Well, it looks like Idah is the target. I'm always optimistic that Celtic have done their homework correctly and we will have a fan's favourite. However, I also respect Chris Sutton as a man in the know and a good judge of players. Chris is underwhelmed by the news.

I'd tend to agree, given big Sutton played that role and Norwich was his first club, he'll know more than most.

I just hope that when called upon, this lad does the business, whether goes scored or created.

We had Big Joe alert and sound in goal, Kyogo with 2 super goals, and we finished well on top with panache and confidence.
Really delighted with 3 pts from potential banana skin. More of the same next week Bhoys - just bring it on!

A team performance we should be proud of . Took us 10 mins to sort ourselves out . Everyone from Joe Hart to J Forrest on the left wing were superb . The whole back four took care of their strike force, midfield was in control and Cal Mc G was back at his back . Kuhn did quite a bit of good things but physically may not yet be strong enough yet . Kyogo set the game a light in first 20 mins.

2.) 04 May 2024 20:32:38
I expected Kyogo to step up against the diets and to do so next week. Our players do their talking on the pitch.

Joe Hart has been amazing of late, amazing performance, that ball from oreilly might push it to 40m ?.

Regarding VAR and Yang review.

As far as I am aware the people who are deciding whether VAR was correct are members of SMSM, who are normally supporters and biased towards Rangers2012. The SMSM members are assisted by current and ex referees . We know that elite referees were always biased towards Sevco. In addition there may be a few ex Managers of Scottish teams and as no one is named it is likely they are all Rangers 2012 fans .
Named people referees and journalists have no trouble showing their pro Sevco and anti Celtic bias, we can be sure when acting anonymously they will be just as biased.

Was there not a incident this season where I think it was Ross Mccausland? I think but it was one of them clearly dived at the side of a Goalkeeper and they got a penalty even though the camera angle showed he dived.

3.) 01 May 2024 19:48:25
I think that was at livingston, and the referee might have been McLean.

4.) 01 May 2024 21:48:00
glen,
It was McLean at Livingston.
Steven Kirkland was doing VAR and he has another Ibrox gig on Sunday.

Thank God for Jamsie because that was torture.

I don’t know why Kyogo is getting again from fans. He is a striker and like all strikers they need service so there is not a lot he can do without it. Our midfield created nothing today.

{Ed007's Note - So what about the sitters he misses when he does get the ball- like he has since he came in to Celtic - whose fault are those?
We're playing a LW as our main striker, since he came in he's missed more clear cut chances than he has scored, he doesn't have that striker's instinct that a Henrik, Sutton, Hartson or even a Hooper, Leigh Griffiths or JVOH had.
A good striker will create their own chances when their team mates aren't helping, create space for their team mates in and around the box etc, Kyogo adds nothing to the team except the odd goal, he's had a 54% shot accuracy this season, one of the lowest in the squad.
People are looking for excuses for Kyogo, it's Rodgers system, it's the wingers and midfields fault blah blah blah, there's no excuse for the levels of performance from Kyogo this season.
Idah has scored 7 goals in 11 games, Kyogo has 13 in 41 games, so who's giving Idah the service that Kyogo isn't getting?
I've said this stuff since Kyogo came in, he was and is never good enough to be Celtic's main striker and we will not progress as a team if he continues to be our main striker. It gives me the fear the thought of going into next years CL with CalMac at CDM and Kyogo as our main striker.}

2.) 28 Apr 2024 22:35:47
Said before that with what we have at this moment in time, I’d consider playing without wingers ( Jamie, s contribution acknowledged ) for the last few games. We wouldn’t miss them as they never give us width or get to the line. That would beef up the midfield, protect the defence and we could play with two up front. Couldn’t be worse than what we’re watching just now.

3.) 29 Apr 2024 02:14:39
Oh what I would give for a Hooper type striker just now.

4.) 28 Apr 2024 22:53:14
Spot on Ed, oh how I yearn for the days of Larsson, Hartson and big Sutton. Even big Giakoumakis would bring far more than Kyogo currently brings. don't see why we can't play with a front three of Forrest, Kyogo or Maeda and Idah. It needs something different.

{Ed007's Note - Giakoumakis would have thrived under Rodgers imo.}

5.) 29 Apr 2024 13:39:42
Giakoumakis was a proper striker. I thought he was one of the best we’ve had in years. He’s Idah on roids!

Like everyone else I'm delighted to be in yet another Hampden final. (My first was 1961 when we lost to Dunfermline in a replay. We were all over the Fifers in both games. )
My point is our poor wing play. Forrest did more in 5 mins than the other wingers did in 90 mins. We must get better wide men.

So it's Advantage Celtic but not yet near Match Point. After this weekend cup tie we need full throttle application and concentration. No slip ups, no glimmer of hope to Sevco. Game at a time, maximum effort, 3 points every time til we cross that line. Then we can look forward to summer and all the transfer rumours.

I have often been frustrated (both this season and last season) by the number of clumsy and needless free kicks we have conceded. Some of these have led to goals that the opposition would not have otherwise scored. The dreaded set-piece causing a stramash in our penalty box and ending up in the net. High press by forwards often increases the fouls we commit. I don't know why we are so careless at times but it also leads to players on a tightrope after unnecessary bookings.

Yes Mally, we need some muscle as well as skill. Dundee bossed us up front and in the middle physically. Idah was not pushed around and stood his ground well.
Iwata is stronger than CalMac at the moment - but who else can we add for skill and strength?

I'm sure that does happen aindoh. Can you imagine Pele, Maradona, Jinky, Best, Ronaldinho etc etc in a Youth Academy? Their talents would have been stifled. Mediocre players can be coached to improvement. Real naturals are special and they embrace and light up the game with their skills.

Regards our wingers Chinks, I agree, not in the same class as Jota or Jamsie at his best. We surely cannot go into European competition with these guys. They will not cut it at basic European level never mind the big guns. We need to spend this summer. We all love great wing play but for that to happen we need great wingers.

Drb - both are decent prospects, but would they help us progress in Europe? I suspect that we will be the whipping Bhoys again when our next European campaign starts. We require significantly better quality in most areas of the park. I fear it will be the 'same old, same old' unless we really splash out on some real talent. Buy some players that Brendan does not have to coach. Dare I say 'Oven Ready'?
