I read somewhere that the bold Pedro was not taking an active role in any of our transfer dealings, good thing you may say, but take Idah for example, whoever sanctioned his loan without putting in a transfer fee should be fired, at least Pedro would have tied Idah into a buy out clause which benefitted Celtic that's what he does well, now Norwich hold all the aces.

Not sure if a transfer option was part of the loan Tim? As often the case with Celtic, it was a last-minute deadline day arrangement.
Not sure if the player himself was keen on a permanent move either but maybe after sampling the highs of the past few months he might be tempted and maybe a player plus ££ could be possible.

Tim am certain there reason was there was no time left in the window to negotiate a buy option. still poor management tho.

Tim the fact there was no buy option agreed with norwich is a dereliction of duty and if they haven't already left the building (young lawwell? ) then they are not fit for purpose and should be held accountable.
There literally is nothing that can excuse it as a fee of about 4m would probably have been agreed.
I think if norwich can somehow hold on to the lad sargent then idah will definetly be on the move. If sargent moves to the EPL which is being talked about then they will probably try hold on to him.
It will also come down to idah himself, he will have options but if celtic make a fair bid and he wants to return then we will get him.

Mally is correct, there was not enough time to fully negotiate a contract as it was done at last minute.

I have mentioned this before on here. I read an article were Rodgers was speaking about the Idah transfer. He claimed that the signing had nothing to do with our recruitment team and that he had received a phonecall from his agent saying he was available. This happened near the close of the window and Rodgers said he remembered Idah from when he broke through at Norwich.

If it had not been for that phonecall we would have likely lost the league as our recruitment team and directors had failed miserably in the January transfer window.

Personally speaking I think more heads should roll and the recruitment team were not the only ones at fault.

I'm maybe guilty of mis-reading things but Idah didn't exactly fill me with confidence he wants to come to Celtic post cup final, going by his comments. Very non committal. I appreciate though the reality is it's subject to negotiations with Norwich and the player.

{Ed007's Note - What did you expect him to say? His contract with Celtic was up, he's contracted to Norwich again and what if the new Norwich manager wants him, what if the move to Celtic doesn't happen for whatever reason, maybe the price will be £9m like Sutton - a guy that blasted Idah when he came in - thinks.
The press blew it out of proportion and Celtic fans took the bait, it's the usual type of message you get when a players loan ended, if you look back you'll probably find the same kind of message from guys like Edouard

Imagine him saying that he wanted a move to us after the final, what message does that send to the club and the fans of the club that own him. Hecwas their player again after the final whistle, so neither him nor Celtic have a real say in what happens now, it is down the Norwich.

The reality is the new manager will assess him and if he fits into his plan, he will stay there, no matter what he wants.

They will put a high price on him if they want him to stay, as we would and item do. It is out of our hands.

I think BR and his team will have that in mind and are looking at alternatives.

Hi all hope your doing well.

I remember when we signed Idah, Verona were in the driving seat, and the deal fell through as Norwich insisted in no option to buy. We agreed to the terms to get the deal over the line.

Really don't want this turning into another mcginn saga lol

Hope you are keeping well awesome people!
