fan he's had a tremendous career for us. If he is still with us next season im sure he will continue to play his part.

The only other thing i want to bring up regarding james is that its a terrible look on the squad that we have had to rely on a bit part player to save our season recently. Khun isn't good enough, yang isn't good enough and rogers clearly doesn't rate palma.
Ill be shocked if kyogo is still at the club next season let alone 1st choice. His overall form this season hasn't been good enough.
Finally this might be very unpopular but im unsure i even want mcgregor as 1st choice from next season. he's been way off it for the majority of the season and its clear the midfield needs a serious makeover. there's something missing with him, its like he hasn't the legs to carry the ball and has seemed much slower moving the ball. He has regressed massively this season.
For me Oriley, CCV and johnston are the only 3 players at the club id be happy with in the starting 11 next season.

Anyways at this stage of the season to hell with performances, just get over the line with the league and cup by any means necessary and rebuild in the summer.

29 Apr 2024 14:19:29
DT been saying for weeks james is far better than yang and palma. he keeps possession and can nick a goal obviously going forward we need better but for the here and now it's james all day.

29 Apr 2024 16:49:40
Yip, Forrest for me albeit I don't think he does well against Newco. It's all about winning ugly from now on. Remember wee Gers will let Newco rub their tummies their last game so it's all on us.

29 Apr 2024 17:14:02
That's it in a nutshell, out of Palma, Khun, Yang, and even MJ or Haksabanovic, the bottom line is we don't have better than JF or Maeda and that's a big worry going forward whatever happens this season. Several people have also mentioned the decline in Cal-Mac due to the amount of football he has been asked to play over the past few years (it's a fair bet he will be going to The |Euros as well) . Basically, we need major surgery right through the team/ squad because we will also have no decent goalkeeper as well as the other positions that need strengthened or upgraded. Huge job ahead and the way the club is currently being operated, it looks like a job for Superman!

29 Apr 2024 17:22:48
God help us if re are relying on only keeping MO’R, CCV and Johnston, first 2 are certainly capable enough but do their agents see them playing in the hoops next season. It could be a problem getting rid of all but 3 first team players and one or others then leave .
I am not sure about Johnston, he blows hot and cold, in my book totally to blame for the last 2 goals Rangers2012 scored against us recently . They were allowed all the time in the world to place cross where they wanted . I think AJ puts too much effort in the first 60-70 mins and then isn’t capable of defending properly at end . Teams who make massive changes take the most of a season at least to gell and would find it hard to retain SPL.

30 Apr 2024 15:45:35
Agree with your post Derrytim 👍

It’s amazing how some people seem to think that Forrest at 32 shouldn’t at his age be anywhere near the playing pitch . I don’t agree and I think he could play another few seasons at the top of the SPL. JF hasn’t been exactly over played in most of his 15 seasons, tactically and for other reasons I don’t think he has played 40 games in many seasons . Throughout the football world there are always many players playing in out field positions until their middle late 30’s
Tiago Silva is 39 and leaving Chelsea, maybe In a few yrs could join Sevco . Modric is no chicken . Leicester City have Vardy.

29 Apr 2024 13:35:43
I didn't see the whole game this weekend only highlights on BBC but I could see that we are a shambles on defending corners and free kicks into the box. I don't remember seeing us win a single header. Other posters have highlighted wingers that aren't good enough, strikers not taking our chances or a powder puff midfield. To an extent I agree, but for me the worst aspect of this team is defending corners and free kicks. What do they do in training?

29 Apr 2024 20:36:17
Going forward I would be happy for us to get a dead ball expert in to help with coaching . Arsenal being the main beneficiaries of this when they took Man City’s one . For seasons we have been shocking at dead ball chances. We have more corners than prob all the other teams but I would guess our scoring rate from corners and free kicks is amongst the lowest. And we have been poor at defending them as well.
Obviously a coach can only help so much if we don’t have a player that can whip a ball in, which going on this seasons evidence we don’t, however a specialised coach can only help.
Seems weird that goalkeeping coaches are the norm but something that costs you games and wins you games, the vast majority don’t have a specific coach for that.

30 Apr 2024 13:39:31
Highlights of matches haven’t the time to show routine headed clearances from any defence. Apart from the Sevco match this week’s highlights were very skimped and anything that created any little bit of a chance for Dundee was shown .
I don’t usually watch highlight programme, but from what I seen of Sevco match I don’t know how Platinum balls Butland wasn’t sent off for his taking out the St Mirren player after Butland had got to ball . He followed on right through him and was extremely lucky he didn’t get red.

29 Apr 2024 12:56:30
With Fleetwood relegated and season over could bosun lawal play fir us? Or Are loans a calendar year or 6 Month etc or a seasons worth of games?

{Ed007's Note - You can't register any players outside of the transfer window unless they were free agents at the end of the previous window.}

Does anyone think a conversation needs to be had regarding McGregor . Apart from the ibrox game early in the season, I’m finding it difficult to remember a really good game he’s had . Whilst he has been a great servant to Celtic, approaching 31 and with the amount of games he puts his body on the line for us with, could he be starting to slow up?
When we play. European level teams he struggles to break up play and defend play as it’s not his natural role.
Do we need to move him forward a bit with a proper mobile defensive midfielder behind him or do we start using him more sporadically to get the best out of him? I feel he needs to be playing regularly to keep his tempo up as we have seen recently with his performances .
Or is it in fact not a position we need to look at imminently with the other positions we need to improve on more important? Or I is he just having an average season and it’s noticeable as he normally is one of our better players and this season has dipped?

29 Apr 2024 13:34:04
It’s the most important position on the pitch in my opinion. As soon as Iwata came on yesterday all the pressure on our back line was almost mitigated. It’s been the same all season, he is an empty shirt at the moment and shouldn’t play again this season.

Give the man a rest and see where he is at in pre-season. Have to remember he will be away to the euros as well.

29 Apr 2024 12:31:18
One year ago tomorrow,
Celtic once again beat Sevco comfortably enough at Hampden, although it was only 1-0.

Our lineup yesterday had 8 players that started that match one year ago.

The only players missing were Jota, Starfelt and Maeda.
Maeda could make it 9 players this Saturday if he's fit.

Forrest never made the bench one year ago at Hampden, although he was fit and available and yet he was the massive difference and won Celtic the game yesterday.

The question now is what has happened to this team.

Our recruitment this season has been abysmal and that has prevented improvement.

But the vast majority of our Treble winning team were on display yesterday and the regression was plain to see.

Another Question,
Do you still want Brendan as our manager if he wins us another title?

Personally I would give him another chance to get decent players in but it's alarming how poor we are, with players who were good enough last season.

29 Apr 2024 13:08:57
Most of the players were suited Ange's tactics, that's why Kyogo looks a shadow of the player he was under Ange. Brendan tactics are too slow for me, I want a manager who doesn't advocate playing from out the back, and doesn't play Maeda🤣.

29 Apr 2024 17:36:29
Maeda would be one of the first names I would put on team sheet, as we don’t know what to expect, he disrupts opponents all over pitch and can score or create out of nothing . Kyogo should be able to adopt to. BR tactics, but I think his main problem is that he isn’t making chances for himself and isn’t scoring from many chances, team are not feeding him as much, because he isn’t accurate enough . Cal McGregor is attracting closer marking than previous yrs and isn’t capable of freeing himself and contributing enough . A period of coming on near end may suit him better. I think that all 3 midfielders MO’R, Hatate and Cal form suffers, if one of them is off form . Hopefully an in form Iwata can lift form of Hatata and MO’R.

29 Apr 2024 11:06:00
4 games to go, 3 of them at home and we need 2 wins and 2 draws to guarantee the league title. They need 4 wins.

Realistically, win our next 2 games and we are champions.

I'm pretty comfortable with this, I think we'll be celebrating the title with a game to spare.

Some of our fans need to stop spitting the dummy out, yes some of the players are not up to scratch but nothing we can do about that for now, just back the team and stop moaning.

29 Apr 2024 12:38:33
Gerrymurphy . You are 100% right . In many ways winning SPL this year should be all the sweeter . Our player pool is weak . The weakness was made even worse with pro long injuries to key players .
We usually feel we have been cheated to some extent by referee . This season refs and VAR Officials have been particularly harsh on us, so much so that many of our players are afraid to tackle as they fear a penalty kick or card awarded .
Fans need to follow Gerrymurphy advice and back the team and stop moaning.
